Following up on this story, and related complaints filed with congressional ethics watchdog offices, courtesy of Capital Research Center’s intrepid Hayden Ludwig we now see that the money behind privately financed congressional investigative staff is coming from none other than George Soros’s Open Society ventures.
Specifically, it appears that $300,000 went from Soros’ c4 (Open Society Policy Institute) to 1630 Fund for Co-Equal Action, with the grant tag, “to support work to enhance congressional effectiveness and oversight”.
Another $282,2000 went to the Hill-support operation courtesy of “eBay founder Pierre Omidyar’s Democracy Fund Voice in 2019 to ‘provide information and advice that helps members of Congress advance policies and conduct effective oversight.’”
As we now know, thanks to those two ethics complaints and yesterday’s common public right of access lawsuit for records filed against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, et al., that means providing off-books congressional investigators to augment professional staff, improperly for any Member or office which partakes, to pursue private party, political opponents.
Which is a donor-dangle to Members to violate not only House Rules but federal law, should they bite. Which House Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Ro Khanna has confessed to doing. As all laid out in those complaints. One recipient of which, the House Inspector General, immediately waved off as not being his job. Even though it seems to fall pretty cleanly within his remit of investigating management of House resources.
Democracy dies in dark-moneyness, etc. Note that this money came via Arabella’s c4 umbrella group — a hard core political entity, not some arguably nonpartisan c3 “charity” or public education institution. It extends to off-books congressional staff, who represent a facial violation (by Members who partake) of House Rules and federal law.
This operation — hiding in plain sight courtesy of a New York Times rollout piece so clumsily incurious that it never considered the propriety or even legality of what it nonetheless confesses is revolutionary, a “unique approach” now being tried in apparent response to the election of Donald Trump as President — is a pulse-check for the institution of journalism. But, even though it’s people we like, pushing idea we agree with? It represents a test of principle for the Republican congressional minority, “Dark Money” scold Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, and any elected congressional Democrats who would like to demonstrate their rhetoric about good governance is remotely sincere.
The same as Hillary Clinton or Stacy Abrams not being banned from social media for claiming their election loss was fixed, such rules only apply to the opposition.
Their goals are so inherently pure, they are never even questioned.
In recent days, Biden has been asked if the 2022 election would be legitimate if the Democrats new election laws aren’t passed. So far Biden has refused to answer the question.

George Soros has never struck me as having any interest in saving the planet. Destroying civil society, yes. Its just a means to an end for him.

His specialty is shorting a countries currency with large purchases, then re-converting when the exchange rate falls dramatically, sort of a short-selling scheme. His interest in climate change is alarming as he appears to think he can make billions from the theme.

I think one of the first people the new Republican-led House of Representatives should investigate is George Soros. He has done as much as anyone to undermine the United States and the way it is governed, and Congress should investigate and see whether he needs to be put in jail or not. Don’t forget his associate, now deceased Canadian billionaire, former United Nations senior executive, Maurice Strong who is said to have been the architect of climate hoax politics based on natural climate change, and weather.

They are basically treated as a different (higher) class of citizens than the rest of us. This is disgusting and must stop if we are to preserve our freedoms and individual liberty.
What is so disconcerting is that most (?) of the Supreme Court justices are either wearing blinkers or so politically partisan. How else can one explain that they seem unconcerned about taking a close look at what appears to many ordinary but thoughtful American citizens to be blatantly illegal.
I think part of the problem is that way to often “precedent” has been given more authority than the Original Constitution and, particularly, the The Bill of Rights that put limits on what Feds could do to an individual’s innate rights and the rights of the State’s Governments that make up the United States of America.
(How many on SCOTUS have read The Declaration of Independence? That was the conception of our nation. Is SCOTUS to end the “long train” or become a part of it?)

I just got off a flight from Houston to Denver and there were at least a couple of dozen Spanish speaking passengers, almost all young men, who it appeared had never flown before. I got some pleasure watching their reactions to takeoff, normal turbulence and their excitement at looking out the windows.
I assume that the plan is that these will be future democrat voters. I also assume that they were violators of immigration law but that’s just my guess, and I don’t begrudge their desire to improve their lives by coming here. However, the streets of Denver and Boulder are slowly assuming the appearance of LA and SFO with tarps and tents and all manner of encampments.
It seems like we should get are shit together and take care of existing problems here, before we help out Mexico and Central America, especially since there may be a connection between illegal immigration, suppression of wages and importation of illegal drugs, etc.
You do realise that Hispanics make up 38% of the population of Texas and thus you might expect a couple of dozen spanish speakers on any plane. Those Americans were invited in by Mexico with promises of land and a certain amount of autonomy. A later government of Mexico tried to take those promises back and inhabitants revolted. Not just the whites, but most of the natives as well. Texas originally formed an independent nation, that only later decided to join the US when Mexico started agitating to take it back by force.
I find it interesting that the man who assumes that if you are Hispanic, therefor you speak Spanish most of the time, manages to assume other people are racist.

Yes, next time the electors of representatives to governments in the USA ought to be demanding independent oversight of electoral processes and votes tabulation.
Australia for example has a standing federal government department (Electoral Commission) that is staffed by career public servants – no political party appointees, consultants, etc.
Candidates are entitled to have scrutineers present at vote counting to oversee procedures, provenance and activities, and to sample / check the accuracy of ballot counts. Recounts always in tight results.
To me as an outsider looking in, the US electoral process overall presents a standing invitation to win contests by whichever party is prepared to bend the rules the most.

It’s going to be a landslide for Republicans. The Democrats can’t steal this election. They might be able to steal a few local elections, but Republicans won BIG in all local elections in 2020, except for the presidential election, and the Republicans are going to win big this time too, especially since all the signs are going against the Democrats. The Dems vote fraud machine is a highly sophisticated, well-funded, and well staffed operation.

In the late hours of November 3rd, 2020, the election fraud coordinators had to make a choice between focusing on the presidential side of the election or else attempting to go for both sides and risk losing each side.
They chose to focus on getting Biden across the finish line. The rest is history.
Assuming the Republicans in most states are as complacent as they were in 2020, then the Dem’s vote fraud machine has an easier task to accomplish this time around.

Last year one of the .com billionaires spent about 45 million dollars to hire attorneys to work with election committees to make sure as many challenged ballots were accepted as possible. It’s just that he only did this for heavily Democrat districts. Like Al Gore wanting to only recount districts with heavy Democrat vote totals. This was an exercise in manufacturing Democrat votes, and it worked.
It’s a pattern. Mark Zuckerberg & wife spent $350 million manipulating the 2020 election by providing money for get out the vote efforts routed inside the election machinery of heavily Democrat counties. Thus, counties that could be counted on to produce a high proportion of Democrat votes were lavished with funds to hire staff, increase hours, install ballot drop boxes, do publicity campaigns and events, etc. designed to produce more ballots from Democrat-leaning voting areas, while Republican-leaning areas were largely excluded.
It worked and they’ll do it again if they can. Why do you think the Democrat Party is apoplectic over new voting laws seeking to standardize the way these things are done statewide? They know they got a big advantage in 2020 by skewing the playing field in their direction and they don’t want it leveled.

I have lived in several countries and never have I once had to wait more than a few minutes before being able to vote. Yet in the US supposedly once of the richest countries in the world waiting for hours to vote is commonplace and now Republicans are trying to make it illegal to even hand out bottles of water to voters.

That’s a distortion of the facts, Izaak. The election laws restrict campaigning for candidates within a certain distance of the voting booth, so the election laws only restrict political activists from passing out water as part of their effort to promote a particular candidate.
Unaffiliated parties can pass out all the water needed, and people can bring their own water with them, and the lines waiting times are not long.
I don’t know what elections you are referring to when you claim voters are “waiting for hours”. It usually takes me about 15 minutes, once I reach the voting place, if that long.
The new election laws are meant to make voting easier and cheating harder.

I’ve been voting for over 40 years, and I’ve only had to wait more than 20 minutes once. I had to wait over 2 hours in 1980 in order to vote for Reagan.
Many times I’ve been able to walk in, go immediately to the registration table, then go immediately to one of the voting stations.
Reading is fundamental. I never said anything about making it easy for people to legally vote being bad. Nice attempt at misdirection and strawmanning, though.
And if you think the Georgia law prevents people from getting water in line rather than the reality of it preventing people from bribing voters in line with food and drink, that ignorance is on you. Don’t believe the propaganda you read in the New York Times is the lesson here.

I have read that George Soros also invests in media businesses to gain influence, here in Australia for example he purchased a large shareholding in what was then the Channel 9 television media business that has since taken over the former Fairfax Group of newspapers.
Reminds me of the Fabian Society (Marxist) saying about “the inevitability of gradualness” … it won’t happen overnight but over time it will happen. Just keep chipping away and use media units and spin doctors to spread propaganda to the people, like climate hoax and warming scares.

One of the hallmarks of far-leftists is the way they project what they are onto our side as accusations of what our side supposedly is. I really wouldn’t worry about that Griffy, it’s balanced out by the hundreds of elected officials in congress who do believe in the ‘scientific’ consensus who have also received millions in lifetime contributions from the oil, coal and gas industries. The Democrats are awash with big oil money, their members continue to receive massive handouts from oil, coal and gas interests and no-one seems to mind. Don’t forget Soros is a coal magnate, Rockefeller foundation is big oil and they are pouring money into these people’s pockets far more than the ‘deniers’ you complain about.
