British Police Officer Injured in Just Stop Oil Traffic Chaos

Essay by Eric Worrall

Thankfully no serious injury, unlike two unlucky women who died in climate protest traffic chaos a few weeks ago. One of the dead women was a mother of four.

Essex police officer injured as Just Stop Oil protests continue on M25

Wednesday 9 November 2022, 9:19am

A police officer has been injured after being struck on the M25 as Just Stop Oil protests continue

The officer, who was riding a police motorcycle, was involved in a rolling roadblock after reports of a person being on the road.

During the roadblock, between junctions 26 for Loughton and 27 for the M11, there was a collision between two lorries and the officer.

Essex Police said the officer had not been seriously injured.

One person has been arrested on suspicion of causing a public nuisance.

In my opinion British climate protestors are causing deadly danger through their reckless endangerment of others.

I totally support the right of climate protestors to stage a public protest, to present their case, even if I think they are a joke. A free society tolerates law abiding clowns.

But these climate protestors are not well behaved, they are going well beyond simple public speech. Their reckless disruptive tactics are putting people in danger, in ways which in my opinion have already caused deaths, and which possibly just contributed to the injury of a police officer.

The sooner these hooligans are taken off the streets and locked up with long jail sentences, the better.

Climate protestors like Just Stop Oil are actually eroding support for climate alarmism because they are inconveniencing the public. Climate activists who use direct action are so deluded that they don’t realise that they are harming their own cause.

Do you really think they’re losing?

They’re shifting the Overton window and getting concessions from people who want it all just to go away.

And mine. But these idiots are so locked up in their own little worlds they don’t realise that they are destroying their own arguments.

I would just put them all on the Bass Rock with a couple of fishing lines and let them see just what they are asking the rest of us to do. I would boobytrap the lighthouse, though, in case they thought they could get in and try to use the bottled gas.

The Bass rock is a bit close to civilisation, you can see North Berwick from there. I think repopulating Mingulay which was inhabited for at least 2000 years until the 20th century proving that it can support humans so they’ll be fine

I would just put them all on the Bass Rock with a couple of fishing lines”

  • A) You really expect one of them is able to fish?
  • B) Make sure they’re hand lines. Preferably hand made hempen line.
  • C) You just know one of them will hook one of the others, then claim we tried to kill that person because of the lack of immediate emergency health care.
  • Ba) I find myself hoping they catch a large powerful fish teaching them that our ancestors were a lot more capable, skilled and tougher than they give them credit, (Hemp line pulled through the hand by a powerful fish will leave rope burns.)

I can hear it now as one of the non-fishing activists yells at the one who loses the fish, “I would have eaten that one!”

May they catch dogfish (a shark, often used in fish and chips) and green crabs, leaving them wondering how to eat these wild critters.

These nutters would starve to death, they are mostly vegan and almost completely unaquainted with manual labour.

Used to camp for the weekend at the Philadelphia Folk Festival just so I wouldn’t miss any events.

One year I brought a couple of pounds of properly cured actually smoked bacon as part of our food supply. Sunday morning, I cooked both pounds for our little group of family and friends.

Afterwards, I troweled up a piece of sod and disposed of the bacon grease. I was still holding the frypan when one of the two vegetarians, this was before “vegans”, camped next to us came over to beg some bacon grease and hopefully bacon.
The odor from cooking real bacon broke his will.

The first character that catches any fish/crab/critter and cooks it over a fire, the others will seriously reconsider their veganism or vegetarianism…

Of course, if they’re not bright enough to eat seaweed and fat along with their fish, they will still still starve. Avoiding fat is a bad idea.

There’s no real reaction to this. The CoP, the war, anything other is grabbing attention [of the media]

Their leader, Roger Hallam, is in Wandsworth Prison, but his loony disciples outwitted the plod by starting half an hour earlier than they had for previous disruptions.

Doh indeed.

If they really wanted to stop this disruption they could. But they won’t because it all adds to the “drip, drip” sense of doom.

But make no mistake, these people are middle-class doomsday cultists and they are at war with the general public.

Roger Hallam was an organic farmer in Wales but doesn’t seem to have been that good at it. He blamed this on climate change and now lives in London so he can get to the M25 more easily.

Yup. Often the case.
Take the words and accent of the young girl/child activist who spoke during the ‘tomato soup’ protest all over the Van Gogh painting. American ears may not have noticed the difference, but it was clear in the UK that her parents had made sure she went to a very “nice” school.

If they commit crimes or endanger others, they ought to be arrested & locked up. There’s a reason why they create havoc in places like the UK……they know they can get away with it with no consequences.

I haven’t heard about any of these protests in Italy lately….seems like the Italians lack that kind of “patience” and just rip their hands off the street and drag them off the roads. And that wasn’t the police but rather motorists.
In many parts of the US it wouldn’t go over too well either!

Turn ’em all into speed bumps. That’s my first thought. I’ve no patience left for the “mostly peaceful protestors” of any variety. Once they step into interfering in other folks lives, they have given up their right to be taken seriously. That is the thug mentality which they are displaying and needs to be stopped. Legally, if at all possible.
Just sayin’.

Will probably just lead to a slap on the wrists, even if the police can be bothered.

What is needed is a civil suite for damages/inconvenience. It doesn’t have to be huge or ruin them for life, just enough to take what little they have or severely embarrass their parents who may pay for them.

And we’ll spread out our kindness to all who our love now deserve
Some of you are going to die –
Martyrs of course to the freedom that I shall provide

The reason these forking WAPs are disrupting traffic is because there’s only a handful of them, and they don’t have the backing to stage a protest of thousands outside Westminster where it properly belongs.

In many U.S. cities the police are learning not to be anywhere near those areas, or they will be attacked or lose their jobs. That’s if they still have a job in the defund movement with predatory employers at city hall and DA office.

Some people just enjoy fighting.

I worked with a man (an ex-Marine) who was normal and highly talented in every way except that he loved a good fight. I went with him on a visit to another company. We had successfully concluded our business and were just social chatting with a kindly elderly woman who was our counterpart when out of the blue for no apparent reason he picked a senseless fight with her. Another time he had an enormous argument with the representative of another company. I was sent out to the other company to talk to the other company and find out what happened. They sent a psychologist to sit in on the meeting. The dispute was very quickly and effortlessly cleared up and the psychologist left the meeting after ten minutes. The problem was that this guy wanted disagreements and arguments and enjoyed fights. This guy transferred offices and he fought with his new boss and with his co-workers until he finally quit.

I’ve read that many of the most fanatical Communists in Germany in the 1920’s switched to being fanatical Nazis in the 1930’s. The point was not the ideology. They just liked brawling.

I think that is what it is with these climate protestors. They certainly don’t know the science. But they want a good fight.

Communist to Nazi is not really a big shift, left-wing right-wing BS notwithstanding. They are both dictatorial, atheistic, micro-managing political extremists. Communists had better PR departments, Nazis/Fascists were better managers, both had no respect for the common folk they pretend to care about.

Some people just enjoy the fight. The cause doesn’t matter much. I’ve read that some of the most fanatical fighting Communists in the 1920’s in Germany switched in the 1930’s to be fanatical Nazis. It was the brawling they wanted and one ideology was as good as another.

I think that is the case with these Stop Oil people. They certainly haven’t studied the science or they would realize how weak the science is. And they obviously haven’t thought through the implications of not using fossil fuels. They don’t care. They just want to fight, to smash, to cause trouble.

But the police need to attend the protests in order to protect the “protesters” from the public who are quite capable of performing the task of keeping the roads open. Many police “services” do not even bother to attend burglaries, but others are ranked even lower! Police inaction in their selective refusal to enforce laws, and police support of the lawbreaking protesters has made the trust of the public at large very fragile. If journalists were allowed to report critically, the dwindling public support for the police would vanish completely. In a civil society where policing is by consent, the abuse of that consent endangers the tenuous authority the police still have.

Under the Terrorism Act 2006 the following points are used to define terrorism. I’d suggest one or two of these could be used against these nutjobs to bang them up for a long time

serious violence against a person;serious damage to property;endangering a person’s life (other than that of the person committing the action);creating a serious risk to the health or safety of the public or a section of the public; andaction designed to seriously interfere with or seriously to disrupt an electronic system.

The two women did not die because of the protests. They died because of a traffic accident.
There is no indication that the protests caused the traffic accident.

In this case the policeman was only there because of the protest, so the accident could be indirectly lined to the protest. But it’s still a stretch.

If you want to object to the protests, object on real grounds.
They are costly, annoying and inconvenient for those who have no say on the issues concerned.
There are good reasons to object to the protests.

But don’t make stuff up.

The indication is indeed that the women were diverted from the highly congested motorway onto a heavily congested alternative route made more dangerous by the extra traffic diverted around the protests. The deaths are indeed thought to be an indirect consequence of the protests. Arguing that the economic damage caused directly and indirectly by the protests will increase poverty, and that poverty is associated with shorter life expectancy, and therefore early deaths would be the sort of argument the protesters would come up with themselves! That would be a tenuous link, but the cause and effect of protests leading indirectly to accidents is not.
