Here is the Washington Post article (Web | PDF) by the Capital Weather Gang’s Matthew Cappucci about a new study in Geophysical Research Letters.
Note the certainty of the headline (above) and opening paragraphs (below), including the certain attribution to “humans”, a synonym for manmade emissions of greenhouse gases.
Now compare that certainty with the last paragraph of the study’s analysis, especially the highlighted portion.
Note the incongruity… Cappucci’s false presentation of certainty vs. the study authors’ clear admission of uncertainty.
Unfortunately, Cappucci seems to be a committed climate propagandist working at a propaganda outfit committed to the climate hoax. Since our last clash, he blocked me on Twitter.
The WaPo masthead reads “Democrats Dies in Darkness”… especially when you leave the inconvenient truths buried in the paywalled study.
In the UK we have just been informed that it will take 12 months of above average rainfall to top up our water supplies. It looks like no matter how hard the media push the global warming meme, the weather just does not respond!

The simplistic mindset of the Alarmists’ equates warming with drying. There is no such fundamental association. Warmer air is capable of holding MORE moisture. How and when it releases that moisture is a function of temperature difference between the warm, moist air and and other air it runs into. This often occurs when the warmer art rises into cooer air with less total moisture content. When the warmer air cools its dew point, it will look for opportunities to condense and fall as rain, snow or hail. The dew point will be higher for warm wet air than it typically is for cooler, drier air.
“Climate” temperatures as a single factor will, have little effect on rainfall frequency, timing or amount. Just another stupid and unscientific blabber from what is really a religion, not a science at all.

This “warmer air’s ability to hold more water” chorus of unsound attribution is on constant replay. But it is also true that the atmosphere rejects water vapor at rates of energy transformation thousands of times more intense than the low-single-digit W/m^2 incremental static warming effect of GHGs. Rainfall at one inch per hour represents a 17,600 W/m^2 conversion of the latent heat of water vapor into motion, work, and heating of the atmosphere.
And there is a ready supply of very dry air at altitude and from the poles to displace the warmer, more humid air at the surface and closer to the equator.

After a month of what England would call a drought ( no rain for 3 or 4 days at a time), finally rained Thursday here in the Panhandle. The rain was definitely wetter than normal. Maybe the weather god was making up for lost time.

What it all boils down to, for those who just born yesterday (or the day before) is that, in the WINTER TIME, (Northern hemisphere) things tend to get QUITE COLD! Conversely, in the Summer months (again Northern hemisphere) it tends to get quite HOT, some places more so than others! No amount of graph manipulations can obscure these facts!

Critically low water levels in Mississippi and Colorado rivers ..
The Allegheny River (NY & PA), the Wabash (IN & Il), the Ohio River, Tennessee, and others are seasonal recipients of precipitation from the remnants of Atlantic storms (hurricanes). When such storms do not happen the flows in all the rivers fall.
The Colorado River issue is different.

The authors compared rainfall over two periods — 1951 to 1980 and 1991 to 2020 — to see how patterns evolved.
Without a very good explanation and justification for using just those two exact periods’ data to compare, this paper is junk.
(Note: I haven’t seen the entire paper).

It seems to me that if one is going to blame recent rainfall increases on warmer temperatures, one would have to show data that recent temperatures would also have increased. Given the recent pause in temperature increases, that would be quite a feat.
Rainfall is NOT increasing everywhere, although the official, (human-fiddled) global picture claims it is increasing.

My guess is that about half the cities in the world have decreasing rainfall, half increasing rainfall. What mechanism, like alleged CO2 global warming, allows such long term and obvious exceptions as Melbourne? Where in my graph is there a change in trend that folks could say is caused by CO2?
