The climate crisis presents unique and complex challenges to the mental health and wellness of individuals and communities. The need for interventions at a global scale increasingly leads mental health providers to look toward large group interventions. This article outlines a number of the more popular group approaches. It informs psychiatrists about the climate distress groups that our patients may access and advances our understanding of these groups’ methods, which may help psychiatry’s own public health response.

The Work That Reconnects (TWTR) is an approach developed by Joanna Macy, PhD, and is described as a “transformative learning process.”9 TWTR incorporates aspects of deep ecology, systems theory, eco-psychology, Buddhism, and activism. … Instead of turning away from the problem, group members reframe and honor their feelings, and then develop fresh perspectives intended to bring about “The Great Turning,” a societal transformation from an industrial, growth, and consumer-based society to a more equitable and sustainable one.

No doubt climate grief suffers will achieve a happier, more adjusted mental state after being offered a choice between accepting the end of the world with a smile, or ditching capitalism and embracing a simple communal sharing mentality.
Interestingly many group leaders advocating rejection of consumerism and acceptance of the coming climate catastrophe appear to accept payment for the services they provide. No doubt the act of handing over money helps propel the healing transformation from consumerist obsessed climate guilt to a simpler more positive mental outlook which involves owning less stuff.

Yahbbut, they won’t be using clothes dryers, and it takes a while to dry clothing on the clothesline, so that nasty greenhouse gas won’t be visible to them. It’ll be a miracle! The water will just disappear to some place unknown, and the laundry will be dry!!!
That’s unless, of course, it’s winter and the washing hung out to dry freezes instead. That was always fun, but I earned $.50 for hanging laundry every week, and nobody minded if the shirts froze stiff. You had to be there….
Sara, I’m from Winnipeg and can assure you clothes dry very well on the line in crisp cold weather (grew up in the 40s and 50s). My mother washed clothes in the bathtub, and the kids helped wring them by hand (there were ‘wringer washers’ but we didnt have one) and then out to hang clothes, sheets, etc on the line. For the first half hour or so, the bedsheets were like sheets of plywood but, they soon dried.
The first thing that should occur to them, Sara, is that while trees are renewable they won’t grow at a sufficient pace to keep up with their new rate of consumption. These basement dwellers have no idea what they are advocating. I guess they think they will just stay in their parents basement with free room and board and the heat will magically come out of the air vents on cloudy windless winter days.
IF they only knew how much CO2 their mobile phones and social media require. Then realize how much stress and anxiety they could relieve by turning the damn things off to go fly a kite. Which is what I suggest they do every time they start up on how I am killing the planet.
I can’t stop giggling at the whole idea that any of them think it’s vaguely possible to go off the electric grid and still survive. If it’s true that they electricity comes out of wall plugs (and some of them do so), they are not going to do well at all…. and I won’t feel sorry for them, nor will I feed them if they wander into my camp.
Is it TWO generations now that think supply of “stuff” is endless? Yeah, well, I also cook… from scratch.
There is some hope, despite the silliness: I see plenty of people who are not like that at all. Therefore, they’ll survive and the rest will just sort of fade into bird songs and firefly signals. There are two sides to that coin, one of which is the side that is not like that at all.

If these therapists didn’t inform their patients about the existence of skeptic climate scientists and science-based sources of AGW skeptic info like WUWT which could have alleviated their patients’ anxiety, could they be hit with some kind of medical malpractice lawsuit?
We had better hope this feeling of despondence about the future is not shared by the majority of today’s youth. It is absolutey sinful how things like this are being used to rob today’s youth’s hope. No wonder suicide has increased when you see nothing but hopelessness in the future.

So American Scientist Editors are preaching advocacy for kids when they don’t even know how old they are at the same time they are violating the Sigma Xi constitution forbidding influencing legislation by raising money to send subscriptions to schools in states with legislation. I may, others possibly, have made an impact as they now omit (hiding?) from their solicitation the legislation subjects of climate change, evolution, and vaccines. They are getting some pushback from other members, including that they should resign, Lysenko brought up. They are lessening the value that many American Scientist articles have. Their current interest in diversity is with art and music, no offense to those in those professions. And of course the usual unscientific diversity.

The simplest solution would be to convince these morons that they know nothing about global warming and there is nothing “equitable” about where the electricity you use comes from.
Climate anxiety is reportedly a serious problem among children. Our schools have been active in spreading this false alarm. I have written several missives to the Alberta Teachers Association and the Alberta Minster of Education, strongly advising against this harmful and unscientific nonsense.
Both have yet to reply in a rational manner – we are governed (and our children are taught) buy scoundrels and imbeciles.

The temperatures over the next decade ought to tell the tale. Although, if it does get colder, the alarmists have already said a decade or two of colder weather does not disprove their Human-caused Climate Change claims. So they think they are covered no matter which way the temperatures go. It must be nice to be able to have your cake and eat it, too. If you can swing it, which in this case will be easier said than done. CO2 going up while temperatures are going down is not a good look for the alarmists.

A major leak containing a register with the details of nearly two million CCP members has occurred – exposing members who are now working all over the world, while also lifting the lid on how the party operates under Xi Jinping, says Sharri Markson.

“Along with the personal identifying details of 1.95 million communist party members, mostly from Shanghai, there are also the details of 79,000 communist party branches, many of them inside companies”.
Ms Markson said the leak is a significant security breach likely to embarrass Xi Jinping.
“It is also going to embarrass some global companies who appear to have no plan in place to protect their intellectual property from theft. From economic espionage,” she said.
Ms Markson said the data was extracted from a Shanghai server by Chinese dissidents, whistleblowers, in April 2016, who have been using it for counter-intelligence purposes.

Consider the moral priorities of a therapist whose ideology is based on the concept that there are too many people.

Well, that’s fine, paranoid guy, but I’ve found that they reduce the dust flow from the cat boxes when I clean them and that means I don’t have to inhale cat box dust and get my lungs contaminated with it. Silicosis is not a joke. People contracted it during the Dust Bowl years and there is no cure for it.
But that’s one of several reasons I wear one at all, other than not having the paranoids screaming bloody murder at me when I go to the grocery store. Another good reason is that spray painting stupid things like screen frames can get paint particles into your breathing apparatus, so a mask is a good idea.

I’ve been wearing them for years while bush hogging broom straw and sawing treated lumber. Problem arises when need to wear safety glasses and a mask as the mask causes the glasses to fog. So I’d rather sniff a little dust when using the chain saw rather than be blind!

They are the ones that lied to all of us by using their computers to distort the historical temperature records to make it appear that the Earth’s temperatures are at the highest point in human history.
Nothing could be further from the truth, and the only “evidence” for this claim of unprecedented global warmth is from the distorted temperature record.
Written Regional surface temperature charts from around the world disagree with the claim that the Earth is experiencing the warmest temperatures in human history. According to written records, it is no warmer today than it was in the Early Twentieth Century, which means we are not experiencing unprecedented warming, which means CO2 is a minor player in the Earth’s atmosphere and is not the control knob for temperatures.
Lay that on your patients, Doctors. And on yourselves. CO2 is not a problem.

So imagine if one of these therapists had a patient come to them and share their dread that they would turn into a werewolf upon the next full moon….. Instead of trying to help the person get beyond their delusion, the therapist would probably just tell them to go home and have a family member chain them up during the full moon! It is quite sad that today psychiatry and psychology do more reinforcing of delusions then they do of trying to convince patients that such ideas are indeed delusions and are not true. It’s a wonder that anorexia hasn’t been removed from the list of mental illnesses….

Remember several years ago, as the Dreaded Pause lengthened to almost two decades, a number of climate scientists came down with what was known as the Climate Blues. It ended the careers of
a numberof them. The climate therapists invariably were simply enablers and offered no relief on what is the best known psychological disorder of all -depression arising from denial.
The patients rationalized that it was because all their work showed the terrible future we were headed for and no one was listening to them. Heck I was worried because most actually were listening to them! No, it was their own niggling doubts about CAGW that the mind was trying to get them to consider. Yeah, its tough after having been sold the goods in grade school followed by a dozen years in university and another dozen working on the stuff to dare to contemplate that they had wasted over half their working lives on a non issue.
Today, it’s the millions of unfortunate non scientist suffers who believe in all that stuff are ill. They are not even getting the benefit of doubts. This hysteria of a huge percentage of the population is perhaps the most terrible thing ever done to society across the world and none of the most culpable of these billionaire elite ideologues are going to pay for this crime. There is no professional help for these patients, certainly not from today’s useless deluded psychotherapists.
