Netflix faked ‘Our Planet’ walrus deaths in order to blame them on climate change – polar bears actually were the cause of walrus falling to their deaths from a Siberian cliff, independent video evidence from Russia shows.

London, 19 November: In a GWPF video released today, Dr. Susan Crockford, a Canadian wildlife expert, provides new evidence that the 2019 Netflix documentary film series, ‘Our Planet’, withheld facts behind the controversial walrus story it promoted as evidence of climate change.
If there was ever any doubt that polar bears, not climate change, were the cause of walrus falling to their deaths from a rocky cliff in Siberia a few years ago, new evidence presented here seals the deal: a Russian photographer has released independent video of the event that clearly shows polar bears driving walrus over the cliff to their deaths.
In 2019, a sequence in the Netflix documentary ‘Our Planet’ showed a highly disturbing piece of footage of several walrus bouncing off sharp rocks as they fell from a high cliff to their deaths. It transpired this event happened in late September 2017 at a well-known walrus haulout at Cape Schmidt on the Chukchi Sea.
Narrator Sir David Attenborough blamed the tragedy on climate change, insisting that lack of summer sea ice due to climate change was to blame for the walrus falling to their deaths without provocation. A few months later, however, using some of the same walrus footage, Attenborough’s BBC series called ‘Seven Worlds, One Planet’ featured a number of polar bears driving walrus off the very same cliff. It was damning evidence that the ‘Our Planet’ account of walrus deaths had been a false narrative constructed to elicit an emotional response from the public.
New independent video footage of the same event shot by Russian photographer Yevgeny Basov corroborates the BBC evidence that polar bears drove the walrus over the cliff. Basov is a friend of Netflix ‘science advisor’ Anatoly Kochnev and was apparently invited to observe the commercial filming.
Like the original Netflix footage, this scene is not for the faint of heart. It captures a raw but natural encounter between predator and prey. Walrus hauling out on land during the summer are natural events that happen even when sea ice is available. Polar bears are known to stalk such herds until they stampede, leaving the weak or unwary crushed in their wake. Cliffs are not essential to this polar bear hunting strategy but are especially efficient.
This brutal film footage of nature in action is not evidence of climate change or species on the brink of extinction. It does prove, however, that the walrus narrative promoted by Sir David Attenborough in the Netflix documentary ‘Our Planet’ is a manipulative sham with no resemblance to reality.

Although the location is not specified in the original Russian video, by Russian photographer Yevgeny Basov, entitled simply ‘Walruses and polar bears of Chukotka’ (posted 17 May 2020, see below), it is clear that the location shown early in the film footage (up to the 4:00 mark) is of the cliff and walrus haulout at Cape Schmidt, which the author described in a photo essay published in November 2017 here.

After all, this event does shift the spotlight away from all those “Gretas”, one of which was Time magazine’s Person of the Year, if only for a little time. 😉
I seem to recall this subject and event was already very thoroughly covered here at WUWT about a year ago or a little less, coming to the same conclusions. Seem to remember it coming up not too long after the starving polar bear scam. Am I mistaken?

Yes, I’m sure this walrus meme was trashed at the time. It certainly was when Attenborough pushed it on his awful BBC climate change programme. I can’t bring myself to waste money on Attenborough’s latest book, but I’ve heard he repeats this nonsense in it – can anyone who’s seen the book confirm this?

Attenborough has become a ratbag. In his dotage he is all too keen to be the sandwich-board doomsday man, as if he’s some sort of wise geophysicist of which he has no qualifications. I suspect he never reads anything which would not support his ratbaggery. Very keen to be seen, with hands behind the back, having little jokes with the Royal Family. Rasputin Rabbitborough needs a good boot up his backside.
Will we see him with enough form to apologise for helping mislead the feeble-minded? Not likely.

When hauled out on land they are more vulnerable, including to so called ‘stampedes’.

These haul-outs are normal, documented since before the 1800s.
They prefer land, and it’s more to do with the seasonal separation of the males and females/young.
THE FACTS are that Walrus are a conservation SUCCESS story and believed to be at THE MAXIMUM NUMBERS that their main food source clam-beds can support, since driven to extremely low numbers by hunting last century.

Beside driving large animals off cliffs to get food was done by Native Americans against buffalo for generations. They may have learned that technique from the polar bears.

Nonsense. Walrus have always hauled out on land. Places like Moffen Island off Svalbard were used as haul-outs in the 1600’s and still are.
And where did the walrus population on Sable Island haul out before being hunted to extinction? There is no sea-ice anywhere near.
As a matter of fact of the many hundred hauled-out walrus I’ve personally seen around Svalbard, two (2) were on sea-ice, the rest on land, though there was in most cases ice available nearby. So at least the Svalbard population seems to strongly prefer land.

This claim was refuted in the article, which once again, you never bothered to read.
I presume Netfix and the BBC will publish a full correction supported by the video, to avoid the risk of the public being mis-lead, and also to avoid the possibility of Attenborough being accused of false reporting in all other programmes that he makes.
The impeachment of Netflix was complete with the association of the activist Oboola-zeebub and Chewbarakka.
These kinds of lies about Human-caused Climate Change fool politicians into spending taxpayers money on fixing these non-existent climate change problems.
It seems to me that people who perpetrate Human-caused Climate Change lies, which cost people their money, should be liable for these costs.
Somebody ought to sue Attenborough and Netflix for misleading the public and costing them money, in the form of extra taxes, as a result.
All Human-caused Climate Change Liars should be subject to lawsuits for defrauding the public.

Cancelled my Netflix last month due to their dying devotion to social justice BS.
It’s hard to find anything in media today that isn’t infected w/the cultural marxism disease.
That’s just what happens when you have a polar bear over-population.
Surely it’s time to cull these vicious polar bears and protect the walrus and their babies?
I don’t understand why anyone is even surprised by this, it happens all the time with any nature documentary and has for far too long. The story is the exact same and never wavers, whatever production is behind it, the message is the same: humans are to blame. Shame and fear over and over and over again.
If Attenborough redid some of the old Omaha vids at summer watering holes on an African savannah, it wouldn’t be because it’s summer, it would be because of the dreaded “climate change” has put pressure upon the residents of the watering hole and induced this never before seen conflict between hunter and prey. Utter rubbish, it’s summer.
But now the dreaded humans are horrible creatures that created climate change and induced these walrus’s to off themselves because of the coming doom of rising sea levels and no Arctic ice. They didn’t contemplate and commit suicide based up on a very human narrative of how things are “supposed to be”, they reacted to the pressures of a massive predator during a summer haul out. Smart predator to take advantage of the cliff and reduce the energy load of hunting for a meal. Instead of praising that aspect of the Polar Bear’s acute hunting skills, we get rubbish of how humans are destroying this poor lesser organism’s home with our greed to simply survive.
Quite frankly, I’m sick of the narrative. Humans are NATURAL ANIMALS OF THE EARTH. We are self aware and because we have defined what that means, we judge other organisms which are and are not. It’s rather arrogant if you look at it that way. We defined shame and we’ve used it for thousands of years in order to illicit behavior within our social groups and give rise to the belief that we are not natural, we are above the “natural order of things” and therefore can control it with our will. What amazing arrogance we have.
