h/t JoNova; UK PM Boris Johnson has claimed COP26 is “snipping the wires on the climate doomsday device”, but rejected the idea of a referendum on Net Zero, claiming the public should not be concerned about his trillion dollar planned expenditure.
Upbeat Boris says COP26 is ‘snipping the wires of the climate change doomsday device’ as he hails deals to end ‘great chainsaw massacre’ of forests and cut methane – despite India and China rejecting 2050 Net Zero goal
- Boris Johnson has held a press conference wrapping up leaders’ summit at the COP26 summit in Glasgow
- The PM has been trumpeting a deal with 100 countries including Brazil and CHina to protect world’s forests
- India has inflicted a setback by only committing to reach Net Zero by 2070 while China is aiming for 2060

Boris Johnson today insisted COP26 is ‘snipping the wires’ of the climate change ‘doomsday device’ as he hailed deals on forests and cutting methane.
At a press conference wrapping up the gathering of leaders in Glasgow, the PM warned that there is a ‘long way to go’ and there must be no backsliding from countries.
But he revived his description yesterday of global warming as a bomb that needed to be defused, James Bond style. ‘The clock on the doomsday device is still ticking but we have got a bomb disposal team on site and they are starting to snip the wires – I hope the right wires,’ he said.
The gathering in Glasgow has suffered some setbacks as major polluters China confirmed a 2060 Net Zero target and India only committed to 2070 – two decades after the UK and other powers.
But British officials have been encouraged by PM Narendra Modi’s commitment to slash carbon emissions by 2030.
And scores of countries have signed up to a US-EU initiative to cut methane emissions by 30 per cent by the end of the decade, in what is seen as one of the fastest ways of reducing the levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
Mr Johnson rejected the idea of a referendum on whether the UK should be aiming for Net Zero by 2050, saying the country had ‘probably had enough’ of such campaigns.
And he insisted the public should not be concerned about the estimated one-trillion pound cost of the drive over the next 30 years. Mr Johnson said British people are not ‘dumb’ and recognised that ‘if we don’t do this it will be an economic catastrophe’.
Challenged about the absence of China, Mr Johnson stressed that although Xi Jinping did not come to Glasgow ‘that doesn’t mean the Chinese are not engaging,’ as there was a ‘high-level’ delegation.
‘He didn’t want to come because of the pandemic,’ the PM said. ‘You have got to respect that.’
He said he had the same explanation from Russian president Vladimir Putin.
Have President Putin and President Xi Jinping really both developed a sudden fear of Covid? Is that the real reason they didn’t show up at COP26?
The Daily Mail article contains lots of photos of world leaders who seem to have forgotten their masks. But both Putin an Xi Jinping are frequently filmed maskless on their home turf.
BoJo’s pledge to save the world’s forests is a grand gesture, but Britain currently relies on mass deforestation to keep the lights on. The giant UK Drax biomass generator is currently supplied by “chainsaw massacring” forests in southern US states. UK PM Boris Johnson didn’t offer an explanation of what Drax will burn, after the COP26 pledge to save the world’s forests ends the supply of US wood chips to British biomass generators. Perhaps there will be a a long transition period.
BoJo’s rejection of holding a referendum on his trillion dollar Net Zero plan is understandable. What if ordinary people unexpectedly voted “no”? The British people lost the trust of the the UK establishment during the Brexit referendum, when they unexpectedly rejected the government position, and voted to leave the EU. That trillion dollars of planned government climate expenditure is way too important, to risk allowing ordinary people to mess things up with another unplanned referendum result.
Is producing COVID19 in a Wuhan lab not a great contribution to CO2 reductions? China rocks again, on saving the planet, from humans..
Covid isn’t the problem. World/country/state leadership is.
Yes Alexy but your spellckecker missed 2 little words; viz: ‘lack of‘ …of leadership blah blah
Or did it, haz you been hacked
Covid is the symptom and the highlighter
BONHOEFFER ON STUPIDITY
http://southsidemessenger.com/bonhoeffer-on-stupidity-entire-quote/
(This week’s editorial is from Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Bonhoeffer was hanged by Adolf Hitler in 1945.)
[excerpt]
Taken from a circular letter, addressing many topics, written to three friends and co-workers in the conspiracy against Hitler, on the tenth anniversary of Hitler’s accession to the chancellorship of Germany…
‘Stupidity is a more dangerous enemy of the good than malice. One may protest against evil; it can be exposed and, if need be, prevented by use of force. Evil always carries within itself the germ of its own subversion in that it leaves behind in human beings at least a sense of unease. Against stupidity we are defenseless. Neither protests nor the use of force accomplish anything here; reasons fall on deaf ears; facts that contradict one’s prejudgment simply need not be believed- in such moments the stupid person even becomes critical – and when facts are irrefutable they are just pushed aside as inconsequential, as incidental. In all this the stupid person, in contrast to the malicious one, is utterly self-satisfied and, being easily irritated, becomes dangerous by going on the attack. For that reason, greater caution is called for than with a malicious one. Never again will we try to persuade the stupid person with reasons, for it is senseless and dangerous.
Could have been written especially for Boris Johnson. One would think, with his classical education, he would also be aware of the quote.
Sadly, the fool has now decided to go for the UK Stock Exchange by telling them that he intends to make law that will force companies to be Green: One just wonders how many will go out of business as a result?
It’s a long list Harry:
BoJo (aka BLoJo) and his green-energy predecessors. Prince Charles, Joe Biden (Let’s Go Brandon!), Justin Trudeau (and his entire circle), our new Mayor in Calgary (aka “Ms Climate Emergency”), most politicians, most of the media, lefty University profs, Greens, Socialists, Marxists, US Democrats and RINO’s, Canadian LIberals and NDP, the list goes on…
One wonders how many took the real Covid-19 vaxx, not the saline, and how long they will be with us…
Lately I’ve found it very effective to ask Warmunists what specific “climate” they’re referring to when they talk about the “climate change” crisis. Usually they become baffled with a look like a deer in the headlights.
Agreed Rory – We covered that some time ago:
You put your left wing in
You put you left wing out
You put your left wing in
And you shake it all about
“Warming and cooling, floods and drought;
That’s what CO2 is all about!”
THE CATASTROPHIC ANTHROPOGENIC GLOBAL WARMING (CAGW) AND THE HUMANMADE CLIMATE CHANGE CRISES ARE PROVED FALSE January 10, 2020
https://thsresearch.files.wordpress.com/2020/01/the-catastrophic-anthropogenic-global-warming-cagw-and-the-humanmade-climate-change-crises-are-proved-false.pdf
INTRODUCTION.
Let’s assume that the CAGW is a scientific hypothesis and can be falsified. This concept is important, because the scary humanmade “Climate Change“ hypothesis can mean anything and everything to climate alarmists – warmer, colder, wetter, drier, windier, calmer and thus cannot be falsified – it is Karl Popper’s “non-falsifiable hypothesis”, or in layman’s terms, it is non-scientific nonsense.
When it is scientifically framed, the Catastrophic Humanmade “Climate Change” hypothesis can also be falsified, as discussed herein.
“A theory that is not refutable by any conceivable event is non-scientific.” – Karl Popper
…
There are numerous highly credible observations that falsify the CAGW hypothesis and many are listed herein, but as Albert Einstein famously stated “One would be enough”.
Thanks for the link.
Much easier to simply say: “You can’t fix stupid”.
Once upon a time, a long long time ago, in a land far far away, before the Age of Twitter, people actually wrote in whole sentences, and organized their thoughts into well-crafted paragraphs, and others read them, and marveled at their intellect, and the clarity of their ideas.

It’s bad when guys like Putin warn us that we are off the rails…
… and he is correct.

BORDERING ON THE ABSURD
By Bill Bonner Tuesday, November 2, 2021
Modern society is hypnotized by socialism. It is prevented by socialism from seeing the mortal danger it is in. And one of the greatest dangers of all is that you have lost all sense of danger, you cannot even see where it’s coming from as it moves swiftly towards you.
– Russian novelist Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
BALTIMORE, MARYLAND – Little noticed in the Western media, last month, Russian president Vladimir Putin made an important speech in which he explained what was wrong with us:
We are surprised by the processes taking place in countries that used to see themselves as pioneers of progress. The social and cultural upheavals taking place in the United States and Western Europe are, of course, none of our business; we don’t interfere with them.
“Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake,” said Napoléon. But while Putin might enjoy watching us err… he continued with his helpful analysis:
Someone in the Western countries is convinced that the aggressive erasure of whole pages of their own history – the “reverse discrimination” of the majority in favor of minorities, or the demand to abandon the usual understanding of such basic things as mother, father, family or even the difference between the sexes – that these are, in their opinion, milestones of the movement toward social renewal.
It is shocking to see more thoughtful writings from Putin than we get from The elite in Western Europe, Canada and the US.
I’m sure our female Prime Minister in New Zealand has read those words, and approved of them! Ignorant red politicians are extremely dangerous!
I think Putin can see and is worried that the world is heading towards another crisis
Same end effect, in the case of COVID-19.
Correct Gordon – the same people are behind the Climate scam and the Covid scam, using the same Leninist propaganda tactics – they never argue the science, they just shout down all opposition.
Then they linked their two big scams, saying “To solve the Covid crisis, we’ve got to solve the Climate crisis” – utter nonsense, voiced by many “world leaders” at the same time. Not even rational enough to be specious.
We are governed by scoundrels and imbeciles.
COVID came from Italy months before it reached China. Proven conclusively. Zero evidence that a lab in Wuhan had anything to do with a natural virus entering the human population.
Duane,
Any facts to go with that fluff?
That’s not what the Italian government thinks. The first two Covid cases in Italy were a Chinese couple from Wuhan who had recently flown in. The third case was an Italian who had come from Wuhan. Italy suspended all flights from China on Jan. 30th, a couple of days before the US did the same.
It shortly became clear that most of the Covid infections on the US East Coast were not coming from Chinese who had flown into the West Coast states, but from Italy, and secondarily other European countries, particularly into New York/New Jersey with its large Italian population. The first Covid case in Nashville, TN came from a tourist returning from Italy, for example. It turns out there is a huge Chinese presence in Northern Italy, and unrestricted flights between China and Italy before the first known cases may have led to a reservoir of the virus before it was widely known.
From an interview with Fauci in April, 2020:
“Europe became the epicenter pretty quickly after China really exploded with their cases. As you know, we cut off the travel from China relatively early and we were seeded with a relatively few number from China, but it quickly switched to Europe, particularly northern Italy,” Fauci said.
“And given the travel and the air traffic from anywhere in Italy, particularly northern Italy, it’s just not surprising — unfortunately — and inadvertently New York was seeded before they knew what was going on and that’s why they’re in the difficult situation they’re in right now,” Fauci explained.
Yes, the first two cases of the Wuhan virus to arrive in Oklahoma came from two people returning from Italy.
Yes, but I think you should point out that Northern Italy (particularly Lombardy) is the main Europe terminus of Xi’s Belt and Road Scheme.
Amongst the political, academic and business links there is the specific Chinese “investment” in high quality leather goods (for which Lombardy is famous.
So, in addition to businessmen and politicians flying Milan to Wuhan and back, there were teams of Chinese engineers and craftsmen going to Lombardy for training and teams of Italian specialists going to Wuhan to set up machinery and so on.
And, of course the Italian New Year was 1 January and Chinese New Year was the last week in January. Lots of people going home for the holidays and then returning.
And, as the genius Mayor of Milan urged, no room for being nasty, “Go hug a Chinaman”.
The very probable deliberate release and spreading of the virus from China was well underway. It had been widespread there for many weeks.
The first recorded cases in the US were in Washington State and started from a person who visited Wuhan for the Chinese New Year celebrations.
You sure got that wrong Duane.
Proof please .
The US were financing gain of function research on viruses in the Wuhan Lab and the virus escaped into the city .
It was then inadvertently taken to Italy.
From Italy a crew member of the Ruby Princess was flown out to Australia to join the ship and brought the virus with them .
Friends of mine were on the Ruby Princess cruising around New Zealand and they realized something was wrong .They jumped ship in Napier and hired a car to travel home .
Passengers from the ship had visited a retirement home in Christchurch and infected the residents which resulted in our worst death toll in 2020.
Our glorious government stated that they had no idea how the virus had reached the rest home . REALLY?
How much did the CCP pay you for posting this baloney?
And no, baloney doesn’t come from Bologna.
That was my first inclination, too; paid troll.
People and covid are not the problem. Opportunist politicians love a crisis so they have no restraints on what they do. It is a shell game for them with the public being fleeced.
Clearly, after this, the giant UK Drax biomass generator will have to stop using the fruit of its chainsaw massacre from the New World, but it would be able to carry on by feeding old and unread Carbon Neutral copies of the Grauniad into the flames.
It won’t be long before it will be cheaper to feed the furnaces with £5 notes.
Aren’t we alright, with this pathetic buffoon playing the Great Helmsman?
There won’t be any £5 notes, they will all be reprinted with extra zeroes, like Venezuelan Bolivars…
feed them to Drax by the lorry load. More useful.
Politicians?

Our socialist government here in New Zealand is encouraging overseas investors to buy up good hill country sheep and cattle farms and plant them in perpetual forests. The investors will earn carbon credits and a great deal of money will leave New Zealand.
These farms are the life blood of a lot of country towns and they breed lambs and slaughter cattle for better farms to finish the animals to supply meat for export to the world .
This land is being planted in pine trees which will never be harvested and they will become fire hazards .The theory is that our native bush will gradually take over.
My grandparents on both sides of my family took up ballot blocks of virgin bush then cut and burnt the bush and then established pastures on the land over 100 years ago.
Our government are going directly against the IPCC directive that no country should take measures that threaten world food supply.
New Zealand feeds 10 times our population with food exports to all corners of the world .
How can any country cut back food production in the vain quest of sequestering CO2 while putting many rural workers out of work and also meat processing staff and many other people indirectly?
Our grazed pastures already sequester CO2 as I know from my own experience of red clay tracks bulldozed for access are soon covered in black topsoil from what the animals deposit as they graze the pastures .
It makes no sense to me for a country to cut back its exports of quality food and then send money overseas to investors for what?.
A great way to bankrupt a country .
Graham
Like all socialists, your Prime Minister hasn’t the vaguest idea how an economy works, has already proven she has no understanding of science either but does, apparently, know how to piss on women’s dignity while pandering to the mentally unbalanced.
Yes Graham, in additon to the fire hazards there there’s the loss of foreign exchange we in NZ earn from our farm exports. Carbon credits from the pine forests are only traded internally thus losing those foreign exchange possibilities.
This is just hastening the demise of our rural towns.
This government doesn’t understand climate science, farming, rural NZ or economics.
The koolaid is very strong in NZ!
Thanks Alastair .
Good to hear from you .
I am convinced that no one in this government knows how our economy works .All countries need to earn over seas exchange to purchase all the goods that can not be made ecoomically in their country .
This government is hell bent on destroying farming which is the life blood of New Zealand.
Graham
….or anything else. No business experience, so no consideration for business owners bleeding financially and no consideration for we locked down folk in Auckland who are going stir-crazy!
Exactly the sort of thing I’ve seen all my life.
The Important Thing about your post is make clear to everyone you’re talking about cattle.
Just cows and their calves and not sheep, or heaven forbid, goats
Teacher says “go back and read it again!”, Peta.
Reply to Peta ,
These farms are predominantly sheep farms running a thousand to 10,000 breeding ewes with usually a breeding cow herd of Angus or hereford cows .the young cattle are often sold before their first winter to easier contoured farms to finish at around two and a half years.
On this class of country some cattle are essential to keep pastures under control for the sheep and they also eat fern and other weeds.
Yes there are semi wild goats that roam between farms that do a task of controlling weeds such as blackberry .They are rounded up when their numbers expand and sent to our cities where the super markets sell the meat mainly to our Asian population.
.
Lost of people dependent on Gubmint in NZ. It’s the main reason I left in 2005 for Australia. Only Issue is, now, Australia is just as bad.
pines and in aus damned bluegums ruining the water tables and soils people worked hard to turn to good graze n croplands
criminally stupid
poor fell OUR countries
Sounds like “THEY” want “Money” to become your greatest export
Unfortunately people can’t eat money
Drax is subsidised to the tune of £2.2 million a day so you aren’t far off.
Sadly the pages of the Grauniad are as loaded with chemicals as its journalistas. I doubt it would burn.
Drax really is perfect madness in its own right destroying forest
And on a smaller scale it gets even worse.
2 examples:
The price of timber/lumber/wood for house building and similar has easily doubled inside the last 12 months
Now we’re all being told to stop (seemingly) hoarding old cardboard boxes and take them to the nearest recycling dump ASAP.
As if the truck driver shortage, the steel container shortage, the now hideous cost of international shipping, lack of port facilities etc etc weren’t bad enough, there’s not enough cardboard to make boxes to put stuff into.
Hang on a minute – isn’t rampant consumerism The Problem Here for these clowns?
There is now actually a ‘Road Shortage’
No matter – A New Tax will sort all that.
And as all new taxes do, it will solve the problem – after the Cronies have got their hands on the revenue stream and multiplied their costs/charges/prices/timescales by a factor ot ten – as they usually do and always do
what a complete dump this place now is – over-run by rats – Glasgow seemingly is exactly it – in microcosm.
Dumb question coming up:
Will any of them notice….
Canada is a perfect example of the socialist dream in that young people cannot afford to build or buy a home in the second largest country in the world with vast areas of marginal land and timbe everywhere. Costs of living must be suffiently high to keep the young dependent on the nanny state. Every person must live in a rented tiny box in a city where you will be a model unit of consumption and production. The ruling class will regularly invent new fear campaigns which will require you to sacrifice even more so that they can jet around the world developing fantasy solutions to fantasy problems.
If anyone would know how dangerous covid is it would be Xi Jinping. He’s well briefed about its origin, causes and lethality. As for “climate change” and whether it’s a crisis or not, I’m sure he hasn’t any doubt that the AGW fraud has been China’s “secret sauce” for success … a money machine printing out Yuan by the truck load. Not attending the conference but sending a few low level apparatchiks is just his way of telling Western leaders he knows their game. It’s beneath his dignity to participate. Emperors don’t do menial jobs.
Covid is just the excuse BoJo the Clown assigns to their desire to continue BAU and not destroy THEIR economies
Pursuing the AGW fraud for much longer is going to destroy their economies anyway. It is now becoming very obvious that the Intended redistribution of wealth from AGW politics has backfired and the rich are now getting richer. Covid and AGW are causing hardship to the poor and middle class.
Rory, that was their STATED intent. I think their ACTUAL intended “redistribution” has worked just fine for them.
I do believe that the UN is marginally sincere about their Marxist goals, but must make it attractive to the oligarchs so the funding doesn’t dry up. The UN needs the revenue for their long game of a one world government. The oligarchs are happily reaping the windfall profits of the short game … while the general public takes it in the butt.
People actually voted for this blithering idiot.
Only as an MP, the UK doesn’t vote for our Prime Minister
It’s the other idiots in the Tory party that made him PM so he could sprout this nonsense
Technical point taken Redge, but I think people believed (at the time) that Johnson was the man who was going to bring Conservative ideas back to the table and wash away the stains of May and Cameron.
They of course couldn’t have been more wrong, but hindsight and all that.
Apologies, mate, my comment probably sounded a bit off. It was more for non-UK citizens rather than UK subjects.
And I totally agree with you on the other points you make
Politicians have to tread a line between being acceptable to the Party, acceptable to the electorate and acceptable to the powerful business interests who fund the Party, who expect payback.
Siemens, vendor of windmills, sponsored the whole party conference some years back.
Boris is consummate.
He is where he is because he promised Brexit, and more or less managed to scrabble the ball over the line, aided by a firm shove up the backside from Dominic Cummings.
(US readers may be puzzled by the references to rugby football- watch a few games)
Since then his erstwhile mistress has got Cummings sacked, and BoJo is rudderless – being steered only by tugs on his ‘mainsail’ .
The drive for a referendum on this EcoBollox™ is growing in momentum. Although almost no one yet is prepared to openly challenge the climate narrative, they can at least act as concern trolls (“I agree with you BUT I have concerns“) over the cost/benefit of EcoPolicy and NetZero™.
So the counter narrative goes thus
The speed with which the Tory grass roots sacked Theresa May for essentially delivering us to the EU trussed like an oven ready turkey, and calling it ‘Brexit’ , is likely to be repeated.
So I have two statistical likelihoods.
The first is that renewable energy per se will be gradually phased out – domestic solar panel subsidies are already gone – and the nuclear option (sic!) will receive intense discussion as the best ROI on reducing ‘carbon emissions’
The second is that if Boris continues to allow his now wife to run the country, both will be turfed out of number ten faster than you can say ‘Tory grass roots’
I was dozing this morning listening to the TV, when for the first time ever in my memory, EDF …the French owned power company that runs not only a few windmills and solar farms, but also the rump of Britain’s nuclear power stations, and of course ALL France’s nuclear power stations…advertised itself as fully committed to ‘developing low carbon energy from wind nuclear and solar’, in a commercial presumably designed to coincide with “FLOP26”.
From being an energy source that ‘dared not speak its name’, nuclear it seems is ‘coming out’
Well OK. If people want to believe in Santa Claus, governments injecting microchips into their Brains, or Climate Change, I really couldn’t care less. But I do care when they look set to destroy civilization by the greedy deployment of green technologies that in the end will never ever work.
There in the USA, you have sufficient fossil reserves to avoid facing up to the nuclear question. You can burn coal, frack gas and maybe even distill the Athabasca tar sands for quite some time. In Britain we don’t have those options.
Most of our energy is imported. One way or another. Be it coal, wood, natural gas or oil. Or even uranium.
But by far away the cheapest to import and stockpile, is uranium. Threats from France to ‘cut off our electricity’ are of course insane and preposterous, but people don’t know that. Traffic to my website shows that energy is becoming a very hot topic amongst the Redditos and Twitterati.
Interesting times.
Britain does have an option. We have loads of lovely gas beneath our feet. All we have to do is frack it out of the ground.
World nuclear was stalled by Fukishima, although it had been coming anyway. However, Rolls Royce are due to begin construction of 16 Small Modular Reactors (SMR’s) in 2030 on brownfield sites in the north of England. The country needs thousands of them.
The problem is, China ignored Fukishima and has the most ambitious, by far, nuclear program in the world. Something that’s rarely mentioned. By 2060 it will have begun to retire it’s coal fired power station to be wholly replaced by nuclear.
The rest of the world will be left behind. Nor is this some sort of master plan to take over the world, it’s an entirely pragmatic solution to the question of cheap, reliable electricity the west is determined to ignore in it’s insane quest to momentarily capture the moral high ground.
However, the China coal narrative will serve a purpose, to bury Boris’ and probably Biden’s NetZero folly as the world and it’s mother is now aware that China is, and will remain, the worlds ‘polluter’ and nothing anyone else can do can change that. I mean, Xi won’t even attend the “Last chance saloon” for the planet (as Prince Charles described it – again) so just how impending is the doom when he won’t risk Covid to save his own country.
Boris and Biden are going to come home with their tails between their legs and yet another COP(out) failure will see a monumental rise in objections to the futile waste of Taxpayers money NetZero represents.
It’s already begun in the UK with three big hitter of the Conservative government back benchers, Ian Duncan Smith, Steve Baker and David Davis having published criticism of the NetZero proposals over the last month or two. When Boris returns empty handed, journalists smelling blood in the water will pile in to destroy him over his failure which will embolden more back bench MP’s to question the narrative.
The entire political mood will swing. The bandwagon leaping lefty politicians will fall silent one by one as they see the mood of the country shift and the voters begin to seriously question the futile expenditure of eye watering amounts of money on something that will not change a thing.
Boris’ only potential salvation is to return banging the drum for Nuclear. Something he slyly dropped into his narrative despite calling for Britain to be the Saudi Arabia of Wind. In short, he’s anticipated the failure of COP(out)26 and must have something else to offer if he’s to maintain his position.
The grand gesture Boris wanted to leave as his enduring legacy was the hope he would be seen as the world saviour in the face of impending Armageddon. He’s reaching the rather painful conclusion that won’t be by destroying the country.
His only opportunity of being recognised in tomorrows history favourably is if he becomes the champion of Nuclear energy in the UK.
Never being one to miss an opportunity, he’ll seize it. The narrative shift over the next few months will be interesting to behold, but not nearly as interesting as the financial games about to be played with the renewables industry to drop them like a hot potato, without being seen to drop them.
Hoping you are right..
Leaders of the ever-less free world doing their level best to wreck the countries they govern.
They can’t be that stupid that they really do think we’re at some climate tipping point, so it makes sense to conclude they’re up to something else.
Well ,their Covid is the perfect complmentary tool to AGW to install a global government.
The awake government bureaucrats all realize that one degree of warming in a century is NOT a crisis, but is just opening up a lucrative tax regime for governments around the world. They now have many useful idiots as supporters and it is only a matter of time until carbon taxes, and cross border carbon equalizing taxes on imports result in the tax-collecting power they want.
During the Blitz the largest bombs that the Germans dropped on London were called aero mines. Many of them on time delay. Bomb defusing teams were formed from civilians volunteers. They came from all walks of life and nearly every social-economic sphere. From professors to janitors to shop clerks. Females included. A good number of them paid the ultimate price and when they did there was often nothing recognizable that remained to morn over or bury.
It doesn’t take any courage to defuse the fake climate change bomb that they admit has a very long delay. Its a dummy after all. But those claiming they are trying to do so will have blood on their hands.
IIRC, it was called the “pink mist”. Very brave people.
Nobody had any idea that Johnson would go full climate alarmist during his period in office.
Now that he has done so he must be replaced by someone with a more intelligent approach to science.
He has no voter mandate for his decisions.
The hyperbole emanating from him is not supported by the IPCC reports themselves and is contradicted by accumulating observational evidence.
If he is still PM at the time of the next election then most of the electorate will have nobody to represent their interests or viewpoints.
That would be a disaster for British democracy..
Even the creation of a new scientifically literate political party would simply split the Conservative vote and allow in the hard left.
Not an appealing future for us so it has to be via a complete reconstruction of the Conservatives.
Anything else does not bear thinking about.
He’s not driving this policy. It’s Princess Nut Nut.
Climate crisis? What climate crisis?
Both of them are remote controlled and as both are powered by renewables their masters have to put them on stand by whenever there’s no sun and wind at the same time.
grandstanding from an idiot. We need a, Trump, back in every country.
It won’t be long until you read of a sudden outbreak of Covid-19 ripping through Glasgow. Why would that be?
Only if idiots go get a PCR “test”. If they didn’t there would not be an “outbreak” (The outbreak happened in 2019) the rest is just people taking a PCR “test” which means nothing.
If I have to live in the cold because of your policies Prime Minister you can bet I am concerned!
Boris has to take lots of pairs of trousers to these conferences because they keep spontaneously igniting.
Friends,
It seems several contributors are not aware of the truly astonishing success of the populism practiced by Boris Johnson.
He makes many promises but almost always fails to deliver them.
He spouts blatant falsehoods and people laugh.
He often does things that make him look “silly” and people laugh some more.
He probably will fail to get “Net Zero” but so what? He failed to get Brexit done.
Please remember that when he failed to ‘railroad’ Parliament he prorogued (i.e. disbanded) Parliament. Hence, were it not for the Courts and the Crown the UK would now be a dictatorship ruled by Boris and the Cabinet he has appointed.
But Boris Johnson still maintains much public support.
Please do not underestimate Boris Johnson. He is a buffoon but he is a successful and dangerous buffoon who uses his buffoonery to advantage.
Leaders should be feared when they maintain support after having burned the Reichstag or prorogued Parliament in attempt to get their own way.
Richard
Or 9/11 – look what that ushered in!
Good to see you post., hope you are well. Problem for BoJo, and the UK, is he’s not at the steering wheel. Princess Nut Nut is.
“But Boris Johnson still maintains much public support.”
Depends how you define “much”, latest polls have him down to a 36% approval rating.
That doesn’t seem that much to me.
If you’re in a pub where 1 in 3 are nutters it sure seems like a lot. Time to start drinking up and backing out.
The remarkable thing about Boris is his remarkable lack of achievement.
With a huge majority;
●He has failed to get Brexit done (even going backwards on the NI protocol).
●He has failed to get a trade deal with the USA.
●He has failed to manage COVID competently – we have one of the worst death rates in the world despite being an island.
●He has failed to get our allies out of Kabul.
●He has failed to control the corruption in his party (bullying Home Secretary, rule-breaking hypocrisy, bribes left right and centre and, of course, jobs for the chums without any return like Test-And-Trace).
Any one of these failures alone is a sign of his abject failure as a PM. But all of them looks like a coherent strategy.
He has no interest in serving the UK. He has no interest in building a stronger political base. He has no plan at all.
He’s just a cheap con artist out make a quick buck.
And his comedy schtick is getting tired.
Wait, what? Cut methane and deforestation? Does he not know that living trees emit methane? Trees are evil, cut them all down now! And even small children know that we must clear the forests to make space for more windmills and solar panels. How stupid can this man be?
Well we’ve certainly done our bit on the clearing forests front.13m and counting cut down in Scotland to make way for the turbines!
The man is compromised. By whom and how is not known.
As with the EU referendum, pressure is growing from the grass roots and like David Camerisn, he is pretending it doesn’t exist.
Who gave the FLOP26 keynote speech – why none other than Heir to the Throne of the British Empire, Charles, Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay. BoJo knows which side his bread is buttered on!
No, we all know who wears the pants at No.10.
Looks like FLOP26 is Net-Zero-Exit, and BoJo had to do nothing at all, except sleep through it!
China, Russia and the BRICS nations did not attend FLOP26 except for India’s Modi who did, to reiterate that the $100/year commitment actually be paid for adaption and “Clean Tap Water for All” and “Clean Cooking Fuel for All,” and invited all countries to join the “Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure.” – not mitigation.
…$100 billion/year ….
Oh, you were reading from Nicola Sturgeon’s notes there, I think!
Those are good policies.
I told them that time had quite literally run out.
I told them it’s one minute to midnight on that doomsday clock.
I’m afraid Boris Johnson’s smirk always reminds me of the look the dumbest kid in the class had when he thought he was smarter than everyone else
“The giant UK Drax biomass generator is currently supplied by “chainsaw massacring” forests in southern US states. ”
bullshit- there is no chainsaw massacring of forests in the US south- that region is the wood basket of the world, very sustainable indeed
when the last wires snipped I hope hes under what falls !
To quote the Bard :
Sceptre and Crown
must tumble down,
and in the dust be equal made
with the poor crooked scythe and spade….
Ironically Prince Charles gave the keynote speech….
“But he revived his description yesterday of global warming as a bomb that needed to be defused, James Bond style.”
Don’t cut the RED wire Boris. Boris?
But, but… all of the wires are the same colour! Which one do I cut now?
I think someone may have snipped his wires. He’s gone totally bonkers.
I hope BoJo has had his wires snipped. Considering he sold out the UK on climate in exchange for a bit of quim, I just don’t want those two reproducing.
Too late! He and she already have one child and are said to be trying after another.
Defy the Eco Nut-Nuts.
If you are a UK citizen sign and circulate the Parliamentary Petition…_
“Hold a referendum on whether to keep the 2050 net zero targets”https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/599602
HotScot says: “When Boris returns empty handed, journalists smelling blood in the water will pile in to destroy him over his failure which will embolden more back bench MP’s to question the narrative.”
I most sincerely hope that this is true. However, you could say that genuinely inquisitive journalists could have smelt blood any time these last twenty years. I have come to assume that the role of ‘journalist’ has been subject to the same kind of environmentalist entryism as so many other roles in ‘information management’ more generally – or, to put it another way, the slow march through the institutions, which ‘environmentalists’ have so successfully carried out (think the BBC’s chief environmental correspondent, the editor of the Economist, NASA GISS, the Met Office, and so on and on).
Boris is a clever bloke. When he was a journalist writing for the Daily Telegraph, and when he was editor of the Spectator, he showed a healthy and well-informed disrespect for the energy ‘solutions’ of the environmentalists. Latterly, in power, he has become vocal in his support for policies he used to hold in contempt. It is difficult to avoid the vulgar conclusion that Princess NutNut has him on a lead.
However, since we know him to be a clever bloke, I have been cherishing the hope that he knew this COP 26 farce would end in tears of laughter, and was preparing a fall-back position, from which he could shift the blame, and pivot on the policies. When he says ‘…starting to snip the wires – I hope the right wires’, that seems to me that it might proffer a way out. And he could blame it all on the misinformation provided for him by Michael Gove, with home he still has a debt unpaid (remember the knifing by Gove of Boris during the latter’s campaign for leadership of the Tory party?).
And yes, there is an increasingly large number of Tory MPs who are speaking out. Net Zero Watch, as they are currently known. So that’s got to be good.
We must hope.
When Gove was Education Secretary he had my respect for identifying and attempting to counter the ‘blob’. But then when he became Environment Secretary he fell hook, line and sinker for every bit of green blobbery going. He then yanked the rug from under Boris’s feet which resulted in the wretched May getting the keys to No 10 and the car crash of her Brexit “negotiations” that followed, which lowered my opinion of him even further. But low as my opinion of Gove came to be, I’m now wondering if he realised that Johnson would be a poor choice for PM. Perhaps we’ll have to wait for his memoirs to find out what really went on.
You’ll probably find out more if Goves wife publishes her memoirs instead.
with whom, not with home
If I send that mope Johnson a coupon for a session at Supercuts, will that drive him to get a decent haircut? He looks ridiculous. He’s not fooling anyone with that idjit haircut, nor is he fooling anyone with His Plan.
Who needs democracy when you know you’re right and they’re wrong?
Typical mindset of a leftwingnut dictator.
China and India didn’t show because they have better things to do than waste time at a goofy shrimp-fest.
I hope the net zero, glued to the road lefty eco warriors get what they deserve – net zero energy! Lots of power cuts should end the foolish frenzy – they’ll soon be declaring undying love of fossil fuels when the kettles stop boiling or phones cannot be charged! People who do not understand energy should not be left in charge of it and need to understand climate change is natural, always has been, always will be – humanity can only adapt to it, not control it – those that say we can control it, are simply net profiteers of the false prophet alarmism
China and India were busy with COPout26
China, India and Russia must be laughing their low cost, reliable energy rich socks off at the COP26 circus clown fest
So far, the ONLY thing produced by COP26 has been words, signed papers and media coverage . . . not a single action has actually occurred beyond these things as a result of this conference.
No reduction in fossil fuel power plants.
No rate of change in transitioning to green, renewable, intermittent energy sources.
No reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
No reduction in average global temperature.
No change (that I’m aware of) in currently bogus/useless climate models.
Too many people, and most of the MSM, today equate promises with actual performance . . . and they fail to see what has not-resulted from doing such in the past.
Just unbelievable!
Gordon A. Dressler,
You accurately observe,
“So far, the ONLY thing produced by COP26 has been words, signed papers and media coverage . . . not a single action has actually occurred beyond these things as a result of this conference.“
Yes, and that is because the global warming scare was killed at the Copenhagen CoP in 2009 when it was discovered that a successor Treaty to the Kyoto Protocol could not be obtained. Since then the issue has been continuing to run like a headless chicken running around a farmyard. Its actions have the appearance of life, but it is dead.
The corpse was confirmed as being dead when the Paris Agreement was reached. The Agreement demands that countries make promises to do things which will not be monitored and no country has a reason to do.
Vested interests can use – and are using – the movements of the corpse to their advantage. Others are pretending they don’t know the global warming scare was killed in 2009.
The rest of us need to defend ourselves against actions of the vested interests who, for example, are damaging electricity supplies by imposing wind powered and solar powered subsidy farms: the harvested subsidies are reaped from our pockets.
Richard
“Cutting methane” seems to be incompatible with eating more beans instead of meat.
That’s pure BS.
Maybe Boris will recommend cremation instead of burials to replace wood chips
Where is the repudiation of UK burning of forests with tax credits using other people’s forests!!
“UK PM Boris Johnson has claimed COP26 is “snipping the wires on the climate doomsday device”
Are those the power wires to poor peoples homes ?
Boris is obviously controlled more by what is below his ample waistline than above it.
I don’t understand the lack of ambition at COP. It is clear their goals and commitments are not in any way constrained by the laws of physics or economics, nor informed by real science or objective facts. That being the case why didn’t they go all out? Why didn’t COP delegates agree to free “green” energy for everyone all the time without limits? Why not promise an idyllic existence in a newly made garden of eden complete with prancing ponies, vegan barbecues and naked nymphs of many genders with hearty sexual urges and no expectations? Why not promise endless travel, unlimited freedom and all you can eat buffets for anyone willing to say “CO2 is pollution” with a straight face? There is so much more they could commit to: endless binge watching of 90-day fiancé, self washing Tesla bidets (careful with the auto pilot boys), vegan livestock, doubling of biodiversity by next Thursday, a cure for acne. Pesonally I think we should expect more from our “leadership”.
modi, jingping and putin are not concern about the plandemic they are just politely giving the ipcc the bird which is what the democrats will do when they retake office.
