Time: The US Must Regain Global Climate Trust by Offering “Tangible Support”

Guest essay by Eric Worrall

Will the world give the USA a chance to regain respect as a global climate leader? According to time, it depends on John Kerry’s diplomacy and how much “tangible support” the USA can offer.

Joe Biden Says the U.S. Will Lead on Climate. But First He Has to Regain World Leaders’ Trust

BY JUSTIN WORLAND  NOVEMBER 24, 2020 8:23 PM EST

Joe Biden named former Secretary of State John Kerry to a new top position on global climate policy, a public step toward what the President-elect has promised will be a renaissance in American leadership on the issue.

Activists who hope climate change will play a central role in the new administration cheered the news, but both Kerry and Biden have their work cut out for them. After four years under Donald Trump, the Biden Administration inherits a badly bruised international reputation. Trump repeatedly denied the science of climate change, rolled back dozens of environmental and emissions-reduction regulations, and earned the derision of nearly 200 nations who co-signed the Paris Agreement on climate change when he announced the United States’s withdrawal from the pact six months after taking office.

To turn the page on the Trump era and re-establish the U.S. as a global leader on climate, Biden and Kerry must rapidly accelerate emissions-reduction policies domestically and offer tangible support to partner nations that are making progress abroad. Crucially, allies say, the U.S. will need to reengage the world with a recognition that Washington can no longer unilaterally dictate the terms of engagement. “We have to reenter this field, when we join our allies, with a great sense of humility,” says Gina McCarthy, the former Environmental Protection Agency head who is now the president of the Natural Resources Defense Council. “We have a great deal of trust that we have to rebuild across the world.”

Ah, humility. Let the feeding frenzy begin. I mean it is not like anyone in the USA needs the tax money Kerry and Biden apparently plan to ship to various United Nations climate initiatives, to make amends for Trump turning off the money tap.

Kerry is a certifiable nutjob on climate.
But the danger extends beyond one functionary.
Recent articles indicate that if the Dems take the White House, reprisals will come down on all Trump supporters.
As with the Soviet Union in the 1930s.
Opposition to authoritarian movement is not allowed.
It is eliminated.

Yes, the problem with any kind of authoritarianism is that once the propaganda fails, all that’s left to maintain power is heavy handed oppression. Nothing works better at quieting the opposition if to oppose means to risk disappearing. We’ve already seen this in the data space …

Well, it’s not as though US military is loyal to govt that isn’t loyal to US constitution.
Soviets were also not as armed as US citizens {no country is, though Swiss are required to have guns {so they have a higher percent of public- but I mean in sheer numbers}.

Biden is poor leader, all he can do add to corruption- and depending how count it, US could said to have a lot corruption in various aspects. And doubt few “respectable” nations have something as bad as our FBI. And US open borders is probably worst in world and could seem as corruption. Or Mexico said to be bad in terms corruption, and we open borders to it. And wide open door to any drug shipment on the planet- not mention a way for terrorists to get into US.
Or if worried about corruption, you are kind of late to that issue.
I think I might like Biden, better than Obama. And what was good about Obama is he destroyed the Dem party- in recent history Dems were in firm in control of US.
Keep in mind, no one wanted Biden, and if he won the election it would be because a lot people didn’t want Trump. I can understand how Trump the destructor could be scary.
Freedom is quite scary for the many.
Trump should go on a long and deserved vacation.
And having the dems a lot whine about it.
Problem is, too much relaxation could be bad for Trump’s health.
Maybe do Trump rallies in Australia.

I thought US voters would elect Trump in a landside, and they did.
BUT the Deep State is a thing.
The FBI violated US constitution- thereby betrayed the American public. And it seems US intel are bunch globalists, thereby have been undermining the American public for decades- or are bunch traitors to US constitution. We were long warned about the military industrial complex. Plus got the corporate owned media which one could separate from corporate internet media, but it’s basically the same thing, other then they have special legal protection making them more unaccountable to American public.
BUT all above is not as bad as the teacher unions, who are obviously currently destroying the lives of American children, but have also doing this less obviously, for decades.

There are thousands of affidavits of election fraud:
* observers being illegally kicked out or prevented from doing their job. Windows were covered with poster board. Observers were placed in corrals 100ft away from the vote counting
* Eyewitnesses under oath report ballots run through multiple times, boxes of pristine ballots, all Biden votes, with identical markings, unmarked as to their source being brought to the counting tables. In PA for example, in one case there were 600,000 ballots with only 3220 trump votes. That’s 1/2%. I would bet that Trump got more than 1/2% in Harlem, NYC, but not Philadelphia?
– More mail-in ballots were returned than were sent out. Mail in ballots were returned before they were sent. 20K dead people voted.

Biden’s cheat will be overturned shortly, likely by the Supreme Court.

The US must regain global climate trust by offering “tangible evidence” for [catastrophic] [anthropogenic] climate cooling… warming… change, undeniable, unfalsifiable. Otherwise, it is merely a pretense to force redistributive and retributive change in pursuit of consolidating capital and control under diverse single/central/minority schemes.

Why even try to make more money if the government is just going to take it away with higher taxes and higher energy costs? Have none of these Washington insider-Democrats had even a minimal conversations with Democrats in California? Even Newsome has had to admit that wind and solar are not workable solutions. Why hasn’t Kerry figured that out from California’s experience? There are none so blind as those who will not see.

Every time I read something like this from the leftist mainstream media, I keep thinking that they should be required to lead by example for the reduction of CO2 emissions. That would include Time, the NYT, CNN, MSNBC, the LA Times, all of them.

What I have in mind is a game plan that involves selectively removing the biggest climate alarmist cheer leaders from the grid. These MSM climate whiners would have 12 months (okay 18 months) to switch the buildings they occupy to renewables as their primary (only?) energy source before being disconnected from the grid. If they believe the climate scare narrative and keep pushing it, they should lead the way in addressing it themselves.

The NYT has its own building in New York, does it not? Doesn’t CNN in Atlanta own and occupy its own building? This can be done folks. It would be interesting watching and waiting to see if they actually install solar panels on their roofs for their CO2-free electricity. If they object to the idea, they can install their own fossil fueled electric generators on their roofs. How they would get the generator up there would be their problem, but the hypocrisy would be hilarious.

I realize there is zero chance of this happening, but it is fun thinking about it every time one of them starts whining again about climate change. Taking bad tasting medicine isn’t always such a good idea when you have to take it yourself.

Reply to  CD in Wisconsin

+1. It would be counterproductive for them to apply their logic to their own situation and lead by example. Why? It would not and cannot work according to their reasoning. Green energy is not workable and never will be the energy source these lunatics suggest. Pure fantasy to suggest otherwise. Where has critical thinking gone?

Biden hasn’t had an original idea in his 47 years at tax payer expense. Now he is having the tax payers hire similarly dufus characters. This won’t end well.
John Kerry was involved in the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio where the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was drafted.
He didn’t understand Earth dynamics (including climate) then, and hasn’t learned anything during the 29 years since.

Firstly the various lawsuits about observers not being allowed in have been thrown out and the vote in Pennsylvania has been certified. Secondly even if the claims are true how do you know which votes to recount and there is again no evidence of fraud and so no reason to throw out votes or get them recounted. Throwing out millions of votes just because an unkown number of them might be fake (and Trump’s lawyers have not claimed any fraud in court) is too extreme an remedy and so will not be allowed.

Plenty more than what I just posted is in play. As badly as you seem to want it, this election is not over by any means. The decision to allow mail in ballots to be counted after election day was allowed based on a ruling by the PA Supreme Court, when the Constitution clearly says that such decisions are only to be made by a States Legislature. In the meantime PA authorities have been busy destroying evidence of the fraud as fast as they can and it now impossible to reconstruct so that illegal votes can be separated from legal votes. So PA’s electors are most likely end up being appointed by the State legislature which controlled by Republicans.

I could go on to explain the problems the cheaters are facing in Michigan and Georgia, but really the bottom line is, it isn’t over until it’s over no matter what the liars in the MSM are saying.

In PA the claim that only the legislature and not the state supreme court can regulate election rules most certainly has been filed and the state supreme court, the very same court which overstepped it bounds by regulating elections, shot it down so it’s on it’s way to Federal court. Then there is this filing:https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2020/11/25/pennsylvania-judge-issues-injunction-against-certification-of-election-results/

Your definition of government apparently is legislation. The Founding Fathers did not want easy legislation. They designed a system that would make it difficult for new laws to be passed or changed without overwhelming support. Gridlock is their system working. And if the people don’t like the gridlock of the first two years, they can make changes to a number of Congressional seats in 2022.

The reality is that, based on the paleoclimate record and the work done with models, one can conclude that the climate change that we have been experiencing is caused by the sun and the oceans over which mankind has no control. Despite the hype, there is no real evidence that CO2 has any effect on climate and there is plenty of scientific rationale to support the conclusion that the climate sensitivity of CO2 is zero. If CO2 really did affect climate then one would expect the the increase in CO2 over the past 30 years would have caused at least a measurable increase in the dry lapse rate in the troposphere but that has not happened. It is all a matter of science. Mankind just does not have the power to stop Mother Nature from slowly changing the climate as has been happening for eons. But even if we could somehow stop the Earth’s climate from changing, extreme weather events and sea level rise would continue unabated because they are part of the current climate. Mankind does not even know what the optimum climate is let alone how to achieve it To better protect ourselves from the ravages of extreme weather events, the best we can do is to improve the global economy as mush as possible. Wasting time and money pursuing climate control over which mankind just does not have the power is very counter productive. There are many good reasons to be conserving on the use of fossil fuels but climate change is not one of them. These guys have got to be crazy to waste the taxpayer’s money on this.

The physics is quite clear: more CO2 must raise global temperatures.

The sun has been in a period of lower activity for some while.

The measurements of the troposphere to me seem so dependent on adjustment and proxy that they can mean whatever you like.

There is clearly and evidentially climate change on top of historical/natural drivers, caused by the new and additional factor of human CO2

Explain & prove the importance of “clearly and evidentially” .

You have been asked many, many times to present hard, empirical evidence that atmospheric CO2 controls temperature, and not vice versa. Where is it? Computer modelling is not evidence.

Explain & prove “must raise global temperatures.”

“The physics is quite clear: more CO2 must raise global temperatures.”

Then explain the sharp decrease of global temperatures during the 1950’s – 1970’s and consensus-driven prognostications of an impending ice age while atmospheric CO2 were increasing at, what you would call a catastrophic rate?

Griff’s little MAKE-BELIEVE nonsense , as always

You have ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE for that mantra regurgitation of scientifically unsupportable NONSENSE

And you have shown many times that you haven’t got a clue about physics or any other facet os real science.

Stop your idiotic trolling for attention. !

“The sun has been in a period of lower activity for some while.”

Is that based on IGNORANCE , yet again??? or just a LIE. !

30 year trailing average TSI looks like this……. ( 30 years is “climate” 😉 )

Solar energy is still as high as it has been since the LIA.

Given Bidens age and health issues, he will not be able to conclude his term as President.

Then Kamala Harris will take over.

But what happens if he dies before inauguration ?

What does the Constitution say ?

If he dies after the Electoral College votes for him, then Komrade Harris becomes President-Elect.

If he dies before the EC votes, then likely the bound electors would vote for Harris. That could be challenged when the EC vote is counted, but since the House is controlled by the Dems, the challenge would be voted down.

Pray for Dementia Joe! He must live for fifty more months.

We’ve spent most of a year living just a bit better than the Klimat Kartel would like us to, just how much money do they think the US can afford? It’s not like Kerry is an amazing negotiator, he married his money, twice.

On the one hand we have “election fraud” whackos, and on the other we have “climate change” whackos. Emotionalism is running rampant.

Griff strikes again. The lack of understanding of any physics is shown again. He does have one thing right that certain adjustments and proxies can mean anything. Just look at the 35 years of climate models that prove nothing except propaganda belief in the climate CO2 religion. Given the fact that the actual recorded temps (Just ask the liar Mr. Mann) for the last 100 years + have been erased and adjusted to prove the point of Global Warming/ Climate Change. Reality has no place in that religion. Who needs evidence. Must destroy the west for China and the UN. They want all our wealth for themselves.

If the EIA (Energy Information Agency) is correct, the US CO2 emissions are at 1980 levels. So, F. O.

Time – –
(a) I think there is a magazine with that name; or
(b) it might be a continuum that is measured in terms of events which succeed one another from past through present to future; or
(c) a word that when concatenated with another helps you function in the real world; such as “Beng, it is past your bedtime.”

November 26, 2020 8:08 am

Hmmmm, Time magazine? . . . hey, isn’t that the rag that some time ago appointed a child, named Greta Thunderberg or something like that, as a “Person of the Year” for doing something that was reportedly important?

I’m guessing that John Kerry is now in the lead be Time’s next “Person of the Year”, for whatever that’s worth, as they try to stay relevant to the climate crisis™ meme, despite dwindling subscriptions.

Interesting that Gina McCarthy is mentioned.
Some will recall that this former EPA head tried to avoid FOIA requests by adopting her dog’s name in official emails.

Actually, this could really blow up in the Dems faces from the combination of short lived stimulus boom and bust, falling dollar, rising import prices all before the mid term elections. They would be in continuous stimulus mode while things start to fall apart for investment and confidence. Some well placed tone deafness by Kerry and many others in that toxic environment could backfire much more than simply going back into silent mode.

So, of course, per bureaucratic rules of survival, monumental political failures need to be recycled into other positions of power so they can continue to display their ineptitude at public expense.

All hail our new Climate czar appointee!

And, BTW, terrific choice, Joe . . . I mean with Kerry’s extensive experience and scientific knowledge about climate, and all that stuff.

From the article: “Activists who hope climate change will play a central role in the new administration cheered the news, but both Kerry and Biden have their work cut out for them. After four years under Donald Trump, the Biden Administration inherits a badly bruised international reputation.”

Says who? The Left? Who cares what the Left says, other than other leftists?

The Left always presumes to speak for everyone, even other nations. It stems from them being so arrogant.

From the article: “To turn the page on the Trump era and re-establish the U.S. as a global leader on climate, Biden and Kerry must ”

Slow down a little bit. I heard Trump say tonight they have the evidence to prove massive voter fraud. So the page may not be turning.

I’m keeping the popcorn handy.

There have been a lot of “fair-weather friends” who have exposed themselves over the past few weeks. Wouldn’t that be embarrassing for them if Trump stays around as president for four more years.

I wouldn’t be able to stop laughing.
