German Greens: Use Climate Emergency Declarations to Jail Deniers

http://monopoly.wikia.com/wiki/Go_to_Jail_(card)

Guest essay by Eric Worrall

h/t NoTricksZone, William Astley; A Solar Energy publication in Germany has demanded that politicians use climate emergency declarations as a justification to punish climate “saboteurs”, people who undermine climate action by trivialising the emergency with their climate denial.

From Google Translate;

Downplaying the climate catastrophe endangers human survival – do we have to accept that?

Why the trivialized must not hide behind the fundamental right of freedom of expression

Misleading alleged “studies” or scandal news are still spreading worldwide, the purpose of which is to sow doubts about scientifically proven warnings from climate science. For example, it has been claimed that climate scientists are exaggerating the extent and risks of global warming – in order to secure their jobs and receive more research funding. The aim of such misleading contributions is to continue fossil energy generation and economic activity for as long as possible. The Background section in more detail below .

The damage these fake messages do is immeasurable because their “camouflage” is perfect. Even readers with a good basic knowledge of the natural sciences cannot recognize the untrustworthiness of these cleverly prepared fake messages and consider them to be serious contributions to the discussion on a still undecided topic. So they prefer to wait for a final clarification. It is precisely this waiting that delays the implementation of vital climate protection measures.

One of the latest climate science studies at https://www.pnas.org/content/115/33/8252 now foresees the demise of mankind due to global overheating, if the global economic climate gas emissions are not ended within the next 10 years and active return of greenhouse gases is also introduced worldwide using technical methods. But this study painstakingly avoids any wording that could lead to panic.

At the suggestion of the fridays for future demonstrators, Constance was the first German city to call the “climate emergency ” – a rather symbolic act – but it shows what would be needed . Mayor Burchardt said that from now on all decisions pending in the town council must be assessed in terms of climate protection. At the same time, he called on the federal government to improve the legal framework for climate protection measures.

It is important, not only in Constance, but everywhere in Germany (everyone should first come to their front door) and finally worldwide, to avert the danger to the best of their knowledge and belief. In the event of a climate catastrophe, the natural sciences provide the best knowledge, but not the trivialists. What the trivialists do can be called sabotage. And sabotage of emergency measures should be punished.

No change to the Basic Law is necessary, just a further provision in the “general laws” – here in the Criminal Code – something like this:
“Anyone who trivializes or prevents the climate catastrophe defense against the climate catastrophe according to the Paris Climate Agreement and its follow-up agreements, denies or prevents the climate catastrophe, will be fined up to 300 daily rates. In the event of a repeat sentence, the sentence is imprisonment .

Given all the jingoistic green talk of WW2 style mobilisations to address the climate crisis, I guess it was only a matter of time until someone suggested imprisonment for people who sabotage the war effort with their criticism, including scientists who criticise the work of their alarmist colleagues.

  1. What a bloody fruit loop, there is NO climate emergency. When are these people going to stop reading old and misleading data.

    • Well…amazing how half the world (far left) is reverting to the same tactics, the Nazis Party used during the 1930’s/40’s.

    • It is not only the alarmists who have scary scenarios. What can happen in a world without fossile fuel is extremely scary, and maybe we should paint the picture clearly! Here is one attempt:
I have a dream. It is so cold. I have hardly slept during the night. Even with all the blankets in the house, I haven’t been able to keep warm enough to sleep.

By old habit I try to switch on the light. Of course, there is no light. We are scheduled to have electricity only between 11 and twelve o clock today, and then only 400 w.

What will I use it for today. Internet maybe. No, not really any purpose. Very few use their rasjon of electricity for the internet, so it is almost dead. No discussion forums, no contact with friends or relatives. I think with nostalgia of the time when we could afford the luxury of sending pictures of the grandkids to each other. We could even send something called videos. Now nobody have enough electricity or bandwidth to send videos. I hope the wind will blow today, just a little bit. Then maybe they will give us 2 hours of electricity. The sun is too low in the winter to produce anything from the solar panels.

I go outside to see if I have any food left on the veranda. I find a frozen bread. We cannot use the fridge of course. I am so hungry, think reflexively that I can thaw it in the microwave. Well, that would have been a luxury. Hadn’t used that one for several years. With an hour of electricity pr day, there was no way I was going to use my meagre 400w for the microwave. I will have to go into the wood to hopefully find some branches that are dry enough to make a fire so I can thaw the bread.

Bread is all we have now. No import of fruits or vegetables, and nothing will grow here in the winter. There are no food shops any more. They have nothing to sell since diesel trucks have been outlawed and trains have also stopped since they needed electricity. Nobody can use wind and solar to power the trains. Most of the local windmills have broken down too, and since trains or other transport has stopped because of lack of electricity, they cannot not be repaired. No spare parts can be transported , no technicians can get to the site, no cranes can lift parts. No factories have power enough to produce steel for blades. Same thing with solar panels. I had heard rumors that they were still produced in China, but nobody in my country has the means to transport or maintain them since there is no possibility of transport.

Anyway, there are no technicians anymore. Trying to stay alive, get som food for the family and some firewood takes the whole day for most people. The winters are not really colder, but it still seems like I will not survive. I have not even been able to bury my dead child. The ground is frozen, I will have to wait until spring. Anna died from a simple infection. There were no doctors. They were also searching for firewood to keep warm. Well, she would stay frozen until spring anyway.

Maybe I should eat her like som of the neighbors have done with their own kids. I have actually heard of some others hoping that at least one of the kids would die so the they would have some food for the rest. Some have even got the religious beliefs that it is right to sacrifice one so the others could eat. Anyway, there are no hospitals anymore so most babies die at birth. I you are lucky the mother would die too and then you would have meat for the whole winter…

      • I’d be very tempted to turn the tables on German (and Swedish, and UK) politicians of this stripe by proposing a bill to threaten them with prison if they deny the destructive influence and crime wave that come from letting in millions of alleged refugees from the Middle East. People can’t exactly hug trees if they don’t dare leave home.

  2. I found a nugget of truth in this…

climate scientists are exaggerating the extent and risks of global warming – in order to secure their jobs and receive more research funding.

  3. Well, “SEIG HEIL” to that.

To ze genius einzatsgruppenfuhreres at the “Solar Publication” in question, what a brilliant ideology!!

Und its der Deutschfolk coming up with another brilliant final solution.

    /sarc

And if you think I am going a bit hard just remember such fascist, draconian legislation would just be the first step.

    • “Well, “SEIG HEIL” to that”

Yup. It is disturbing to see some Germans in Deutschland today who have learned absolutely nothing from their country’s Nazi past. Forget the past and repeat its mistakes.

Indeed, what IS their “final solution” to the “problem” of climate skeptics?

  4. It is important, not only in Constance, but everywhere in Germany (everyone should first come to their front door) and finally worldwide, to avert the danger to the best of their knowledge and belief.

I definitely will. I shall do nothing, as per the best d My knowledge and belief. Satisfied?

Not sure about the “front door” bit. Something lost in translation? Perhaps a German expression I’m not aware of?

    • I sense refuseniks marked with a star get issued a towel and soap before being shown the front door so they don’t suspect what’s beyond it and being contextualised.

      • I may never shower again.

        [Knock-knock] “It’s shower time, Mr. H.R.”

“Nahhh… I’m good. Just took a sponge bath. Y’all go along without me.”

It should have been translated “everyone should first sweep in front of his (own) house door”

  5. They are located only 30 mins from where I live.
Might drop by next time I’m in Aachen ans show them the international sign of peace; my middle finger 🙂

    • Ivo,
you must realise that showing your middle finger in Germany is VERBOTEN. and comes with a minimum 500 euro fine !

  6. Like the saying goes – Scratch a Green, get fleas.

Also the other one, Scratch a green and find a totalitarian under the surface.

  7. Also interesting that these poor saps are taking the Paris Agreement as the holy writ of what must not be criticised. They obviously don’t understand what is in it.

And yet, if you actually read the report, it is a quagmire of terrifying scenarios that have no real basis in any actual science, and is completely at odds with the CAGW ™ bible, the IPCC reports (ignoring the Summaries for Policy-makers that are written by politicians). It also calls for full socialist control in order to ‘solve’ the imagined problems, of course!

There are so many speculations, all wrapped in weasel could’s, might’s and may’s, all trying to justify a figure of 2C increase tipping point that is utterly made up. It’s just pulled from someone’s fundament with no proof or physical justification.

In any case, the mantra is 1.5C now, get with the program! (because they now think we won’t reach 2C, because it turns out CO2 is not driving the climate at all…)

    • Sounds a little bit like der ewige Jude (the eternal Jew) argument that purported to explain why all Jews are bad and can’t be changed.

If you wanted to argue that German culture has some deep flaws that cause recurring attraction to utopian abstractions, I might think there is something to that. But a racial/genetic argument is imho dangerous and wrong.

      • The Germans will never change, they have an inbuilt need to believe in systems, and they are born to follow the rules.
I got attacked ( with an umbrella ) by an middle aged hausfrau in Frankfurt for not using a pedestrian crossing. It was chucking it down, there wasn’t a car in sight, and the crossing was about 100 yards away. but hey, Rules are Rules.

  9. I read a thing a while back about Merkel, an ex-Stasi highflyer, who was suggesting that school children should be encouraged to inform on their parents and others who deny global warming….
To whatever sane Germans are out there…somewhere…I do not apologize for posting this very apt look at the German psyche, “if a glove fits you should wear it.” Advice I heard from a German, who was taken aback by my response.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWF8iRCan7I

    • So … everybody should just accept the stereotypes applied to them? That road leads to Auschwitz.

      • Exactly. Especially if the theory is that cultural norms are genetically determined.

I’m sure it’s true that German culture on the whole is more organized, and values order in a way that is not true for many other cultures, but that is learned behavior, transmitted not by genes but by language and culture. Passed down from parents to children by how they are raised, not by their DNA.

        • Most Germans under age 60 today will have been raised in the times when the Nazizeit became the focus of painting the older generation as blackguards ?

Could that be a flaw in your reasoning ? If so, could it indicate some seep seated cultural bias that wont go away ? 🙂

      • Photios January 8, 2020 at 11:00 am

Most Englishmen’s ancestors left Germany in the 440s to 540s –> most Anglo-Saxon ancestors left Germany in the 440s to 540s for nowadays UK.

  10. Perhaps they could have some camps where they could concentrate these people?
They cold be called concentration camps.

    • Well, since the (Eco) Nazis are so “progressive” these days, I’m sure Herr Merkel would be a good candidate. Her resume supports the role, as an ex-Stasi “official,” and who knows, maybe she could even grow an appropriate mustache! The right haircut/dye job and a few temper tantrums, and she might be indistinguishable from the original article!

All kidding aside, I don’t mean to denigrate Germans in general, but the idiots who put this screed out there deserve every bit of ridicule and denigration they get!

  11. Appropriate that this should come from Germany. Perhaps all of us skeptics/deniers should be made to wear a yellow Star of David (or should that be a green star). Perhaps get a tattooed number for identification? Oh, and wasn’t Hitler a militant vegetarian, as well?

    • “Oh, and wasn’t Hitler a militant vegetarian, as well?”

Correct, and he loved animals more than people, they say.
How is it with Greens these days: “Third Rock From the Sun, nature and animals before common people.”

      • Romans 1:25 “… and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator… ”

The surrounding passages provide a vivid descriptions of the modern day culture.

        • “and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator”

Maybe their bible had a typo. You know, like Faith, Hop, and Charity.

          H/T Arnold Rimmer.

          • Well, I’m non-british. 🙂

Always loved British humor, ever since discovering Monty Python on a PBS station in the early 70s. Could never get a good picture with the old rabbit ears.

    • Dennis January 7, 2020 at 11:27 pm

Appropriate that this should come from Germany. Perhaps all of us skeptics/deniers should be made to wear a yellow Star of David (or should that be a green star) –

No. That should be a (black/red/yellow (golden)) (right populist) star.

  12. People who have the facts on their side don’t need to resort to such methods. The reason that these people are calling for “deniers” to be imprisoned is because they are unable to refute their arguments. When I say that so called climate science has been predicting disasters for thirty years, non of which have occurred, all they need to do is name one.

    • Which could lead to an interesting trial as the ‘evidence’ of the climate emergency is put to the test. The alarmists have always – apart from Thin-skinned Mann – kept away from the courts unless they are exposed. The Exxon Knew case was about what ‘secret’ information they had and not whether global warming was true.

  13. Appropriate that this should come from Germany. Perhaps all of us skeptics/deniers should be made to wear a yellow Star of David (or should that be a green star). Perhaps get a tattooed number for identification? Oh, and wasn’t Hitler a militant vegetarian, as well?

Yes he was, and an environmentalist, he also believed in the power of wind and electric cars. The main different between Hitler and the current lot of socialists is that Hitler loved his country…the current lot hate theirs and what all this bullshit is about, is destroying their own country.

  14. The NAZIs are back in the form of greens. We have a fight on our hands, people. As in the 30s, the Nazis are being supported by the MSM and that was the final kick start to the WWII

  15. As the original is in German one kan spot an anomaly at the end. What’s missing is ‘Sieg Heil’.

  16. It’s Germany, they just need to pass an Ermächtigungsgesetz…. they’ve had practice…

  17. Wolf von Fabeck, the author who lived and worked in West Germany moved to the former German Democratic Republic (DDR) to the city of Magdeburg and clearly was charmed by the totalitarian principles of the DDR regime. He is a mechanical engineer and holds no political office. Extreme left thinking is nothing new or exceptional in Germany, one should not pay too much attention.

    • Yes. Didn’t you know? The Thought Police is required to keep the Green Commandments, and to keep the rabble in line.

  18. Strange that the study they cite, which they claim “now foresees the demise of mankind due to global overheating, if the global economic climate gas emissions are not ended within the next 10 years” doesn’t say anything at all about the demise of mankind. It’s “hothouse earth” scenario covers many centuries, and depicts some more difficult conditions to adapt to, but nowhere does it suggest that even this far-fetched future would result in the demise of mankind. Where do they get this from?

    • Proponents of catastrophic global overheating have never explained why Earth never suffered overheating during the Medieval or the Roman Warm Periods, when temperatures were substantially higher than today.

  19. Nothing new here. Germany already imprisons anyone who doubts the veracity of the official version of history.

  20. “Climate scientists are exaggerating the extent and risks of global warming – in order to secure their jobs and receive more research funding.”

Why are not they legally prosecuted when their prediction proves wrong? What would be the cost of emotional damage to the common people due to their unethical behaviour?

    • Seems like Italy would be the place to try that. IIRC, a few years ago they convicted some scientisrs for NOT predicting an earthquake that happened. Perhaps they would be inclined to bring charges against self-proclaimed experts who predict climate disasters that don’t happen.

  21. The villification of unbelievers is a classic characteristic of extreme religious sects. What does that tell you about these people? Remember, religious belief requires no proof…

  22. The “green” movement indeed has rather strong Nazi roots.
A German eugenicist named Haeckel was first to use the word ecologist.
These racial supremacy loons have roots going back to Malthus & Darwin also.
Malthus was the original, 1798, Paul Ehrlich-like overpopulation eejit.
Darwin was so Victorian racist that he wanted to slaughter all the ‘lower orders’ of humanity, blacks & aboriginals along with all the ‘higher orders’ of apes, such as gorillas, chimps & orang-utans.
These are the foundations of the anti-human movement which has hijacked the worthy cause of environmentalism.

Book by nuclear PhD engineer Robert Zubrin shows these roots clearly & makes a very strong case for the safety & cleanliness of nuclear power: Merchants Of Despair.

The time is gone for deriding these fanatics: they are deadly creatures with deadly depopulation agendas.

    • John Doran, “Darwin was so Victorian racist that he wanted to slaughter all the ‘lower orders’ of humanity…

Be careful, John. That’s a standard young-Earth creationist lie. They can’t refute Evolutionary Theory, so instead they smear Darwin.

By the measure of his time, Darwin was no racist.

  23. …the biggest public tv station in germany WDR recently released a song on Faceboock, sung by little girls, no older than 8-9 years, in which the grandmothers were called ‘old environmental sows’ who eat cheap meat every day, go on cruises and run over their grandfather with his walker in an SUV. After a shit storm the director publicly apologized. He tried to explain that this song was meant satirically and should not offend the grandmothers.

  24. Hitler had an extremely influential guide and mentor by the name of Dietrich Eckart. Trained Hitler and introduced him to Rosenberg, and the base of Hitler’s influence was German youth. If you look at videos of his public speeches, the kids are watching him as if he were God. Sound familiar?

I wondered just how long it would be until something like this started up. I guess that makes me a cynic?

Thanks for posting that. Forewarned is forearmed.

    • Yes! And I just posted about Hitler’s little-known fondness for Islam, which is now dominating Europe.. waiting for it to be approved.

[I think we will leave this topic unexplored here at WUWT. It is far enough off topic, and strays into the territory of religious discussion, which is not the point of this site. -mod]

    • He was a great orator, he realised early on he needed a docile audience with a plastic, easily lead and malleable mind. His target audience was youth. They all fell for his propaganda even to the point where they could not tell films of the thousands of marching youths were just a few hundred marching in loops in front of cameras while piles of books burned in the background.

  25. For some decades now, authorship of alarmist climate literature like research papers and membership of green NGOs has had an overabundance of germanic-looking names. Correlation is not causation, but if asked to find a global focus centre for alarmism, I would put Germany top of the list. The deeper question is why this is so. Geoff S

  26. Loonies have dreams. We have to make sure they never get to realize them. These calls for our suppression have occurred in other countries. Not long ago Good Morning Britain had a lawyer on calling for the same. She was very casual about it.

  27. Lots of could, if, potential, likely, might in the scary bit, then their (socialist) solution:

Such action entails stewardship of the entire Earth System—biosphere, climate, and societies—and could include decarbonization of the global economy, enhancement of biosphere carbon sinks, behavioral changes, technological innovations, new governance arrangements, and transformed social values.

  28. PNAS again. Is there a reason we need to keep this open? It seems to be a means to give unreviewed material, presented without supplement, that can’t be falsified official imprimatur.

  29. Odd that the “translation” does not mention the actual author of the declaration :

    Mr. Rockström (Potsdam Institute Director):
The declaration of a “climate emergency” would make it possible to make really big decisions. …such as making things possible that are necessary but have not been considered realistic.“

Mr. Rockström hails from Greta’s homeland, Sweden. Even some from Paris Texas know where Sweden is – Greta was is Time Magazine Person of the Year! Rockström is Swedens Person of the Year 2009 (Focus magazine). He replaced Dr. “John” Schellnhuber, dubbed CBE by the Queen personally in 2004 at the Berlin Embassy.

Just wondering if the EU/UN will declare the Australian bush fires a Reichstagsbrand? After all the Fukoshima tsunami could have reached the Isar KKI nuclear plant in 2011 so the nuclear exit was rushed ahead!

That 1933 Reichstag arson was used to delete the Weimar constitution. The 1948 German Basic Law was written to never again allow such “crisis management” of the Carl Schmidt crown-Jurist stripe so admired by many US Supreme Court Justices.

Since this is a Solar Industry appeal for more money, a bailout, they for sure well know the EU plans for a GND. Quite publicly declared by new Commissioner von der Leyen. Either that or they are clueless.

Would the EU International Criminal Court, a Soros initiative, prosecute anyone opposing the sheer destruciveness of that GND?

Looks like this gambit is a toe in the water for really big decisions….

  30. Like I said. The Germany I knew and loved in the 80’s is dead. Germany, France, and several other EU countries are about to run up against an economic reality called Trump. That reality is already cutting into the sources of revenue that enable their socialism and globalism agendas which climate change is a facilitator of.

Get ready because the real boom is about to be lowered. Phase I about to be done. USMCA about to be done. Deals with S. Korea and Japan done. Europe’s day of trade and economic reckoning is almost certainly next. When it comes and the suckers are pulled from the mouths of the Europeans the wailing and tantrums will be something to see not only from the Europeans but also from the democrats, and Wall Street
    Multinational conglomerate driven never Trumpers.

Already Macron thinks he is threatening the US if it responds to his proposed digital tax. Anyone paying attention knows that the set up for dealing with the Europeans is pretty much the same as it was with the Chinese. They simply do not have a chance because they do not have the weaponry available to stop what is coming. Their economies are far more reliant on the good graces of Uncle Sam than the US economy is on theirs. Those that wish to deny reality will ask: “What does this have to do with climate change?” My answer is EVERYTHING! When revenue drops and more government resources are required to keep their populations appeased by maintaining their socialist benefits then that means less revenue to spend on climate change and everything having to do with it like “renewables”.

    • The situation right now is on a knife-edge – Trump’s avowed plan to bring the troops home is being undermined. See Patrick Lawrence over at Consortium News.
Trump has only one chance – to bring in Putin and Xi Jingping and Modi if possible to make clear to Bolton warhawks who is in charge. A tweet alone will not save the Constitution!

The green-forever-war gameplan is simply unacceptable.

    • And that is Trumps achiles heel – a crash far worse than 2008 is a Democles Sword over our transatlantic heads. All the numbers show it – even a cursory glance at ZH , or Wall Street on Parade,is enough.
Do not be blindsided by the hubris of various China bashers!

China knows full well – see Global Times Jan.5 “U.S. debt problem almost out of control”.
Economic numbers are horrific, and the trade war alone will not solve it without massive growth investment, along the lines of a Manhattan Program for space and fusion.

One good thing is that Trump showed he knew what Glass-Steagall is all about, and that alone is driving any and every effort from the Russiagate hoax to the current Iran crisis to undermine him.

      • I have more faith in Trumps ability to think ahead and plan outside the box than you do. I think it just denies what so far has transpired to believe that team Trump did not have a plan before he made his opening move by taking out Soleimani and some of his supporting actors. If there is anything that we should have learned about Trump, it is that conventional “wisdom” does not apply to this president in any realm, be it political campaigning, trade, economics, or foreign policy.

        • Glass-Steagall is outside the box – That is exactly what I said.
Can Trump put the FED, WallStreet, not to mention the swamp through the cleaners?
The “resistance” is fierce, prepared for the unthinkable.

          Houston, we have a problem….

      • The debt wrt the GDP is lower than at the start of WWII. It is not as unmanageable as you think. I don’t care for the debt, either, but changes have been put in place to correct the problem, given time. The US needs to do what Boris is doing in the UK; examine every govenment program for its effectiveness and value, and get rid of redundancies in government.

        • redundancies in government

          But you repeat yourself…

(brought to you by the Department of Redundancy Department)

        • Good point – FDR’s New Deal brought the US economy back from the Great Depression to a point where it could deal with fascism in 4 years.
That is a direct result of the FDR’s RFC (Reconstruction finance Corp) and Glass-Steagall.
Based on the US Constitution Credit Clause from Alexander Hamilton.

BoJo should immediately look up the Bradbury Pound – see
          https://www.ukcolumn.org/bring-back-the-bradbury
BoJo did mention major infrastructure – he needs this. Without Brussels maybe there is a chance. At least he cannot now blame Brussels, and should point at his old stamping ground – the City of London.

China adopted FDR’s methods – openly stated by the previous Premier. What an irony!

          • “FDR’s New Deal brought the US economy back from the Great Depression to a point where it could deal with fascism in 4 years.”

I think you need some education on business and economics. FDR pulled the world out of a recovery and back into a huge depression. It took the war to get the economy moving again.

    • If “rah” loved Germany in the 1980’s, I lived in France during the late 1980’s, and worked for the French chemical company Rhone-Poulenc. At that time, the three largest chemical manufacturing companies in the world were all German, (even larger than USA’s Dow and Dupont), and in 1995 the pharmaceutical part of Rhone-Poulenc was bought out by Hoechst. West Germany absolutely dominated the chemical manufacturing industry back then, but most of the raw materials come from petroleum. It was West Germany’s dominant economic position in the European Union that enabled it to absorb the formerly communist East Germany in 1990 with minimal disruption.

Fast-forward 30 years or so, and Germany has shut down most of its nuclear power plants and subsidized the development of wind and solar (strange for a country north of the 45th parallel with mostly cloudy weather), while France has retained its nuclear power plants which provide more than 75% of France’s electric power (the radioactive wastes are buried in Germany!), with hydro-electric providing most of the rest. Unless Germany’s disastrous energy policies are reversed soon, Germany will lose its economic dominance of the European Union.

Thanks to the landslide election of the Tories in the UK, it will leave the European Union at the end of this month, and will likely conclude a trade deal with the USA later this year, further strengthening the British economy relative to the European Union, possibly leading to the value of the pound sterling rising against the euro. Thanks to the widespread use of fracking, the USA is now a net exporter of both crude oil and natural gas, willing to sell to anyone willing to buy it, and not dependent on sheiks in the Middle East.

Germany, like most of the European Union (except France) is heavily dependent on natural gas exported from Russia. After the liberation of eastern Europe in the early 1990’s, Russia has recently expanded its domination into Georgia and eastern and southern Ukraine, and may be able to blackmail other countries into submission by threatening to cut off natural gas exports.

The USA can help its allies in western Europe by building liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminals along its east coast, which can be used to ship natural gas across the Atlantic for use in Europe, to reduce Europe’s dependence on Russian natural gas.

Ironically, Germany, the industrial powerhouse that won the so-called Cold War at the end of the 1980’s (with help from Ronald Reagan), if it listens to the green global-warming fascists may start losing the “war on cold” if it doesn’t rebuild its energy infrastructure. Where are the engineers needed to rebuild it? Hopefully not in jail for climate skepticism!

      • The Germany I loved had greens but they weren’t in charge. The greens opposed everything Reagan did but the government would not heed nor put up with their protests threatening Pershing II sites. The Bavarians treated us Americans as wanted guests and not unwanted interlopers. Basic freedoms were not threatened and attacks on Jews extremely rare. Now according to recent polls a plurality of German citizens view the US as a greater threat than Russia or China or N. Korea.

  31. Why are the coldest countries the most worried about the earth getting a degree or two warmer? Sweden? Canada? Germany? Do they hate spring? Revile summer? What is WRONG with these people?

“AAAAHHHHH!!!!!! What if daffodils bloom on April 15th instead of April 18th? What if comely frauleins start wearing short sleeves by the end of May? We’re all gonna die!”

“Where I live, it snowed three times in November last year. All is well.”

“Oh, thank GAWD! Now if only the ground could freeze by November 10 next year, we’d be SAVED!”

  32. More historical revisionism, this time from Iran.

CNN Gives Platform To Spokeswoman For The 1979 US Embassy Hostage-Takers To Push Iran Propaganda
    https://dailycaller.com/2020/01/07/cnn-massoumeh-ebtekar-iran/
    [excerpt]

CNN on Monday conducted a lengthy interview with an Iranian government official who once served as the spokeswoman for a group of students who held 52 American diplomats hostage for more than a year in 1979.

CNN’s Christiane Amanpour did little to push back on Iranian official Massoumeh Ebtekar’s assertions that the U.S. carried out a “terrorist” action by killing Qasem Soleimani, an Iranian general killed in a U.S. airstrike Jan. 2.

Amanpour also failed to acknowledge that Ebtekar was chief spokeswoman for a group of Iranian students who held 52 American diplomats hostage at the U.S. embassy in Iran for 444 days, from 1979 to 1981.

Ebtekar said in an interview in 1979 during the hostage crisis that she would personally be willing to put a gun to one of the hostages’ heads and pull the trigger.

Calgary native Ken Taylor, Canadian Ambassador to Iran, played a role in this drama.

    [excerpt from Britannica]
Ken Taylor, (Kenneth Douglas Taylor), Canadian diplomat (born May 10, 1934, Calgary, Alta.—died Oct. 15, 2015, New York, N.Y.), was Canada’s ambassador to Iran during the hostage crisis in November 1979; he took responsibility for sheltering six American employees of the U.S. embassy after the embassy compound was attacked and taken over by Iranian militants and helped the Americans safely depart from Iran.

I met Ken Taylor at LaGuardia airport during a “taxi strike”, I think circa 1992, and offered him a ride into Manhattan; a really nice guy and a pleasant conversationalist. I don’t recall what we talked about, but it was not the Iran hostage crisis – because I thought he probably got inundated with that subject. As I dropped him off at his place, he offered to pay for the ride, and I declined. “We’ve got this Ken. We’re proud of you.”

I just saw today that Ken passed away in NYC in 2015. Nice guy. RIP Ken. Good job. A Calgary boy.

    Regards, Allan

    • Agreed but it persists. Some Iraqi’s actually loved Saddam and as Lloyd George reportedly said after visiting Germany “the German people love their Fuhrer” Stalin’s funeral apparently left many Soviet citizens feeling lost and confused. The list goes on and on right down to Mao’s portrait overlooking Tiananmen Square today.

We are lucky in being able to envision a better way of life. The road may be long with many disappointments along the way but I believe that we will prevail. Why shouldn’t we. We are right.

  33. Warning: Don’t be caught flat-footed.

This upcoming NH (esp. USA) summer will be hot from clear-sky high insolation, a typical low-TSI low evaporation condition like it’s been in Australia lately, but not as hot as sub-solar Australia.

Prepare for an early all-out warmist propaganda blitzkrieg starting as the summer heat builds.

By the time Sept/Oct rolls around the US drought could be worse, the daytime heat really bad, so just know those times ahead are ripe with opportunities for both sides. They (in the form of Democrats, Rhinos, and the activist sciences) will be out in force with their accusations, GND rhetoric, and anger towards anyone not immediately capitulating to their impetuous demands for Congress to declare a climate emergency.

  34. All the while the ones declaring the climate emergency keep on using fossil fuels every every day.

  35. Posted this before, worth repeating. From a book review in the current American Scientist with “A path to change–How can climate data be turned into widespread action” highlighted on the cover. So far I have not found any climate data in the issue including in a paper with the cover title. Author is in a school of “Civic Science.”

Reviewer (Steven Sloman, Professor in Boston University Department of Cognitive, Linguistic and Psychological Sciences) of a book on “The Misinformation Age” is co-author of book with title—“The Knowledge Illusion: Why we Never Think Alone.” Writes about tribes, talk about tribes in academia!! I saw that in undergraduate school. Scholars knew all about it, along with misinformation.

“First, we have to give up on the idea that we live in a free ‘marketplace of ideas’ that allows only the best to prevail. Information has to be regulated to make sure that it conforms to the facts. Second, human beings are too vulnerable to manipulation by misinformation to be able to sustain a democracy. Democracy may be a moral imperative, but we need institutions that allow us to make decisions based on evidence rather than ignorance.” Throw away minority rights, especially free speech!

  36. “What the trivialists do can be called sabotage. And sabotage of emergency measures should be punished.”

Sabotage….also known as wrecking. Yeah, that’s it, wrecking the great plans of the anointed ones out to improve our lives.

Hmmm….where have I heard that term before? Wreckers of the great plan…the great double five year plan (10 years)? Hmmm….where? And what was done to those “wreckers” of the great twin five year plans?

Oh yeah, now I remember. Stalin had the “wreckers” shot.

  37. Can’t wait to see if this guy gets reelected. Punishing people for not believing is no way to win an argument that is lost.

The fact they are seeking punishment shows not all in Germany are on board. Maybe it’s time to assess the cost.

  38. It proves once more that German Greens are ordinary fascists and their “climate change” doctrine is just plain demagoguery, a pretext for power-grab and dictatorship they seek to establish.

  39. Piling on, I accidentally ran across the following paper yesterday in an unrelated search, it’s by a guy named Trygve Lavik and is titled “Climate change denial, freedom of speech and global justice” ( https://www.researchgate.net/publication/287972534_Climate_change_denial_freedom_of_speech_and_global_justice ), published on December 2015 in the Etikk i praksis – Nordic Journal of Applied Ethics. I quote verbatim from the paper’s first and last three sentences from its abstract:

“In this paper I claim that there are moral reasons for making climate denialism illegal. …. Future generations and people in poor countries are bystanders to the climate debate. If the debate postpones necessary actions, it is the bystanders who must pay the price. I argue that bystanders’ costs outweigh participants’ and audiences’ interests, and that this is an argument for a statutory ban on climate denialism.

    • ““In this paper I claim that there are moral reasons for making climate denialism illegal”

There are not any scientific reasons for doing so.

    • From the Lavik paper—
“Climate denialism is not beneficial because its main goal is to produce doubt, and not truth…….To be in good faith means to be sincere. But how can we know whether someone is sincere or not? We cannot look in to other people’s minds……Human psychology is probably the most important source of climate denialism….The denial industry spends millions of dollars to produce and spread climate scepticism……Conclusion: the denial industry is a reason for inaction on the climate problem. However, the denial industry could not have achieved this without help from the media. …Laws against Holocaust denial do not bring us to an Orwellian nightmare, so there is not much reason to fear that the same will happen if we enact a law against climate denialism. ” Haven’t read the whole paper closely but sounds like a thought crime which he tries to justify. Usual tobacco and consensus arguments.

  40. Right at the start of the article it goes right off the rails… “scientifically proven warnings”

I mean, seriously, who writes this and thinks it has any meaning.

  41. “The damage these fake messages do is immeasurable because their “camouflage” is perfect. Even readers with a good basic knowledge of the natural sciences cannot recognize the untrustworthiness of these cleverly prepared fake messages and consider them to be serious contributions to the discussion on a still undecided topic. So they prefer to wait for a final clarification. It is precisely this waiting that delays the implementation of vital climate protection measures.”

Uhm, same tactic, exactly as Impeachment. IT’s the LEFT’s only way to fight. Let’s just give up and punish people who disagree. Priceless

  42. I can see tons of potential in jailing those whose opinions and speech might potentially be detrimental to society. So, incidentally, did Mao, Stalin, and the three Kims.

  43. Progressives are a nasty and mean bunch of demigods.

“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth”
    Plato

  44. “if the global economic climate gas emissions are not ended within the next 10 years”

What are “global economic climate gas emissions”? Is this something new? Are these emissions the result of printing money? Emissions resulting from armored cars moving money between banks?

Would this mean that if the “global economy” crashed, there would be no “gas emissions”?

  45. Is Germany repeating its history? Jailing those with different views did not end very well first time around.

  46. “Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored”. Aldous Huxley

True when he wrote it and still true today.

  47. Having read the paper in question, it seems to be a very large amount of speculation with diagrams using unlabelled axes.

Clearly the PIK has different scientific standards to the rest of us and has difficulty in distinguishing between science and propaganda.

  48. The major worry of the climate alarmists is that subsidies to renewable energy will stop. The most vociferous proclaimers of a climate emergency just happen to be the biggest solar and wind companies. Follow the money.

  49. Since they want to be dramatic and excessive, I can too…
How about we execute anyone who goes along with the climate hoax, for treason!
Yes, because the climate hoax threatens our national sovereignty and prosperity (by forcing us to give up our energy autonomy and cut production). It benefits our enemy China because they aren’t held to these standards. Therefore anyone going along with it is a treasonous eat and should hang.
(of course I’m not serious, but that’s kind of what the climate alarmist are doing here!)

  50. It’s self evident that the globul warmin hoax is transparent and that people who claim to believe it are either extremely dumb, under hypnosis (probably some kind of self hypno-delusion) or batcrazy. Or complicit of a criminal conspiracy.

Either way, they should be treated as demented people and anything they say in any context should be null and void and any person who refuse to take that path should be considered compromised.

  51. Not only were the Nazis Socialists, but they were also ultra green. Indeed, it is one of the biggest con jobs the world has ever seen to hoodwink almost everyone that the Nazis and Mussolini were “right wing.” Mussolini was voted Socialist of the Year. The Nazis loved nature and animals, but hated humans.

It beggars belief that Jews in particular have been sucked in by the monster LIE. Many become Socialists and Communists to be the opposite of Hitler. They have been deceived big time.

  52. “No change to the Basic Law is necessary” –

The “Basic Law” is the since WWII still prevailing provisory German Constitution. Till today there’s no new German Constitution prepared, let alone enacted.
