Axios: Suspected Chinese Spy Helped Fundraise for Climate Radical Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA)

Christine Fang
Alleged Chinese Spy Christine Fang

Guest essay by Eric Worrall

h/t Breitbart; Axios claims a suspected Chinese spy attempted to infiltrate and influence the Obama administration, with an alleged string of sordid sexual liaisons and political activities, including prolific fundraising for Green New Deal supporter Eric Swalwell (D-CA). Note there is no suggestion the targets of the alleged espionage were aware of any nefarious activity.

Exclusive: Suspected Chinese spy targeted California politicians

Bethany Allen-EbrahimianZach Dorfman of the Aspen Institute

A suspected Chinese intelligence operative developed extensive ties with local and national politicians, including a U.S. congressman, in what U.S. officials believe was a political intelligence operation run by China’s main civilian spy agency between 2011 and 2015, Axios found in a yearlong investigation.

The woman at the center of the operation, a Chinese national named Fang Fang or Christine Fang, targeted up-and-coming local politicians in the Bay Area and across the country who had the potential to make it big on the national stage.

Among the most significant targets of Fang’s efforts was Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.).

  • Fang took part in fundraising activity for Swalwell’s 2014 re-election campaign, according to a Bay Area political operative and a current U.S. intelligence official. Swalwell’s office was directly aware of these activities on its behalf, the political operative said. That same political operative, who witnessed Fang fundraising on Swalwell’s behalf, found no evidence of illegal contributions.
  • Federal Election Commission records don’t indicate Fang herself made donations, which are prohibited from foreign nationals.
  • Fang helped place at least one intern in Swalwell’s office, according to those same two people, and interacted with Swalwell at multiple events over the course of several years.

A statement from Swalwell’s office provided to Axios said: “Rep. Swalwell, long ago, provided information about this person — whom he met more than eight years ago, and whom he hasn’t seen in nearly six years — to the FBI. To protect information that might be classified, he will not participate in your story.”

  • Fang helped with a fundraiser for Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) in 2013, according to a flyer from the event Fang shared on Facebook. She appeared in photos over multiple years with a host of California politicians, including Khanna, Swalwell, Rep. Judy Chu (D-Calif.) and then-Rep. Mike Honda (D-Calif.).

  • She positioned herself “to be the connector between the Asian American community and members of Congress,” recalled a Bay Area political operative who knew her.

While serving on the House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space and Technology, Rep Eric Swalwell pushed hard for the acceptance of radical climate positions.

One freshman on the Democratic side couldn’t resist adding his own brand of insults, aimed not at the witness but at his Republican colleagues. “I have to say that, frankly, Dr. Holdren, at this point you should be prepared to address whether the Earth is round or flat, or whether indeed gravity is happening. You just never know what could fly at you,” said Representative Eric Swalwell (D–CA), whose northern California district includes two Energy Department national laboratories. His scorn also took him far afield from the subject of the hearing.

“And I have to say that, with 97% of scientists stating that climate change is manmade, I’m encouraged to see that some of my colleagues from across the aisle have given voice to the minority 3%,” Swalwell continued, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “This is encouraging for the other minorities that my colleagues across the aisle have not helped out, including immigrants waiting for comprehensive immigration reform, women who have not received equal pay for equal work, and those who are affected by changes in the Voting Rights Act.”

Swalwell currently serves on the House Intelligence Committee. Swalwell reportedly thinks the spy scandal story is President Trump’s fault.

It is difficult to know whether the alleged Chinese spy genuinely wanted to help radical green Democrat candidates like Swalwell, or whether she just used her fundraising efforts and other activities to stroke egos and gather information. And of course, there may be active Chinese spies working to infiltrate other parties just as hard as Fang allegedly worked a string of Democrat politicians.

WHY is it okay here to claim someone who understands established mainstream science is a “climate science radical” but not okay to say people who reject (questioning is always acceptable, that’s what science itself is about) mainstream science are “climate science deniers?”

This is evidence this website is a biased, unscientific site (because bias is not scientific), oriented towards raising hostility by non-scientists towards science itself.

There was a clue she was Chinese, but highlighting that fact, or making an issue of it, just wouldn’t be politically correct, wouldit? In this way, we have made ourselves so vulnerable and easy to exploit. And still no correction to the ridiculous politically-correct black cloud that hangs over us all and stymies intelligent inquiry, to our material prejudice.

With developing nation status, no country benefits more from western nation “ambitious” climate policy than China. California aggressive climate policies is a model of how that works. They’ve created laws that make energy very expensive and difficult to produce in state resulting in 70% of California’s energy is now imported. This means that nothing but high margin products can be produced in the state. I’d be curious to see what California’s trade imbalance is with the Middle Kingdom.

Zac did lose his seat in 2019 so Boris made him a peer – do feel free to factcheck – and he has been appointed.

The move to an outright ban is reportedly being spearheaded by the Tory peer Zac Goldsmith, minster at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and also a close friend of Boris Johnson’s partner, Carrie Symonds, who last year described anyone who wanted to buy fur as “really sick”.

I take it the Groan is acceptable? More in line with your kind of fabrication.

Carrie Symonds, is in charge of the policy, which would prohibit the import of wild animal fur and mean fur coats and clothes trimmed with fur would be banned.

“I don’t have any concern about Mr. Swalwell,” Pelosi told reporters.

Pelosi also admonished House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy for calling for Swalwell to lose his seat on the House Intelligence Committee.

“I do think that it is unfortunate that Mr. McCarthy is trying to make an issue of this,” she said.

“But you know what he’s trying to do, he’s trying to deflect attention from the fact that he has QAnon in his delegation over there,” Pelosi added, referring to an outlandish conspiracy theory that has taken root among some conservatives and put Republicans on the defensive.

She was, apparently, under surveillance by the FBI for espionage. As well as being a bundler for campaign contributions, she was a honeypot. She is known to have had sexual relationships with multiple politicians. Whether she developed a sexual relationship with Swalwell is an open question. She returned, ‘fled’ may be a more appropriate word, to China in 2015.

I’ve known a pile of Chinese students. Of those in the last couple of decades, I would be surprised to find that any of them had political connections.

In my own family among those my age and a few years younger, there are several stories about political connections allowing folks to be elsewhere when trouble broke out. Those stories, however, are at least thirty years old even going back to the 1950s.

For the people I know, China is not remotely like it used to be.

2. She had a penchant for political Wang’s and influence. Odd, a person ineligible to vote (taking college courses in a second language) would prioritize time for political activism and pillow talk with rising political figures.

3. If the USA was her real love, why did she return to China?

4. As you noted, there’s no shortage of Chinese college students in the USA. Why do you suppose the FBI took an interest in this one?

With respect to Swalwell, that is not saying much.

Swalwell does not possess the awareness to know when he is passing gas.

There is a lag time of about a 15 second before Swalwell even knows if he has compromised his underpants, so how is he going to be aware if he has been compromised by a trained spy.

When has a contagious respiratory virus, with R0 over 2, been successfully stopped without a vaccine??
EVER???
This virus is the result of extensive “gain of function” experimentation by the Chinese Wuhan Institute of Virology. If you don’t already know that, then you don’t care, or are too stupid to waste time on. It was released either by accident or on purpose. But once it was out, there was no public effort to contain it. On the contrary it was allowed to circulate throughout the world before it was even acknowledged to be contagious!
There is ONE and only ONE organization responsible for this panDEMic. That is the CCP. And of course the panDEMic party made the false case that they would have done a better job of containing it. Public health is a power given to the states. Look at the blue states and tell me they are containing this virus.

The Chicoms sure have an easy job of corrupting American officials and underming the United States in the process.

I wonder if we in the West will wake up collectively quickly enough to prevent our destruction by a totalitarian nation bent on world domination?

Dictators have the advantage over Western Democracies. Democracies must reach a political consensus. Dictators don’t need consensus, just obedience.

The Dictator can focus his nation’s energy on specific issues. Western Democracies can barely focus on keeping the lights on.

The West is at a big disadvantage. The biggest disadvantage is the West doesn’t recognize the serious danger it is in from the Chicoms, and therefore will not take the measures required to stem this threat.

Xi has a goal: World domination. Wake up sleepy heads around the world, a creeping danger is near. Ignore it/downplay it, at your peril.

She started “working” Swawell when he was a city councilman. She worked him for years, and you don’t do that unless it is providing valuable intel, or else it is providing you with valuable contacts that will provide intel.
A “honey pot” spy needs to keep moving on, if there is no upside to maintaining a relationship.
She found the relationship with Swawell VERY valuable and maintained it for many years as he benefited from her “surprisingly effect” ability to raise money.
Being a newcomer and college student, it is unlikely that she had connections with multiple large donors, that were not moving money for the CCP.

Marine Le Pen (MLP) correctly pointed his “political baggage” (allowing corporate merging where French industries are sold to foreigners) during debates. That was a big talking point of MLP (“le pouvoir d’acheter” vs. “le pouvoir d’achat”).

Then the fact checkers pointed to the fact that corporate merge projects were made before he was minister. Which was literal fake news although literally true: the project were concocted before. But the project was blocked by Macron’s predecessor then authorized by Macron.

The fact checkers interfered in the campaign. The whole budget of these media sources should have been counted in his campaign, which would have been declared over budget which is criminal. Which wouldn’t have changed much in the end, but still.

The statement by Rep. Seal well, “97% of scientists stating that climate change is manmade,” is NOT “radical,” it’s mainstream science.
The fact is 97% of qualified climate scientists DO agree global warming, to the extent it rises above natural climate change and damages the environment, IS man-made.

“Radical” is a dog whistle word to alert unthinking conservatives as to whom to hate, dox, fear, and quit reasoning about.

define “qualified climate scientist”.

(use your own words (and thoughts as they have already been formed); do not look it up somewhere else … do you have enuf background to do this without struggling?)

define “global warming” (again use your own words).

Then, please, recognize that your second paragraph is meaningless. When you include the qualifier ” … to the extent it rises above natural climate change …” you have eliminated anything but ‘man-made’. To re-phrase what you have said: Almost everyone agrees that the change that is not natural is man-made (isn’t that a lot simpler?). I would think that 100% of anybody would agree with that (of course it could be the aliens, so mebee less than 100% by a smidge.)

recognize that it appears that you are implying that 97% of scientists think that global

Rep. *Swalwell*

Re: “Swallwell lied for four years about Trump and Russia…”
What were his lies re: Trump’s Russiagate? Anyone familiar w that investigation knows it was as thorough as it could be despite the President blocking significant witness testimony, there was significant wrongdoing.

And despite Trump’s (14,287th? Or was the count over 27k by then??) lie he’s “EXONERATED,” and”NO COLLUSION,” Mueller pointedly stated his report did *not* exonerate Trump or his campaign of wrongdoing.

In Mueller’s Congressional testimony:
“The Democrat House judiciary committee chairman Jerold Nadler opened questioning on Wednesday by asking Mr Mueller whether Donald Trump had been accurate to claim he was “exonerated” by the special counsel report, to which Mr Muller replied with an emphatic “No”.”

— “Trump was not exonerated by my report, Robert Mueller tells Congress”
25 July 2019 – BBC News

So, in what mythology did Swalwell lie about Trump and his invited Russian election interference? (Trump is on camera doing so. Or did you miss that telltale signal?)

They relied completely on a bogus dossier provided by an ex-spy, who got the information from a Russian source of disinformation.
They lied to a FISA court and bugged a campaign and ran sources. And found nothing. And persecuted members of a campaign for winning, when the Washington Establishment did not want them to win.
A prosecutor isn’t in the business of exonerating. That is why they always say “not exonerated”, if they cannot identify a crime that they have been actively “prosecuting” on the taxpayers dime for YEARS!!!!
There was no collusion, but some people put so much personal stock in the outcome, that they cannot internalize the fact that they were wrong. They even have a name for this disorder: TDS.
Luckily your chance to see someone prosecuted successfully is coming to a Grand Jury soon. I hope your desire for Justice is as strong now as it was 4 years ago.
