Watch: Morano’s full 25 min speech on Climate Lockdowns at Heartland Skeptic Conference in Las Vegas

CFACT’s Marc Morano gave a rousing speech addressing “Degraded Science and the Coming Great Reset.” Morano pulled headlines and quotes from mainstream media outlets that advocate for climate lockdowns that mimic covid lockdowns in the name of “saving the planet.” Under a climate lockdown, Morano explained, there would be little to no air travel, no new clothing, no private property, no meat eating, and of course, no use of traditional, reliable fossil fuel energy.

“If you’ve loved the last year and a half living under covid lockdowns, you’ll LOVE the coming climate lockdowns,” Morano quipped.

[This is queued up at the beginning of Marc’s presentation, but the whole science track meetings on Sunday the 17th are in this video~cr]

Keep it up. These are the sorts of speeches that will make normal people go “Let’s just live with it being a tiny bit hotter because I’m not signing up for that rubbish.”

One of the things that the media will hardly ever say , and is never mentioned much anywhere is the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere .
The present level is 0.04% .
Of which about 97% is caused naturally . Even the IPCC only claim that 5% is human caused , and with all of their lies it is certainly less than that .
Of all of the human caused CO2 , the UK only makes about 1% of the total , [ the USA might be only 15% .

Then you finish up with the fact the the UKs total CO2 production is just 0.000012% of the atmosphere , [ the USA does 0.00018% ].

Anybody who believes that those tiny amounts could have any measureable effect on climate is either delusional , or deliberately lying to further their agenda .

So the whole propaganda scheme against fossil fuels is designed to cost Western economies huge amounts of money .

I applaud your post In The Real World. But I calculate the percent of CO2 in the atmosphere to be 4/100th of one percent (417 divided by !000000) or .0004%). By any standard this is a microscopic presence of no consequence as a source of Global warming or climate change. The conduct of the climate alarmists has been to constantly try to change a mouse into an elephant.

Bill , it is a bit confusing with all of the noughts & percentages ,but I did work it out a few times to try to make sure .https://www.heartland.org/news-opinion/news/global-warming-myth-debunked-humans-have-minimal-impact-on-atmospheres-carbon-dioxide-and-climate

But mouse into elephant ? I would say , more like the effect p*ssing in the ocean would have on sea level rise .

Real people like warm weather… which is why the sunbelt states in the US are growing like gangbusters and northern tier states are shrinking like gangbusters. I live and do business in Florida, and new residents and tourists alike have been setting all time records this past year. FL has grown in population by almost three million since the 2010 census.

Alternatively DO NOT bother to read George Monbiot :
“We can save capitalism or the planet – not both”

I must have missed something in my economics education. For the life of me capitalism means no more than using capital to generate income with a view to creating more capital. And when you have capital or income surplus to needs you get to do other stuff with it.

And I then ask the follow up question. What else would you do with capital?

At the end of Monbiot’s essay, the paper notes: “George Monbiot is a Guardian columnist”. No doubt, they mean that he’s a Guardian communist. His essay is nuts.

No, Monbiot and many of the Guardian’s columnists are not either fools or idiots, they are dangerous propagandists driving to anxiety or unacceptable actions whole generation of young poorly educated or badly informed people. Once they penetrate all spheres of science, power and the decision making a bloodless revolution will creep onto western democratic societies and it may be next to the impossible to reverse it. The obvious lack of courage in the traditional media (e.g. Telegraph, Times etc, in the UK) to take them had on, it will back fire and in no time they will loose their freedom to provide true and verifiable information.
To paraphrase JO’Bryan’s quote from George Orwell below “If you want a vision of the future, imagine a jackboot stamping on a human freedom – forever”.

I’m not so sure it’s just “young poorly educated or badly informed people” who fall for this crap. Massachusetts is a hot bed for climate lunacy and it’s considered one of the best educated parts of America. Perhaps it’s all about a need for a religion to give people a mission which they can’t develop on their own. Revivalism for a faith happens….

“Best educated” is coming to mean “best indoctrinated”. The educational system is one of the worst weapons being used on America and the West in general.

Seattle is also considered one of the best educated places. Yet there is rampant homlessness and drug use, they’re pushing to legalize all misdemeanor offenses, etc.

Public schools provide schooling, not education. There’s a world of difference between the two. Just because a person has spent 15 or more years attending an institution doesn’t mean the are educated. More likely they’re just institutionalized.

The comments to that Monbiot garbage are instructive. Living in the Portland OR area it would not surprise me if a significant fraction of the local population thinks as this commenting moron does (love the “pre-Stalin” qualifier):

“What we actually require is an environmental movement akin to the Communist International, and an end goal which, like the Russian revolution, at least pre-Stalin, shows that a different form of life is possible. We need to be ambitious and imaginative, but we have to accept and embrace the fact that our goal is anti-systemic. The idea of green capitalism is a myth that will take us over the precipice.”

George Monbiot has amply demonstrated that he is not a credible source of opinion.

Let that sink in.

My latest paper is temporarily published here:
SCIENTIFIC COMPETENCE – THE ABILITY TO CORRECTLY PREDICT”
by Allan MacRae, B.A.Sc., M.Eng., October 2021

(excerpt)

The ability to correctly predict is the best objective measure of scientific and technical competence.

Following are the correct predictions of Allan MacRae and colleagues on two important subjects:
– GLOBAL WARMING ALARMISM
– COVID-19 LOCKDOWNS AND ”VACCINES”

Our scientific predictions on both these subjects are infinitely more accurate than the mainstream narratives, which have been false and baselessly alarmist to date.

Since any form of critical thinking is now taboo – and they’ve had at least three decades to indoctrinate the young, incrementally – now it’s only the older [hated] people who can manage to think and judge for themselves.

The Jesuit thing of getting them young has been confirmed to work.

I will be more than happy to watch this person build his own dwelling out of rough-hewn logs, chink the walls against the weather, build a working fireplace which must heat the entire cabin (no more than 2 rooms and no bathroom) and provide a means of cooking food, and no refrigerator to keep rats away from your leftover food.

I can’t figure out if his “speech” was a warning or a threat, so I’ll just take it as both, and go back to reading Regency novels that don’t idealize stupidity.

Oh, cotton-pickin’!! When I went out into the 34F morning to get the paper, with the Moon slowly sinking westward, I realized that while it may be taken the wrong way, Morano was handing a warning to anyone within hearing (including online viewers) that we must take NOTHING for granted, including our freedom to move about and go where we please.

We should be grateful that he gave that speech. Forewarned is fore-armed.

Absolutely. She knew the Regency Period like the back of her hand. The Tollgate has precise descriptions of how food was cooked and kept out of reach of 4-leggers, with no references to refrigeration because there was none back then, unless you were wealthy enough to afford an ice house.

I just finished watching the video. The data and science was impressive. Please take the following as constructive criticism only. The presentation was amateur at best. We must find a way to present facts, data and science in a more polished and Hollywood like production. Here are a few suggestions.

Instruct the presenters how to speak into a microphone. More than once in the video I saw speakers slide the mic to a location they thought was good for picking up their voice. Mic was off to the side and a foot or more from the mouth. The speaker then would become animated and move and turn his head in and out of the field of pickup of the mic. This resulted in audio drop outs and information was lost.

Next, the power point slides. The time spent fumbling around trying to find the starting point or the correct image or screen for display must stop. The deployment of facts, data and science must precise. The facts, data and science demand it.

Next, the sequence of speaker presentations needs to change. In the video above the first presentation could be dubbed the ridicule hour, which I believe is a valuable part of any rebuttal to climate alarmism. But should not facts, data and science be first? The attention span of humans being what is is, I fear the audience we are trying to reach will tune out before the facts, data and science are presented.

Next, target the presentations to a specific demographic. Believe me when I say that there are people that are so deeply entrenched in the myth that nothing will change their minds. These are the ones that embrace the myth as cult and or religion. Ignore them. They will slowly disappear through attrition. Our focus should be the audience that believes in man made climate change because of herd mentality, augmented by virtue signaling among those in their social sphere.

The opposition that pushes the myth is clever in the way they reach the minds of the masses. We must be as clever or more in our attempt to reverse this obsession with climate.

Again, I post the above not to start an argument. Only to be constructive.
I am here to help.

Joe

What really blew me away in Mark’s Power Point presentation were the two slides that attacked critical thinking and facts for making arguments and drawing conclusions. So we peons apparently don’t need to think anymore. All of the powers that be in the Big Brother Orwellian collective have done it for us.

Just blindly believe in and obey the Marxist Big Brother Orwellians. Eventually evolution will cause the human intellect to fade away from non-use.

Five (5) Stages of Interest in Political Issues

Political scientist Anthony Downs described the downward trajectory of many political movements in an article for the Public Interest, “Up and Down With Ecology: The ‘Issue-Attention Cycle,’ ” published in 1972. Observing the movements that had arisen to address issues like crime, poverty and even the U.S.-Soviet space race, Mr. Downs discerned a five-stage cycle through which political issues pass regularly.

·       The first stage involves groups of experts and activists calling attention to a public problem, which leads quickly to

·       The second stage, wherein the alarmed media and political class discover the issue. The second stage typically includes a large amount of euphoric enthusiasm—you might call it the “dopamine” stage—as activists conceive the issue in terms of global peril and salvation.

·       The third stage: the hinge…there soon comes “a gradually spreading realization that the cost of ‘solving’ the problem is very high indeed.”

·       the fourth stage: a gradual decline in the intensity of public interest in the problem.”

·       The fifth stage – where an issue that has been replaced at the center of public concern moves into a prolonged limbo—a twilight realm of lesser attention or spasmodic recurrences of interest.”

If anyone is keen on history, the idea to use COVID19 lockdowns & restrictions to forward Build Back Better is nothing new.

During the Second World War, food rationing was introduced in the UK. However, few realize it went on until 1954, because the Left found it very useful:

Overview here:

Rationing in the United Kingdom

The Labour Party argued for the continuation of rationing indefinitely. Labour was returned, but with its majority badly slashed to 5 seats.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rationing_in_the_United_Kingdom#Post-Second_World_War_1945-1954

More detail here:

The Fall of the Atlee Government

The public frequently struggled to understand why there were continued shortages years after the end of the war. While they had been willing to make sacrifices for the war effort, there was bafflement as to why such measures were necessary once the war was over.

The people did not share Labour’s ardour for the socialist project – indeed, as Steven Fielding has argued, had probably never shared it – and proved to be far more interested in the food in their belly. Food shortages were always high on the political agenda in the late 1940s. Britons were an increasingly hedonistic lot, and that did not align with the problems and priorities of the Attlee government. Rationing and controls had an immediate impact on everyday life; there were more than 25,000 controls in all

Life in Attlee’s Britain was frequently felt to be ‘illiberal and restrictive of personal choice’.69 This was, after all, the era of Douglas Jay’s boast that ‘the gentleman in Whitehall really does know better what is good for people than the people know themselves’ – a statement that seemed to sum up Labour’s lack of empathy.

A pamphlet, A True Balance, was aimed at female voters, as was a short magazine, Home Truths. This found traction in a social context of inadequate access to even basic essentials like eggs, fat, meat, and bread; and in early 1951, the meat ration was reduced to its lowest ever level – six years after the end of the war. In 1952, an internal Labour report found that the 1951 election was lost ‘in the queue at the butcher’s or the grocer’s’. Indeed the election saw a large swing to the Conservatives among women. This was crucial in determining the outcome.

That just gives you a taste of the nutty stuff that was going on. And we find ourselves again on the same time worn path… which always requires squeezing and starving the common person for some blissful Utopia in the future. (sigh)
