Now that the #Coronvirus has taken hold and schools are closing globally (along with everything else) Josh imagines that Greta’s minions who are stuck at home with parents, might be saying this right about now:
Perhaps some of those parents should be cutting off the Internet, heat & light so that their kids get a better idea of what Greta’s low-carbon utopia might be like.
…and make them walk to school, the store, church… everywhere they go!
And teach them how to make their own bread, cheese, cream, butter, pasta…the list goes on and on!
Growing a big vegetable garden would be a grest experience, too, along with some chickens for eggs and the occasional Sunday dinner of fried chicken!
Raising a milk cow is obviously a necessity, too!
Ah, what a bold new world that would be!
The making is less the problem once you have what you need 😀
And that’s more the problem., cream and butter with milk from supermarket won’t run 😀
So the cow is obligatory, better more than one 😀
Without a bull you won’t get any of that.
I’ll help if I can.
James Bull
An old chestnut from times past before Artificial Insemenation was developed:
Young girl leading a cow down the road to be serviced by a neighbour’s bull.
Stopped by the parish spinster who asked her what she was doing.
YG Taking the cow to be serviced by the bull
PS Couldn’t your father do that?
YG. No Miss, it has to be the bull.
The new milk producer 😃
No, but it’s talked about milk giving cows, And yes, you need new cows the one or the other day and yes, I know the milk giving conditions 😃
Cleaning the stalls, the cows and the chicken dung is also a part of it.
Don’t forget to shovel up the manure while you’re at it. We need the fertilizer now that Haber-Bosch is out of business.
You know the song,
Imagine there’s no heaven
Imagine there’s no countries
Imagine all the people living life in peace
Imagine no possessions
Imagine there’s no toilet paper,
imagine there’s no ventilators,
imagine there’s no jobs, no money,
no stores, no food.
Imagine all the people living day by day,
singing Imagine,
without internet, electricity, and light bulbs,
Imagine what it would be like,
without clean running water,
sitting round the fire,
just like the good old days.
What about the fish? Where will they learn how to swim without schools?
OMG!!!! The fish’ll have to be home schooled, Craig. If they spend too much time at home though, they’ll cry, causing sea levels to rise. Oh no.
Regards,
Bob
A fish swam into a concrete wall…
Dam
Thanks, Bryan A. That made me laugh. And after the type of work I did today and the amount of it, I needed a good laugh.
Thanks again,
Bob
The fish found a way through the wall…..Grate
The fish avoided the dam altogether. According to Sinatra, he did it fishway.
George W Bush, the most funny hilarious guy… really really good one.
Man and fish should find a way to coexist… the best ever … 🙂
cheers
Many fish school themselves.
Perhaps they could help us scale up the Coronavirus response?
… and FINish this pundemic!
Nice pun.
No reason to worry about warmistas. The voices in their heads will keep them company during social isolation.

Good call Bob, now “Grumbling Greta” has a real ‘emergency’ to contemplate….absolutely nothing to do with her fallacy of her precious Climate change emergency….
Don’t make fun of Greta. She was a trendsetter, dropping out of school before it was required.
Never mind the kids. My wife is starting to pine for a school restart. So far not too bad, but putting the 10-year old and 14-year old at the kitchen table to do their remote learning is starting to get stressful.
And some folks think teachers are overpaid.
Some are overpaid, some are underpaid, that is why they have unions so that the drek gets the same pay as the outstanding ones
In the UK, Aus and NZ, teachers receive 12 months pay for doing 9 months work.
Patrick, you certainly have no idea.
Of course not. I know many teachers.
They attend a lot, working is another thing. They make a big deal out of what people in industry take for granted. There job has its moments like any other.
Having worked as a teacher for 39 years I am no longer surprised by the ignorance which many people display when it comes to the occupation of teaching.
Come on teaching is easy. What’s awful is the brats you get to teach these days. Rather be a lion tamer. More intelligent and a lot more pleasant.
I play squash with several teachers (K to 12) and they often say they cannot play late in the evening as they have to mark some papers. I think they earn whatever they are paid.
Lots of respect for teachers as I would not like to put up with handling children all day, especially with the way they are performing wrt CAGW and Greta’s antics.
“especially with the way they are performing wrt CAGW and Greta’s antics.”
Teachers are largely to blame for that.
The key point is you play squash with good teachers. The problem is there are probably equal numbers of bad teachers who teach the same grade year on year and simply recycle the same worksheets each year. Marking involves placing a stencil cutout over the multiple choice test. I have a couple of teachers as friends and a couple of each group.
One of my mothers friends must be now late 60’s and she did her country stint straight after grad to get her permanency. She use transfer points to come back to the city and has now been at the same school for over 40 years teaching the same year 🙂
Wrong! Teachers get paid for a contract year and, when I taught, chose to take their pay over 10 months or over 12 months. Most chose to take the payments over 12 months, but they still were paid for a contracted school year. On those off times, most teachers attend school; at least I did.
That was you. Unless my teacher friends were lying, that’s what they told me. It seemed to fit in with their lifestyle as they were on holiday for most of the 3 months, skiing was popular with one primary school teacher friend of mine. I certainly could not afford it in both money and time.
It depends where you teach. After c. 40 years teaching college music, I took a buyout and spent 18 months looking for work, ending up at a proprietary business school as a Director of Ed (sort of dean) with occasional teaching duties. Not knowing computers or medicine, I ended up teaching English–grammar, literature, even a dollop of research–and loving it. We taught in mods (=modules) of five weeks, and for several mods I had the same English teaching assignment. Did I teach the same lit selections every time? No–we had a huge textbook (one of the Norton series), so I chose new pieces every time, both to escape tedium and to explore new lit in a field new to me. It worked very well, and no one from the new classes could prepare for exams by looking at my old ones. After that job ran out on me, I ended up at a high school 30 miles from home, where I was the high school English teacher, where I got to choose the literature component of the course. I taught (spread over four years, until I retired) Jane Eyre, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Master of Ballantrae, Hamlet, Macbeth, Julius Caesar, A Doll’s House, Sense and Sensibility, and numerous poems from medieval to modern times. It was a blast, and I still correspond (Facebook) with some of the students I taught 10-14 years ago, many of whom are married, with children. I loved teaching; the money from a small Christian school, was slight, but enough. Not sure what I would have done with Greta; I didn’t have fanatics in my classes, as far as I know.
Goodness Patrick, I had no idea what a slacker my wife is. Almost eleven months a year, six nine to ten hour days a week (Including marking). Not including preparation for and attending parent teacher evenings and similar out of classroom activities. Compiling lesson plans, administrative details, ministry inspections and ‘pastoral’ duties and that’s without trying to instill simple basic life skills to children whose parents are far too often little better than sperm and egg donors.
/sarc
N.B. You can badmouth lazy and feckless individuals as much as you like, but please do not include in their number the ones who really do try to make a difference.
“Children should be seen, but not heard.”
Some will be realising why this was historically considered a Good Thing.
Today’s (Monday) UK Covid-19 update.
http://www.vukcevic.co.uk/UK-COVID-19.htm
The log curves are departing from the strait lines which is a good news, as far as it goes, but we are very long way from topping up.
Vuk
I personally feel this is a hysterical over reaction. It will be intersting to watch your charts as deaths, surely the only criteris as cases are so vague, dont seem to be accelerating.
If the public realised there were an average of 17000 flu deaths each year they would freak out. If they knew that out of 600000 annual uk deaths the govt classify some 148000 as avoidable
Tonyb
Hi Tony
I don’t think the extent of current numbers is a particular problem; the concern is where the numbers are heading. If immunity does realise, and it last longer than just for one season it will be ok. Alternatively, we have a big problem next autumn and winter when the flu + CV deaths combined will overwhelm the NHS at the expense of all other illnesses.
The UK economy which is 70% services orientated may be affected more than countries with a stronger manufacturing base. Subsidies and financial support announced in the recent days will debase currency since a weak economy tax revenues might not be able to be repay the debt and at the same time maintain reasonable standard of living.
I hear that president Trump may take Chinese path, and if not give full priority at least keep in balance requirements of economy and the nation’s health.
Chinese (data may not reflect true state) have gone even further and are pursuing the ‘heard immunity’, as it was considered in the UK earlier last week where the preference is given to the industrial activity,
“…. don’t seem to be accelerating.”
There are number of ways you could look at it, the daily death percentage increase
91% 67% 57% 29% 46% 38% 23% 32% 21% 19% hopefully will soon turn negative, as it appears it may have done in Italy in the last couple of days..
School’s out…
Forever
@copy; A Cooper
Yup, first thing that came to mind. And if you want an early prediction of our present cultural decline, here are A Cooper’s prescient lyrics describing his own generation in his song “Generation Landslide” (1974):
**********
Please clean your plate, dear, The lord above can see ya
Don’t you know people are starving in Korea?
Alcohol and razorblades and poison and needles
Kindergarten people, they used ’em they need ’em
The over- indulgent — machines were their children
There wasn’t a way down on earth here to cool ’em
‘Cause they looked just like humans at Kresge’s and Woolworth
But decadent brains were at work to destroy
Brats in battalions were ruling the street scene
Generation Landslide closed the gap between ’em
And I laugh to myself at the men and the ladies
Who never conceived of us billion dollar babies
Militant mothers, hiding in the basement
Using pots and pans as their shields and their helmets
Molotov milk-bottles heaved from pink high-chairs
While mothers-lib burned birth certificate papers
Dad gets allowance from his sonny the dealer
Who’s pubic to the world, but involved in high finance
Sissy’s out ’til five doing banker’s son’s hours
But she owns a Maserati, that’s a gift from his father
Stopped at full speed at one hundred miles per hour
The Colgate invisible shield finally got ’em
And I laugh to myself at the men and the ladies
Who never conceived of us billion dollar babies

Saint Greta probably has a smart phone, so she doesn’t have to be.
Yee-double-ouch, gringo! 😀
Or at least her handlers/father has one.
Probably time she looked up a curve with a tipping point characteristic like corona virus infection rates to see climate change as man made is a total fraud in claiming it has one.
I find it unsavoury that WUWT is using a serious situation to make an unrelated political point
Likewise, that climate alarmists should stoop to similar tricks
We need to be above all that IMO
M
I feelz your pain.
Concern troll much?
Obviously I see nothing unsavoury about Josh’s humour.
Care to document your “concern” a little better?
Might you be taking yourself just a little bit too seriously?
We just want the neurotic to have a panic attack!
It’s a point related to the purpose of this blog, so what’s your point?
Also, there’s a huge difference between covid-19 and climate change caused by CO2 emissions. One is real, the other is imaginary yet both result in the same type of complex insanity.
Sorry but you might want to mention that to the democrats.
Best you learn to laugh at yourself, otherwise others will do it for you.
Yes, we all find this treatment of a child with mental issues, very distasteful.
The AGW cultists should stop setting her up as a target.
THEY have put her in the limelight.
It is cruel, depraved and inhuman.
Stand above the fray, get cut off at the knees.
The best offense is … a strong statement of racial inequity; the second best might be taking offense based on some perceived sexist slant.
If you are going to be offended for the sake of being offended at least go for the gold and tie it into some type of racist or sexist complaint.
I am so tired of poor St. Greta.
Can we just stick a fork in it and consider it done?
Save for slow news days…
In Australia, each flu season, the hospitals come close to collapse as nurses (mainly mothers) stay away to care for sick kids. It does not help that progressive Governments only give casual contracts, that they can and do walk out on in a flash.
Most schools are not closed yet. When they do (the Unions and Progressives are pushing hard), watch the hospitals here fall over like dominoes.
Who will care for the teachers when it’s there turn to get sick? Watch the kids roaming the streets, in groups, unsupervised, just like school holidays.
Go ahead. Close the schools. Watch the virus spread faster.
I work for a company that made working from home mandatory here in Sydney last week. So with parents and kids at home, all day, on team calls I hear the same thing “How can I entertain kids to keep them away from me and my work?” almost every day. Things from tablets, both the medication and computer types, to handcuffs are suggested. LOL I haven’t seen roaming gangs of kids yet, I see long long queues at CentreLink Centres (Welfare Depts. in Aus) every morning. There are a lot of people out of work now.
I am, physically, in the office ‘coz I have to do some physical things (I volunteered as my “accommodation” does not lend itself to comfortable and secure working from home conditions on a permanent basis until further notice). The building I work is has been partially locked down in that only access card holders can enter and move about the building.
Say … wouldn’t swimming pools be safe? Free chlorine etc. Kills most things. Maybe why cruise ships had so many young not get it…all that pooltime
Here in the UK, all assemblies of more than two (yes – TWO) people are now forbidden…
Kinda rains on Extinction Rebellion’s parade, wouldn’t you say..?
Does a family of 4 have to eliminate someone?
Time to adopt a green, ideally extinction rebellion type green
Time to adopt a green, ideally an extinction rebellion type green
Greta has announced she and her father have covid-19 and are in jsolation. they had been travelling around Europe on trains. Sometimes there is good news.
Apparently she has recovered (if she was in reality infected – she was never tested)
https://ktul.com/news/coronavirus/climate-activist-greta-thunberg-says-shes-recovered
Apparently, Saint Greta ‘may have had the coronavirus’….
Hands up anyone getting the distinct impression she’ll use any avenue to keep her name in the media….
