Michael Mann slams Morano as ‘One of the worst fossil fuel industry funded professional climate change deniers’ – Calls ‘just so dangerous’

Still, the real villain here is the fossil fuel industry.

“But you do see doomism sometimes used by climate inactivists. Just a couple of weeks ago, after the Glasgow summit, one of the worst fossil fuel industry funded professional climate change deniers, Marc Morano, who has worked for decades to undermine public acceptance of the science and to prevent any action on climate, sent out this mass email where he happily quoted Greta Thunberg claiming that the process was a total failure, that the process is broken, and that there’s no hope. Greta’s heart is completely in the right place, she’s a real leader, and the youth climate movement has been such an important factor in why we’re seeing the progress that we are seeing, which is why we really have to watch out for what we say, because otherwise people like Morano will twist our words to feed this sort of doomist narrative that ‘oh, look, you know, even climate advocates have agreed that there’s nothing we can do. So the game is over’ and that’s just so dangerous.

MM is still suing Mark Steyn in DC, going on 10 years of delays by judges. MM hasn’t submitted his discovery, and the judges don’t seem to have any urgency about it. He also lost in Canada; but, as would be expected for a total toff, he has refused to pay the judgement. That shows Mann’s character.

I never thought Mann had any character to begin with, so his failure to pay court costs here in Canada is no surprise. The only way for Dr. Ball to recover his costs would be to file a chambers motion for contempt of court.

Oh, the hilarity, that Mann et al repeatedly claim anyone who disagrees with their climate porn is funded by the fossil fuel industry. Remember, except for the TOTALLY ISOLATED, 100% of humans across the globe use and benefit from fossil fuels. Eight billion people can’t be in the pay of the fossil fuel industry, but billions of them for good reasons don’t buy into the climate doomsday prophesy. The industry simply supplies products demanded by human societies. So far, no good world-wide substitute has been found and deployed. The best long-term alternative, and possibly the only alternative, is some form(s) of nuclear power, which the greens hate. In fact, their hatred of nuclear power is largely responsible for present day levels of CO2 emissions.

Efficient use of resources? Of course. Wholesale forced adoption of parasitic wind and solar power and electric vehicles? Suicidal.

Well, Zig, you should have zagged. My response to the ever-correct BBC statement that Lapland icing years used to be on a 30-year period, with icing years now becoming more frequent due to climate change was to look it up: A 2008 study of a Lapland semi-nomadic herd covering the period 1959 to 2000 showed that icing occurred approximately every 7th year, not the 1-plus years implied by the 30-year statement.

Since they kept mentioning how expensive it was to round-up the wayward herds in the article, I assume the herders were angling for some government “climate change compensation.” Farmers and ranchers are always bitching about the weather and how it is ruining them as they go to Uncle Sugar for handouts. Your Magic Molecule is good for crony capitalism as well as media, academia and NGOs.

‘Why we are seeing the progress we are seeing’.

Well, sea level rise hasn’t accelerated. Arctic summer ice hasn’t disappeared. Polar bears are thriving. Children still know snow. So that is progress, in a way. Predicted fears have not materialized.

But, the Keeling curve says CO2 is still rising unabated. So Copenhagen, Paris, and now COP26 in Glasgow (per Greta Thunberg herself), were all failures to slow ‘carbon pollution’. And that is progress against climate change/renewables/GND insanity.

So finally something Mann said sort of makes sense, but not in the way he meant.

Progress is an [unqualified] monotonic process. By their metrics, there has (e.g. CO2 emissions, shutdown reliable energy production) and has not (e.g. climate mitigation, redistributive change) been progress. By other metrics, there has (e.g. stand up to …GND insanity, bad [white] bears… what are you going to do) and has not (e.g. sea level rise, arctic ice deficits) been progress. So, here’s to progress.

I actually was paid by Big Oil Companies, both Gulf and CONOCO, when I worked in their Minerals Departments. As a member of an Executive Technical Advisory Committee I was surprised at how wide a spectrum of current issues were submitted to the Committee for research. Like “one drop of this chemical in your tank with water and you don’t need gasoline anymore”, where the idea was to capture the “one drop” market if it ever became true. Big Oil Companies exist to deliver profit to shareholders, and are surprisingly introspective in the process.

Without Michael Mann’s bogus Hockey Stick “temperature” chart, there would be no reason to think humans are causing the climate to warm by adding CO2 to the atmosphere, because the climate is not warming, it is actually cooling.

Michael Mann and his Hockey Stick Team mannipulated the temperature record and changed a cooling world into a warming world in their computers. That’s where the warming world exists, in their computers, not in the real world. Michael Mann does not want anyone pointing this out.

Narcissists construct a completely logical worldview basesd on – unlike, say fundamentalist Christians, where it is the absolute literal truth of the Bible – the absolute certainty of the correctness of their judgements and conclusions.

Because Mann is 100% right, people who disagree must be mistaken, or lying, and if they are lying, there must be a reason for it.

Since a narcissist craves recognition and the trappings of suuccess – fame and fortune – he must conclude that others are the same. Altruism is simply a concept that a narcissist does not understand.

From there it is a short step only to conclude that climate sceptics are simply weak people pretending to have concerns for the human race merely in order to be noticed, or to make money, because that is, after all, exactly what motivates Mann.He has just got a better set of arguments that have more consensus. Remember to a narcissist the quality of ideas are not that they are true, but, subconsciously, whether they are believed.

In the world of a narcissist, there are no external truths, there is only what people believe.

The game is not about consistency with the facts, it is about the plausibility and success of the narratives.

Mann is not interested in the truth, he is desperate to justify his narrative, that’s all, and condemn competing narratives, The truth doesn’t enter into it, only how much he is believed and noticed.

My own experience of narcissists, is that they realize at some level – probably subconsciously – that the easiest way to be convincing, is to believe utterly in their narratives. Faith substitutes for facts.

Unfortunately, in science, the name of the game is that hypotheses need to be at some level consistent with the facts,

I find it hard to believe that Mann has convinced himself that he is correct about the temperatures since he deliberately manipulated the data in order to reach his conclusions about the Earth’s temperatures.

https://www.bostonglobe.com/2021/12/21/opinion/global-destruction-isnt-funny-when-it-comes-climate-crisis-it-might-have-be/

“Research informs scientists’ assessment of climate risk (our own work, for example, has demonstrated that model projections may be underestimating the extent to which climate change is increasing the incidence of dangerous weather extremes). But when it comes to the action that is required to address the climate crisis, what is really needed is effective public messaging and persuasion. Yet in an increasingly fragmented, polarized, and politicized society, effectively communicating both the warning signs of a destabilized climate and the promise of solutions to the public and political leaders is fraught.”

There isn’t any science that supports human aided climate change. Mann is a liar. Greta is an ignorant tool. Everyone should start a blog blasting those two losers.

It is ludicrous that serial liar Mann criticize anyone for anything.

I will never understand how a “scientist” can create the Hockey Stick and portray it as objective and important.

Blind ambition? Noble cause corruption? Mental disorder?

All of the above.

When I believed in Catastrophic Anthropogenic Climate Change, I rode a bicycle year-round. I doubt Michael Moore has ridden a bicycle in the past ten years.

There is a prevailing belief that some how scientists are always totally objective. The truth is they are human and many will lie and overlook data contrary to their own research. Mann has done research in tree rings and climate which brought him some fame earlier in his career. Like many others he is convinced his data trumps the data that would invalidate his theories. It’s sad really. I spent my entire career working with PhDs. They are brilliant in many ways but they wear their own theories like underwear, very close to their skin and often defend them when they are indefensible. Mann is just that.

Michael Mann is not qualified to judge Marc Morano. Didn’t Mann create his fictional fraudulent Hockey Stick temperature graph that the IPCC embraced as did Al Gore, both of whom jointly won the Nobel Peace Prize for their works of climate fiction?
