Greta Thunberg Says She And Her Father Likely Had The Coronavirus

From The Daily Caller

Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg says it is “extremely likely” that she and her father contracted the coronavirus, the New York Times reported Tuesday.

Thunberg and her father, Svante, stayed in a separate apartment away from her sister and mother, who are located in Stockholm, in an effort to not infect them if the two carried the highly contagious virus, the New York Times reported. She said she felt “tired, had shivers, a sore throat and coughed,” while her father’s symptoms were far worse, she explained in her Instagram post.

The last two weeks I’ve stayed inside. When I returned from my trip around Central Europe I isolated myself (in a borrowed apartment away from my mother and sister) since the number of cases of COVID-19 (in Germany for instance) were similar to Italy in the beginning. Around ten days ago I started feeling some symptoms, exactly the same time as my father – who traveled with me from Brussels. I was feeling tired, had shivers, a sore throat and coughed. My dad experienced the same symptoms, but much more intense and with a fever. In Sweden you can not test yourself for COVID-19 unless you’re in need of emergent medical treatment. Everyone feeling ill are told to stay at home and isolate themselves. I have therefore not been tested for COVID-19, but it’s extremely likely that I’ve had it, given the combined symptoms and circumstances. Now I’ve basically recovered, but – AND THIS IS THE BOTTOM LINE: I almost didn’t feel ill. My last cold was much worse than this! Had it not been for someone else having the virus simultainously I might not even have suspected anything. Then I would just have thought I was feeling unusually tired with a bit of a cough. And this it what makes it so much more dangerous. Many (especially young people) might not notice any symptoms at all, or very mild symptoms. Then they don’t know they have the virus and can pass it on to people in risk groups. We who don’t belong to a risk group have an enormous responsibility, our actions can be the difference between life and death for many others. Please keep that in mind, follow the advice from experts and your local authorities and #StayAtHome to slow the spread of the virus. And remember to always take care of each other and help those in need. #COVID #flattenthecurve

Thunberg and her father have yet to be tested for the virus because Sweden only offers coronavirus tests to those in need of urgent medical care, she explains in her Instagram post. “I have therefore not been tested for COVID-19, but it’s extremely likely that I’ve had it, given the combined symptoms and circumstances.” (RELATED:INTERACTIVE: This Map Shows How Many Have Died From COVID-19 In Each State)

She explains that she has “basically recovered” and urges everyone to stay at home. “Many (especially young people) might not notice any symptoms at all, or very mild symptoms,” the post said. “We who don’t belong to a risk group have an enormous responsibility, our actions can be the difference between life and death for many others… Please keep in mind, follow the advice from experts and your local authorities and #StayAtHome to slow the spread of the virus.”

COVID-19 is like a Red Badge of Courage for people like her. You gain more virtue points.

“The Red Badge of Courage is a war novel by American author Stephen Crane. Taking place during the American Civil War, the story is about a young private of the Union Army, Henry Fleming, who flees from the field of battle. Overcome with shame, he longs for a wound, a “red badge of courage,” to counteract his cowardice. When his regiment once again faces the enemy, Henry acts as standard-bearer, who carries a flag.

The author of Red Badge of Courage (published 1894), Stephen Crane poignantly wrote in a letter to a friend, “”You can tell nothing… unless you are in that condition yourself…” .

We see Greta and her handlers understand that we are living though this COVID-19 epidemic point in history and they do not want have “this condition” pass them by and miss and opportunity get another Scout badge on their label to wear for everyone to see, a “badge of Courage” to talk about as if gaining some wisdom by it.

Exactly, that’s why so many Hollywood celebs are claiming to be Caronavirus positive. Its trendy and keeps their Instagram followers generating revenue for them.

Caronavirus is the 2nd most common cold virus, next to Rhinovirus. Testing positive for Caronavirus is about as unusual as seeing clouds on a rainy day.

8,000 of those who have been tested. Quite possibly 80,000 or more actually have it.

Iceland did some random testing and found about 1% of the couple of thousand people they tested had it, at a time when the official figures were more like 0.1% of the population. And that’s only people with active infections; they were testing for the virus, not antibodies.

So we still have little idea of how many people have had it and how many people catch it and have minor symptoms.

What they should be doing every year for the flu season is to be careful of the infirm elderly and those with compromised immune systems. Why are they panicking over about 20,000 dead worldwide while the “flu” salad of viruses takes averages 650,000 worldwide every year. This is ridiculous. They are panicking over the croutons on the salad. Without the unproven tests they are using so freely only where available, the effects of this virus would not even be a blip in the flu season statistics. It is the presence of such viruses as this each year that probably determine which years will be bad years or not. The flu vaccines only target one class of “flu” viruses

They are worrying about a burning match while the house burns down.

Changing the category changes the rules it will be treated under. As a HCID it is treated in specialised centres. After re-classification it is treated anywhere. It doesn’t matter otherwise because corona is subject to special rules anyway.

Dr Hugh Montgomery from University College London said virus ‘very infectious’.
One person could infect 59,000 others with COVID-19 compared to 14 with flu.

Greta would be well advised to keep quiet about how many people she & her father could have infected during their railway jaunt around Europe & journey back to Sweden. How fortunate to have access to a borrowed apartment! Like all totalitarianists, one rule for the hypocritical elites & one for the despicables.

It was, just Google Dr. Hugh Montgomery. 59,000 is just 3 raised to the tenth. He’s using 10 iterations of people passing on an infection. 1.4^10 = 14. So he’s comparing R0 = 1.4 for flu to R0 = 3 Covid-19. He could have used 4 and gotten to one person infecting 1,000,000. The choice of 10 iterations is also entirely arbitrary. Of course it’s mathematical non-sense as the first person only infects 1.4 people (don’t know how you infect 40% of a person) or 3 people. By Montgomery’s logic after 20 iterations, one person could infect 3.5 billion.

Rick
That is why a logistic curve should be used instead of an exponential. As the available potential people to infect declines, from dying or the development of antibodies, the ability of an infected individual to infect others declines. That is, the effective R0 declines as more and more people become infected. Most of the panic seems to be based on a worst-case scenario that is unlikely — like an RCP 8.5!

Mike

Well using that logic, the original person that caught this disease will infect millions. So one person could infect millions.

Whenever someone says “could” you should always — ALWAYS — interpret that as “will not”.

‘If you elect this guy, you could lose your health insurance.’ (And when it does not happen, ‘I never said it would happen, I only said it could.’)
‘One person could infect 59,000 others.’ (And when it does not happen, ‘I never said it would happen, I only said it could.’)
‘Sea levels could rise by 3 meters by 2100.’ (And when it does not happen, ‘I never said it would happen, I only said it could.’)

Could. The great weasel word. With it you can imply something while not actually claim something. A whole lot of things could happen, but common sense tells us it almost certainly will not happen.

There’s lots of other things going around that can cause the same symptoms. One of my daughter’s coworkers had similar symptoms, and the doctor diagnosed her with strep throat. And back in January, my daughter was very sick with a high fever and puking for about 3 days — and she gave it to me (bless her heart). Prince Charles has Covid 19. Duke of Edinburgh said when he died he wanted to come back as a virus to wipe out humanity. Attenborough said “humans are a plague for planet”. Maybe now Duke will recant his human hating obsession as Charles progresses from a human virus potentially deadly to everything to a human with a possibly death threatening virus which hopefully might make him more appreciative of those his father likes to hate. The people who pay tax to support his luxury lifestyle. He like Attenborough whinge 24/7 about population but have enjoyed the benefits of growth driven economies to fund their extravagant world wide travel which they refer to as obligations which they choose to decline when they know full well that they could if they really believed their own doom laden rhetoric.

Funny how the climate realists tweet image of Greta labelled “and then I got the virus”, shows Greta touching her face 😂

Yes that’s a good “how to” for catching the virus.

This model is already wrong. The virus has up to 14 days incubation period where you are infectious during that time. So if you do the 100% compliance route the chart will continue to rise for another 14 days minimum.

Refer to the Italian Experience for a clear demonstration of this. They went into quarantine with only 1,500 cases, now they have 74,000 cases and it’s only just starting to level off.

We may be missing the only-slightly-masked subtle message being delivered here–the ‘we the young must save the planet’ message.

“We who don’t belong to a risk group have an enormous responsibility, our actions can be the difference between life and death for many others… ”

Heard anything like that from ‘Greta’ before?

Hope that Greta and her Dad are well. I have also self isolated for the past week as I have some symptoms consistent with COVID 19. I get these about once a year and was over due for something. Allergies get worse when the weather fluctuates between warm and cold as it does at this time of the year here. That creates a comfortable environment for corona, rhino, and other viruses. We live in a rural area with few reported cases so that’s a good thing.

Greta and her parents have proven incredibly adept at self advertisement. Spreading false information being a favorite tactic deployed many times in the recent past. Should not surprise anyone that a critical approach is taken to any information coming from such a source. You can dial up the outrage volume but it doesn’t change the facts. Bad information is the life blood of the radical environmentalists. That has been proven many, many times.

March 25, 2020 8:09 am

So … it’s just super-oldies on death’s door who get coronavirus??

Yes, unfortunately some people see “low risk” and think “no risk”. the Wuhan virus can kill, regardless of your age. The fact that the older your are or if you have other underlying conditions the higher the risk, does not negate that there is still risk, low though it may be, for the young without other underlying conditions.

No-one ever said that. But the median age of deaths in Italy is over 80 and around 90% of them have other health issues that might have killed them soon anyway.

The dinosaur media are focusing on every rare case where a young person dies and using it to spread panic and sell advertising.

I do think anyone said exactly what you said.

I think we would especially agree that a young person dying of the disease is particularly sad. Fortunately, the chance of that happening is quite small. It’s not zero, however.

At least she is consistent. She is positive she had the virus, even without any actual hard evidence and no effort to find the hard evidence.
All very consistent with the cAGW argument- warmists in general are absolutely certain that the 3% of CO2 increase that is from human activity is the dominant cause of catastrophic global warming/ “climate change.” Like Greta, they are so convinced of their own argument that they won’t look for the evidence – it is true because they say so-no evidence required.
You must believe.

There was a slight error in this story’s headline. Here is the correction:
Greta Thunberg Says She And Her Father Likely Had The Socialist Crony Virus
Symptomatically, the Socialist Crony Virus makes uneducated adolescents convinced they have divine oracular inspiration on delusional topics. When their irrational oral flatulence is challenged, they express their virtue signalling divinity with imperious yet baseless accusations of “You have stolen my childhood! How Dare You!!!” The Socialist Crony Virus is highly contagious amongst the uneducated, gullible, easily impressionable, and those seeking to redistribute other peoples wealth to themselves rather than work for their own estate. There is no known vaccine of reliable efficacy for the Socialist Crony Virus to date.

March 25, 2020 9:21 am

The coronavirus is the celebrity virus. Celebrities love getting it so that they can get oodles of media attention, the attention that they are so addicted to. They need to simply be ignored. We will then see how rapidly the number of celebrities with the virus will plummet. 😉

Yep, I’ve seen clips of the pathetic creatures sat at home in tears, hoping that we’ll all make it through somehow…it’s like the AIDS thing- that was terrible for anyone who had it, but it was often avoidable unless you were a vacuous celebrity who believed themselves to be above the same rules as mere mortals. They then went on a massive crusade, demanding huge resources be diverted into the fight against AIDS as it was THE worst thing that had ever happened anywhere to anyone. Meanwhile, cancer sufferers who had done nothing to deserve their fate could go hang…just imagine how much further cancer research could have come if it’d had the same publicity and backing!

Having worked extensively in infectious diseases, Dr Spencer’s past work experience saw him contract the deadly Ebola virus. In 2015, after treating patients in West Africa, he was diagnosed and treated in New York City for the viral hemorrhagic fever, which on average kills 50 percent of those infected.

Despite having survived such a deadly illness, Dr Spencer states that he’s worried about COVID-19 and is making a direct plea to anyone who is still under the impression that it’s tantamount to “just another” strain of flu to take physical distancing seriously.

So Influenza viruses, rhinoviruses, and adenoviruses decided to take the winter off because SARS-CoV2/COVID-19 was in town???

When I used to deploy in the USAF when I was on active duty, I would invariably get a head cold if I stayed in a new location for more than a few days. Both times in Italy, 1995 and 1999, I got head colds while there that made me see the flight surgeon and go DNIF for a few days. Same thing in Okinawa in 1992. The only time I had a major deployment and not get a cold was after 9/11 in 2001/2002, in was at the Combined AirOps Center and never left the confines of the base because of security concerns. New areas and communities for travelers means different “versions” of microbes your immune system hasn’t yet seen, so a cold or flu was more likely.

March 25, 2020 11:58 am

In Alberta, 1% of tests are coming back positive. That tells me that 99% of people with flu like symptomes do not have Corona. All these people that “are sure” or “extremely likely” they had Corona, there is about a 99% chance they are wrong.

March 25, 2020 12:20 pm

That addendum is pretty silly. She clearly said that she started feeling ill 10 days before and that she’s recovered.

No way to know whether she had it or not but given her global travels and exposure to huge groups it’s certainly possible. And it’s possible she infected many others too. We’ll probably never know.

Because she and her father traveled so extensively recently, they absolutely should be tested so authorities can then trace back and at least try to warn people, that is the procedure. The Swedes are screwing up

Greta must realise her star is fading. I haven’t heard her mentioned on the BBC for AGES. I’m watching CO2 for a fall to a ‘safe’ level of 350ppm as she would wish as a result of Coronavirus de-industrialisation. If it doesn’t happen goodbye to AGW

Anything less than that and she threatens the future of anyone who has not contraacted Covid19.

We need to check how many people she spread the disease in the UK. She recently attended a big rally in Bristol, UK. That time many people raised the important issue of COVID-19 and asked to stop that event but it still went on. She and the organiser did not pay any heed. I am sure numerous people got infected from that single mass rally, including her. She and the organiser need to be punished for such an immoral act.
