As I have written many times before, the US government is legally obligated to hold annual auctions for oil & gas leases in Gulf of Mexico and under other Federal lands and waters. Thus far, the Biden maladministration has utterly flouted the law, holding only one Gulf of Mexico lease sale in November 2021 (Sale 257), to avoid contempt of court charges against the Secretary of the Interior. This lease sale was unlawfully voided by a corrupt Obama judge. Some of this damage was undone by Joe Manchin’s Inflation Increasing Act. The legislation ordered the Department of the Interior to immediately honor the results of Lease Sale 257, hold additional lease sales and to implement a new Five Year Leasing Program for 2023-2028, which they were legally required to complete by June 30, 2022.
Last week, the Interior Department awarded leases to most of the high bidders in Lease Sale 257. Hopefully, they will continue to obey this part of the law by approving exploration and drilling plans in a timely manner. They have not announced plans to hold any further lease sales under they existing Five Year Leasing Program. However, they have issued a draft for a new program, which includes an option to hold no lease sales. They have opened the plan to public comment. I have no doubt that the Biden maladministration is banking on getting thousands of comments demanding that no more offshore lease sales be held… because… climate change… And then kowtowing to the Climatariat.
The National Offshore Industries Association (NOIA) is encouraging sane Americans to submit comments, supportive of continued offshore oil & gas leasing.

The NOIA email is targeted toward energy industry employees; however, commenting is open to all U.S. residents. The LINK has a pre-written comment for those who wish to save time. The NOIA comment is fine as is; although, it can be deleted by those wishing to submit comments in their own words (preferable, in my opinion). Speaking of Rather:
In the 1st video, Rather sets Bush-1 up, inviting him to be part of an interview/profile on his positions/agenda ahead of the upcoming elections. Rather asks for it to be live, so that the president can’t back out when he hits him with the surprise.
Instead, of the promised interview, he does the complete opposite….. a very personal, political hit piece on him the entire time to try to keep him from getting elected. Just listen to how rudely he ends the interview.

This was back in the days when journalists actually had more integrity but Rather was an exception.
Arrogant, biased and very political. Great talent but not able to control his flaws and hatred of republicans, which sometimes affected his work.
Listen to him manufacture a convincing sounding story-complete lie- for why he walked off the air because CBS let a lowly sports competition, a tennis tournament(that wasn’t even the finals) run into “HIS” almighty news segment at 6:30pm which triggered a temper tantrum.

Why are those stories above personal to me?
I was the chief meteorologist for the CBS affiliated station here-WEHT from 1982-1993. WEHT switched to ABC shortly after I left.
After we finished our first 30 minute local news segment, at 5pm Central time, we went directly to Rather’s national news. When he finished, we did our 6pm news.
Our station did not have a 5pm news the night that Rather walked off for the same reason that he walked off. CBS called the shots.
At least for everybody but Primadonna Dan.
That should have been VP Bush at the time, not president.
Also, an objective person can’t help but be very impressed with how brilliant that Dan Rather was and an elite, accomplished communicator.

Dan Rather was also responsible for publishing the obviously false Air National Guard papers that he used to try and scuttle Bush the Younger’s presidential campaign.
Even after everyone else involved had admitted that they papers were fake, Dan was still proclaiming that they “hadn’t been proven false”.

Johnson cheated in every election he ever entered starting when he ran for student body president at Southwest Texas State Teachers College and continuing all the way to the U.S. Senate.

He’s also trying to make himself look like the saviour fro the USA, by inching prices down (ever so little) just before the next election, in hopes of gaining enough votes to stay in office, and keep Trump out!
If most comments sent in are word-for-word the same all of them will be labled as a computer driven scam and ignored, so it is vital that every comment is different in some way. It is however very possible they will be ignored anyway, so maybe they should be copied to some independent body who can veryfy the numbers..
I modified the standard post and deleted all the references to climate change. Additionally I posted comments re how oil powers society in an incredible number of ways.

One of the required fields is a five-digit postal zip code. I don’t know if it will accept non-US zip codes.
Do you know if they’d check to see if the zip code was for, say, a hotel in the USA somewhere? Those zipcodes are fairly easy to find.
These days… They’d send the FBI after you for disagreeing with them.

I for one won’t comment in favor since I do not want the FBI at my door with a swat team at 6AM. I don’t respond to polls, and no longer display political campaign sings in my yard. I will remain a silent deplorable threat to democracy. I never thought we would experience fascism in this country, but here we are.

Any student/nerd of history should be seeing the signs and shaking their heads at how the 1930s are repeating.
As a history nerd, I was always curious on how the boring and correct Germans could evolve into a fascist mob in such a short period of time. Now, having witnessed the same happen in front of my eyes in less than a decade, I am no longer puzzled.
I was reading an article yesterday about a man who had run over a teenager after a political argument. His reason was that the boy was an “extreme conservative”.
The president of the United States recently stated, and repeated it several times, that those who support Trump are traitors to the US. Most of the Democrat leaders as well as most of the major media quickly agreed with him.
“They” want a Civil War II sooo badly…
As well as a large number of clueless Dem voters, it seems! If it’s horrible enough and directed at conservatives, they will believe it all, hook, line and sinker! But, if it’s based on FACTS and refers to a Democrat/liberal, they will call it a conservative conspiracy!
And once again, the usual suspects make up excuse after excuse for why Biden (or any leftist for that matter) should be required to actually obey the law.

The DOJ and FBI only go after Republicans.
Currently, Germany & others are shuttering metal operations since they
use a lot of energy. This will create a shortage of material available
for manufacturers who create necessary products that we use daily as
well as those we need to replace items that wear out, like vehicles,
medical equipment, freezers …- essentially a supply chain problem.
In normal circumstances, other companies would produce more of these
products to fill those needs where supply is lacking. But with this
PLANNED global energy shortage, no one anywhere will have the power
available to do that. This will cause prices to skyrocket on those
items thus keeping inflation high while most economies will be in a
recession due to overall lower production.
If I’m reading this right, that means even though Europe is now facing
the worst of the situation, the rest of us will possibly face shortages,
too, as well as skyrocketing prices. Since no one has excess energy to
fill the gaps, are we in for a “train wreck” like none we’ve ever seen
before & won’t be able to pull out of?
I hope I’m missing something & am wrong. I haven’t seen this discussed
yet as all the focus has been just on Europe’s home heating problem & not
the effects of shutting down businesses & potential problems from spillover
to the rest of the world.

It’d definitely put their economy on fire & that may be why they’re
buying as much energy as they can in preparation for that event. But
do they have enough capacity for all of the shortages? Or worse
yet, what if they withhold critical items like Vlad cutting off
Europe? The thought of relying on China, especially if Taiwan, etc.,
gets heated up, sounds like a repeat of the European/Russian
situation.
You are correct. Last week VW announced they had resold gas they bought forward as a hedge for their operations at a €400m profit. That is gas they won’t now be using in their factories, which will shut or go on short time working. The announcement did cause a big fall in prices because the market understood that industrial demand destruction does free up supply, reducing the need for physical imports. Economic implosion is in progress.
Other raw materials requiring high energy inputs such as paper, brick and glass will also be affected. Construction including house building will be severely affected. The effects will multiply through supply chains, making covid economic dislocation seem like a walk in the park that you weren’t allowed to take. It will also hit the Chinese economy hard, as their export markets will crater because noone will be able to afford to maintain imports given their lack of income.
A global recession that can only be countered by getting natural gas prices back to normality by producing lots more to replace Russia dependendence. Biden’s actions in preventing that are extremely damaging. The danger becomes that the US no longer produces sufficient gas to keep its export LNG plants at capacity and meet domestic demand. That means the plants will bid higher to keep running, pushing up domestic prices towards global levels, in turn shuttering US industry and spreading poverty through much higher energy bills. Attempts to prevent this by limiting exports will be seen as deeply damaging, and almost an act of war among customers for US LNG.

direction & to start moving them in the right direction. With the
artificial limit on energy production, the supply is stuck in one spot,
with little ability to change the economic situation. The economy can
easily go too far in one direction with no brake to slow it down & off
the cliff we go!

Joe Biden could successfully argue that he has no ability, which would excuse him from his oath, but then the 25th amendment should kick in. But he can’t argue with Section 3.
He’ll argue that there is a penumbra that modifies section 3 so that it only applies to laws the president agrees with.

Weekly US ending stocks for distillate fuel oil(heating oil-especially used in the Northeast).
This is the fuel with the lowest stocks right now by a wide margin and the Northeast could face severe shortages and price volatility this Winter from bad decisions by refiners.

For this time of year, early September, heating oil stocks were slightly lower than this just 3 times using EIA records. In 2000, 1996 and 1985. In 2022, we are just barely above the record lows for this week in September.
What must have happened is the refineries that use crude to make RB and HO( RB does NOT have low stocks) are churning out much more RB and are NOT restocking the HO like they always do every year…… leaving the heating oil market vulnerable this upcoming heating season. This smells like politics.

Without knowing what RB is (I’m guessing HO is heating oil) it’s hard to say if this is politics, economics or chemistry.
However if it is politics, it’s appropriate, since the northeast has been at the forefront in terms of fighting against the use of fossil fuels in all it’s forms. They should be happy to be on the front lines this winter.
