How pandemics are linked to climate change

Video from the LA times (gag)

Environmental factors including deforestation, air pollution and urbanization contribute to the severity of pandemics like COVID-19. Experts warn that if we continue to destroy the environment, future pandemics could become more common.

F…wits will always try to blame whatever happens on natural climate variability and call that climate change. Air pollution and CO2 emissions are two very different thing. One needs to be addressed the other can be ignored. You can find me on Quora to work out what is really happening.

Ah , I get it, bats infected pangolins, pangolins infected polar bears and polar bears were sold at a “wet market” in Wuhan.

Many thanks to the LA LoonyTimes for this key element. I had failed to realise where polar bears came into the sars-cov-2 pandemic until now.

So apparently there is not need to look at biosecurity at P4 biolabs, no need to have a very close look at the risks and benefits of deliberately mutating viruses to attack our own organism, all we need to do is keep chanting the “zero carbon” matra and all other problems will disappear.

The best tasting fish come from ice cold waters. I suspect the same is true for bear meat? I look forward to trying some tasty Polar Bear meat at the Alaska frozen wet market. Thanks for asking, but no … I don’t need the bear’s gall bladder for those kind of male problems … I’m quite healthy in all departments.

The increase in anthropogenic CO2 in the atmosphere means that the percentage of O2 is correspondingly less, which could indicate a causal effect seen in the increase of confused thinking and poor logic. The insane conclusions that every unfortunate thing is climate change driven may be the caused by climate change. This theory could be studied if you send money.

Plandemic is correct terminology of the LATimes article. It’s pretty obvious what’s going on now that we’re behind every other country with respect to reopening. It ain’t about getting sick and might’ve never been, but it’s totally inexcusable not to get this country open unless the objective is something else that has nothing to do with getting sick. Like, plandemic.

I think you are correct, although we should probably expect extensive death throes. They won’t give up easily (lots of money and personal committment involved). But I think it is inevitable, since they have no evidence on which to base their claims, and it doesn’t look like there is going to be any evidence that vindicates them. They’ve looked long and hard and haven’t found anything to hang their hats on. So they resort to making things up using their computer models, which don’t reflect reality.

Welllll…

In the case of the Black Death, its first appearance (in Europe) coincided with the start of falling temperatures from the Medieval Warm Period, leaving people vulnerable because of malnutrition, and the American Flu (to give it its proper name) followed a cold snap. So there was a Climate Change in both cases. Unfortunately, the climate changes continuously, so its makes it really really difficult to draw any conclusions.

From the article: “Experts warn that if we continue to destroy the environment”

In what way are we destroying the environment? By adding CO2 to the atmosphere? I wish I knew if that was what they were referring to, and then I could start to ridicule the idea. That would seem to be the context, so let me add that CO2 is not a pollutant and will not destroy the environment.

Anyone who thinks so is ignorant of the facts.

I tried to look up the actual course at Columbia to see what the modules were like and how much hard science and engineering is involved along with politics and economics. I think that this might be the course :
https://sipa.columbia.edu/
SIPA International Affairs / Sustainable Development

INAF U4729 Alternative energy resouces
INAF U4733 Environmental policy practicum
INAF U4735 Environmental science for decision makers
SDEV U6240 Environmental science for sustainable development
(the spelling or typing errors in the above were on the original web page , not added by me- for once).
I wonder how deeply INAFU4735 and SDEVU6240 go into the basic physics and chemistry of the atmosphere as distinct from statistical analysis of accepted data from Govt sources.

What would be interesting to see is tests from any of the “technical” coursed required for this degree. Basic level physics, math, chemistry and engineering courses usually appear impenetrable to those who haven’t learned a bit. I’d suspect these courses, if they have class tests, probably call for argument, regurgitation and speculation. Maybe my speculation is off here, but I’d be glad to be proved wrong.

The question of science course accreditation in “environmental science” is a very important area that should be explored. First it was watered down education courses, not all but too many and some have been trying to improve, then it was non-major science courses because it was too difficult for education majors (actual dean of education comment), and some science departments (how many?) went research crazy and started teaching mostly for MDs and PhDs, the former not so new, which gave non-major incentives to dumb down more.

Of course, other things were happening also, Environmental Science books became popular, check out Miller’s Living in the Environment where he admitted becoming indoctrinated (1966). After a seminar he said in his introduction “After 6 months of study I was convinced of the seriousness of the problem.” To his credit there is a lot of information in his book that could be used in a decent course and the 1960s did have lots of real pollution but there were available non-advocacy sources. But the theme is Part I “Humans and Nature:..1 Environmental Problems and their causes.” And of course “sustainability” as if it was a new discovery. Anyone working within “environmental science” needs a non-political background in biology, geology, physics and chemistry before this. Look at the (choose adjective?) expansion tree in university departments, courses, and degrees.

Along with this we had even better trained scientists longing for making policy and a plethora of pessimism. And political exploitation.

So the COVID-19 problem in New York came from Europe because travellers from China were restricted by Trump but not those from Milan. New York’s problem had nothing to do with placing sick patients in old folks homes by order of the Governor. And the disease in Milan came from ?? but not the hundreds of Chinese that fly to and from the city daily because Milan is the center of the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative for Europe.

So it’s all Trump’s fault. Got it.

“So it’s all Trump’s fault. Got it.”

I heard today about a new study put out by Columbia University that claims that Trump delayed shutting down travel from China for two weeks longer than he should have, which ended up costing 50,000 American lives.

Well, let’s review:

President Trump shut down travel from China on Jan. 31, 2020. Two weeks prior to that, when the study says Trump should have stopped China traffic, it was the WHO and China who announced on Jan. 14, 2020, that the Wuhan virus was not capable of being transmitted human to human. So Columbia seems to think that Trump should have stopped all traffic from China even though the authorities there were saying there was no infectious disease in China. What did Columbia know that noone else knew?

More partisan, political BS from the Left. I think Trump put out a tweet this morning slamming the study as being political. That’s the state of (political) science at our universities today. It’s all political.
