On top of paying dearly for wind and solar, the taxpayers have to pay and fit the bill for nuclear power too.
The more expensive nuclear… the small nuclear.

Not to worry. Once Biden makes gas and coal outrageously expensive nuclear will be an attractive option, if we can afford it, given the propensity of regulators to make a career out of it.
Existing nuclear generating facilities have proven nuclear safer and cheaper than other forms of electricity generation.
Looking forward to nuclear replacing the faux renewables.
A debate has commenced in Australia about solar panels imported from China that are produced in factories using slave labour, people forced to work.
Bear in mind those factories don’t only produce solar panels.
Thanks for that, slave labour is versatile apparently.
That’s alright, then. Griff approves of solar panels built by slaves because those slaves also produce other things. After all, how can socialism work without a few ‘willing’ slaves, eh?

Certainly as far as the UK is concerned the article is deeply misleading…
The UK govt announced 8 new nuclear sites as long ago as October 2010… the plans are still for 17GW of new nuclear…
As of today only Hinkley is building, at vast expense, which will add £30 a surcharge year to every UK electricity bill for 30 years.
Wylfa has had the main contractor pull out, as has Moorside: getting Westinghouse in would be the third firm at least to have a go at funding a new nuke.
Sizewell needs funding other than the Chinese and Bradwell was supposed to be an entirely Chinese affair.
The UK will be lucky to get one new reactor running (Hinkley already delayed)
and why? because of the cost and because of the need for return on investment on top of that cost: there isn’t a practical funding model the consumers of electricity produced can afford to pay for.
But France managed to build many nuclear plants are a relatively low cost. They should teach the world how to do it.
For as long as every one else in EU going wind and solar and EV batcrazy, France can manage and profit from nuclear.
No real competition, easy peasy.

The reason nuclear is more expensive than it should be is because of the environmental barriers the greens erect to make nuclear less economical.
The same goes to fossil fuels and fracking
Environmental levies(ie subsidies to unreliables) cost UK electricity bill payers around £11 billion in 2020/21 and are to rise to £12.5 billion in 2024/25. That’s way more than £30 a year!
And giffiepoo wants to insinuate Michael Shellenberger is misleading.
Not a fraction as misleading or just plain false as giffiepoo is.
Too bad Thacker Pass (lithium mining) isn’t on an Indian reservation. They can take the white man for a real ride if they have a resource to exploit.
Actually, they should make a reservation out of it and hand it to the Indians.
