Democracy Dies in Dark-Moneyness: Soros Funding Behind Off-Books Congressional “Staff” to Investigate Political Opponents of Climate Agenda

From Government Accountability & Oversight

WEBEDITOR

Following up on this story, and related complaints filed with congressional ethics watchdog offices, courtesy of Capital Research Center’s intrepid Hayden Ludwig we now see that the money behind privately financed congressional investigative staff is coming from none other than George Soros’s Open Society ventures.

Specifically, it appears that $300,000 went from Soros’ c4 (Open Society Policy Institute) to 1630 Fund for Co-Equal Action, with the grant tag, “to support work to enhance congressional effectiveness and oversight”.

Another $282,2000 went to the Hill-support operation courtesy of “eBay founder Pierre Omidyar’s Democracy Fund Voice in 2019 to ‘provide information and advice that helps members of Congress advance policies and conduct effective oversight.’”

As we now know, thanks to those two ethics complaints and yesterday’s common public right of access lawsuit for records filed against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, et al., that means providing off-books congressional investigators to augment professional staff, improperly for any Member or office which partakes, to pursue private party, political opponents.

Which is a donor-dangle to Members to violate not only House Rules but federal law, should they bite. Which House Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Ro Khanna has confessed to doing. As all laid out in those complaints. One recipient of which, the House Inspector General, immediately waved off as not being his job. Even though it seems to fall pretty cleanly within his remit of investigating management of House resources.

Democracy dies in dark-moneyness, etc. Note that this money came via Arabella’s c4 umbrella group — a hard core political entity, not some arguably nonpartisan c3 “charity” or public education institution.  For a slew of quotes and critiques of the 1630 Fund c4 by WaPo, Politico et al. see CRC’s compilation here. So, we now know that partisan financing of prosecutorial or quasi-judicial activities goes beyond just Soros prosecutors, above-board and legal, or Michael Bloomberg’s scheme planting privately hired activist prosecutors to pursue his agenda through state attorneys general offices which falls into a much grayer area. It extends to off-books congressional staff, who represent a facial violation (by Members who partake) of House Rules and federal law.

This operation — hiding in plain sight courtesy of a New York Times rollout piece so clumsily incurious that it never considered the propriety or even legality of what it nonetheless confesses is revolutionary, a “unique approach” now being tried in apparent response to the election of Donald Trump as President — is a pulse-check for the institution of journalism. But, even though it’s people we like, pushing idea we agree with?  It represents a test of principle for the Republican congressional minority, “Dark Money” scold Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, and any elected congressional Democrats who would like to demonstrate their rhetoric about good governance is remotely sincere.

The same as Hillary Clinton or Stacy Abrams not being banned from social media for claiming their election loss was fixed, such rules only apply to the opposition.
Their goals are so inherently pure, they are never even questioned.

In recent days, Biden has been asked if the 2022 election would be legitimate if the Democrats new election laws aren’t passed. So far Biden has refused to answer the question.

I wonder if the usual suspects will be as eager to declare Biden a traitor for questioning elections?

“I wonder if the usual suspects will be as eager to declare Biden a traitor for questioning elections?”

Of course, we know the Left is not going to criticize Biden and call him a traitor.

But I will. I will call Biden a traitor to his country because he *is* a traitor to his country along with a large number of the other members of the Obama-Biden administration. They used the power of the federal government to attack their political opponents, and Biden is still doing so. Therefore, Biden, and all those associated with these activities are traitors to the U.S. Constitution and the People of the United States.

I’ve just started reading all the details about the Biden familiy and the Chicoms and their “business” dealings with each other. Stay tuned.

I wonder this is a set up for a strategy to challenge, in court, every race where the Dems lose in the midterm elections?
Claim and blame such things as Voter ID laws, checking voter registries to be sure all those registered are still alive and legal citizens, etc. have “suppressed” the vote?

Hillary did admit to losing the election. To … Romania.

What does it say that a former SoS of The World Superpower, with more money to spend than in any other election, loses to a (trying to be not insulting) … small, not very important, country?

Read the entire complaint letter and you are once again hit in the face with the fact that these politicians feel they are free to commit crimes without recourse. This particular scam of hiring ‘volunteer consultants’ to work with democrat congressional staff to investigate companies and people and then partake in legal actions is very much in line with what Zuck did with his money during the last election. It is all illegal and is further evidence that they need to lie cheat and steal their way to forcing everyone to believe their idiotic plans are all about saving the planet .

Soros is often referred to as “the man who broke the bank of England”. His specialty is shorting a countries currency with large purchases, then re-converting when the exchange rate falls dramatically, sort of a short-selling scheme. His interest in climate change is alarming as he appears to think he can make billions from the theme.

I think one of the first people the new Republican-led House of Representatives should investigate is George Soros. He has done as much as anyone to undermine the United States and the way it is governed, and Congress should investigate and see whether he needs to be put in jail or not. I think he needs to be put in jail.

“Civil servants” who supposedly work for the public are seldom held to account for their misdeeds. For example, we are always told that ignorance of the law is no defense (although there are way too many laws on the books for a single person to know), whereas public employees are given the benefit of the doubt and all too often are forgiven for their “mistakes” even if they have grave consequences for some member(s) of the public. They are basically treated as a different (higher) class of citizens than the rest of us. This is disgusting and must stop if we are to preserve our freedoms and individual liberty.

The same trick was played at the state AG and local DA levels. Dark money for ‘extra’ (illegal) investigators, mostly looking into ‘climate/opposition crimes’. Didn’t work out too well. And won’t work out too well for Congress come Nov 2022. Now 29 Dem Congresspersons ‘retiring’. And Cheney lost her straw poll big time. And Kinsinger is not running again.

I see the bigger picture more simply. Despite all this dark illegal leftist stuff, Dems still had to steal the election for Biden. Despite the gaslighting, that gets clearer state by state in different ways. New Ga revelations. Wi indefinitely confined cheat of about 170k. Pa ~700k discrepancy between (partly invalid) written mail in requests and mail ins counted per now fired Pa SoS. Michigan Antrim County proven voting machine irregularities…

And stolen election Biden has turned out an unmitigated disaster. Afghan fiasco, supply chain fiasco, cancel KXL so oil prices shoot up fiasco, inflation, Covid OSHA mess, southern border mess, Biden chose Kamala mess, Kerry ‘we are failing to save the climate’ mess as Buil Back Better fails, Biden cognition issues.
So payback coming Nov 2022.

I just got off a flight from Houston to Denver and there were at least a couple of dozen Spanish speaking passengers, almost all young men, who it appeared had never flown before. I got some pleasure watching their reactions to takeoff, normal turbulence and their excitement at looking out the windows.

I assume that the plan is that these will be future democrat voters. I also assume that they were violators of immigration law but that’s just my guess, and I don’t begrudge their desire to improve their lives by coming here. However, the streets of Denver and Boulder are slowly assuming the appearance of LA and SFO with tarps and tents and all manner of encampments.

It seems like we should get are shit together and take care of existing problems here, before we help out Mexico and Central America, especially since there may be a connection between illegal immigration, suppression of wages and importation of illegal drugs, etc.

You do realise that Hispanics make up 38% of the population of Texas and thus you might expect a couple of dozen spanish speakers on any plane. And they are almost certainly going to be voting democrat if they get subject to the level of racial abuse demonstrated here from republicans. Furthermore as most people should be aware Texas was originally part of Mexico and so they never “came here” but rather their ancestors had their land stolen by settlers who thought they could more easily keep slaves if they belonged to the US.

(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Texas) During the period of recorded history from 1519 AD to 1848, all or parts of Texas were claimed by five countries: France, Spain, Mexico, the Republic of Texas, and the United States of America, as well as the Confederacy during the Civil War.

Why single out Mexico?

That’s completely untrue. Noone here abuses Hispanics. Name one time.

The only complaint that is voiced here about Hispanics, or any other race/ethnicity is to call them illegal aliens, which they are, and the complaint is not that they are Hispanic, the complaint is they are breaking U.S. laws by entering the country illegally, thus the “illegal” in illegal aliens, and the complaint applies to any illegal of any race.

It’s not racist to call a lawbreaker a lawbreaker.

It really is amazing how socialists believe they have a right to re-write history.
Those Americans were invited in by Mexico with promises of land and a certain amount of autonomy. A later government of Mexico tried to take those promises back and inhabitants revolted. Not just the whites, but most of the natives as well. Texas originally formed an independent nation, that only later decided to join the US when Mexico started agitating to take it back by force.

I find it interesting that the man who assumes that if you are Hispanic, therefor you speak Spanish most of the time, manages to assume other people are racist.

Yes, I think that is the goal of the Democrats. Just another reason to require that those who vote are eligible to vote. Illegal aliens are not eliglbe to vote. Of course, the Democrats wanted to change that and allow them to vote but their “Build Back Better” bill looks like it is going nowhere, but only because two moderate Democrat Senators blocked it. Otherwise, illegal aliens would be voting in our next election.

“I also assume that they were violators of immigration law but that’s just my guess,”

Maybe, maybe not.

Yes, if I were looking for a new start, I would be heading for the United States, too.

Don’t count your November payback before it is hatched. With good reason, the Dems remain confident they can steal the 2022 election cycle.

It’s why they haven’t stepped back one inch from their agenda, and show no sign of doing so.

The Republicans haven’t done nearly enough of the low level pre-prep work needed to counter the Dems vote fraud machine.

The RINOs still aren’t on board with supporting the Three November Movement and will not stand with MAGA Republicans when push comes to shove over 2022 election irregularities.

Unless there is a lot more progress between now and November than we’ve seen so far, 2022 will be a rerun of 2020.

Yes, next time the electors of representatives to governments in the USA ought to be demanding independent oversight of electoral processes and votes tabulation.

Australia for example has a standing federal government department (Electoral Commission) that is staffed by career public servants – no political party appointees, consultants, etc.

Candidates are entitled to have scrutineers present at vote counting to oversee procedures, provenance and activities, and to sample / check the accuracy of ballot counts. Recounts always in tight results.

To me as an outsider looking in, the US electoral process overall presents a standing invitation to win contests by whichever party is prepared to bend the rules the most.

They might be able to steal a few local elections, but Republicans won BIG in all local elections in 2020, except for the presidential election, and the Republicans are going to win big this time too, especially since all the signs are going against the Democrats. The Dems vote fraud machine is a highly sophisticated, well-funded, and well staffed operation.

It operates in every state, red and blue alike. Tens of thousands of people are now employed either full time or part time in running it.

Even now as we speak, the Dems are moving heaven and earth to get their vote fraud machine tuned up and ready for the 2022 cycle.

In 2020, Trump’s coat tails were so long that the Dem’s fraud machine couldn’t handle both the congressional elections and the presidential election at the same time.

In the late hours of November 3rd, 2020, the election fraud coordinators had to make a choice between focusing on the presidential side of the election or else attempting to go for both sides and risk losing each side.

They chose to focus on getting Biden across the finish line. The rest is history.

Assuming the Republicans in most states are as complacent as they were in 2020, then the Dem’s vote fraud machine has an easier task to accomplish this time around.

Tom Abbott

I see where Nancy Pelosi announced she is going to run for another term. She won’t like being in the minority in the House of Representatives. She really wouldn’t like it if Republicans were to elect Donald Trump as Speaker of the House in Jan. 2023.

Minority leader McCarthy should step aside and allow Trump to be elected as Speaker of the House. Trump will serve for one year and then run for president and will turn the job back over to McCarthy when he starts campaigning.

Mark Zuckerberg & wife spent $350 million manipulating the 2020 election by providing money for get out the vote efforts routed inside the election machinery of heavily Democrat counties. Thus, counties that could be counted on to produce a high proportion of Democrat votes were lavished with funds to hire staff, increase hours, install ballot drop boxes, do publicity campaigns and events, etc. designed to produce more ballots from Democrat-leaning voting areas, while Republican-leaning areas were largely excluded.

It worked and they’ll do it again if they can. Why do you think the Democrat Party is apoplectic over new voting laws seeking to standardize the way these things are done statewide? They know they got a big advantage in 2020 by skewing the playing field in their direction and they don’t want it leveled.

I have lived in several countries and never have I once had to wait more than a few minutes before being able to vote. “and now Republicans are trying to make it illegal to even hand out bottles of water to voters.”

That’s a distortion of the facts, Izaak. The election laws restrict campaigning for candidates within a certain distance of the voting booth, so the election laws only restrict political activists from passing out water as part of their effort to promote a particular candidate.

Unaffiliated parties can pass out all the water needed, and people can bring their own water with them, and the lines waiting times are not long.

I don’t know what elections you are referring to when you claim voters are “waiting for hours”. It usually takes me about 15 minutes, once I reach the voting place, if that long.

The new election laws are meant to make voting easier and cheating harder.

I’ve been voting for over 40 years, and I’ve only had to wait more than 20 minutes once. I had to wait over 2 hours in 1980 in order to vote for Reagan.
Many times I’ve been able to walk in, go immediately to the registration table, then go immediately to one of the voting stations.

According to new analysis from the Center for American Progress, there are still 139 elected officials in the 117th Congress, including 109 representatives and 30 senators, who refuse to acknowledge the scientific evidence of human-caused climate change. All 139 of these climate-denying elected officials have made recent statements casting doubt on the clear, established scientific consensus that the world is warming—and that human activity is to blame. These same 139 climate-denying members have received more than $61 million in lifetime contributions from the coal, oil, and gas industries.

I really wouldn’t worry about that Griffy, it’s balanced out by the hundreds of elected officials in congress who do believe in the ‘scientific’ consensus who have also received millions in lifetime contributions from the oil, coal and gas industries. The Democrats are awash with big oil money, their members continue to receive massive handouts from oil, coal and gas interests and no-one seems to mind. Don’t forget Soros is a coal magnate, Rockefeller foundation is big oil and they are pouring money into these people’s pockets far more than the ‘deniers’ you complain about.

Glory be, griff, you have actually supplied a link to some data.
A pity it doesn’t actually prove that CO2 is the control knob for the temperature but it is a start. Now do some more digging and find the proof that everyone is looking for.

I’m not holding my breath, though.

It doesn’t prove that those 139 politicians have been bought off by the oil and gas industry either.

139 receiving $61million in lifetime donations from an entire industry?
griffie poo, do you have any idea how little that actually is?

Regardless, the fact that only 139 members of congress are willing to actually follow the science is depressing.

Let’s talk serious money, shall we?
Here is the worlds most influential banker, from the Bank of England, now the UN Climate finance czar at the Glasgow COP26 conference, interviewed by Bloomberg :
Net-Zero a Ruthless, Relentless Focus for GFANZ: Mark Carney
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/videos/2021-11-01/net-zero-a-ruthless-relentless-focus-for-gfanz-carney-video

There Mr. Carney clearly says for all to hear that NetZero will cost $100 TRILLION !
And you fret about a few $million? Another report here estimated $433 TRILLION to electrify the US.

Now this eye-watering liquidity is meant to be a bank bail-out, for an utterly bankrupt transatlantic system, and for sure some Congressmen do know this. As COP26 delivered only Sharma’s pitiful whimper, war is again on the table.

Many wonder what this guy is all about , and what the attack on Sterling was all about :

See Karl Popper’s 1945 masterwork, The Open Society and Its Enemies, a philosophical defense of imperialism, specifically of British liberal imperialism, as espoused by LSE’s founders. Popper was Soros’s mentor at the London School of Economics.
Simply put feudalism is the objective.

From the article: “This operation — hiding in plain sight courtesy of a New York Times rollout piece so clumsily incurious that it never considered the propriety or even legality of what it nonetheless confesses is revolutionary, a “unique approach” now being tried in apparent response to the election of Donald Trump as President”

Yes, there are a lot of criminals out to get Donald Trump.

They better hurry, because the 2022 and 2024 elections are coming on fast.

Very little the Democrats say or do in public can be construed as sincere. They are the kings and queens of false narratives.

Off-books congressional staff funded / run by an enemy of the current governmental system and our culture (totalitarian)? Now there’s a rabbit-hole both sides should avoid and there those Dems are going there first – again.

Soros seems to be bad news where ever he spends his ‘hard earned fortune’ .

Soros is definitely bad news for any established society. His goal is to disrupt established societies.

There was a time when Democrats were against billionaires buying our democracy.

If Americans allow wealthy autocrats with no moral scruples such as Soros to buy their political desires through corrupt practices, those same Americans can kiss their beloved democracy goodbye.

“those same Americans can kiss their beloved democracy goodbye.”

That’s exactly right. Our freedoms are slipping from our fingers even now due to the manipulations of George Soros. He has turned parts of our nation into lawless regions, and would happily do the same to the entire nation if he could. But I think people are starting to become aware of the danger Soros poses to our society, and I believe the pushback is coming.

This article is a good example of why we must act to arrest the decline of the proper usage of the English language. A sound grasp of grammar enables a writer to write coherent sentences and clarify his message. The reader should not have to read and reread sentences to understand what the writer is trying to communicate.
There is a story here but one has to struggle to ascertain what it actually is.
