OPEC should also slow its production increase plan for oil. Meanwhile Russia continues to acquire investors in Artic oil development projects where there are no protesters or lawyers.

Dependency on imports of low energy density fluid is an issue but not a new issue. It’s more an issue thanks to fission plant and coal plant closure (under EU, UN pressure).

As I recall, US Congress under Trump gave the go-ahead for LNG exports by tanker – Cheniere being the first company to really ramp up exports. By 2018-20, exports exceeded imports and USA is now the 3rd biggest exporter of LNG, and could become no.1 if the trend continues past 2023. However, customers and the Industry itself have zero confidence that Biden will allow that to happen so are being quite cautious at the moment, with the knock-on effect that Russian sales are increasing to compensate.
