A new POLITICO Morning Consult Global Sustainability Poll reveals frustration from citizens that they are being left to take on climate action on their own, when they believe governments and the companies with the most resources (which also tend to bear the most responsibility for carbon emissions) should shoulder the burden.

Surprisingly, climate may be the only issue where President Joe Biden is getting higher marks from the right than from the left. That’s not necessarily because Republican voters are concerned that Biden is doing enough, but because they’re satisfied that he is legislatively constrained.
Biden’s base, meanwhile, is furious. Though the administration has made climate action a centerpiece of its rhetoric, executive action and legislative agenda, 80 percent of Americans who labeled themselves left-leaning said that the Biden administration is doing too little to address climate change, including 64 percent of Democrats surveyed.
The United States is home to the largest ideological divide on climate action. Among Americans, 97 percent of left-leaning voters expressed concern about climate change, compared to 51 percent of right-leaning voters.

Politico is saying 97% of left leaning voters think climate change is a problem.
If I thought we were in the midst of an existential crisis, and I knew lots of people thought the same, I wouldn’t be sitting on my butt waiting for President Biden to take action, or waiting for absolutely everyone to agree there is a problem. I would be out there fundraising in Democrat and Green Party branch meetings, or anyone else who would listen, to gather the money needed, to build wind turbines and solar panels or whatever other infrastructure is required to solve the problem.
But for some reason this isn’t happening. Or if it is happening, the money being raised is not enough to make an impact.
Are left wing voters more concerned about ensuring everyone pays their fair share, than saving the world?
Or do they say they are worried about climate change, but don’t really mean it?
I’d love to know the answer. If you are a climate concerned left wing voter, please make an effort to explain what is preventing the vast number of left wing voters who think climate change is a pressing issue, from getting off their butts and sorting the problem out amongst themselves.
Because we’re talking about around half the country, if the Politico survey is any guide.
Surely that many people between them have enough resources and initiative to at least make a start, to lead everyone else by example.
Where did I see that 97% figure before?
If half the nation swings center to left then half swings center to right.
If 97% of the Center to Left believe there is a problem then no government action would be required.
Fully 48% of the population would be personally acting to eliminate THEIR use of fossil energy and divest themselves of petrochemical derived goods.
They would
trade in(no trade in value)JUNK their brand new ICE Lexus or Mercedes or Lamborghini for an all electric Prius or Leaf or even Tesla.They would install Solar on their rooftops with wall mounted battery back-up and immediately sever from Grid Sourced electricity.
They would throw out their new gas appliances and install all electric heating and cooking.
They would cease using any and all petrochemical derived goods like…

I think the survey is a total joke, but thought it would be funnier to play “what if it is real”, to illustrate the sheer absurdity of the situation.
If they were sincere, they would never be able to read or reply to any post. They would not be using electricity. They would neither be using a computer nor a phone.
The best they could do is to try to avoid freezing in the dark and starving because they would not know how to hunt or gather food.

But isn’t that always the case with modern Progressivism? It’s always up to someone else to do the real work, and to pay for it.
One of the first things you (should) learn when studying economics: What people say they think is next to utterly meaningless. It’s what they do with their own money that expresses their real opinion. When measured that way, what they’re saying is that they’re for consumerism as usual.
I have no doubt that many if not most of the left are “concerned” about climate change. But only as long as they don’t have to make any meaningful sacrifice themselves.

That is one thing I have noticed regarding leftists. They see lots of problems in the world. But they aren’t willing to do anything themselves, or to make any personal sacrifices to solve any of these problems. They honestly seem to believe that voting for a politician who promises to force someone else to something about the problem is all they need to do.

And notice also that leftists never offer to persuade or convince everyone of the rationality / merits / benefits of their proposals, instead they always resort to regulation / compliance / enforcement / penalties as their instinctive means of securing acceptance.

Well, I certainly believe in climate change, especially after studying the Milankovitch Cycles. That is why we moved to Florida from New Hampshire back in 2016. I didn’t care for the obvious start of the cooling trend after several thousand years of warmth.

If they seriously believe emissions are going to lead to disaster, why are they not picketing the Chinese embassies? Why do they care so passionately about reducing the US 5 bilion tons a year, or the UK 450 million, but not the Chinese 10 billion and rising?

Here’s a shortcut for you, based on prior observations: Politico is biased trash, lies, and propaganda, thus worthless. Done and done.
The quoted conclusions have all the earmarks of coming from a “push poll”.
(E.g. – “Would you rather pay for Climate Action yourself or would you prefer the government funding?“)
Donuts to Dollars (remember when the values were the other way ’round?) they never asked if the respondents if Climate Action was necessary, (and if so how would they rank the issue on their current items of concern).

It’s all virtue signaling noise. I firmly believe that CAGW forecasts are vastly inflated, yet we are the only family in the neighborhood that hangs our laundry to dry in seasonable weather. In fact, we have to hide our line drying behind a six-foot fence, as it’s illegal in my village.

Using the same information I take a different view. It is true that the vast majority on the left aren’t happy with our progress addressing catastrophic anthropogenic global warming. I agree with them we haven’t changed the average global temperature one little bit. But it is not for a lack of trying. I can’t even imagine how much money has been squandered chasing after a fraction of a degree cooler temperature. Add up the subsidies given to green companies, the tax relief to green companies, the tax relief to citizens, the regulations constraining fossil fuels and nuclear, the added cost for fossil fuel and nuclear to be on stand by for unreliable wind and solar and on and on. The clear result is less fossil fuel and nuclear, higher energy prices, higher prices in general and a whole lot of wasted money only to slide backwards. The position we are in now doesn’t prove we haven’t done enough, it shows that no matter how much more we spend or regulate, we can not accomplish their agenda. Not ever.

Individual thinking and actions are not their cup of tea, which is why they always talk about “consensus”, “community” and “democracy”. Each and every one of these ideas requires identical thinking.

For starters, the basic assumption of the poll, that “action must be taken on climate change” is completely bogus. Alarmunists need to have popular support for their ideology. And viola (cellists need not apply), the poll “found” what the pollsters wanted.

When I believed in Catastrophic Anthropogenic Climate Change, I rode a bicycle year-round. I biked through the bitter, freezing cold and under the hot, blazing sun. I will hold alarmists to the same standard.
