Submit nominations for the committee reviewing the 5th National Climate Assessment
The National Academies’ Board on Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (BASC) and Board on Environmental Change and Society (BECS) are currently soliciting nominations for a new ad hoc committee to conduct an independent technical review of the 5th National Climate Assessment (NCA5) draft report, which is expected to be made available for review in late fall 2022. The NCA5 is intended to provide an up-to-date evaluation and summary of the current and projected impacts of climate change on the United States, with detailed discussion of regional effects.
The National Academies is seeking individuals to serve on the committee with expertise in key areas addressed in the NCA5, including climate science and mitigation, human and environmental health, systems science, environmental justice, tribal and indigenous communities, ecosystems and biodiversity, and agriculture. Nominations are due by Monday, August 1, 2022.

We can’t have us forgetting that we are all doomed if we don’t do what we say about the climate. Scepticism and doubters must be eliminated.

Yes, CO2 levels are going up, but temperatures are going down.
How do alarmists explain this discrepancy in their claim that increased CO2 means increased temperatures? Answer: They can’t explain it.
This graph starting at 2012 is cherry picking. Temperature is not going down.
Start the same graph at 1975 and you will see a totally different picture.
From 1975 to pre El Nino 2015, temperature was increasing.
After this El Nino to now, temperature did not decrease or increase.
Start the graph in the 1930’s and you will get a better perspective on the present day:

The 1930’s were warmer than 1998, and that makes them warmer than 2016, too.
So, at least in the United States, we have been in a temperature downtrend since the 1930’s, and if you look at unmodified regional surface temperature charts from around the world, you will see they show pretty much the same temperature profile as the U.S. chart, i.e., it was just as warm or warmer in the Early Twentieth Century as it is today.
Satellite era temperatures (1979 to the present) don’t tell the whole story. There was life before the satellite era.

has all these graphs and many more. Take a look. They reveal that today’s global temp is cold, very cold, in comparison to the temps of the geologic past. That fact is undisputed.
The normative temperature of Planet Earth over the past ~250 million years is much warmer than today. Much much warmer. And yet here we are, on Earth, which has not burned up, despite millions and millions of years of much much warmer temperatures.
Makes you think: what a pathetically tiny warmth we are experiencing in recent years, how utterly minor in the grand scheme of things climatic. And to be so freaked out by a degree or two as to monkey wrench civilization over it. Alarmists are irrational paranoiacs with zero concept of past climates, no doubt about it.
Why not start 2,000 years ago when the Roman harbour at that time was recently found to be two and a half miles inland from the Kent coast.

So people here would rather just sit and whinge rather than taking some action like flooding the nomination process? If that is the case then they forfeit their right to complain about the outcome from the assessment.
What in the Blue Hill Observatory is “environmental justice” doing in a list of scientific disciplines???? It is a political stance not a field of inquiry. Why not also include gender identity, Marxist economics. and basket weaving while you’re at it?

Talk about a disconnect between the Brandon administration and reality. The only place there is a climate emergency is between his ears (and the ears of his climate czar).
It’s incredible how all the evidence which belies the “emergency” is being suppressed and ignored.
