It’s the 1970s all over again, and Joe Biden is the new Jimmy Carter

Reposted from NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW

OCTOBER 17, 2021

By Paul Homewood

Want proof that the Biden administration is really the second incarnation of the Carter administration? We have runaway inflation, Americans trapped overseas, a member of the first family who tried to do business with Libya and a president begging the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and allies (OPEC Plus) to increase oil production. It’s like the 1970s all over again.

Gas prices have risen $1 a gallon since Joe Biden’s election, while crude oil prices have doubled since November to $83 per barrel — and some analysts predict they could rise by another $10 before the end of the year. Natural gas prices have shot up more than 150 percent in the same period, which means winter heating bills for the half of American homes that use natural gas are projected to be 30 percent higher than last year — 49 percent higher in the Midwest.

This is the result of deliberate policy choices. Biden has made clear his intention to tax and regulate the fossil fuel industry out of existence. During the 2020 campaign, he declared, “I guarantee you. We’re going to end fossil fuel.”

Well, those threats have consequences. Today, the number of rigs producing oil across the United States is 528, roughly half its 2019 peak under President Donald Trump. When you tell oil producers you plan to put them out of business, they are not going to bolster production or drill more wells. When your $3.5 trillion “Build Back Better” plan would impose punitive taxes oil and gas, the producers are going to get the picture that building back better doesn’t include them.

And when you make clear you plan to destroy an industry, banks and investment firms stop investing in it. The New York Times reports that the “flow of capital from Wall Street has slowed to a trickle after a decade in which investors poured over $1.4 trillion into North American oil and gas producers through stock and bond issues and loans” as woke capitalists “pare their exposure to fossil fuels to meet the commitments they have made to fight climate change.” BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, has announced that it intends to have “net zero emissions across our entire assets under management by 2050.”

The result? Less fossil fuel production and higher prices — with lower-income Americans who can afford it the least penalized the most at the pump.

But this documentary happened in the Trump era (ice age)

There was a recent article about how rich leftwingers funded a movement to replace the government employees who used to handle the examination and counting of ballots with private employees, selected by the rich leftwintgers. There job was to find a way to make sure that every ballot, no matter how badly messed up, was counted.
Of course these leftwing millionaires only funded such efforts in areas that traditionally supported Democrats.

If re-counting ballots only in Democrat districts violated the principle of one man one vote, surely such efforts would also violate that principle.

We are stuck with Brandon, for sure, but maybe not for 3 more years. The 25th Amendment says that if the President should be unable to perform his/her duties as President the Vice President becomes President. The trick is figuring who refers the question of the fitness of the President for medical review. If the Congress can do it, we may only have to wait one more year.

The main reason we want the Republicans to take over the U.S. House is so we can impeach Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for dereliction of duty for failing to stop the invasion of the United States by illegal aliens.

We also want to start investigations on all the criminal Democrats in and out of Congress, and the Washington DC swamp, concentrating on the criminal enterprise that was the Obama/Biden administration and continuing with the Biden administration. And Hillary. Let’s not forget Hillary. She’s the one that started and paid for this whole Russia collusion hoax. Hillary should go to jail, too..

It’s time for major reform of every government agency, and the criminals that are in these agencies should go to jail.

It’s time for Republicans to play hardball with those who seek to destory our Republic. And we know who they are. No more Mr. Nice Guy. How about it, Republicans?

Tom,
The US is not being “invaded”. Ilegal immigration might be higher than in previous years but not significantly so. And the recent surge began under Trump and is due mostly to COVID devastating the economies of Southern and Central America which is not something you can blame on Biden and Harris. Finally if not stopping illegal immigration was a dereliction of duty then surely every President since Washington should have been impeached.

And can you explain why the republicans in 2024 would be any more successful in investigating Obama when they failed in 2020 despite being in control of all three branches of government?

As of August 2021, CBP enforcement actions have increased 169.3% over 2020’s TOTAL – as in ~10 months of fiscal year 2021 (fiscal year ends 9/30).

https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/stats/cbp-enforcement-statistics

We’ll have to remember that apparently a 169.3% increase (and much higher once the full numbers are in) is “not significant” the next time someone wants to argue that a claimed 0.7-degree temperature increase or 0.1 pH decrease is so devastating.

“And can you explain why the republicans in 2024 would be any more successful in investigating Obama when they failed in 2020 despite being in control of all three branches of government?”

I think the presidential election of 2020 has opened a lot of Republican eyes.

I also think the upcoming 2022 elections are going to weed out the weak-kneed Republicans and replace them with America-First Republicans.

Biden won Arizona by about 10,500 votes. There were over 50,000 illegal/invalid votes cast in Arizona’s elections. You do the math. And this same situation occurred in all the Battleground States. In some cases more votes were cast in a precinct that there were voters. Republicans aren’t buying the 2020 election. And they are mad about it. So, we’ll see what happens.

And Trump is drawing 50,000 or so attendees to every monthly political rally he has held so far. And he is going to run again and is probably going to be elected, considering the alternatives. Let’s see how fast Trump can undo the damage Biden has done.

Our Founders mandated a secret ballot for obvious reasons.
The downside is that fraudulent voting is nearly impossible to detect and then prove.

You do have to be really incompetent to get caught.
The Democrat solution? Further loosen voting integrity by eliminating signature requirements and voter identification, increasing ballot distribution and prohibiting rational verification of voting registrations.

That’s right. We can see there were a lot of questionable ballots cast but we can’t change the results with only that. There is the possibility that the election in Arizona will be decertified, but that’s probably not going to happen, and it would not change the outcome of the election even if Trump won Arizona. He needed three more of the Battleground States to win, which he almost got in 2020. Biden only won by about 50,000 votes total in the Battleground States.

The only reasonable thing we can do is to try to make sure that only legal voters vote in the next election and beyond. That’s freedoms only hope.

No doubt, the Democrats are going to do everything they can to allow illegal aliens to vote in U.S. elections. The Democrats figure most of the illegal aliens will vote for Joe and the Democrats since that’s who is paying them right now with promises to pay them more in the future. What’s not to like from an illegal alien’s perspcetive?.

In 2017 and 2018, Republicans technically had control, except RINOs ‘Republicans in Name Only’ are full fledged members of the uniparty and vote in concord with democrats; so long as they get their cut of pork. RINOs consistently voted with democrats in all four years of Trump’s Administration.

If nothing is done about election integrity, then the Dems will “win” most of the House and Senate seats in 2022 now that they know they can get away with it. The “polls” don’t mean anything when 93% of ballots go into adjudication (Fulton County). They don’t even have the Presidential election to worry about. They’ll leave a few seats to some Rinos, because it’s handy to have some opposition around on which they can put the blame for the many things that will go wrong, and also to keep the illusion of Democracy going … They might even have enough seats to rewrite the Constitution.

The bit I find puzzling is why they believe ending fossil fuel before an alternative available will produce anything other than chaos?

My theory is they have a magical belief in engineers. They don’t understand them, they don’t like the way engineers talk back and make them feel stupid whenever they propose running the country on renewables, so they convince themselves the engineers just need to be nudged in the right direction, be given a bit of direction, then they’ll knuckle down and sort everything out.

Plenty of examples of this kind of thinking in “Atlas Shrugged”.

Speaking from the perspective of an engineer, good engineers take pride in being problem solvers. The more difficult the problem the more skill required to solve it. Engineers must also recognize their limitations. Not getting it right can kill.

But it is also critical that engineers recognize that they cannot do the impossible and make that clear to those who ask them to.

I got process plans from Finance one year that were exactly that. Only they depicted it as a blue cloud.

Everything went into the cloud, magic happened and magic stuff came out. Apparently it was good stuff as it made everyone happy. They didn’t define it, but the recipients were happy:

  • No detailed data items.
  • No detailed data methods,
  • No detailed data sources, format, significant numbers, etc.
  • No detailed data processing requirements,
  • No data storage requirements,
  • No data handlings post processing or further handlings.

They had seven graphics. Every one had a blue cloud where magic happened. They took years to come up with their “processes” and I had months to implement.
Did I mention that they were promoted imperious accountants?

Some I’ve talked to can not grasp that the energy output of a solar cell cannot exceed the energy it receives from the sun. They believe engineers can simply replicate Moore’s law using solar cells. And they have zero understanding of how much energy we use. We’ll just put a bunch of batteries in a big ol’ warehouse, and run the city on batteries for the two or three days the wind doesn’t blow. Sure. Easy.

It’s really useless. Sometimes you have to let them suffer the consequences of their ignorance, and try to minimize the effect it will have on you.

Coal was used to power the steam engines which not only removed water from the mines to allow more coal to be mined, it also drove the machines that transported the coal. The same was largely true for oil although it had to be refined first.

We have seen no similar examples of self-sustaining production in renewables. How can renewables be scaled up to power a modern economy when they are not used to power the factories that produces the solar panels and wind turbines?

Think pointy haired bosses in the Dilbert strip, only more assertive and far insulated from engineers and other hard science/mathematics experts that only confuse the executives.

These are executives who decide major business factors based upon ten seconds of information, none of which is detailed or technical. And they hate to change their decisions.

They believe that if they fire/replace enough incomprehensible techies, the vague work they are demanding will be accomplished, on time…

Indeed, Carter was decent and wanted to do the right thing. Biden’s family stuck him in the Senate to give him a job and keep him out of their business. Most families have a dullard somewhere that needs to be kept out of trouble.

I thought Carter was the worst president in my life until biden, but I don’t remember him being THIS BAD. biden has, in my opinion, completely moved the bar on utter irresponsibility and total incompetence to a new level. So saying biden is as bad as Carter is giving biden too much credit – he is much worse.

Jimmy was too concerned with being a man of peace. This became leverage that could be used against him. Being a man of peace, a foreign actor could commit just about any act of war, and Jimmy couldn’t respond without breaking his main conviction. Ronald Reagan on the other hand would joke “We’ve outlawed communism, the bombs are flying” on a supposedly muted hot-mike. Causing Gorbachev to shit his pants and walk a fine line.

Nope, nope, nope.

Crude oil production in the US dropped dramatically starting in March 2020 due to a crash in oil demand due to COVID, which naturally caused a steep reduction in oil prices. US producers produce according to prevailing prices, not political rhetoric.

Then starting in late 2020 the world economy cranked up again, as everyone knows, and the immediate result was a runup in oil prices. EIA and industry leaders now predict the inevitable runup in US oil production through next year with the expectation that oil prices will then come back down to somewhere less than today’s price of $90 per bbl to around $72/bbl … and likely lower still if supply inevitably overshoots demand.

World oil prices are totally a function of supply vs demand which has nothing to do with who is in the White House. In fact US oil production peaked in 2019 and has been coming down ever since, with acceleration in the drop hitting with COVID.

Supply vs demand, not politics.

Sure its supply vs demand, but politics has choked off the supply, like Biden’s ban on new leases and pipeline cancellations. In a hostile environment, people stop investing. The USA would be awash with oil if Trump was still at the helm.

Eric,
Given the timelag between investing in new oilwells and them producing oil there is no way any of Biden’s policies can be responsible for the current shortage. Do you really think that in 6 months a oil company could apply for a new off-shore lease, build a rig and start producing oil? Any shortages in 2021 are due to Trump’s polices not Biden’s.

when your lease is canceled due to presidential whim appeasing the watermelon left then you have no option but to stop producing from that lease this has an IMEDIATE effect on supply then you have a choice you either write off the investment or wait it out but the instant effect is still there try again but be intellectually honest this time.

Biden’s ignorance and incompetence has led form one disaster to another. He has become the disaster President. He seems to have so little authority at the White House that he has to get permission to answer questions. Getting the most incompetent people to fill positions in his administration has not helped matters either. Who ever is actually calling the shots is trying to take the USA apart. After cutting energy production with the hope of cutting CO2 emissions he has a lot of gall to ask foriegn producers for more fossil fuels to burn. Cutting fuel production without an adequate alternative has been a really stupid idea. If we are really going to cut energy use so as to fight climate change then we do not need all of this infrastructure. If we are trying to cut energy use then we should not be adding people to this country through illegal integration. Maybe it would be best to stop foriegn trade considering the energy use involved. I think it would be best for all if Joe Biden concentrated on personally fighting climate change by remaining in his basement in Delaware in strict climate lockdown.

A Professor Wadhams (sp?) at Cambridge University predicted, in 2000, that the Arctic would be “ice-free” by 2015. (Note that “ice-free” means less than 1 million square kilometres of ice). The professor is an expert on the Arctic.
He revised his prediction in 2013 to be icwe-free in 2017, IIIRC, and then revised it agin in 2015 to make it 2020 (again IIRC).
Of course, that famous climate scientist, former Vice President Al Gore, also predicted that the Arctic would be ice-free.
Others have joined in the predictions, but I don’t have the references.

Go to that website that someone posted a few days ago:

extinctionclock.org

It has what the claim was, and where it was published; it has yet-to-be-fulfilled (with a countdown clock) prognostications, as well as ‘use-by-this-date’ prognostications, and how long ago the failed prediction was (with a count-up clock). Just grab the documentation from the website, and direct your acquaintances to each reference. You know that if you hand them the website and say, ‘go look at this’, they won’t.

Hope that helps, and my Regards to you and yours,

Biden and the Democrats were very clear on what they were running on; resist Trump, put people out of work, resist Trump, close businesses, resist Trump, raise taxes, resist Trump, take away rights, resist Trump.

Why is everyone so surprised that they are attempting to fulfill the agenda they made? If you voted Biden, assuming the election wasn’t actually rigged, then this is what you voted for. Why are folks surprised?

Just an observation, Politicians and bureacrats are not the brightest. But the Bankers and investors are. Look at what has been happening. Sell the fossil fuel utilities, drive down their share prices. Deny them the ability to raise capita. Buy the gas and coal futures. Watch the fuel markets skyrocket. In the short run Governments and voters will scream for more fossil fuels . But the activists and Bankers will say; Its because there wasnt enough windmills. We have to build more and more!! Think of the subsidies!

Under Carter it was “Drive 55” to save oil, because OPEC was running out of oil.

Under Biden, it’s “Drive 0” to get rid of oil to save the earth, but OPEC should increase production to drive oil prices down.

“This is the result of deliberate policy choices. Biden has made clear his intention to tax and regulate the fossil fuel industry out of existence. During the 2020 campaign, he declared, “I guarantee you. We’re going to end fossil fuel.””

************

Absolutely, and I have suggested this before: Everyone in the fossil fuel industry needs to lay out a timetable for shutting down all fossil fuel power plants and oil refineries by the end of Biden’s first term (assuming he gets that far). The glorious transformation to a Green energy economy can then begin.

Once the economy has collapsed (or nearly so), then Biden and company can Build Back Marxist …..or something like that. Of course, the whole debacle will be the fossil fuel industry’s fault, so Building Back Marxist will be completely justified.

Once we are all happily living in a wind and solar Green energy utopia, Congress should make Biden’s birthday a national holiday after he’s gone. Such a glorious economic and energy transformation should not go without being celebrated each year. /sarc

It appears all of us in (formerly) wealthy western democratic nations will have a chance to sample life in the centrally planned socialist utopia we have all been promised by clear-thinking, benevolent prophets such as Sleepy Joe, Greta Thunderpants and that modestly living film ego Leonardo something or other. We will get the chance whether we want it or not – that’s a feature of socialism, not a flaw or so it seems. Let’s all pay attention to how our lives are transformed for the better (or shorter). We are about to inherit the gifts of progressivism. We should all be grateful for the opportunity to contribute to Earth’s abundance with our withering corpses once things get into full gear. If we don’t fight for sanity now we will lose the opportunity to fight later.
