Guterres, in his capacity as depositary of the 1946 WHO constitution, “is in the process of verifying with the World Health Organization whether all the conditions for such withdrawal are met,” his spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, said.
Under the terms of the withdrawal, the U.S. must meet its financial obligations to the WHO before it can be finalized. The U.S., which is the agency’s largest donor and provides it with more than $400 million per year, currently owes the WHO some $200 million in current and past dues.

The president said in a White House announcement that Chinese officials “ignored” their reporting obligations to the WHO and pressured the organization to mislead the public about an outbreak that has now killed more than 130,000 Americans.
“We have detailed the reforms that it must make and engaged with them directly, but they have refused to act,” Trump said at the time. “Because they have failed to make the requested and greatly needed reforms, we will be today terminating the relationship.”

What really caught my attention is the United Nations response.
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres’ priority appears to be trying to extract a last few hundred million out of the USA.
Instead of accepting the USA’s withdrawal with good grace, and say expressing hope of a future rapprochement, the United Nations is going through the fine print, to see if they can squeeze President Trump and US taxpayers for a bit more cash before the money pipe is closed.
Withdraw from the WHO today and withdraw from the UN tomorrow. Leave the UN in New York though, because New Yorkers deserve to be tormented. Sounds like the WHO is trying to utilize the Brexit strategy, you can’t leave until we get all of your money.
All Trump has to do is say “No” to any further payments. They have no enforcement mechanism.
When the UN presents a bill, we will ask Congress to consider a supplemental appropriation.

To count the numbers of cases identified as the main measure of the disease is rather shallow. It is deaths that should be the measure, and that is falling. We need to get back to living while taking what measures we can to recover out economy.

The Wuhan virus is not kind to those who are susceptible to it.
And we still don’t know the long-term health effects of having the Wuhan virus in the body for weeks or months. You may recover from the initial infection only to find that it has caused damage to the system that is still an issue long after the infection is gone.

Now Germany will have to pay more for their own defense to makeup for the American troops. And American troops spend a lot of money in Germany. That’s why the Germans are whining.
I hear Trump may move those American troops from Germany to Poland instead of bringing them home. Poland is paid up on its dues to NATO and Poland is more on the “front line” than is Germany now.
Germany won’t pay their dues. I guess they don’t have enough money after blowing so much on windmills.
It’s just like the WHO: Trump says things need to change. No change comes from the WHO or Germany. So Trump makes changes. You brought it upon yourselves, people. You ought to listen when Trump lays down a marker.
And Germany is working with Russia to invest in their energy pipeline… so we pay to give them security and they save that money to pour into Russia gas… which they say not in my back yard due to climate change… or some drivel

Hopefully more nations will see that post BREXIT UK have a better life, with less restrictive practices imposed on them from the the despotic European Commission, with it’s an indirectly elected President and all their bureaucratic turds and toe-rags.
With luck the French, Greek, Belgium, Italian and many other independent parties will get into office and take back their county’s sovereignty and leave the EU prison. Leave the EU and trade with the US!

If there is something resembling a contractual agreement that says how much the US owes WHO then there must be some details about what WHO owes the US and other members. Something about honest, objective efforts to promote the health and wellbeing of all world citizens above any political or personal agendas perhaps? So WHO owes who? And WHO first broke the contract?
