“Goofy” Celebrities Blind to Cold and Snow

By Vijay Jayaraj

Hollywood actor Rainn Wilson, famous for his role in of one of my favorite sitcoms, “The Office,” has changed his Instagram profile name to ‘Rainnfall heat wave extreme winter Wilson,’ in what he calls a move to make people more aware of the dangers of climate change. He could have used instead the word “weather.”

He has even suggested other actors do the same, offering names like Leonardo Di-Polar Ice Caprio Are Melting, Cardi The Arctic B Melting, Amy Poehler Bears Are Endangered, and Harrison Why Not Drive An Electric Ford.

It is sad that celebrities are intentionally promoting a false narrative or are being misled about climate by a few elite groups of politically driven pseudoscience organizations and the mainstream media. Real-world data indicate no dangerous or unprecedented warming. There even has been a pause in the warming rate during short periods in the last two decades.

The past seven years have been very interesting. In 2016, El Nino, which is a weather phenomenon emanating from the Pacific Ocean, increased global temperatures. However, below-average temperatures were frequent every year, since then, contradicting the current climate narrative that summers are longer and hotter and winters are shorter.

Despite a rapid increase in greenhouse gas emissions from sources such as power plants, agriculture and combustion engines, various regions have had a pause in warming. This hiatus has been marked by instances of very heavy snow accumulation and an increase in the levels of sea ice in the Arctic.

The gold standard of satellite temperature data at the University of Alabama, Huntsville (UAH), show that the Arctic has in fact been cooling (or at least displaying an observable pause in warming) since 2015. In the graph below, one can easily comprehend the lack of warming and the spike in temperatures during the El Niño year.

Data source: University of Alabama, Huntsville. https://www.nsstc.uah.edu/data/msu/v6.0/tlt/uahncdc_lt_6.0.txt

The MSM consistently fails to report on the historically high ice mass levels in the Arctic region. The Greenland ice sheet is one of the key subjects of discussion in the global debate on climate change. For decades, the MSM claimed that Arctic Sea ice, including Greenland’s, could disappear as a result of increasing temperatures.

However, anxiety about Greenland’s ice mass is ill-founded. Evidence shows that Greenland’s ice is not in a dramatic decline. In fact, the Greenland Surface Mass Balance (SMB) – an index used to measure sea-ice level – is at one of its highest levels in recorded history.

Image: Greenland Accumulated Surface Mass Balance (SMB) in Gigatons. Current levels much higher than the 1981-2010 mean and the previous two years.  Source: Polar Portal by The Danish Arctic research institutions. http://polarportal.dk/en/greenland/surface-conditions/

The entire Northern hemisphere has been receiving high amounts of snow. According to NASA/Rutgers’ latest data, the Northern Hemisphere’s snow cover is above the 56-year mean (1967-2022). At one point in November, it reached an all-time high.

Sometimes, it is easier to understand weather data than a mind unwilling to accept a reality that challenges an apocalyptic narrative. As for the celebrities who exhibit such recalcitrance, we would borrow a name from a Disney character: Goofy.

Rainnfall heat wave extreme winter Wilson, as it calls itself, needs to grow up

Still, those are the important trends…. Who’s up, who’s down

Celebrity actors are the absolute darlings of the warmistas – simply because they are scientifically clueless and their very livelihood depends on the ability to convincingly deliver a line of complete BS and make it believable.
They then climb into a private aircraft and fly away – in the case of Harrison Ford he sees nothing wrong with flying his private plane down to Catalina to get his favourite hamburger.

As Leonardo DiCaprio famously states “I’m not a scientist !” – and then goes on to pontificate about a subject that he is clearly clueless (but passionate) about.

In his acceptance speech for his Oscar (for his part in The Revenant) he mentioned how hard it was for the film crews to find snow to film in. He didn’t think it relevant to mention it was difficult to find pristine snow within an easy helicopter flight of a five star hotel with access to nearby roads for logistical requirements. Idiot ! You can find snow somewhere – anywhere, anytime – it’s just not always going to be in a convenient place to film in.

Google held a “Climate Camp” in July 2019 and invited hundreds of “A” list tree hugging celebrities (widely known for total ignorance of science) to discuss saving the Earth.
https://climatechangedispatch.com/backlash-celebs-climate-camp/
Most arrived by private plane (114 planes) and luxury mega-yachts to discuss how we plebs must rein in our lifestyles to “Save The Earth” – the staggering hypocrisy of such “celebrities” is is only topped by their scientific ignorance.

Some are stupid, Some are evil and complicit, e.g. Dicrapio. Some know that the climate will always change as it always has but they need to eat and they can’t get work if they don’t tow the line and promote the narrative.

This latter bit they all are sure of. And it is an expensive work around to start up their own production companies. The Faceless Cultural Elite have control and the game is rigged in most areas of commerce. Hollywood is just more visible than most.

He’s a comedian. He’s supposed to make you laugh, not teach you anything. Actors mean to entertain you, not educate you. Sometimes they do that by shocking you. Rainnman is trying to find a way to amuse you. This attempt didn’t work, much like the first season of The Office.

Are celebrities born silly”

It’s their horribly bad diets.
For most, they starve before they get a decent acting part.
Then it’s the endless starvation diets as they try to get slim again for a role.
There there are the fad diets that they follow for their virtue signaling. Fad diets are very bad for intelligence.

Overall, very bad nutritional levels; bone density, minerals and vitamin levels way off.

Technically, the article states “Leonardo Di-Polar Ice Caprio Are Melting”.

Suggesting that both Polar ice caps are dying in death spirals?

  • A) Making their foolish names incredibly ignorant as neither Polar cap is dying.
  • B) Di-Polar is a clumsy attempt to use a prefix, from Greek, to represent two, double, twofold, twice, etcetera. Using a dash to splice a prefix and root together doesn’t make Di an actual prefix.
  • C) The prefix Di also means separate, as in Divide or Divorce. Perhaps wilson means to divide DeCaprio into polar and ice?
  • D) DeCaprio’s last name starts with the prefix ‘De’, meaning ‘down, off, down from, away from’. Wilson’s desire to make DeCaprio, down from Caprio to DiCaprio, Divide Caprio?

“Evidence shows that Greenland’s ice is not in a dramatic decline. In fact, the Greenland Surface Mass Balance (SMB) – an index used to measure sea-ice level – is at one of its highest levels in recorded history.”

This ought to be corrected. The SMB is not used to measure sea-ice level. The current graph does show that the ability of the ice sheet to accumulate mass from snowfall (less surface melting) is undiminished from the base period. This is a very good leading indicator, as I see it, that no acceleration of overall loss should be expected to be detected.

It is not in evidence that the slow loss of Greenland ice overall has stopped. I do wish NASA would update this data here. It is clear that it is not dramatic in any case. The data goes only until July of this year.

David, there is one readily-available Reality Check for Greenland Ice Sheet condition: during WWII a flight of P-38’s and one Bomber were forced to land on the Greenland ice sheet. In the 1990’s the flight was found, with sonar, and one of the P-38’s was extracted, by cutting a decline in the ice and taking off the wings and bringing it up. How deep was it buried? Comments range from 250 feet to 300 feet, but the best number is that it was (and its other flight airplanes still are) buried 268 feet below the current ice surface. Call me when the others become visible.

I don’t disagree about what is happening on the surface. I know about the “Glacier Girl” – great story. But it doesn’t answer the question about overall ice mass on Greenland. The marine loss is very large. The key point is that the ability to accumulate mass on the surface is obviously not diminished.

Alleged meltwater only occurs in the South Greenland glacial streams.
Everything about their alleged glacier meltwater is estimated, by people with conflict of interests regarding Greenland and sea level.

The simple fact is that Greenland cannot accumulate surface mass balance, if Greenland glaciers are melting enough to raise sea level.

A lot of that South Greenland glacial melt is actually estimated for sea ice. Melting sea ice can not contribute to sea level rise.

“The SMB is not used to measure sea-ice level”
That statement is correct.

SMB is accumulation less loss by melt and calving of icebergs off the glaciers.

It certainly does effect sea level but is not a measure of it.

Ummm; you mention “calving of icebergs off the glaciers” ; to the extent that the calving is from glaciers part of which are floating on the sea itself, is it not a bit more nuanced as far as “sea levels” are concerned?

https://co2coalition.org/quiz/2-the-melting-of-arctic-sea-ice-is-causing-sea-levels-to-rise/

Not clocked any instance when this has been mentioned vis a vis alleged rising sea levels – appreciate that this be more relevant to the Artic as a floating mass vs Antartica; I guess the devil is all in the detail and not the headlines? Where is the evidence of glaciers calving more in “recent” times? If that is the case, has the increased incidence been definitively correlated to sea levels…..who knows?

No, that is not correct. The mass loss by calving of glaciers is not included in the SMB. See the description here.

Examining rural station data and the USCRN, I’m finding that the heat has already peaked here, and it’s been quite a long time – 2003 in the west and 2006 in the central and eastern U.S. Who knows what will happen next? We could be on the doorstep of a new ice age and not even know it!

As opposed to what they think they know, of course.

Real-world data indicate no dangerous or unprecedented warming. There even has been a pause in the warming rate during short periods in the last two decades.
There is nothing happening in the Arctic ‘climate-wise’ that has not happened before in the 100 year instrumental record.
While that fact says nothing regarding the supposed effect human emissions may or may not be having in the Arctic over the past forty years it does show the warming is a non-event historically so far.

It’s come a bit cold here in the UK (Auntie B is losing her proverbial knickers) and now at 02:30UTC, and am in the wakey bit between Ye Firste Sleepe and Ye Seconde Sleepe.

Having a snoop around the Wunderground:
UK is a bit variable, the classically cold North is 4 and 5 Celsius warmer than the sunny South and not very significant showings of and UHI. Even the Heat Hell that is Heathrow is only 2 C warmer than anywhere else.

Central France is frigid but The Med is holding up mid to high teens
Then you venture into the Big Desert. Not many weather stations but there’s one in northern Chad at 20degs North, just south of Libya, and it’s showing now (02:42UTC), it’s showing minus 2 Celsius
There’s another where Niger meets Burkino Faso at13degs North, where The Sahel is really and its showing plus 2Celsius right now

Head west/southwest and you’re out of the desert and among some greenery in Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria and on the way is a station in northern Ghana at10degs North showing plus 25Celsius
Keep trucking west to the Atlantic and its low 20s Celsius all the way

Get my drift?
Deserts are cold places – despite having high temperatures
A warming atmosphere is a cooling world

Do not wish for cold, just on the off chance that your wish comes true.
Now if you persist in making deserts, with ploughs, chainsaws, fire, goats, Ammonium Nitrate and Glyphosate in the pursuit of Sugar to eat – that wish will come true.

Deserts make their own climate – climate does make nor define what a desert is.
Unless we/someone/anyone corrects that grotesque Cause & Effect error, we are truly doomed
