According to the UN’s MyWorld poll of seven million people in 194 countries, out of the sixteen possibilities climate action came out … wait for it … dead last.
In general, the only people who thought it was important were the perpetually offended white wokerati with pronouns …
Why is it that rational folks around the planet put the priority of climate action so low? Well, first off, there are serious issues out there that affect us today—affordable food, jobs, healthcare, reliable energy for farmers and householders, real stuff, not a bunch of climate blowhards screaming that the sky is falling.
And the second reason is, folks know in their heart of hearts that science is all about making falsifiable predictions … and in that regard, climate science is a dumpster fire.
So I thought I’d take a look at what climate scientists, and those who believe climate scientists, and governments, and the UN, have predicted about the future. We’ll start with this classic:
Yeah, right, that hasn’t aged well … here’s another classic from the UN. They predicted 50 million climate refugees by 2010 … and when the real number was, well, zero, they tried to cover it up.
So to cut to the chase, here without comment and in no particular order are predictions from various climatastrophists:

Given that, only someone with pronouns could continue to think that these folks are serious. So why do the scientists involved continue to flog this dead horse?

Yep. The answer is money. And it’s not just the scientists, the UN, and the media who have been seduced by it. The cartoonist Josh has looked at the end series of UN “COP” get-togethers, with the upcoming one being COP26 … I figure COP stands for “Corrupt Oligarchs’ Party”, but hey, that’s just me. In any case, Josh has seen to the heart of the matter.
And those, dear friends, are among the many reasons that the world, or at least the sane portion thereof, puts climate action at the very bottom of their priority list.

THE GREENS’ PREDICTIVE CLIMATE AND ENERGY RECORD IS THE WORST
The ability to predict is the best objective measure of scientific and technical competence.
Climate doomsters have a perfect NEGATIVE predictive track record – every very-scary climate prediction, of the ~80 they have made since 1970, has FAILED TO HAPPEN.

With the passage of time, many of these forecasts have since expired; the dates have come and gone uneventfully. In fact, 48 (61%) of the predictions have already expired as of the end of 2020.”
To end 2020, the climate doomsters were proved wrong in their scary climate predictions 48 times – at 50:50 odds for each prediction, that’s like flipping a coin 48 times and losing every time! The probability of that being mere random stupidity is 1 in 281 trillion! It’s not just global warming scientists being stupid.
These climate doomsters were not telling the truth – they displayed a dishonest bias in their analyses that caused these extremely improbable falsehoods, these frauds.
There is a powerful logic that says no rational person or group could be this wrong for this long – they followed a corrupt agenda – in fact, they knew they were lying.
The global warming alarmists have a NO predictive track record – they have been 100% wrong about every scary climate prediction – nobody should believe them.
The radical greens have NO credibility, make that NEGATIVE credibility – their core competence is propaganda, the fabrication of false alarm.
It’s like watching one of those bobblehead toys: as with the impending doom of an out of control train flying down the tracks, you can’t take your eyes off it, but you really don’t want to look. So you do… and then you wish you hadn’t… and then you look again… and you fall down laughing until your stomach hurts… because the train was really made of cookie dough and frosting and you still get to have one with your hot cocoa…..
Why haven’t these Mavens of Doom done any forecasting on the Atlantic ridge zone and the Icelandic and Las Palmas volcanoes having their fun? I mean, that activity alone indicates that the Atlantic basin is (OBVIOUSLY!!!!!) going to crack wide open and the devastation from that alone will End Everything As We Know It!!!!…. or something like that.
Now, that didn’t cost anyone any cash, did it?

Imagine the amount spent on reducing CO2 emissions having instead been spent on cleaning up real pollution and creating first class recycling systems.
The atmospheric CO2 level only increased 1/100th of one percent in the sixty years from 1960 until 2020. CO2 level is not a significant factor regarding global warming or climate change.
The crude estimate I have seen is that US, state, local, and federal governments spend $9T a year, 40% of GDP. If half of that is wasted misdirection of free markets, GDP growth would be 20% higher without it. No matter how crude and simplistic that is, it sounds plausibly in the ballpark, especially when you consider how much private spending is wasted getting around government, such as the estimated 6 billion hours people spend figuring out personal income taxes every year.
Free Markets do not impair production in America. Production directly contributes to GDP, from farming and mining right up to sophisticated programs and electronic components production is easily net positive.
As every faux democracy free market set up by communist states have learned, free markets are distinct GDP financial generating engines.
Monopolies, group agreements, socialist efforts, nationalism, government involvement in businesses and government backed inventions, etc. are all huge negatives to GDP as Biden just proved.
Government monitoring, regulation and enforcement produce zero GDP.
EPA? A 100% money sink that frequently destroys entire industries. DOE? Another sink.

To me that is the entire purpose of Steve Koonin’s book, to refute journalists, activists and government malfeasance of what science there is.
It is comedy to watch the “fact checkers” point out that many of the various points Koonin refutes are false to start with, which to me shows the joke.
These are all lies told by alarmists that the “climate scientists” stay quiet about.

Yes, the politicians like AOC and Kerry keep suspiciously promoting the year 2030 as being the point of no return, but without scientific support for that specific year.
Coincidentally, 2030 is the year that Dr. Landscheidt predicts the upcoming mini ice age will be fully engaged. It makes one suspicious this explains their frantic urgency, for that is when their fraud will be fully exposed.
There is a market for scary stories, with the precise content varying.
Whether it is evangelical Christians following predictions of the Second Coming, or greens and whatever dread threat is about to destroy the environment, the psychological impulse is much the same. Something of a suspension of disbelief, cheering the prophet, and not really changing all that much.

Some evangelical Christians have weird ideals about the Second Coming which does not accord with the plain sense of the New Testament. However, the teaching about the second coming is not about a global catastrophe but something more sober and far worse: It is about accountability. It is about a day when all people will be held accountable for all the bad things they have done and for all their failures to do good things. I do not find an emphasis on individual responsibility and accountability coming from the climate alarmists. Prof Jordan Peterson was spot on. If young people do not keep their rooms tidy (also their immediate environment) their protests about everyone else cleaning up the world is worthless.
Um, the second coming of Christ is the antithesis of a scary story, for Christians . . The “psychological impulse” is to look forward to the end of the sort of “fear porn” under discussion here, among many other inhumane and deceitful things “the rulers of this world” engage in.
Also, there is no date attached. It could happen NOW, so be ready at any time. (Some scholars also think Revelations is more likely the result of a bad batch of rye bread; in their view, there will be no such warnings.)
Oh, and there is no such thing as “sin credits” for Christians. That got the Roman Catholic Church into deep trouble a few centuries ago. (Sadly, there are indications that they are reviving that idea these days.)
If there will be no such warnings, why would Jesus say (in Matthew);
“Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.” ?
And (in Mark);
“Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.”
And (in Luke);
“Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.”
It seems to me “some scholars” are going to be caught off-guard, so to speak, if they persist in thinking there is going to be nothing one does well to watch for. Not knowing the day or hour, is not the same as not realizing that the time is getting close, as I read the Book.

PS, I read Revelations as a mixture of metaphorical language with “signs” the “Biblically literate” can grasp the general nature of. Some becoming clearer as the Story unfolds (if one is watching things unfold ; ) and others basically providing some comfort/hope, in the face of what seems truly wrong with the world.

I had a friend in grade school (circa 1966) who was a Jehovah’s Witness, who told me that the Second Coming was to be 1975. That church has violated the principle that predictions should not be too specific.

At 102 years old, it would be hard not to be set in one’s ways, but he has changed his outlook.
And how much damage has he caused along the way?
Difficult to quantify one way or the other. Overall he’s made notable scientific contributions.
His research before and during WWII helped the war effort immensely. His invention of the electron capture detector was a great advancement for analytical chemistry.
His Gaia hypothesis represents an interesting philosophical way of seeing the world. His support of global warming is regrettable, I’ll give you that.

You are right. I was wrong about the BBC twisting his words, he obviously believes the message that was portrayed on AGW. I agree with him mostly, notwithstanding his views on greenhouse gases, but certainly on the role that nuclear energy could play.

I worked in London for a tanker brokerage 53 years ago and I used to repeatedly ask what happens to you guys if the oil runs out and they reply was always “well we will just have to do something else” not a single one then as now appears to recognise that without oil there is nothing else. Once we lose the portability of oil there is no other finite stuff to exploit, no fusion no fission no lithium no medical apparatus no catheters no blood tests no NHS in fact but the morons cannot think any further than the end of their now it is deplorable. The 396 is a theoretical “What if?” calculation for a Black Body at 16 C serving as the denominator of the emissivity ratio: 63/396=0.16. IR instruments do not measure power flux, they measure temperature and infer W/m^2 by assuming emissivity and assuming 1.0 or .95 is assuming wrong.
As demonstrated by experiment the surface cannot and does not radiate as a BB and as such there is no “extra” energy for the GHGs to warm or do whateveh.

Nick, I would simplify it much more. The “flat earth” model is a model. How good is it? For radiation we have to use the absolute temperature, measured in degrees Kelvin. The average temperature of the Earth’s surface is approximately 300 Kelvin. An error of 1% is 3 K, or about 5 degrees Fahrenheit. To get the temperature with an accuracy of 1 degree Fahrenheit, the model must be accurate to 0.2%. This model is a way too crude to achieve that.
Dividing the ISR of 1,368 by 4 = 342 averages that ISR over the spherical ToA like a ball suspended in and evenly warmed in a bucket of warm poo.
That is not even remotely how the Earth is heated.

Also, note, that according to the Climate Scientists, we may pass a tipping point at some time, but all that means is that we have “baked in” a catastrophe that won’t be observed for decades. And when that catastrophe happens, people will look back to now and say “we should have acted”.
And, if the catastrophe doesn’t happen, some with a good memory may look back and say “It is a good thing we didn’t upend our technological society, and waste all that money in doing so.”

Okay, I will state my take on The Planet’s Climate here: It is temperate, habitable, and a pleasant place to live. We have weather that gives us rain, snow, ice storms, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, blizzards, mild winter weather, bitterly cold winter weather, droughts, fog, and four seasons that occur on a recurring basis. We can barely make vaguely accurate weather forecasts, so forecasting long range stuff like REAL climate change (which we won’t see in our lifetimes) is a fantasy and not much else.
We puny humans can’t even control our own silly desires or GI tracts, so how in the blinkin’ blue-eyed world does anyone expect me to believe we can exercise control over anything on this planet? Can any of you stop a volcano from erupting? Anyone? Bueller?

Exactly right. They won’t be able to kick this 20-year doomsday prediction down the road. When no disaster shows up, they are going to have to explain why.
Warming the atmosphere 1 deg. C HAS increased the amount of potential moisture that air masses can hold by 7%………all things being equal, so with absolute certainty, heavy rain events have increased by at least that amount.
But the warming has affected the coldest places at the coldest times of year the most, not the topics.
This is mostly BENEFICIAL warming from the beneficial gas, CO2.
If it was getting too hot on the planet, the tropics(hottest places) would be the first places to have crops wrecked from excessive heat right?

The main point or clauses of falsification stand in the proposition of a condition that supposes not to happen as per/within a given premise, but in contrary if it does, it renders the premise falsified.
The false predictions more to do with the Null hypothesis.
What supposedly has to happen, under a given premise.
The conditions of false predictions, Technically has more to do with reducing the value, or refusing to add value, to a given premise
(hypothesis, theory, theorem etc.).

So, that is why so much push and shoveling towards ice melting and sea level rise… the last standing straw for the holding of anthropogenic climate hypothesis.
A clear signature of cooling of cryosphere will falsify the AGW.

The Arctic ice melt is barely outside the post-1979 norm, and that was a cold time. It’s been much warmer in the past.
And that hasn’t changed the AGW hysteria at all. The Arctic could freeze solid, it wouldn’t make any difference.
You seem to think that the climate alarmism is all based on facts. It’s not. It’s based on a) money, b) politics, and c) feelz. None of which will be changed by anything the cryosphere does.

As per standing of climate science there is two falsification clauses, conditions that supposed not to happen, as else the anthropogenic climate science stands falsified;
1- The main one- Departure-decoupling of CO2 concentration trend from the temperature trend or the warming trend.- (the falsification). (the falsification for CC hypothesis)
2- Clear signature or clear signal of cryosphere cooling.
(the falsification of AGW hypothesis).
Yes, true, no body is listening yet, as still hanging on/at the point that AGW hypothesis is not falsified yet.
(Regardless/ignoring the fact, that falsification of CC actually stands as falsification of the whole)

The cryosphere is, by definition, the part of the earth’s surface characterized by the presence of frozen water.
Most people know that when ice (“frozen water”) melts, or changes from solid ice to liquid water, it does so at a constant temperature of 0 °C (32 °F) even as it absorbs a significant amount of thermal energy.
Therefore, your phrase “accelerative warming of cryosphere” makes absolutely no sense when used in conjunction with ice melting and sea level rise.

None is a direct quote from a scientist, these are more like examples of the sub-editors art. In fact the number of predictions here from the IPCC or the literature is zero. Take the Hansen quote: President ‘has four years to save Earth’. It is not actually a quote as we normally understand the term. If you click through and read the full interview Hansen never uses those words, the closest he comes is:
We cannot now afford to put off change any longer. We have to get on a new path within this new administration. We have only four years left for Obama to set an example to the rest of the world. America must take the lead.
If the point of the piece is the poor state of science journalism – well, no argument here. But if it is an attempt to prove climate science as a discipline is alarmist.

To use your example, if James Hansen thought he was misquoted, he has an obligation to set the record straight.
But he didn’t. He said nothing even remotely resembling that.
Nor did any of the other climate scientists that you are now claiming were somehow misquoted by the baaad media. They didn’t say one word to counter the media alarmism.
Which indeed does prove that climate science as a discipline is alarmist.
The only “fail” here is your abject failure to hold scientists accountable for allowing the alarmism to go on in their names.

Not long after this prediction, at the 10 year anniversary when it was obvious the water wasn’t rising, alarmists put on a full court press where they claimed Hansen was really predicting out 30 years, not 20 years.
At the 20 year anniversary, they again insisted Hansen was really predicting much further into the future. They even got the author of the magazine article to state that Hansen was really answering about 30 years into the future.
That 30th year anniversary passed in 1988.

I believe this to be true, but I have a “but”. Looking at the My World chart, I see that just about everything above the “Action taken on climate change” line is available to most people in the first world. With notable exceptions, education, jobs, healthcare, clean water, internet access, etc. are not in short supply. Whether you’re a tenured bureaucrat or a skilled tradesman, life is looking OK. Everyone else has higher priorities.
