“No More Drilling”: Climate Crusader Joe Biden Announces the End of Oil and Gas

Essay by Eric Worrall

“No more drilling. There is no more drilling! I haven’t formed any new drilling.” Is there any doubt remaining, about why Americans are experiencing gasoline pump price pain?

Biden Shouts “No More Drilling. There is no more drilling!” at New York Rally

Michael Shellenberger

For months, President Joe Biden and members of his cabinet have claimed that they are no obstacle to expanded oil and gas production in the United States. On June 21 Biden said, “This idea that they don’t have oil to drill and to bring up is simply not true. This piece of the Republicans talking about Biden shutting down fields is wrong.” On June 22, Biden said, I know my Republican friends claim, we’re not producing enough oil and I’m limiting oil production. Quite frankly, that’s nonsense.”

And on November 2, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm tweeted, “Disinfo about @POTUS’ energy agenda is being used to scare/mislead Americans while industry cashes in. The facts are clear: This Admin outpaced the previous Admin on crude oil production + oil/gas well approvals while also making historic investments in a clean energy transition.”

But a little over two hours ago, at a rally for New York Governor Kathy Hochul, President Biden shouted, “No more drilling. There is no more drilling! I haven’t formed any new drilling.” (Timestamp: 1:32:03)

This “no more drilling” announcement comes fresh on the heels of Biden’s end of coal announcement. Michael Shellenberger’s article links to a more complete video of Biden’s speech.

Surely nobody in their right mind can believe the USA could abruptly shut down all coal, and all oil and gas exploration and drilling, and hope to maintain prosperity and survive as a nation.

The White House staff appear to have been covering for President Biden’s apparent mental deterioration, by issuing press releases which accuse critics of maliciously misinterpreting or twisting Biden’s words.

All I can say is, try talking your way out of this one, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

Then how come the oil industry is on track in 2023 to exceed the 2019 peak (accordiang to Energy Information Administration)

The word Biden used was ‘ no more NEW drilling’, which is tapping new fields.

I think hes wrong about drilling in NEW fields, but thats what he was elected on. ( sad)

At least Trump promised more coal and didnt deliver ( its up to the Coal companies but you get the point )

He said “no more drilling”, twice. Clean out the ears.

He did try to save it by saying “no more new drilling”, but honestly, what type of moron can believe that oil and gas production can go up, and prices can ever go down if there’s no more new drilling?

Biden is saying what his lib Dem base of voters wants to hear, because he and the Dems have come to the conclusion that they already lost the persuadable independents long ago, and their only hope in this election is to turn out their base. It’s a forlorn hope, of course.

Yes, Graham. As some sensible poster commented recently, they think they can have their cake and eat it. If Apple wasn’t able to sell affordable iPhones to the mass market then there wouldn’t be any iPhones.

The same is true of jet-fueled mass transport and other industries. Without support from the base of the pyramid, the apex cannot exist.

Irrespective of politics, it’s not just the very rich who think they will still be OK when the reckoning comes. The whole green lobby thinks so too.

Despite most of us leading a far more comfortable life than any Medieval King, there are still people who think it would be not-too-bad to return humanity to a pre-industrial age as long as they kept their own treasure hoard.
It would not be any such thing, of course. even if they did keep their treasure. No central heating. No efficient transport. No safe foods or fresh water. No advanced healthcare, etcetera.
It ought to take peoples breath way at what Biden is advoctaing for.

OK, now I’m rambling.

Existing wells have limited capacity. Their output basically starts falling off the minute you start extracting. while you may see a temporary increase in well production based on demand, it cannot last without new wells being brought on line.

It’s exactly like wind/solar. You simply cannot grow reliable power generation by killing coal, nuclear, and nat gas generation and replacing it with unreliable generation. If you want to grow reliable generation there is only one option. New reliable generation.

Duane

Drilling is performed all the time in existing oil fields. Drilling is not fields. Individual wells get exhausted within a relatively short timeframe, requiring new wells in the same field.

The intelligence of the electorate generally seems to be on the slide, based on what policies we are prepared to vote for. Reality has taken a back seat – it’s still there, always will be, but for now it has been forgotten. We are hurtling along in a cloud of luxury beliefs and fake virtue towards a terrible destination.

Where will it all end, I wonder? I have always been optimistic that we will see sense, somehow create a soft landing out of this madness. But every time it looks like there is a chance to slow down, we instead go faster. There is only one control on this bus of Western democracies: an accelerator. You can push it down, but lift your foot off and it stays stuck where it is.

Biden is the ultimate quote for the day man.
Today he is clearly saying no new drilling . Yesterday he was saying or more correctly his press secretary was saying Biden is the guy responsible for record oil and gas production.
The day before that he was saying no more filthy coal we can do everything with wind turbines and solar arrays.
The take away from all this is the Democrats tell their own supporters thy are destroying the fossil fuel industry, while trying to also tell their Republican opposition voters they are responsible for record oil and gas because they know without energy supply the economy is dead.
Maybe the Democrat speech writers haven’t got memories longer than 24 hours? The voters have though, and its the voters paying double the price to full up their fuel tanks with gasoline, that will decide the fate of this shambolic administration in the USA.

Next week he’ll be announcing a program to subsidize down comforters and winter jackets.

Comforters and winter jackets made from Saudi oil derivatives using electricity generated by Saudi oil.

So, what is the true objective?

Slo-Jo makes it official, “I’ve joined the Luddites!

“If anything disturbs me, or makes a convenient scapegoat for a doomsday fad, lez ban it!”

Attached is a cartoon image of their 19th century legendary leader, Ned Ludd, with acolytes gleefully destroying factories in the background.

So I woke up to this headline this morning and can’t wait to get out to see what the gas prices are today. Just in time for election day, too.

One of H. L. Mencken’s best:

“As democracy is perfected, the Office of President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

He told the truth. He said it out loud, in public and on the record. Biden must be really going senile if he can’t remember to hide the true agenda.

He can’t have it both ways. He can’t strangle the oil and coal industry and claim it’s someone else,s fault. And claim there is no problem.

Mr. Olen: Here in USA, we’re in the process of finding out. PRes. Brandon and his advisers evidently believe that he can have it both ways, and they know the press will not notice the contradiction. The White House clearly does not care if it is pointed out, so long as the press stays in.

No fair judging Jumpin’ Joe Biden by the actual words he says. They must be filtered through a Joe Biden magic decoder ring to find out what he meant to say. If you do not have such a ring, you must wait for his affirmative action spokeswoman to be asked about what Jumpin; Joe actually meant by Peter Doocy — no one else will ask. Then the spokeswoman will sidestep the question or tap dance instead of answering,

Bidet has to be the nastiest, grouchiest POTUS we have ever had! People complained about Trump’s mean tweets but I can’t recall Trump ever attacking half of this country’s electorate and calling them enemies. He attacked other politicians and public figures, but never called people who vote and support Dems enemies. Obama had his “bitter clingers” speech, and vowed to skyrocket electricity prices and kill coal. But, those were campaign speeches and at least he had the sense to not do that sort of thing while he was POTUS. I am no fan of Obama, but at least he acted a bit more presidential that what is in the White House right now! Trump wasn’t always presidential either, but hey, his policies worked.
This senile old goat (and yes, dementia can cause a person to pop off with all sorts of nasty insults and digs that said person would have never said before they had dementia) is up there at the top of the list of worst POTUS’s ever!
What kind of leader tells his people that he is determined to return their standard of living back to the 18th century? That he wants the US to be a third world country? That he wants US citizens (and everyone else living here who aren’t citizens….if there’s no electricity they will also be sitting in the dark with everyone else!) to suffer and possibly die?

All I have to say is I hope that when tomorrow begins, in the pre-dawn light, the blood red moon of the lunar eclipse will truly be a symbolic bad omen to the Democratic party. Blood red for the (hopefully) red tsunami that has been building for the last couple of years….

I think the 25th amendment requires action by the Congress. If it is republican, the republicans have control over that, they may decide it is in the country’s best interest to keep Biden in office with the legislative stalemate, until after 2024.

“Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm tweeted, “Disinfo about @POTUS’ energy agenda is being used to scare/mislead Americans while industry cashes in.”

Industry will sell at a price to make a profit.

If the government deliberately enforces a reduction in the supply of an essential product with a very inelastic demand curve then prices will rise. Sharply. Oil companies are happy to sell less product for the same, or increased, profits. Their behavior is predicted by simple economics text books.

That the same politicians are publicly committing to making an essential industry extinct, is the paradise of financial speculators and/or those with good inside industry knowledge.

Of course many of them will be wholly innocent, but I’m sure it doesn’t take much of a cynic to expect Nancy Pelosi’s husband will still maintain an outstanding investment performance.

No doubt Biden and all the other dream world-occupying enviro-activists have a number of viable alternatives to fossil fuels. Evidently, he’s forgotten that as the US started closing old coal plants, it didn’t replace them with undependable wind and solar, but with high-efficiency low-emissions gas plants. Likewise with Japan when it started abandoning its nuclear plants after the Fukushima disaster. Once again, it bypassed wind and solar and went back to coal-fired generation stations, 22 of which are currently under construction. Meanwhile China isn’t giving a second thought to the unrealistic demands of COP-27 and is building 43 new coal plants. India plans to double its coal consumption by 2040, while Vietnam plans to increase its coal imports for at least the next 13 years, and on and on. So if Biden and the rest of the climate activists were half-awake they’d note all this and stop being foolish about energy-generation sources.
