The Manntastic climate doom panel at #AGU19

I’ll be attending this (assuming they let me in, I pissed off some people yesterday, but that’s another story), and hopefully there will be a video of it available later. I expect there will be plenty of outlandish claims, and a plethora of unworkable ideas.

From AGU:

Governor Jerry Brown in Conversation with AGU Scientists: Protecting Earthā€™s climate for the next 100 years

Wednesday, 11 December, 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Moscone North, Hall E, LL

Former California Governor Jerry Brown (and 2016 AGU keynote speaker) helped California become an international leader in climate change policy, establishing the most comprehensive and integrated climate action program in the Western Hemisphere. Governor Brown will join a panel of scientists led by AGU President and glaciologist Robin Bell, to discuss the science and politics of climate change and what needs to be done to protect Earthā€™s climate for the future.

Mann of course has been promoting it for weeks:

I’ll have notes later. It all depends on how well the hearing assistance device they got me works.

IF collusion with a foreign adversary happened, THIS is exactly what it would look like. Theyā€™re shills for China.

When I was studying screen writing, we were told that because TV and movies were visual media, your script needed to be visual.

I believe it went like: a deaf person can watch a screen and tell what is going on, you’ve done your job as a screenwriter.

However, if a blind person can listen to the same thing and tell you what is going on, you’ve failed, as you’ve written a radio play (which were also fun to write, BTW).

So, yes, Anthony could do well to turn off any listening device and just watch. Most of this is Kabuki theater anyway. Give Climate Extinction credit: their costumes are amazing.

(If I have the time, I think I’m going to Photoshop some Scoldilocks braids on Michael Man…)

Just below this WUWT Manntastic AGU post is a WordPress ad:

If only we could rid humanity of the CAGW fungus amoumgus so easily.

So, climate science basically a protection racket?

Sounds about right.

But Anthony, why should they let you in if all you’re going to do is find fault with their bogus -oops, I mean Scientific claims?

Naturalist and broadcaster David Bellamy has died aged 86.
After dismissing global warming as “poppycock” he was declared a ‘persona non grata’ by BBC and rest of mass media but he stood by his opinion that there was no proof – apart from computer models – that it was actually happening.

Yes. RIP David. You made a lot of science approachable for a lot of people, and were badly treated by the BBC and ITV for your non-conformist view on global warming.

Imagine this for a moment… the 100 year reign of California Governor Jerry Brown.

Do you think the result would be a spectacular utopia, or a desert?

Maybe she will argue for a return to the prior California climate? After all that’s what created our spectacular natural wonders! (Yosemite, Hetch Hetchy,…)

I think the “Californian climatechange policy” is referring to Mr. Moonbeam.
He is an expert, after all, and he got results. He replaced California’s “permanent drought” with “permanent flooding”. He’s teaming up with the glaciologist to deal with California’s permanent glaciation.
(Or maybe to prevent it? Hard to say with Moonbeam.)

Mann:

“Protecting the Earth’s climate for the next 100 years”.

If only he would be alive to see the folly of his ways; the effect of his lies(IMHO); the destruction of the first-world by his dishonesty (not to mention the suppression of the third-world). But he won’t. He will be a rich, dead, man. Much good it will do him. And still, WRONG.

“He will be a rich, dead, man”

Good Lord! I hope not!

At the very least:
A) The IRS should catch up with him for all of the free legal aid he’s received.
B) The reverse SLAPP lawsuits should bankrupt him multiple times over.

As Ed Z says, .

When the MET people can manage a 7 day forecast I might give them the benifiit of the doubt.

Yes using the historical events of the past as a guide we could make a generalised forecast for 100 years or further in the future, but as with right now it would be a general guess as different parts of Earth have very different climates.

CC is just a nice money making scam.

I wonder if Mann and Hanson had any idea that things would end up like this when they started the ball rolling back in the day, or if they just thought they’d found something they would make their names famous?

I listened to some of the streamed content until I couldn’t take it anymore. Their presentations are an example of how to not convince people. Instead these self righteous presenters speak to their choir by saying deniers (skeptics) are stupid, that poor people who are the most vulnerable to climate change should not be allowed to become rich and thus not vulnerable, and that if you don’t like the culture on a lefty campus than your both stupid and anti science.

Hello Patrick

I also wondered about that.
Humans protecting the climate and humans saving the planet and on and on. It seems the success of the falangs has gone to their head such that they now see themselves as the masters of the universe and the managers and caretakers of nature.

Well, one of the most disturbing scams out there is when someone gets control over someone’s life, i.e., a legal guardianship over someone with dementia, then steals all their money and forces the victim to live like an animal.

So, yeah, I kinda envision that kind of “climate protection”, i.e., they’ll rake in the big bucks and do precisely squat for the climate.
