Joe Biden Advisor Recommends 4-6 Week National Covid-19 Lockdown

Guest essay by Eric Worrall

Biden advisor Dr. Michael Osterholm wants a US nationwide lockdown of 4-6 weeks, to achieve the same level of control over Covid-19 as Australia and New Zealand achieved. But this faith in lockdowns ignores a few natural advantages which helped Australia and New Zealand gain control of the virus.

Joe Biden Coronavirus Adviser Urges National Lockdown for ‘4 to 6 Weeks’

KYLE OLSON
11 Nov 2020

An adviser to Joe Biden on coronavirus has floated the idea of a nationwide lockdown for “four to six weeks.”

Dr. Michael Osterholm was appointed to Biden’s 12-person Covid advisory board on Monday.

On Wednesday, he appeared on CNBC and attempted to rationalize a national lockdown order.

“We could pay for a package right now to cover all of the wages, lost wages for individual workers, for losses to small companies, to medium-sized companies or city, state, county governments. We could do all of that,” he said.

“If we did that, then we could lock down for four-to-six weeks.”

Osterholm claimed that would help get the virus under control, “like they did in New Zealand and Australia.”

The problem with this idea is it implies the USA’s Covid rate is America’s fault; it ignores a few natural advantages which worked very strongly in Australia and New Zealand’s favour.

The biggest advantage we had is when Covid first struck, it was the middle of our Summer. Covid-19 is a winter disease, it thrives best in cold dry conditions. Even a small increase in heat and humidity severely retards the transmission of Covid.

Australian Summers are extremely hot and, especially in the tropical North, are also very humid.

The second advantage Australia and New Zealand enjoyed is low population density. We got off very lightly in most of Australia. Apart from Victoria, with its relatively high population density and cold climate, and a premier whose apparent mismanagement of the outbreak has left a lot of questions, the risk throughout most of Australia and New Zealand has been low since the start of the pandemic, even before the lockdowns.

The third advantage is our politicians didn’t abuse the lockdowns, at least not to the extent some politicians in the USA apparently did. From what I can see some politicians in the USA shattered social trust by only applying lockdown rules to their political opponents, giving their own supporters free license to breach the rules, while imposing dire sanctions against their political opponents and persecuting religious groups. There was some comparable political misbehaviour in Australia in the early stages of the lockdowns, but it attracted so much negative attention our politicians mostly started behaving themselves, before the idea of a lockdown in Australia was completed discredited.

Would a lockdown imposed right now work in the USA? Possibly – but the economic cost would be horrendous, because infection is widespread, because the timing is bad, and because political misbehaviour has created a lot of hostility towards the idea of a lockdown. Fall to winter is likely the worst possible time to attempt to contain Covid-19 with a lockdown, because this is the time the virus is at its most infectious.

I think the USA’s best chance for immediate relief is something like the Pfizer vaccine, which was miraculously announced just after the Presidential election.

Protect the aged and the infirm.
———————
“In 2019, about 18.55 percent of the U.S. population fell into the 0-14 year category, 65.24 percent into the 15-64 age group and 16.21 percent of the population were over 65 years of age.” thats over 53 million over 65s

the aged and infirm require medcal staff, helpers etc. these will be young and probably fit people. these will have children they will all have friends, thre friends will have friends.

To isolate the aged and infirm you will need a dedicated group of isolated (fully) people possibly different for each “bubble”. Food will have to be delivered. no visiting family.

Just how many people will have to be isolating to service the vulnerable?

You also seem to be ignoring LONG covid

I am seventy and need no assistance. My 73 year old brother and his wife just contracted and survived COVID last month. We cannot run and hide from COVID. Death is the natural conclusion to life and locking down is not living.

The worriers among us have no more understanding of this disease, they are simply afraid of their shadow. Yes people are going to die with COVID just as people with co-morbidities die from a bad cold and the flue. But this much we know. Otherwise healthy people are not dropping dead in the streets from the Corona.

News flash, there are millions of us otherwise healthy old people who want to get this stupid cousin of the the common cold and get over it. Politicians don’t have the right to take that option away from me. And if you don’t like my not wearing a mask on the walking path stay off the path.

Well Put!! Bill. The classic method to control a pandemic is not to lockdown the healthy, but to lockdown the people who have the plague. It worked during the Black Death. When polio hit the affected families were required(or, in most places, asked nicely) to stay at home as much as possible and limit outside contacts. That carried the day until (3-5 years) effective vaccines were developed.

Philo, it seems to me that it was an experiment to see how easily they (those in power) could get people to comply with draconian measures “for their own good”. Now that they’ve seen how easy it is, expect more of it.

Philo,
Exactly right. There’s a very famous (in Derbyshire at least) village which imposed self isolation when the plague arrived from London, carried by fleas in a bolt of cloth. 260 out of a population of 350 died, but the plague was contained to Eyam and did not spread.

Thank you, Bill. As a 66-year old myself, I have taken the same attitude as you. The reason this coronavirus nonsense has taken hold is because of the snowflake, apocalyptic mentality that has been generated by the political Left as a prelude to conditioning citizens to the idea that we must do something about climate change, and the economic hardships being created are going to be just like (if not worse) the ones being created now.

Thank you Philo, I too have thought of how Polio was responded to; in the correct way. It is a) practicably impossible and b) logically impossible, to quarantine an entire population. That is called 24 hour curfew, it’s what desperate governments do.

If Biden does actually gain the presidency, the first thing he will do is order a national quarantine. You can hear the building propaganda justification with the US media now talking of the terrible increase in “cases”. A good excuse to keep people under control, init

Just how many people will have to be isolating to service the vulnerable?

Ipso facto an exponentially *smaller* number than isolating the entire country as Dr. Osterholm is proposing.

And this with the added result of NOT destroying the last vestiges of a decent economic comeback before progressives once again close their long, bony fingers around the neck of the American economic machine.

ghalfrunt,

When I say “aged,” I mean age 70+ and still in good health. Normal precautions apply for those folks. Masks, hand washing, social distance, etc.

The “infirm” – regardless of age – are typically in assisted living situations. The state of Florida has already set the COV-19 gold standard for nursing home care. No new procedures need to be implemented. I know this because I have two age 90+ aunts in Florida nursing homes.

Bottom Line – according to CDC numbers, the fatality risk from COV-19 for healthy people under age 50 is essentially zero. The CV-19 fatality rate for ALL people age 50-69 is 0.5% (5 per 1,000 confirmed infections). That is roughly the same rate they have for influenza.

I am in the high risk age 70+ group, but I still enjoy excellent health. The idea that the USA should destroy its entire economy to “protect” me from COV-19 is total insanity!

One final note – the CDC does not calculate COV-19 deaths the same way it calculates influenza deaths. If they did, we would have 200,000 influenza deaths – EVERY year!

The economic cost of protecting these people would be a fraction of the cost of a nationwide lockdown. Mobilize and do it. Perhaps political laziness is the problem or the purpose is to destroy the american economy.

So, Gfulrunt makes the argument that it is not feasible to protect the elderly. “Just how many people will have to be isolating to service the vulnerable?”

But, Gfulrunt would have us run a full lockdown, knowing the same insurmountable issues would need to addressed in a full lockdown.

Gfulrunt seems to be ignoring it’s own argument and acknowledging it’s hypocrisy.

My father was working for the American embassy in Afganistan in his 70s and at one point had to jump into and out of a hovering helicopter due to security concerns. He lived alone until this year in the mountains in Tennessee and died in an accident when he slipped and hit his head during a checkup at a hospital.

Trump is 74 and is President of the United States. Biden is 77 and likely going to be President of the United States until he is 81. My attorney who looked into the case of my father’s death is 75.

This ridiculous image of people over 65 being incapable or sickly isn’t remotely accurate. It is true for some, but those are the few that need isolation. The best judge of the acceptable risk of a person is that person.

LAWYERS FROM AUSTRALIA:
From expert and other evidence that is publicly available in Australia and worldwide, there appears to be strong evidence that there can no longer be a reliance on the premise that the Covid19 pandemic exists. Further, it appears evident that the state and federal governments have:
1.failed to properly inform Victorians and Australians of sufficient relevant and independent evidence of a pandemic to justify the declarations of state of emergency and state of disaster; and
2.failed to properly inform Victorians and Australians, (or take into account in their decision making relevant and independent evidence), of Covid19 being confirmed as an isolated virus or how effective the testing for it actually is; and
3.failed to properly inform Victorians and Australians of, or take into account in their decision making, the evidence of effective treatment for Covid19 such as Invermectin and Hydroxychloroquine and any good reasons why such medications were banned all of a sudden. This is especially contradictory, since Hydroxychloroquine has been used for decades safely all around the world both as an oral vaccine and treatment to many diseases including Lupus and Malaria and doctors and evidence worldwide reveals reports of up to 100% cure rate for Covid19 when treated early; and
4.failed to properly inform Victorians and Australians of, or take into account in their decision making relevant and independent evidence of the serious side effects of vaccines in general including death, and the need for years of successful research before releasing medications in general; and
5.failed to properly inform Victorians and Australians of, or take into account in their decision making, financial or vested interests (of ministers, health officials and public services and subordinate bodies appointed by them), in vaccine production, and the legal protection granted to the vaccine companies in the event of injury or death from citizens taking vaccines; and
6.failed to properly inform Victorians and Australians through health policy, on how we are best to increase our health and immune systems to resist infections; and
7.failed to properly inform Victorians and Australians that Covid19 deaths reported are inaccurate in numbers and specific not random, and include comorbidity deaths. Focus has been instead shifted to fear of the deadliness of the disease, and away from the facts that most mortality affected the elderly or immune-compromised who are already susceptible due to preexisting conditions or comorbidity; and
8.failed to properly inform Victorians and Australians of, or take into account in their decision making, the available relevant and independent medicine and science about viruses, exomes and the body’s natural defence systems and instead relied on a select few researchers many of which themselves have vested financial or other interests in foreign, global and transnational companies which are of or related to foreign pharmaceutical and vaccine corporations; and
9.failed to properly inform Victorians and Australians of, or take into account in their decision making, the true nature of the covid19 tests being used, that they are not reliable, focusing instead on numbers of “positive cases” including false positives and undiagnosed positives when the tests are deemed by the governments own TGA standards not reliable and there has to date not been any credible isolation of Covid19 in any case; and
10.failed to properly inform Victorians and Australians of, or take into account in their decision making, the fact that the covid19 tests being used were manufactured and distributed to countries around the world (with Australian purchasing great quantities) since at least 2017 over 3 years before the surprise outbreak of Covid19 in late 2019, and that patents specifically for the Covid19 test kits were already applied for in 2015 some 5 years ago which gives rise to suspicions of a planned pandemic; and
11.failed to properly inform Victorians and Australians about, or take into account in their decision making, the ramifications of providing financial incentive to clinicians and hospitals whenever they register a death under Covid19; and
12.failed to properly inform Victorians and Australians about, or take into account in their decision making, the ramifications of financial incentives and loans the Federal Government receives from the IMF and WHO and other foreign bodies or corporations, in exchange for following the directions on declaring a pandemic and how to manage it and what restrictions to place on business and freedom of movement
from these global bodies.

Further, most of the mainstream media on television and print, appears to have been influenced by state and federal governments in so far as such media has avoided challenging the government narrative about Covid19, and has therefore also failed to properly inform Victorians and Australians who are entitled to see all relevant unbiased evidence without censorship. In addition, much of the mainstream media has been disparaging of any person questioning the government narrative and science and legalities relied on, even when they are questioned by experienced doctors and lawyers. Many of us wonder if the government has itself
withheld relevant information and facts from the media, or whether the media are in fact complicit with the government in recklessly or intentionally failing to report relevant facts to the public, in an unbiased true journalistic basis.

Simple answer it’s an emergency power that remains the health ministers decision. If you actually bothered to read both the results of challenges to the High Courts of various states and the to the Australian Supreme court you would understand all 12 points fail under existing rulings.

Why simple reason they are not required to inform the public of anything at all, in some case that could or would lead to panic and the emergency powers act clearly states that. Only parliament has to be informed.

The only ground left open currently that you can contest is the use of the law is not proportional to the risk and even that is not guaranteed that is a view some State High Court judges have taken. However there is a counter argument to that which goes you have elections and a functioning democracy so it is such a big issue take it to an election there is no need for the courts to get involved in emergency powers acts and weaken what may be required laws for future situations. That argument may well win because you are asking the courts to try and limit the powers of parliament.

Correct Steve Z. More lockdowns are another Biden scam. The sequence of scams – CAGW/green energy, Covid-19 lockdown, BLM/Antifa planned paid protests and now the massive USA voter fraud all point in the same direction – the use of Leninist/Goebbels/Alinsky propaganda tactics to deceive the public.

A rational examination of the CAGW scam concludes that no rational person could be this stupid for this long – the CAGW leadership know it’s a scam. I suspect the same is true for the Covid-19 lockdown, where it was obvious by March2020 that the full lockdown was not justified. The USA election results are also not credible – Biden could not get a dozen people to show up for his public events and his campaign was incredibly weak – the vote numbers suggest massive injection of fraudulent ballots.

The true death count from Covid-19 in the USA was much less than the alleged 244,000, probably much less than 50,000 – the alleged 244,000 deaths is false nonsense – it includes everyone who died while Covid-19 positive – including car crashes, heart attacks, cancers, etc. In Alberta and BC, 2-3 times as many people died from opioid OD’s as from Covid-19 – that does not include all the other deaths caused, not by Covid-19, but by the lockdown.

I am getting old and have personal interest in the welfare of the elderly. I just do not ask that the young and the poor be destroyed – needlessly thrown under the bus – to protect me. The lockdown killed more than it saved, and many of those were young. The years-of-life-lost due to the lockdown is huge – the lockdown killed off many young people and did little to save the elderly, many of whom were already in the last months of their life. The lockdown also ensured that they died alone, distanced from family and friends. Horrible!

Told you so, ~8 months ago. I called it correctly on 21March2020* – NO LOCKDOWN! Covid-19 was a relatively mild flu except for the very elderly and infirm. Covid-19 is less dangerous to the general public than flu’s of recent decades that nobody remembers – the lockdown was a huge over-reaction, probably a WHO-led scam.

Sweden correctly did not impose the full-Gulag lockdown and had low death rates and has now achieved herd immunity – forget a vaccine, all flu’s end because herd immunity is reached.

CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL (CDC):
COMORBIDITIES PLAYED A HUGE ROLE IN DEATHS: OF THE ~200,000 AMERICAN DEATHS ATTRIBUTED TO COVID-19, ONLY ABOUT 6% WERE DUE SOLELY TO COVID-19.

Thu, 10/08/2020
The World Health Organization (WHO) has finally confirmed what we (and many experts and studies) have been saying for months – the coronavirus is no more deadly or dangerous than seasonal flu.

MY MARCH CALLS:
21March2020
LET’S CONSIDER AN ALTERNATIVE APPROACH:
Isolate people over sixty-five and those with poor immune systems and return to business-as-usual for people under sixty-five.
This will allow “herd immunity” to develop much sooner and older people will thus be more protected AND THE ECONOMY WON’T CRASH.
22March2020
This full-lockdown scenario is especially hurting service sector businesses and their minimum-wage employees – young people are telling me they are “financially under the bus”. The young are being destroyed to protect us over-65’s. A far better solution is to get them back to work and let us oldies keep our distance, and get “herd immunity” established ASAP – in months not years. Then we will all be safe again.

Early on Anders Tegnell (Sweden, health director) said very similar things during spring and is still discretely saying so.
One of Tegnell’s pensioned colleagues also made a YT video, can’t find it anymore, during the spring, where he explained that virtually all virus follow the same pattern and that he could not see this virus was any different, nor particular dangerous.

A week ago I wrote to Tegnell to cheer him up, because I get the impression he is pressed hard by the politicians to panic. Possibly due to Sweden constitutionally demands the health authorities exclusively make all decisions regarding public health, we have not had hard lock-down.
Everyone in school, except possibly Greta and masks are not recommended. Only one in about 10,000 use face masks.
Those who actually are seen with a mask, it is easier to spot a golden eagle, take it off when speaking and put it on when not speaking. When you keep your mouth zipped, there is very little chance of transmitting, thus the mask in that case is mostly a symbolic CO2 and bacterial concentration device.

And on top of all that it appears that the governments of the US, UK, Canada and Germany shut down on the word of one person in a bureaucracy (Fauci, Ferguson, Tam & Drosten). Despite all of them having a poor track record for predicting infectious outbreaks.

Excellent comments all – thank you – and also to Charles Higley just below. I just sent this note about you to my friend Dr D, a specialist medical doctor of notable competence who also saw through the Covid-19 lockdown scam by about end-March2020:
I wrote if you good people: “How is it that these people “get it right”, and our fearless leaders and their medical advisors get it so wrong?”
Of our fearless leaders and their advisors I wrote: “No honest, rational people can be this stupid for this long…”
What I mean by that comment is we are seeing a massive scam play out, where our leaders have been unknowingly or knowingly duped, and refuse to admit the obvious – so they carry on with a failed strategy rather than admit their failure (or duplicity).

One of the endearing qualities of former Alberta Ralph Klein was when he screwed up, he publicly admitted it: “We messed up, and we’re going to fix that right now, and we’re not going to do it again!” I do miss Ralph – a real no-nonsense guy. Ralph and his top advisors (Art Smith, Scobey Hartley, Rod Love et al) had tons of common sense – I doubt they would have been fooled by this destructive lockdown nonsense.

Read Charles Higley’s post below: November 12, 2020 at 8:19 am

The quality of the science of Covid-19 is so poor that we don’t even know if the new deaths are from Covid-19 or another seasonal flu – the lockdown did apparently enable Covid-19 to survive the summer, when seasonal flu’s normally die out, and live on into the new flu season. For elderly people, the survival of Covid-19 into the next flu season due to lockdown puts us at significantly greater risk. Attaboys all around.

We do know this:
The lockdown did not save lives, it cost lives – it did not save the lives of elderly people, typically due to poor contagion management of old-folks homes, but it did kill many young people – opioid deaths doubled or tripled in Alberta and BC during the lockdown – just the INCREASE in opioid deaths in Alberta and BC equaled or exceeded the TOTAL deaths attributed to Covid-19. And the opioid deaths were of young people averaging in their 30’s, whereas the average age of Covid-19 deaths was about 80 – total “years of life lost” due to the foolish lockdown was enormous and tragic.

Young and poor people were savaged by unemployment, loss of jobs and incomes, loss of social interaction, and despair. Businesses large and small were destroyed and their owners and employees thrown under the bus. Families forced under these stresses were shattered – all to “protect” society from a flu that was only significantly dangerous to the very elderly and infirm – only 6% of those who died had no major co-morbidities, and many were in the last years or months of their lives.

I published on 21March2020 that the Covid-19 lockdown was a very bad idea – the experience of Sweden verifies that conclusion – and yet our politicians and their medical advisors continue the lockdown debacle.

Following is an excerpt from my saga of ignored advice to our Alberta government – Episode 15:

Subject: END THIS HARMFUL LOCKDOWN NOW – 15

Just yesterday I received the following 15March2020 article from the National Post. Written by two recognized Canadian infectious diseases specialists, it reaches essentially the same conclusions as my comments of 21&22March2020: NO general lockdown for Covid-19, but over-protect the elderly and infirm. “The economic and social costs of pursuing quarantine are staggering and actually counter-productive.”

I can understand the reluctance of the Alberta government to hear me on the subject of Covid-19 and contagion policy – my expertise is energy and climate and my accomplishments are world-class, but apart from one paper I co-authored in 2015 I am not an authority on contagion. However, I cannot understand the reluctance of the Alberta government to hear these recognized world-class contagion experts, who published the same week as I did in March2020 and reached identical, correct conclusions that recommended against the Covid-19 lockdown.

The Covid-19 lockdown has done much more harm than good – it has resulted in many times more years-of-life-lost than the no-lockdown alternative. The lockdown sacrificed the lives of the young to death and despair while failing to adequately protect the elderly and infirm. It destroyed the economy and countless businesses and the lives of their employees and their owners. Opioid deaths in Alberta and BC ~doubled, families were severely stressed, young adults and the poor were especially harmed. The lockdown caused the delay for months of critical diagnostic tests and elective surgeries and created major backlogs in our health system. The lockdown enabled the Covid-19 illness to live on into the current flu season, rather than allow it to die out over the summer as seasonal flu’s often do. The lockdown cost many lives and many billions with no net benefit – it was a costly failure.

Sweden and South Dakota were among the only states that managed Covid-19 rationally – the rest of the world panicked and hugely over-reacted, and continue to do so. The damage from the lockdown is huge and largely irreparable, and yet the failed lockdown policies continue. One wonders how so many people could get it so wrong, and continue to err so egregiously to this day.

Finally, the truth about Covid-19 is dawning on the Canadian press – see these two articles from the Toronto Sun – better late than never. I published similar conclusions on 21&22March2020 – Told you so, 8 months ago!

Note to my American friends: The Dems have the same strategy as Trudeau – it’s actually the Davos internationalist strategy from the Marxist World Economic Forum, “coming soon to a theater near you”. You are being scammed by the Biden-Harris gang:

It’s ALL a Democrat scam – the enviro false scare including the climate and green-energy nonsense, the full-Gulag lockdown for Covid-19, paid-and-planned protests by Antifa and BLM, AND NOW the mail-in ballot election fraud – it’s all false. It is treason.

We published that the Climate-and-Green-Energy scare was a false narrative in 2002, and by 2009 I wrote that there was a covert agenda, Now the radical greens are admitting that “Global Warming aka Climate Change and Green Energy” was false propaganda, a smokescreen for their Marxist objectives – see recent statements from environmentalist Michael Schellenberger, from Saikat Chakrabarti, former chief of staff for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the latest movie trashing green energy scams from Michael Moore, “Planet of the Humans”.

I called Covid-19 correctly on 21March2020 – NO LOCKDOWN! Covid-19 was a relatively mild flu except for the very elderly and infirm. Covid-19 is less dangerous to the general public than seasonal flu’s of recent decades that nobody remembers – the full-Gulag lockdown was not just a huge over-reaction, it was a scam to steal the election, probably led by the Chinese-dominated WHO.

Sweden correctly did not impose the full-Gulag lockdown and had low death rates and is now at or near herd immunity – forget a vaccine, all seasonal flu’s die because herd immunity is reached.

The Covid-19 lockdown was used to enable the huge mail-in vote, where the Dems were able to produce hundreds of thousands (millions?) of false ballots. All the pieces of the puzzle are now in place.

The radical green objective is to destroy prosperity and move the USA into a planned Marxist economy – with a few rich at the top looking down on the many poor peasants – that now describes most countries and the USA is next if Biden wins.

We stand at the abyss. If Biden wins, it will be one man, one vote, once – the end of freedom. Europe and Canada have already fallen far down that “poverty road to Venezuela”. If America falls, there will be nowhere left to run to.

LILLEY: TRUDEAU HAS EYES SET ON A GREAT RESET FOR CANADA
https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/lilley-trudeau-has-eyes-set-on-a-great-reset-for-canada
Brian Lilley, Nov 17, 2020

If you thought Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had dropped the idea of using the pandemic to reimagine Canada, to reshape our country and our world, then think again.
The Liberals spent the summer speaking about the need to reimagine Canada post COVID— they even adopted the Biden campaign slogan of “Build Back Better.”
Days before the throne speech, the government began to pull back from that and put forward a more modest plan focused fully on the pandemic. Seems the idea of using a global health crisis as an excuse to fundamentally alter society didn’t sit well with the public.
Well, that doesn’t mean Trudeau was fully shying away from that idea when it came to speaking to a global audience. A video of the PM speaking to a United Nations meeting at the end of September has started to gain all the wrong kind of attention as people parsed and shared his words over the weekend.
“This pandemic has provided an opportunity for a reset,” Trudeau said.
“This is our chance to accelerate our pre-pandemic efforts to reimagine economic systems that actually address global challenges like extreme poverty, inequality and climate change.”
That one phrase from Trudeau, “an opportunity for a reset” is what really got tongues wagging and keyboards clicking. It’s proof he’s having Canada join “The Great Reset.”
Of course, it doesn’t help that Trudeau also invoked the name of a major United Nations program aimed at reshaping the economy, through environmental means, to embrace socialism.
“Building back better means getting support to the most vulnerable while maintaining our momentum on reaching the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” Trudeau said.
If you aren’t familiar with The Great Reset or Agenda 2030, fear not, it just means you are a very normal person leading your life. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be worried.
I’ve been talking and writing about Agenda 2030, or Agenda 21 as the UN previously called it, for years and most people don’t know about it. Although starting in the environmental movement, Agenda 2030 and its predecessor have been clear that they want to use climate change to bring about a more socialist economic change in society.
The Great Reset is a newer plan promoted by the World Economic Forum as a way to use the pandemic to change the global political and economic systems. They have launched a series of papers, talks and a podcast aimed at having those who attend and manage the WEF set out the terms for the reset.
“As we enter a unique window of opportunity to shape the recovery, this initiative will offer insights to help inform all those determining the future state of global relations, the direction of national economies, the priorities of societies, the nature of business models and the management of a global commons,” the WEF website states.
These aren’t conspiracy theories, these are plans laid out in the open for anyone with eyes to see. Sure, some conspiracy-theory types have attached themselves for these plans but that doesn’t make them less real or less worrisome.
That the prime minister would seek to use a global pandemic — one that has claimed the lives of more than 10,000 Canadians— to turn towards these projects to change Canada is wrongheaded. Trudeau didn’t run seeking a mandate for such change last year and he hasn’t asked for it since.
If Trudeau wants to use The Great Reset or Agenda 2030 to fundamentally change Canada into some kind of Euro-Green socialist utopia, then he should seek a mandate from the people.
Otherwise, he should get to work on dealing with the pandemic.

FUREY: THE IMPORTANT COVID DATA FROM ALBERTA THAT ALL CANADIANS NEED TO KNOW
https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/furey-the-important-covid-data-from-alberta-that-all-canadians-need-to-know
Anthony Furey, Nov 17, 2020

Ten. That’s the number of otherwise healthy people who have died from COVID-19 in Alberta since the beginning of the pandemic.
This may come as a surprise to people both in Alberta and around the country who are following the second wave of COVID-19 as it sends daily case counts rising in many Canadian provinces. One gets the sense that things are much worse.
But that is in fact the number from Alberta’s own official COVID-19 statistics.
The province’s comorbidity fact sheet is updated weekly, with the last one released on Nov. 11. The number of COVID-19 deaths recorded at that time was 369 individuals.
Out of that number, 75.3% of Albertans who died had done so while suffering “with 3 or more conditions” in addition to COVID-19.
The next highest figure were those suffering from two comorbidities in addition to COVID-19, which made up 16.5% of cases. Those with one extra condition made up 5.4%. And those without a comorbidity were 2.7% of the tally, or 10 persons.
As the Alberta government’s website explains: “The following comorbidities are included in respective analyses: Diabetes, Hypertension, COPD, Cancer, Dementia, Stroke, Liver cirrhosis, Cardiovascular diseases (including IHD and Congestive heart failure), Chronic kidney disease, and Immuno-deficiency.”
Note that old age is not listed as a comorbidity. So if any of the 282 Albertans who died of COVID-19 who are over 80 years old did not have a comorbidity they would be included in this tally of 10 deaths.
And while the government doesn’t offer categories for those who have died in their 90s and 100s beyond lumping them in the 80+ category, previous announcements from chief medical officer Deena Hinshaw have confirmed that there have been deaths in this cohort.
What does this tell us? For one, that there are a number of persons out there who are facing multiple serious health challenges and that they are particularly vulnerable to dying from COVID-19.
Their lives matter and we need to think of ways to better serve them.
The flip-side of this is that it also tells us how very few people who are not suffering from a previous medical condition have actually died of COVID-19.
“If you’re under 60 years of age and don’t have a medical condition your chances of having a serious outcome is way less than 1%,” Dr. Robert Sargeant, who attends to COVID-19 patients at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, told me in a recent interview.
“This continues to be a deadly virus for elderly people with medical conditions who live in nursing homes,” Sargeant added.
Sargeant says this all suggests — and other doctors I’ve interviewed in recent weeks say likewise — that we need to increase our efforts in protecting the most vulnerable while easing up on restrictions we’ve placed on low-risk groups, particularly children.
The Alberta government should be commended for making the comorbidity data available in a way that’s so readily accessible to public and media. Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia — to give three examples — do not make their comorbidity reports public.
There is also the chance that some provinces do not even compile this data, as one B.C. health ministry representative observed to me after I requested their comorbidity data.
It’s troubling that the politicians and health officials don’t reference this sort of important data more often. Instead, the likes of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ontario Premier Doug Ford like to offer alarmist rhetoric about rising case counts across the country. Their theatrical lines get turned into headlines, which frighten Canadians.
What we’re learning more and more though, is that the data tells a much less alarming story.

Dominion Voting Systems Shares Floor Space With Soros Group, Partnered With Soros’ Friend
So Much Nonsense In The 2020 Election
by PATRICK HOWLEY

November 13, 2020

Dominion Voting Systems shares an office floor with the George Soros-funded left-wing Tides Foundation in Toronto, NATIONAL FILE has learned. Our tipster makes clear that “Soros people” are very close with Dominion, which has partnered with a voting technology company chaired by one of left-wing billionaire George Soros’ best friends and associates. Dominion was caught flipping votes from President Donald Trump to Joe Biden in the 2020 election, and Trump has cited data to accuse Dominion of widespread vote-flipping and vote-losing in key states. Dominion is headquartered in Toronto and has a U.S. office in Denver.

The Robertson Building’s Directory of Tenants shows that Dominion Voting is listed at both Suite 200 (the suite Dominion lists publicly) and also Suite 370, which places it in neighborly range of the Tides Canada Foundation in suite 360. Tides Foundation in America, based in San Francisco, created and financially supports Tides Canada Foundation. The Tides Foundation has reportedly received more than $20 million in donations from George Soros’ groups, and Tides shares Soros’ vision for a radical left-wing makeover of Western civilization and the world. Tides has given out money to numerous left-wing groups including ACORN and Project Vote and recently created the Black Lives Matter Support Fund.

CCOVID-19 ASSESSMENT BY EMINENT PHYSICIAN AND VIROLOGIST DR. ROGER HODKINSON, 13NOV2020:
https://childrenshealthdefense.org/defender/health-expert-outraged-government-response-covid/

LEADING CANADIAN HEALTH EXPERT OUTRAGED AT GOVERNMENT RESPONSE TO COVID

“I would remind you all that using the province’s own statistics, the risk of death under 65 in this province is one in 300,000. One in 300,000. You’ve got to get a grip on this.”

https://childrenshealthdefense.org/defender/health-expert-outraged-government-response-covid/

Dr. Roger Hodkinson, MA, MB, FRCPC, FCAP, CEO and medical director of Western Medical Assessments, spoke at the Edmonton City Council Community and Public Services Committee meeting on Nov. 13 about the city’s move to extend its face-covering bylaw. He was listed as speaker number 95 on the meeting agenda.

Hodkinson was trained at Cambridge University in the UK. He is ex-president of the pathology section of the Medical Association. He was the chairman of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada Examination Committee and Pathology in Ottawa, Canada.

Here’s a recording of Dr. Hodkinson’s testimony: https://www.brighteon.com/6b749204-7aa0-4669-adc2-aa3505ee90f1

Here’s the transcript of Dr. Hodkinson’s testimony:

This is Dr. Hodkinson, I just wanted to let you know I’m standing by.

OK, well we would love to hear from you, the floor is yours.

Thank you very much. I do appreciate the opportunity to address you on this very important matter. What I’m going to say is lay language, and blunt. It is counter-narrative, and so you don’t immediately think I’m a quack, I’m going to briefly outline my credentials so that you can understand where I’m coming from in terms of knowledge base in all of this.

I’m a medical specialist in pathology which includes virology. I trained at Cambridge University in the UK. I’m the ex-president of the pathology section of the Medical Association. I was previously an assistant professor in the Faculty of Medicine doing a lot of teaching. I was the chairman of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada Examination Committee and Pathology in Ottawa, but more to the point I’m currently the chairman of a biotechnology company in North Carolina selling the COVID-19 test.

And [inaudible] you might say I know a little bit about all of this. The bottom line is simply this: There is utterly unfounded public hysteria driven by the media and politicians. It’s outrageous. This is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on an unsuspecting public. There is absolutely nothing that can be done to contain this virus. Other than protecting older, more vulnerable people. It should be thought of as nothing more than a bad flu season. This is not Ebola. It’s not SARS. It’s politics playing medicine and that’s a very dangerous game.

There is no action of any kind needed other than what happened last year when we felt unwell. We stayed home, we took chicken noodle soup, we didn’t visit granny and we decided when we would return to work. We didn’t need anyone to tell us.

Masks are utterly useless. There is no evidence base for their effectiveness whatsoever. Paper masks and fabric masks are simply virtue-signaling. They’re not even worn effectively most of the time. It’s utterly ridiculous. Seeing these unfortunate, uneducated people — I’m not saying that in a pejorative sense — seeing these people walking around like lemmings, obeying without any knowledge base, to put the mask on their face.

Social distancing is also useless because COVID is spread by aerosols which travel 30 meters or so before landing. Enclosures have had such terrible unintended consequences. Everywhere should be opened tomorrow as well as was stated in the Great Barrington Declaration that I circulated prior to this meeting.

And a word on testing: I do want to emphasize that I’m in the business of testing for COVID. I do want to emphasize that positive test results do not, underlined in neon, mean a clinical infection. It’s simply driving public hysteria and all testing should stop. Unless you’re presenting to the hospital with some respiratory problem.

All that should be done is to protect the vulnerable and to give them all in the nursing homes that are under your control, give them all 3,000 to 5,000 international units of vitamin D every day which has been shown to radically reduce the likelihood of Infection.

And I would remind you all that using the province’s own statistics, the risk of death under 65 in this province is one in 300,000. One in 300,000. You’ve got to get a grip on this.

The scale of the response that you are undertaking with no evidence for it is utterly ridiculous given the consequences of acting in a way that you’re proposing. All kinds of suicides, business closures, funerals, weddings etc. It’s simply outrageous! It’s just another bad flu and you’ve got to get your minds around that.

Let people make their own decisions. You should be totally out of the business of medicine. You’re being led down the garden path by the chief medical officer of health for this province. I am absolutely outraged that this has reached this level. It should all stop tomorrow.

Thank you very much.

We are into the next flu season now and they are armed with a crappy PCR test that detects influenza, other coronaviruses (covis), the common cold rhinovirus, and even some human genetic sequences. So, they can now pretend that C-19 is still around and there is a second wave, etc. This is how the get away with calling this a “novel” virus, pretending that all existing virological principles do not apply.

The garbage that you can get infected more than once and that immunity is very short-lived belies the fact that the flu season is a salad of influenza and coronaviruses and one can catch or several at the same time or at different times, which is why symptoms of C-19 syndrome vary so much, symptoms overlap.

They do not talk at all about the normal death rate of the elderly and immunocompromised during EVERY flu season, with pneumonia being the most lethal complication, and certainly do not want to mention that the new flu season has new mutated coronaviruses, being RNA viruses they mutate rapidly, that can make one sick again but not through lost immunity in the short term.

One reason so few people got sick with this syndrome is that many people have already been infected with similar viruses in the last flu seasons, providing a modicum of herd immunity. There is no evidence that immunity is short term and indeed this herd immunity suggests that immunity is in terms of years.

The idea of viral carriers is also a joke. Typhoid Mary was famous because she had no symptoms but harbored typhoid. This is a rare thing, which is why she is famous. They now want the public to assume that all symptomatic positive PCR test individuals are carriers, such as 25%, and, of course, Trump was immediately labeled a “super carrier.” What a joke.

This pandemic mess is hinged on the crappy and nonspecific PCR test, which is not fit for purpose and junk science. The antibody test is nonspecific as it is designed against unspecified viruses never properly identified or isolate, and the touted vaccines, which by definition cannot be specific as it is based on nothing, no Gold Standard culture of the virus properly identified to cause C-19 syndrome.

Not for lack of trying, scientists have been unable to produce reasonably effective vaccines against RNA viruses (covis) for decades and, now, they want us to think they can do so in a matter of months? Their route is gene therapy is a nonstarter for anyone with half a brain that they use.

The true basis for this scamdemic is that no virus has been isolated, identified, cultured, and shown to cause C-19 syndrome by anyone anywhere. Why would this be? It takes years to isolate and separate all the viruses a group of patients might have. Then, it has to be shown that all the people with C-19 symptoms ALWAYS have the one virus present. This work has not been done.

So, with a crappy PCR test and duping the public into ASSUMING that the real needed science has been done, the authorities have a mythical virus which they tout as deadly, but really is weaker, up to 10-fold weaker, than influenza.

It is telling that, starting in April 2020, nobody in the US died from influenza. That’s seven months, WOW. In other years, there is always a background death rate of the infirm from influenza and complications They simply assume anyone who gets sick is the unicorn C-19. A positive PCR result tells us nothing, as it is so nonspecific. In addition, PCR processing can be easily abused and made to produce positive results at will. Even Dr. Fauci admits that a positive PCR test result means nothing if the PCR cycles were 35 or above. Most labs process samples at 35 to 40 cycles.

The basis of this fraud is that they call you a “case” if you have a positive PCR result, regardless of if you are sick or not. In the real world, you are not a case until you are actually sick and have seen a doctor who diagnoses the problem as real. The test is crap and tells you nothing, but it is used as a cudgel by the authorities to then be able to do anything they want to you.

We need to treat the symptoms of those who become ill and stop trying to damage everyone else who is not ill. In no world with actually thinking people does locking down a nation or world make ant sense. None, Nada, and is effectively a crime against the people or humanity, respectively

Ron Klain, Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s appointee for chief-of-staff, February 13 tweeted “We don’t have a Covid-19 epidemic in the US but we are starting to see a fear epidemic.”

Ron Klain, Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s appointee for chief-of-staff, February 13 tweeted “We don’t have a Covid-19 epidemic in the US but we are starting to see a fear epidemic.”

Yet Biden hired Klain, his VP chief-of-staff, specifically for his public health experience and presumed expertise, according to a Nov. 11 campaign press release: “Ron has been invaluable to me over the many years that we have worked together, including as we rescued the American economy from one of the worst downturns in our history in 2009 and later overcame a daunting public health emergency in 2014.”

The press release points to Klain’s role as White House Ebola Response Coordinator during a Ebola outbreak. On his Twitter page, Klain describes himself as the “ex-Ebola Czar” for the Obama administration.

The Ebola outbreak of 2014-16 that killed 15,261 people was contained in six West African countries. Of the total of eight cases treated outside of these countries, four were in the United States. The sole death outside of Africa occurred in the United States, the CDC said (see graphic below).

Klain’s appointment and Ebola creds were celebrated this week by Vermont pundit Kevin Ellis, on his Twitter feed: “He ran Ebola response for Obama and is a serious professional. Refreshing.”

But Klain failed to foresee the public health consequences of Covid-19. On February 13, he tweeted “We don’t have a Covid-19 epidemic in the US but we are starting to see a fear epidemic.” This remark came 11 days after Trump banned travel from China – a decision criticized by Klain at the time.

That’s not the only wrongheaded assessment of Covid-19 made by Klain. Consider these statements:

February 11: “A serious epidemic – now, the coronavirus may be that, it may not be that. The evidence suggests it’s probably not that.”
January 28: “I wouldn’t [ban Chinese travelers from arriving in the U.S.]. I think that’s premature.”
January 27: “I think what you’d have to say about China is, it’s been more transparent and more candid than it has been during past outbreaks.”
February 27: “Here’s one more thing everyone should do. They should, tonight, go down to Chinatown in their city and buy dinner or go shopping there. What we see inevitably, what we’re seeing already, is … people staying away out of needless fears about coronavirus.

Klain wasn’t the only “expert” to get it wrong, of course. But he is the only one to be named the #1 advisor of the man who may be our next president.

Oeman, it is also true that Biden doesn’t have the power under the Constitution to enforce a lockdown across the country. The Supremes would be in on it for sure, and Trump couldn’t get a nation wide opening because he didn’t have the authority. I think Biden is a lot of bluster and yak, I don’t think he will get much of anything done even if he does become the President.

Peru is also hot and humid and yet they have the highest death rates on the planet… If you map the deaths per million by country it’s clear that the further you get from SE Asia you get the lower the death rates – with the Americas and Europe being worst hit. “Darkest” Africa also has very low death rates. Not sure if this link will work – you may have to copy and paste into your browser. It’s a map from OWID.

My guess for Peru is malnutrition and tuberculosis. Not a lot of difference between symptoms of TB and covid. As long as covid is the obsession, chances are great that TB will be misdiagnosed as covid; and if tuberculous pneumonia is treated as viral pneumonia then things will not go well for the patient. Peru has the highest rates of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis in the Americas. Malnutrition is also a significant problem.

An added note… Peru implemented the harshest lockdown in the world. Imagine the stress that has caused the population. Latent TB can become active and lethal when the immune system is challenged by things like stress and reduced access to food brought on by movement restrictions and a collapsed supply chain.

Approx 62% of Australia’s population lives in 5 metropolitan areas. As well the vast majority of the residents live near the coast
I believe you are misrepresenting Australia’s density
However Aus & NZ do have a natural barrier being surrounded by ocean
But maybe the biggest factor, Aus only has 7 states and the smaller # makes it easier to coordinate a policy

Dryness helps viruses stay in the air. It’s humidity that adds onto aerosols, increases weight, and brings it to the ground. BTW humidity can be high or low but not cool. I think you meant cool.

I was in Peru back in the late 1960s and it was perpetually parched. Old US cars from 1950 were common and the only thing that wore out were the tires. Nothing rusted.

Excellent link, thank you. I have been wondering why we haven’t been hearing anything about China where this originated. I was amazed to see the numbers from the Cumulative confirmed COVID-19 deaths chart when I displayed and compared the numbers for USA, Canada, and China:

Numbers as of Nov 12, 2020
USA – 241.800 deaths, 730 per million
Canada – 10,685 deaths, 283 per million
China – 4,739 deaths, 3.3 per million

Why are China’s numbers so low? Are they not reporting? I find this hard to believe.

That is easy as they disallowed flights internally from Wuhan but still allowed international flights and most of them were going to Italy where they had a very low death rate in the previous flu year so it was a bit of a catch up year.

In any case failing to preserve ballot papers in some states, use of blackbox voting machines is all clear evidence that the process is rigged by design and is non verifiable.

Jill Stein tried to challenge the use of machines in 2016 but the courts refused to look at it. If that had happened we would not be here now.

Dr Shivas’s study is not controversial – it is inconvenient for some political groups. It is an objective look at the data and I was astonished to discover that there is vote transfer mechanism written into the software as an option.
As a non-US citizen, I realise that the Constitution passes responsibility to State legislatures, but I would have thought that Federal legislation on using identical, validated software would be a good thing.

All the people who run the power plants will not be allowed to go to work.
All the people who run the water purification plants and the sewage purification will not be allowed to go to work.
There will be no power, no cell phones, no water, no grocery stores, no gas stations, no liquor stores, no government offices to which to complain…

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-11-09/pfizer-vaccine-s-funding-came-from-berlin-not-washington

It’s said that success has many authors, and the encouraging data from Pfizer Inc.’s experimental Covid-19 vaccine had plenty of people in Washington lining up to take credit.

Vice President Mike Pence was among Trump administration officials saying support from the government’s Operation Warp Speed program helped accelerate the development of the vaccine, which was found to be more than 90% effective in preventing symptomatic Covid-19 infections in an interim analysis.

The truth is that Pfizer didn’t receive any funding from Operation Warp Speed for the development, clinical trial and manufacturing of the vaccine. Rather, its partner, BioNTech SE, has received money — from the German government.

BioNTech is credited for contributing the messenger RNA technology, which prompts the body to make a key protein from the virus, creating an immune response. The biotechnology company already had a history of working with Pfizer on influenza vaccines, and in March they clinched a deal to co-develop a shot to prevent against Covid-19 at research sites both in the U.S. and Germany. The two companies began human testing of the vaccine in April, before the existence of Operation Warp Speed was revealed publicly.

Berlin gave the German company $445 million in an agreement in September to help accelerate the vaccine by building out manufacturing and development capacity in its home market.

What the U.S. did, meanwhile, was commit to buying hundreds of millions of vaccines in advance to ensure Americans were among the first in line if it clinches an emergency-use authorization or approval from the FDA. The Trump administration agreed in July to pay almost $2 billion for 100 million doses, with an option to acquire as many as 500 million more, once that clearance comes.

Derp derp derp derp derp

(1) Pfizer was part of Operation Warp Speed.

(2) It doesn’t matter if they didn’t get upfront R&D money as part of Operation Warp Speed. They were getting paid for results.

(3) Operation Warp Speed wasn’t just about funding. It allowed for parallelization of processes for selected vaccines in development and trials – such as Pfizers – which saved time for Pfizer and other participants.

The bottom line is that the US gov’t under Trump and Pence gave Pfizer a $2 billion carrot and a fast-track method for demonstrating safety and success as part of Operation Warp Speed.

ghalfrunt, I diligently checked your comments and find the following: Pfizer signed an advance deal for 1.9 billion U$D. but for delivery, not for development. Pfizer did, however, leverage this agreement to secure additional funding, some of which was included in the warp speed money. The truth is that the amount of money that warp speed put into play greatly accelerated the development of coronavirus vaccines, and will also speed up bulk production and distribution.

You cannot make an effective vaccine against rapidly mutating viruses, particularly RNA viruses such as coronaviruses. This is not a new problem, as researchers have been trying to make a useful vaccine for decades.

However, the new strategy is to inject genetic material into people as a “vaccine” supposedly to make your body make a viral protein that then your body generates antibodies against it. A HUGE problem is that no one anywhere has isolated this virus in pure culture, let alone established it to be the one supposedly killing people. How can a vaccine that makes your body make a protein to be reacted to when the actual protein of the virus is not available.

They took 37 base pairs from some sequenced isolate and had a computer fill in the remaining 30,000 base pairs and then the claim they have the virus! This is why the tests for this virus are by definition general for coronaviruses, the only data the computers have or from Cars Cov-1, and even detects the common cold rhinovirus. It’s a cosmic joke.

If we counted flu deaths the way we count COVID-19 deaths, the US would have at least 200,000 flu deaths each winter, and over 1,000,000 for severe strains like H1N1. A few weeks ago the WHO said 750 million had contracted COVID-19, and the “official” number of deaths at that time was close to 1 million. So, doing simple math, 1 / 750 = 0.0013, or 0.13%. So 99.87% of the people who get COVID-19 recover. About 99.6% of the people who get H1N1 recover. And what is worse about the flu, it kills young and old, healthy and unhealthy. COVID-19 only kills the unhealthy or very old.

If the media told the truth about the virus, there would have never ever been a lockdown. And nobody would have ever been scared.

CDC does not know the exact number of people who have been sick and affected by influenza because influenza is not a reportable disease in most areas of the U.S. However, CDC has estimated the burden of flu since 2010 using a mathematical model . . .

Burden of flu” (BOF) is the key phrase in the above.

This (BOF) is much nicer than nasty deaths. [Okay, I do understand the problem.]

Nearly 3 million people die every year in the U.S., around 7500 daily in warmer months and 9000 in the cooler, low sunshine months during which infectious diseases disproportionately afflict the elderly.

Over the short term, no lockdowns, almost nothing will greatly stop people from dying of old age and the diseases that take most of them. Vaccines may help.

In many places, influenza and pneumonia were mild in 2019, so many at death’s door were perhaps fortunate to survive last winter. The inevitable will not be denied.

The reality is magic, miss-direction to achieve social change: You truly can not call a motorcycle death a COVID-19 death but they are, you should not expose groups known to be ‘High Risk’ to COVID-19 but they do. Test to detect COVID-19 ;
According to The New York Times, potentially 90 percent of those who have tested positive for COVID-19 have such insignificant amounts of the virus present in their bodies that such individuals do not need to isolate nor are they candidates for contact tracing. Leading public health experts are now concerned that overtesting is responsible for misdiagnosing a huge number of people with harmless amounts of the virus in their systems.

Griff, it’s always nice to see your BS comments. You do understand that the number of deaths is just an interesting way of counting the cause of death. If you look at the CDC Weekly Counts of Deaths by State and Select Causes, 2019-2020, you’ll see that the difference in the number of deaths by week in 2020 and 2019 is decreasing, along with the total deaths by week in 2020. Since the numbers are looking better, now is certainly the time for a lockdown. And since you come from a small country, let me remind you that the US has the 3rd largest population in the world, about 60 million ahead of 4th place Indonesia, so our number of deaths probably would be higher than most other countries.

To get to where Australia is (1) Lockdown for over 6 months ,(2) impose nightly curfews, (3) limit people’s movements to 5 km ( 4) compulsory masks (5) Arrest and fine people who protest or even just put on line a suggestion that they should protest ( 6 ) continually blame the people for not obeying the rules quick enough. ( 7) tell the people that if you play golf or go fishing or surfing you risk killing people (8) have fines of $200 for not wearing a mask or $5000 for having more than one visitor in your house (9) Make sure that citizens cannot leave the country and severely limit returning Australians who must be locked up in a hotel room for 14 days ( 10) Close down interstate borders even when there are two states that have zero active cases. (11) No non essential travel whatsoever and you can leave the house for only one hour per day.

Lockdowns have not made any difference globally. And masks are ineffective. It’s an aerosol-virus that is primarily transmitted by prolonged indoor contact with an infected individual.

Masks ‘help a little’ – as Fauci said (at the beginning) it’s window dressing.

But I’m not surprised the same people that think we can micromanage the climate via a bottom-up C02-regulation of a few percent of the input from a single species, are all for draconian and ineffective control mechanisms for a disease that the vast majority of people not only survive, but don’t even know they have.

This is what they mean when they say God hates a coward – because your actions provide you the life you deserve.

They now also have far to many people infected to be able to do contact tracing. I would guess the only reason you would do a lockdown would be if your hospitals hit max capacity other than that you might as well ride it out.

————————
The reason you want to keep on top of the virus is that hospitals and their staff will become overwhelmed and the death rate will increase as staff will have to chose whom to treat.

The virus will not go away until R0 is less than 1 and cases fall. this is unlikely to happen until herd immunity is reached – preferably with vaccines rather than natural.

The other possibilities is that the virus will enter other animals then mutate and re-infect humans with a virus that is not fixed by current immunity – vaccine or other.
Denmark has already suffered this fate with 17M mink being destroyed. But the mink population is world wide and there are other wild animals that can become infected -stoats badgers etc. Let the virus run riot in the population and the chance of human-human mutation is also increased. Also with large numbers infected the chance of species jumping is increased.

So lockdowns will not kill the virus.

Exactly, Carl! The motto is the same. Grab power, control peoples’ wellbeing, make more and more money. All are model-based analyses and conclusion as models can direct your outcome as you wish.

If you give more money, funding, awards, position to those scientists then any outcome can be manipulated using models. People already know those puppets, money-minded greedy scientists. In this manipulative process, true scientists are downtrodden. Their voices are never heard, valued or respected.

Here’s an experiment. Democrat voters can follow a Biden lockdown. Republican voters are exempt. This works for both sides in the political divide because:

(a) Democrats think it will save them and adversely affect Republican supporters
(b) Republicans will be able to continue with normal life and running their businesses and jobs

If the idea works then we can extend it to zero carbon. All Democrat states and voters must go zero carbon, all Republican states and voters drop renewables and switch back to fossil fuels.

What’s not to like?

Lord Buckethead who stood for a parliamentary seat in our last U.K. election had the right idea, although sadly he didn’t win the seat. Wear a big plastic bucket over your head with two eyeholes and a heavy cape.
Clearly he was ahead of his time – Biden should tell everyone to wear plastic buckets over their head when they venture out . Fortunately buckets are available in a tasteful range of colours, including heavy duty black or bright metal for those likely to be exposed to nasal spray and other dubious human fluids.
No more problem with social distancing and a welcome boost to hardware stores and the plastics industry. Driving will become an interesting experience.

The biggest advantage Oz and NZ have is geographical. Both are islands “at the bottom of the world” with large ocean distances to neighbours and thus are not international trading or flight hubs. This means there are fewer vectors for the disease.

As for Dr. Michael Osterholm, he’s an imbecile. Spain and Italy had very draconian lockdowns for similar periods and this did not reduce the disease to Antipodean levels so it’s obviously not going to work in the US which has a far higher populous including many more areas of high density living.

The only thing such a lockdown will do is to cause extra economic destruction. May be that’s the aim.

Kevin kilty
November 12, 2020 7:30 am

I don’t see how a 4-6 week shutdown will be anything but destructive. The orders of officials around here make no difference at all, and the plans they come up with, after much input and discussion, are just derivatives of other plans and are ineffectual.

I have smoothed our stats on the WDH (state) site using a Kalman filter and the result is pretty revealing. Early we had the case numbers jump quickly but absolutely leveled and began declining on about March 20. This was too fast for the rather mild shutdown ordered by the governor on Mar 19 to have any effect. There is no data at all about how people were responding to the pandemic, so we don’t know why COVID-19 was kept at bay. Weather was cold and miserable at the time. Should have been perfect for spread. Then on or about May 31 the epidemic grew very slowly until July 21. Tourists all over, town busy, mask usage perhaps 30%. As the epidemic now declined until about Sept 1, into the 20 cases per day range, people began to exhibit more hysteria.

Mask usage grew to perhaps 80%, University plans demanded 100% masks on UW property or in cars, and there were detailed commands for riding in cars and in elevators, walking around campus, a snitch line, threats of being fired, etc. The big problem seemed to appear from the twice per week testing of everyone — sick or not. False postives caused wheel spinning, false negatives got through, soon we have growing case numbers, but without knowing who or how many were truly infectious. The most common story I overhear around town is that so-and-so tested positive, never had symptoms, never gave it to roomates — “no rhyme or reason” is our most common phrase. Mask usage is probably 85% or more.

Students were warned not to go home, but the conversations I overhear suggest they knew this but did so anyway, and soon we had growing numbers around the state. The Governor offered free Vault test to everyone around the state with the usual troubles with false positives and negatives. Last week our health official promulgated rules making not wearing masks a criminal offense, but has so many exemptions that mask usage may actually decline. I wrote to her suggesting the orders are heavy handed, probably won’t be effective if observations have any value, the masks the evidence is based on are actually N95 respirators which no one uses, and the epidemic will only stop once all the students go home permanently or get herd immunity. University announced yesterday that we are going 100% online as of Monday and will send students home “safely”.

The are many more stories about how students outwit administartors, but suffice it to say, it’s is a parody. I am guessing the Biden administration will be able to scale this example up nationally.

That, of course, is the intention. No sane person would be talking about lockdowns for a disease that 99.7% of people survive, when lockdowns have failed to prevent the spread of that disease anyway and merely cause economic devastation.

The US is a republic of states, each with its own (mostly) independent government. The US President is the head of the Executive branch, not a dictator, and can’t make laws. Even when the federal government does pass laws, it has limited authority over the semi-sovereign states. A complete shut-down of the entire country can’t be effectuated by the President, even with the help of Congress, which is unlikely anyways. The best the President can to is to cajole the states into doing what he wants, but it’s a bit like trying to herd cats. This is an intentional feature of our system, not a defect; it helps reduce government overreach and prevent tyranny.

Four other facts have assisted Australia greatly, which also need to be considered.
1- Early action by Federal Government on closing international borders. Flights from Wuhan were banned within days of the 1st case. Flights from China banned the following week, then ALL international flights banned about 2 weeks after that, and mandatory 14 day hotel quarantine introduced. Australia and NZ were the quickest in the world at closing their international borders.
2 – The bushfires in Eastern Australia. International tourist numbers were well down over Jan-Feb, and forecast international tourist arrivals for March were well down.
3 – Despite the portrayal of us Aussies being ‘easy going’ and ‘casual’ (which we are), the level of compliance to control measures has been very high. As much as we hate it, we’ve gritted our teeth and whinged through clenched lips – but we’ve complied. Trust in Government and emergency services and the defence force is very high here compared to most countries.
4 – The Jobkeeper initiative introduced very early on (end March) by the Australian Government which allowed people to safely stay at home, knowing their jobs were protected by paying their base salary/wage on behalf of their employer – which gave people more comfort in staying at home under lockdown.

No, the evidence does not support that conclusion. In America, there were recurring spikes accompanying mandate enforcement after a population had already reached peak exponential spread and was declining. In Japan, they did not have lockdowns, they have a high infection rate, and low disease progression and mortality. The only lockdown, or rather special consideration in time and space, necessary, is for individuals at high risk, including older men and women with comorbidities, and that is only in the company of others who do not already have preexisting or acquired immunity.

Seven studies have confirmed the benefit of universal masking in community level analyses: in a unified hospital system,38 a German city,39 a U.S. state,40 a panel of 15 U.S. states and Washington, D.C.,41,42 as well as both Canada43 and the U.S.44 nationally. Each analysis demonstrated that, following directives from organizational and political leadership for universal masking, new infections fell significantly. Two of these studies42,44 and an additional analysis of data from 200 countries that included the U.S.45 also demonstrated reductions in mortality. An economic analysis using U.S. data found that, given these effects, increasing universal masking by 15% could prevent the need for lockdowns and reduce associated losses of up to $1 trillion or about 5% of gross domestic product.42

Anecdotal evidence. No, they haven’t. A clinical study from the early 80s in surgical centers across the country, demonstrated an elevated rate of patient infection when the doctors, nurses, and staff were with masks. Masks have limited utility in short spans, and in the general population. Droplets evaporate and the material is either ingested or blown out. Aerosols bypass most mask filters altogether. In a controlled environment (medical center), they discovered non-viable viral fragments in the patients’ and viable viruses on surfaces near sanitation facilities. In a military recruitment center, they instituted an enforced lockdown, with masks, and the virus spread to previously uninfected individuals.

A study of an outbreak aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt, an environment notable for congregate living quarters and close working environments, found that use of face coverings on-board was associated with a 70% reduced risk.35

What they likely discovered is that a large minority, and perhaps a majority, have preexisting immunity, and are not viable spreaders, thus a community (“herd”) immunity effect.

Here in the UK (England) lockdown, the mass testing in the viral hotspot of Liverpool has shown a coronavirus infection rate of 0.5%. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPG8d3e43Xk
As 0.5% may well be within the error range for the test, the pandemic is over in spite of the continuing lockdown. Either herd immunity has been achieved, or the virus has found its niche at a low level of circulation. This evidence shows that any ongoing restrictions in the UK have nothing to do with protecting health of the population, or protecting the NHS. We need to open the economy, get out to the High Streets, and start living again.

Testing is for people showing NO symptoms. These 0.5% [or is it 0.7%] would have gone to infect others.

The 0.5% is from the linked video, and confirmed by the Liverpool Mayor’s tweet of 11 Nov, but may vary over time as test results are added, still in the order of 0.5% positive rate. The RT-LAMP and RNA RT-LAMP tests have high specificity, are less sensitive than high cycle PCR, but the sensitivity has been evaluated at 80% rising to 96% with high viral load. An infection rate around 0.5% is subject to competing interpretations, but in conjunction with the previous levelling off from symptomatic testing, suggests that herd imminity is close to suppressing any further spread. Under those conditions, just a little more spread (preferably asymptomatic amongst the young) could tip the balance into herd immunity. Lockdowns at this stage are probably inhibiting the last bit of immunity being built up, so are preventing us from achieving herd immunity.

The great reset is what it is all about. Instead of a war to reset everything (since the ponzi scheme of central banks is imploding) they want to destroy everything by means of a hyped up virus. It is a ploy to make us accept their digital currency. If you don’t tow the line, your digital wealth is neutered with the click of a mouse. They will use the hysterical crisis as a ploy to steal our property and silence dissent.
The tactics of scaremongering are the same as for cAGW/ “climate change” – refusal to debate, cherrypicking and manipulating data, exaggeration, denigrating dissent, name calling of opponents, intimidating the media to go along with the scam, teaching children in school that the BS is real, appeal to authority. The list is endless.
The similarities are disturbing. So much for our “leaders”- a REAL leader stands up to the BS and does not force us to swallow the BS like we are dung betles.

REAL leaders use information from scientists and follow the path recommended to allow future generations to prosper even if it means causing some hardship now.

What scientific evidence do you have that you can share the proves we are not heading towards a climate that will cause future generations problems?

Spend a week or two reading all the articles on this site since it was created then use the material between your ears. CO2 is a good gas, without it we would not be here, we would have become extinct long ago.
