Edvard Munch’s The Scream painting targeted by climate change activists
Posted Yesterday at 12:33am
Climate activists have failed to glue themselves to Edvard Munch’s The Scream at the National Museum of Norway, according to police.
Key points:
- Police said they had three people “under control”
- The 1893 masterpiece was not damaged
- Activists said they targeted it because it was “Norway’s most famous painting”
Police said they had three people under their “control”.
A third person filmed the pair who tried to affix themselves to the painting, Norwegian news agency NTB said.
…
Environmental activists from the Norwegian organisation “Stopp oljeletinga” — Norwegian for Stop Oil Exploration — were behind the stunt.
…
“We are campaigning against Scream because it is perhaps Norway’s most famous painting,” activist spokeswoman Astrid Rem said.
“There have been lots of similar actions around Europe, they have managed something that no other action has managed: achieve an extremely large amount of coverage and press.”

The painting glass has obviously been sprayed with Teflon or something similar, to prevent glue from sticking – an obvious countermeasure in the face of ongoing climate activist vandalism and hooliganism.
If the climate activists had attended more school they might know how to defeat this countermeasure, without killing themselves with toxic fumes. But if they had received a decent science education, maybe they wouldn’t be climate activists in the first place.
It seems incredibly sad that museums are being forced to encase precious artworks in glass and teflon and whatever other countermeasures are required to defeat this climate activist scourge. One of the first things my art teacher taught me is glass and fixative and other measures dull the experience, by dimming the vibrant hilights of the painting. Thanks to this activist vandalism, and the required countermeasures, ordinary people are being denied the opportunity to fully appreciate the full glory of our cultural heritage.
finally a protest in the right country at least . norway is the saudi arabia of europe , but i don’t think many norwegians want to give up their trillion dollars of fossil fuel profits or give it away either . norway is an outstanding example of greenwashing . norway could single handedly contribute $100 billion to the poor countries of the world without even feeling it . they also have plenty of room for third world refugees in their sparsely populated highly protectionist country . socialistic countries are given a pass by the UN while UN anger is directed at countries in direct proportion to how capitalist a country is .
Absolute drivel.
Norway should be proud that it produces the fuel essential for modern civilisation and that protects the poorest and most vulnerable around the world.
The Norwegian Government leaves much to be desired in many respects but is, at least, only half barmy compared to most of the West.
yeah their new pipeline for gas to poland is accptable but russias are evil
lol
When was the last time Norway invaded someone?
And yes, Putin fits pretty much every definition of evil.

Oh. Well, then. That makes Norway as wicked as the communists running Russia. 😉
(and, since the ancestors of all the Norwegian heritage people in the U.S. and Canada were still in Norway at the time, and there are many, many, such descendants alive today, the U.S. and Canada owe Scotland a ton of reparations — per SLM (Scottish Lives Matter))
Que?
I’ve got Scottish ancestors from the Puritan sailing days arriving in the Colonies well before 1776.
One of them, survived the battle of Cullodan and arrived here as a British slave.
They worked hard on pioneering and settling this continent
hint: Some of them married Native Americans who forced them to settle.
Your sick and don’t know it.

Norway
Mainland Norway comprises an extensive range of natural variation, given its moderate size, including both terrestrial, marine, limnic and snow and ice ecosystems. Norway has a high mineral and bedrock diversity, and high diversity of landforms. Major landscape types include inland hills and mountains, inland valleys, inland plains, coastal plains, coastal fjords and coastal hills and mountains. Glaciated; mostly high plateaus and rugged mountains broken by fertile valleys; small, scattered plains; coastline deeply indented by fjords; arctic tundra only in the extreme northeast (largely found on the Varanger Peninsular). Frozen ground all year can also be found in the higher mountain areas and in the interior of Finnmark county. Numerous glaciers are also found in Norway.

Not exactly a country that can support a lot of people, which is one of the reasons given for Viking expansions of the late 8th century onwards
Actually, Russia is (or used to be) the Saudi Arabia of Europe. The Saudis pump 5X times as much oil as Norway pumps – every day. You want Norway to give $100 billion to poor countries? Insane. Without competent and honest government, and without a national commitment to free enterprise capitalism, poor countries will ALWAYS be poor countries, no matter how much money we give them.
“socialistic countries are given a pass by the UN while UN anger is directed at countries in direct proportion to how capitalist a country is .
Norway’s socio-economic model is free-market capitalism accompanied by a large welfare state. But many people too lazy to do any research THINK that Norway IS a socialist state.
”…they also have plenty of room for third world refugees in their sparsely populated highly protectionist country .”
Ever been to Norway in the winter? There is a very good reason why it is sparsely populated.
And therein is a perfect example of why a warmer climate is not a catastrophe. Think of how much more habitable areas there would be in places like Norway, Sweden, Canada, etc. if they weren’t frozen wastelands.
oops . my point was that norway is given a pass by green climate activists because the ff industry there is state owned and run , not capitalist . it isn’t the emissions that greens object to , it’s capitalism . and if they want countries who profit the most to pay the most they should go after norway ,
“if they had received a decent science education, maybe they wouldn’t be climate activists in the first place”
Absolutely
funny, and I think the protective coatings glass whatever were in place long before these clowns started up
keeps a lot of other contaminants etc off the surfaces
I thought they’d chosen it because of Mark Serreze and his 2015 “The Arctic is screaming” nonsense. /sarc
The authorities need to start locking these people up for extended periods of time. That’s how you fix this problem.
If you don’t lock them up, you exascerbate the problem.
The only reason this crap is happening is because it has been tolerated elsewhere.
Glue them to the inner walls of jail cells.
Lock them up until they can produce something of value for their country like Edvard Munch did. Anything of value at all. Too many young people think destruction is the way to progress.
It’s the way an anarchist thinks. Destroying everything you don’t like will make it better. I think they have a defective mental process.
Test. Test.
FYI — If you hover over “ABOUT” at the top of this page, then, click on “Test” in the drop-down, you can do all the testing you like (without annoying people like whoever gave you a -1 🙂)

While true, I suspect they don’t just put up glass they purchased at a hardware store. Glass in camera lens is specially selected and is coated with anti reflective material to minimize the effect it has on the final image. I always use a UV filter on my lens to reduce the risk of damage and to tone down the effect of UV on the final image. Some claim that putting a cheap filter on an expensive lens is counter productive but so far it appears the filters approach the same quality as the lens. Because they are flat, they cost much less to manufacture than a properly ground lens. I am not sure the average viewer even notices that glass seperates them from the painting.

These turds also struck the Vancouver Art Gallery.
By now, the authorities should have a fairly dependable list of members of these terrorist organizations. They should be intercepted at the door of the museum and not allowed inside. If caught with contraband to commit sabotage, they should be arrested.
It is long past time to designate all of these anarchist terrorist organizations as criminal conspiracies and terrorists and proactively arrest all of their leaders and financiers and supporters and any active members under RICO type laws as well as anti-terrorism laws. We know this will never happen because they are the paid and recruited foot soldiers of the NWO/WEF Globalists, and their mission of societal disruption has been sanctioned by our overlords.
We are getting real life reenactments of the burning of the Library of Alexandria and the hiding of the Dead Sea scrolls, etc. It reflects the same mental retardation from earlier eras and nonresponse from weak or approving authorities.
One of the activists is actually a Postdoctoral fellow in biology at NTNU – University of Trondheim, Norway. She says, among other things, that she is interested in species interactions, and how they influence community structure, ecosystem-level processes, and evolutionary dynamics.
The other activist is a student at the same university.
In other words, Ignorance cannot be pleaded here.
That leaves as a motive:
1. Money (or other reward).
2. Emotional or Brain Impairment.
3. Both.
Nah, it’d just number 2., I’m afraid.
That is buzzword mumbo jumbo. It’s meant to scare people off questions and pretend to be a scholar…
All this nonsense stops the second we look away. Who gives a crap what some pampered, over indulged, narcissistic snowflake is doing at a museum? Same goes with eco-loons blocking traffic in Britain. This is exactly how they stopped all the streakers at pro sports events in the US back in the 90s.
Of course, police arresting journalists covering these events is a completely different issue. Jailing a journalist for even an hour is infinitely more damaging than these faux protests.
We should also set sentencing standards for the faux protestors. I totally support a person’s right to protest. It’s a core foundation of democracy. But I’m also convinced we are giving attention to a fringe bunch of people with mental health issues who obsess over apocalyptic climate threats totally devolved from reality.
Sentence them like this – 1 day in jail for first offence, 2 days for second offence, 4 days for third offence, 8 days for fourth, 16 for fifth. By the time they are convicted the 10th time, they are looking at 18 months in jail. It will end then.
Good, but, I would do:
First offence: 1 month in jail.
Second: 1 year in prison.
Third: 10 years in prison.
I think you walk into the room, announce that you’re closing this portion of the exhibit for one month for decontamination, turn off the lights, and lock the door. Wait at least two days to re-enter.
I’m waiting for a loon using a nail gun.
Oil is good —
All I can say is that if I see any idiot trying this on they’ll get my boot up their ahhhhhz
