Putin Trolls Germany

From NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW

OCTOBER 4, 2021

By Paul Homewood

h/t Joe Public

This was Putin back in 2010, very funny, but also highly prescient.

While Europe is cursing him now, they only have themselves to blame for continuing to demonize his gas and oil :

I mean, the whole Dr Who thing has gone on so long, it’s older than me. It’s time to make it disappear.

I rather liked all of the Doctors before the revised ‘new’ series where they first tried to destroy a civilization that help time travel in their hands.

I made it through the first ‘new’ doctor, then stopped watching entirely when their second doctor started. Haven’t watched it since.

I do have many of the old episodes on VHS or DVD

My wife like the first new doctor for about two episodes before she found things to do rather than turn on the new doctor who series.

BBC really goofed. Not that BBC goofing is unusual.

The whole humanoid thing is kind insulting to some of us.

The next Dr Who should be a completely androgynous & non-humanoid, so as to let the androgynous non-humanoids that they may have a reasonable role model.

Without proper role models the androgynous non-humanoids among us feel that they are not wanted and that they do not have a voice … they feel that their future is limited. They need to be represented not only in the entertainment industry but also in politics (with Merkle stepping down, they will have absolutely no one to look up to).

The political elites in the West are all bonkers. The UK is facing a harsh winter with the utterly stupid ‘just in time’ gas delivery system. Putin has the upper hand and will use it; it doesn’t have to be that way.

The British Geological Survey has estimated that there is likely to be some 40 trillion cubic metres (1,300 trillion cubic feet) of shale gas in the ground. In 2018 the UK consumed ~2.98 tcf

Fracking will not be allowed to proceed in England, the government has announced today, following the publication of new scientific analysis.”

Boris is missing a HUGE opportunity to make the shift in the north of England from Labour to Tory permanent. Much like the economies of the American Midwest and Big Sky states were completely transformed by exploiting the Bakken and Marcellus shale formations, the same could happen in northern England with the Bowland-Hodder shale formation. All those areas devastated by the shift away from an extraction and manufacturing based economy that powered the UK in the 19th and 20th centuries could receive a HUGE boost from shale, and whichever party makes that happen will have those former coal and steel and ship building towns voting for them for at least a generation or two.

And now, sadly, they are giving out (real, not ‘peace’) Nobel prizes for computer modelling:
https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-58790160

Nobel is spinning in his grave, and science is dead.

It was concerned a metal alloy called spin glass, in which iron atoms were randomly mixed into a grid of copper atoms. Even though there are only a few iron atoms, they change the material’s magnetic properties in a radical and very puzzling manner.

But the Nobel Committee viewed spin glass as a microcosm for the complex behaviour shown by the climate – on a much larger scale.

Prof John Wettlaufer, a physicist at Yale University in New Haven, US, explained: “What emerged from the committee’s work was the duality between the study of Earth’s climate – which is complex on scales from millimetres to the size of the planet – and Giorgio Parisi’s work.

“He’s building from the disorder and fluctuations of complex systems at [the level of] their microscopic constituents… whereas the work of Syukuro Manabe is taking the components of individual processes and knitting them together to predict the behaviour of a complex physical system.

It’s incredible how they shoehorn this into CAGW.

Reply to  Zig Zag Wanderer
October 5, 2021 5:41 am

Jeez! Manabe discovered that increasing CO2 in global climate models wasn’t sufficient to raise temperature a scary amount, so he invented the water vapor positive feedback loop. Not based on observations but rather on necessity. Now all the GCMs have that feature so that all run too warm. Good job, Skippy, here’s your prize just in time for COP26.

The US and Europe, etc., are eager to commit economic suicide by restricting/eliminating coal, oil, and gas, and nuclear.

Are they off-the-charts nuts?

EXCERPT:

WIND AND SOLAR TO PROVIDE 50 PERCENT OF FUTURE NEW ENGLAND ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION
https://www.windtaskforce.org/profiles/blogs/wind-and-solar-provide-50-percent-of-future-new-england

Energy systems analysts of Denmark, Ireland, Germany, the UK, etc., have known for decades, that if you have a significant percentage of wind on your grid, you better have enough OTHER power producing plants to COUNTERACT any lack of wind available at all times, 24/7/365.

RE folks advocate:

1) Wind plus solar must provide at least 50% of the load of the NE grid.
2) Getting rid of the remaining NE nuclear plants
3) Getting rid of burning natural gas, coal, oil, propane, i.e., all those evil fossil fuels.

Fossil Fuels Still Supply 84 Percent of World Energy — And Other Eye Openers from BP’s Annual Review

Coal, 27%; Natural Gas, 24%; Oil, 33%; Nuclear, 4%; Hydro, 6%; Renewables 5%
https://www.forbes.com/sites/rrapier/2020/06/20/bp-review-new-highs-in-global-energy-consumption-and-carbon-emissions-in-2019/?sh=4714e7f066a1

This article:

1) Provides an easy-to-understand analysis of what would be required for battery storage systems during multi-day wind/solar lulls
2) Assumes “wind plus solar” is 50% of what power producers would annually load onto the New England grid.
3) Analyzes 3 counter-acting strategies; battery systems; CCGT plants; hydro-electricity imports from Canada
4) Assumes a 6-day wind/solar lull is equal to 15% of what would be NORMALLY produced during the lull, annual average basis.

EXCERPT:

WORLD AND US PRIMARY ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND CAPITAL COST
https://www.windtaskforce.org/profiles/blogs/world-total-energy-consumption

World energy consumption is projected to increase to 736 quads in 2040 from 575 quads in 2015, an increase of 28%, according to the US Energy Information Administration, EIA.
See URL and click on PPT to access data, click on to page 4 of PowerPoint
https://www.eia.gov/outlooks/ieo/

Most of this growth is expected to come from countries not in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, OECD, and especially from countries where demand is driven by strong economic growth, particularly in Asia.

Non-OECD Asia, which includes China and India, accounted for more than 60% of the world’s total increase in energy consumption from 2015 through 2040.

PARIS AGREEMENTS

China, India, and other developing Asian countries, and Africa, and Middle and South America, need to use low-cost energy, such as coal, to be competitive. They would not have signed up for “Paris”, if they had not been allowed to be more or less exempt from the Paris agreements

Obama agreed to commit the US to the Paris agreements, i.e., be subject to its financial and other obligations for decades.
However, he never submitted the commitment to the US Senate for ratification, as required by the US Constitution.
Trump rescinded the commitment. It became effective 3 years later, one day after the US presidential elections on November 3, 2020.

If the US had not left “Paris”, a UN Council likely would have determined a level of renewable energy, RE, spending, say $500 billion/y, for distributing to various poorer countries by UN bureaucrats.
The Council would have assessed OECD members, likely in proportion to their GDPs.
The US and Europe would have been assessed at 100 to 150 billion dollars/y each.
The non-OECD countries likely would continue to be more or less exempt from paying for the Paris agreements.

EXCERPT:

HIGH COSTS OF WIND, SOLAR, AND BATTERY SYSTEMS IN US NORTHEAST
https://www.windtaskforce.org/profiles/blogs/high-costs-of-wind-solar-and-battery-systems

This article presents the all-in cost of wind, solar and battery systems in the US Northeast.
Table 1 shows the all-in cost of wind and solar are much greater than reported by the media, etc.

Much of the cost is shifted from Owners of these systems to taxpayers and ratepayers, and added to government debts

If Biden was smart, he’d encourage the construction of LNG export terminals along the east coast, to ship some of the Marcellus Shale gas to Europe to keep them warm if Putin cuts off the gas. This would re-unite the NATO countries into a natural-gas alliance as a counterweight to Putin’s aggression in Ukraine.

Even though this would make sense, it’s about as realistic as unicorn farts. Biden just isn’t smart, or he’s intentionally trying to weaken our country, by killing OUR pipelines and building pipelines from Russia to Germany!

As I recall, US Congress under Trump gave the go-ahead for LNG exports by tanker – Cheniere being the first company to really ramp up exports. By 2018-20, exports exceeded imports and USA is now the 3rd biggest exporter of LNG, and could become no.1 if the trend continues past 2023. However, customers and the Industry itself have zero confidence that Biden will allow that to happen so are being quite cautious at the moment, with the knock-on effect that Russian sales are increasing to compensate.
