Thanks – and a note for the future of WUWT

On this traditional day of reflection and thanks, it is only fitting that I give thanks to the many many people who have made WUWT what it is today, and helped me personally.

From memory (which is of course imperfect, so I have likely missed dozens if not hundreds) I offer my thanks to these people.

Charles Rotter aka CTM or Charles the Moderator Charles gets a special place all by himself at the top, for reasons to numerous to mention, but also because he has kept WUWT going over the last year after I went into survival mode after the disastrous camp fire in Paradise. I’m about to come out of that, read on.

Mark Steyn, Melissa Howe, Andrew Lawton, Steve McIntyre, Ross McKitrick, Richard Lindzen, Willis Eschenbach, Christopher Monckton, Roger Pielke Sr., Roy Spencer, John Christy, Patrick Moore, Judith Curry, Evan Jones, Eric Worrall, Harold Ambler, David Middleton, Bob Tisdale, Chris Horner, Joseph Bast, Sterling Burnett, Robert E. Phelan (REP) (deceased), Thomas P., Mike L., Mike J., Andy C., Verity J., Lee K., Robert C., Keith B., James Taylor, Jim Lakely, Keely Drukala, Andrew Singer, Nikki Comerford, Frank Lasee, Malon W., Kennneth P., Jennifer Marohasy, Peter Ridd, Andrew Bolt, Jo Nova, David Archibald, Malcolm Roberts, Andrew Montford, Josh Gifford, Benny Peiser, Marc Morano, Pierre Gosselin, Ryan Maue, Paul Matthews, Tom Nelson, Chris Martz, Mike Smith, Marcel Crok, Mike Bastasch, Barry Woods, Richard Drake, Nic Lewis, David Rose, John Coleman (deceased), Joe D’Aleo, Chris Bortz, Mike Jonas, Jimmy Haigh, David Little, Mike Wolcott, Dino Corbin, and Rick Anderson.

I’m sure I’ve missed several people. Apologies.

Last, and most certainly least, is Michael Mann, who has done more to create readers and climate skeptics than anyone I know.

Now, the news:

After a year of mostly being on Hiatus, I’m coming back to regular daily operations in January 2020. There will be an announcement forthcoming related to that and to the larger news that enables me to spend much more time at WUWT than ever before. This will include some plans for expansion, as well as some significant changes about how we operate.

One change will affect our readers, and make for a better reading and commenting experience overall.

One of the biggest problems we’ve had is with trolls that use fake names, fake emails, and fake connections (proxys) to threadbomb. One in particular in Oregon has bragged about it, one in Canada made threats, and I called the police on him.

And, it keeps happening; some people who are narcissistic mann-equins think they are entitled to do it, because they are holier-than-thou defenders of the planet or something. Some of these same people also impersonate other commenters here. We’ve stopped them all (at least we think we have). But, we need better tools to detect and stop this.

So, around the first of the year, WUWT will no longer be an open commenting system, it will require registration to comment. Many, many, websites that allow comments require this, and it has become clear to me, that we need to go that direction too. Doing so will help keep the quality of conversation elevated, and will only require a one-time registration that will take about two minutes to complete. It will stop the trolls, the impersonators, and the drive-bys and give us a tool for enforcing our commenting policy. It will also ease moderation duties. Reading content will still be publicly available as I abhor paywalls.

And there will be other changes, including better search, better commenting tools, and an expanded reference section drawing from the WUWT archives that will be suitable for sharing.

The plan is simple: A rising tide lifts all boats, where the “boats” is climate skepticism worldwide.

Thank you, all of you. My sincerest best wishes.

I’m glad for a registration system. Everything I post currently gets stuck in a 24 hour spam filter, or something, and i have no idea why, never having posted anything to deserve that. So, thanks for the new system in advance!

I don’t mind that. Anthony has done a wonderful job creating this resource. And having been the victim of an impersonator faking my name on posts, I am 100% in favour of a registration system, even if we have to submit photo ids to get enrolled! As bad as getting impersonated was, I also have a bad feeling that I reacted angrily to other people here, when the posts I was reacting to might themselves have been fakes of that other poster. I’ll never know whether those people deserved my irritation.

My only remaining question: Why hasn’t Anthony been given some sort of medal of honour?

Let me be the first to thank YOU, your “staff” and all the readers and commenters, and I look forward to the future.

Looking forward to Your increased involvement in your own super-duper website, and really many thanks. Around the world, it is difficult to get anything this magnitude going.

“And there will be other changes, including better search ….”

One quick-fix (especially helpful for visiting journalists and newbies) would be to move the boxes for Archives and Categories up under the Search box at the top. They logically belong together, and they two I mentioned are in effect hidden—and anyway hard to locate, which they shouldn’t be. They don’t displace much space.

Thanks to you Anthony for such a great site for all these years…a great source of ammunition and sanity in this strange world…a lot of work, especially with so much going on in your life in recent years but very much appreciated by us all. We would be lost without it.

Just a thought if you’re revamping the resources…a reference page on sea level would be most useful I think…links to PSMSL, SONEL, notes on GIA procedures/scams, graphs, Willie Soon videos, etc. perhaps as a starting point. Easy for me to suggest as I don’t have to do any of the work setting it up and maintaining it but it would be a useful addition I think.

The search box is very important for me too…could it perhaps display results with newest posts at the top.

Special thanks also to CTM and also Dave Middleton who has contributed such a wealth of information and posts especially in recent times.

As a slightly longer-term reader, I have similar concerns.
When people search for my full name I want them to find my LinkedIn profile and my professional reputation. I am not a professional climate sceptic. My Big Oil money has never come.

So long as my name appears just as an initial I will still feel safe to occasionally comment. But not if my full name appears.

Is this a MeToo moment for me too?

But, yeah, I’d have to think about posting under my real name.

On one hand…I personally don’t care any more what anyone thinks of me or my opinions, as I’ve begun to “Walk Away”, as I believe the saying goes now. As I tell those charities and groups who still want my money and time after they’ve drank the SJW Kool-Aid: “I don’t go where I”m not welcome, and my money and time don’t go where I’m not welcome”.

And I’m certainly welcome here.

However…when I first started posting using my real name back in the 1990s on UseNet, my ex (with whom I was fighting a child-custody battle with) started getting phone calls from some of my “debating” partners.

Ever try to explain what UseNet is to someone who didn’t have a home computer (see: 1990s)?

Now trying doing that to a roomful of lawyers…

Immediately losing my job would be one outcome of posting my real name. (And there’s probably less than a dozen people in North America that share my surname.)
I was thinking a new email address and a “nom de guerre” might suffice?

Hopefully. I’d hate to miss the opportunity to throw my 2 cents’ worth in once in awhile. In any case, I’m absolutely in awe of what Anthony and contributors have done to make WUWT what it is today. Including me, tens of thousands of people check it every day, and the counter seems to be speeding up. I do everything I can to get the word out. Amazing courage, tenacity, and honesty. All your suggestions and changes are wise and well considered. Thank you for surviving the last few years. You are the Climate equivalent to Brandon Straka, who finally woke up to the fact that most media are lying to us, and invited us to #walkaway. You are the scientist who migrated from proponent to skeptic, and decided to create your own group under the clever use of your name in your web page.

A big ‘thank you’ to yourself and all your contributors, Anthony – an island of sanity amidst all the hysterical and fraudulent nonsense propagated under the banner of supposed dangerous man-made global warming, now rebranded as climate change’.
It’s not ‘climate change’ that bothers me – it’s the unimaginably colossal sums of taxpayer’s money that’s being wasted – money that would be better spent on the things essential to any civilised society – medical care and research, social care, policing , community projects and much more.
The greatest pseudo-scientific con-trick in history – and the politicians and media have fallen for it through their own ineptitude and laziness in checking the claims of the second-rate scientists behind it all for
themselves.
I often wonder what’s really going on – for example, a 16-year old schoolgirl gets to preach to the United Nations assembly – how was this made possible?

BTW I was having a CA discussion in the UK last night, with an American, and pointed out California was so inhospitable the early Russian settlers in Sonoma gave up and went away. Leaving the Russian River legacy.

Not sure that’s true, the people at the (California) “Old Faithful” at Calistoga who told that story also told us the old faithful Geyser was the largest on West coast, later I noted there were competitors, and their’s only managed a somewhat pathetic/apologetic squirt that the fire brigade wouldn’t value, although it was said to have some use predicting earthquakes by changing its periodicity….allegedly. But only recognised after the event. So much BS its hard to separate the facts from the fiction. But it seems the Russians colonised it first, well first after the rightful owners they infected to death, that is. Before quitting. Sound familiar? Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m actually looking forward to having to have an account to comment on WUWT. It’s been a minor (very minor, but still…) annoyance to have to give a name and email every time I comment on here — only because I can’t remember what name and e-mail I used last time (don’t want to use my full given name), so I keep using different names and one of three different public, non-personal email addresses I maintain. It’s even caused some confusion because apparently one of the names I was using was the same as another frequent WUWT commenter causing him to switch up his. Who knows, maybe getting rid of this annoyance might encourage me to be more active on the site.

As an ex-East and now adopted West European, although I am aware of the Thanksgiving Day but not fully familiar with historical etc stuff, my thanks go to ‘the glory of the god and the global warming’ in that order.
In the last two days there were number of articles about England & Wales winter deaths.
“There were an estimated 23,200 excess winter deaths in England and Wales in 2018-19 – the lowest recorded since winter 2013-14, figures show…….
The data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), published on Wednesday, also showed that respiratory diseases continued to be the leading cause of excess winter deaths.”

Despite progress in medicine, homes thermal insulation and gas central heating installations credit for the reduced number of the winter deaths undoubtedly goes to the rising winter temperatures
As this graph conclusively proves that to be so

The reduction in excess winter deaths also follows closely the reduction in percent who smoke.

Hi MA
Reduction in smoking is due to rise in the winters’ global temperatures; ex smokers don’t have to inhale hot poisonous tobacco gasses to keep themselves warm on a cold winter day /sarc

Many many thanks Anthony for the fantastic job you have done over the years, at considerable expense and personal expense to yourself. The world is a better place thanks to your efforts, and I feel that the much-awaited tipping point is not too far away now – but it’s not one that those who rabbit on about tipping-points will like.

One of the ways in which WUWT, and Jo Nova in Australia, are so valuable, is in keeping us up to date with all issues. When I get into conversation with an alarmee, it might start with Polar Bears starving, but if I point out that the Polar Bears are thriving, the conversation switches to the Great Barrier Reef, droughts, floods, storms, walruses, sea level, wind farms, coal production, ocean acidification, and goodness knows what else. I’m expected to know all about all of them.

Thanks to WUWT, at least I know where to find information quickly, and the all-important source documents.

I hope that many who are true believers in a climate crisis register and post honestly under their own name/handle. It is awesome to have a family of like-minded people to converse with, but it is more interesting of there is diversity of thought. Trolls we don/t need, but discussion, even arguing, can be the spice of life.

Thank you, Anthony, and CTM and all contributors. I am in gratitude this day and every day! May God bless you all!

From one of your many grateful (and, now, better informed) readers in the UK, thank you for creating this terrific resource and a beacon for honest, objective science. Had a brief moment of glory when a story I contributed hit the front page here at WUWT some years ago. Mainly, I am an avid reader if articles here, following up the links and occasionally commenting.

Looking forward to registering and being part of a glorious new chapter of the world’s best science blog.

I note there are both long-time and new readers commenting on this post.
We got a DSL connection in September 2008 so that is when I started. I helped with one of the weather station reports, have made a few comments (useful, I trust), and last year actually did a post (thanks ctm, for the help).
I want to mention David Middleton, a relatively recent contributor to WUWT, and also Bob Tisdale, more active here a few years ago. Not to slight others, but I have learned much from these two.
And, where is Janice? Hi there.

Hi, John,

How kind of you to mention me. You have been my gallant encouraged from the beginning (for me, April, 2013).

****”You know things. Share.”****

Thank you for that. And, even more, for the John Milton, “They also serve who only stand and wait.” Still waiting… for such a long time…

It is more difficult for me to access the internet, now that I am living without wifi and in pretty tough circumstances.

Also, WUWT has become a much less pleasant place to be with the always-into-moderation, often long, comment delay (along with the marked lukewarm atmosphere).

I haven’t forgotten ANY of YOU, even if , as it is clear, some have forgotten me (I am in good company as to that, though, also forgotten were R. A. Cook and D. B. Stealey…).

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you all (even you who have forgotten).

John, I hope you and Nancy are well, keeping warm, and are full of joy as you revel in good music, the beauties of our lovely state, and each others’ loving company.

And, to you newcomers, please see the above 2013 quote from John to me and KEEP ON SHARING! 🙂

Take care,

Janice
(gone, but not, as it turned out, forgotten … lololol)

P.S. If you see this, Richard Courtney, still praying for you…

I’d like to change “stubborn” to “persistent.” Please forgive the rather negative connotation of the original appellation.

Dear Matt,

Thank you, so much, for reaching out to me. I had the honor of “talking with” your dad, here, about a month (?) ago. He found me on a thread somewhere (I forget where). He encouraged me to keep on commenting and mentioned that he is doing fairly well, but his medication makes him sleepy. It was so good to “see” him.

For the past 3 years or so, WUWT has become much more supportive of the lukewarm viewpoint, often at the expense of truth and data-driven science. That atmosphere is very unpleasant to me. I’ve commented a few times about it — use “swamp” to google for them (heh). Also, the always-into-moderation comment delay and the inability to post videos and images (I so LOVED doing that) made me kind of sad. Finally, no wifi and very difficult living circumstances for the past 14 months have made commenting difficult.

I understand your not wanting to hang out with us “conservatives.” We need your voice, though, Matt. Do try to bear with what you find unpleasant at times. Perhaps, it might help you to recall that in the U.S., it is, these days, it is the “conservatives” who are promoting data-driven science and other policy. The “liberals” over here peddle in fake science/propaganda on “climate change”/”renewables” issues (the solar, wind, electric/hybrid vehicle and like sc@mmers have made the “liberals” (mostly Democr@ts, here) their party of choice). Their BIG MONEY donations to such candidates are almost solely promote the “renewables” sc@m in which they have invested millions of their money (but, can’t recoup their investment with out OPM). Thus, many of us, to promote truth in science, loudly support Republicans such as Donald Trump. It is part-and-parcel of supporting data-driven policy (in this country).

To try to make you feel more like hanging out, here, I, personally, will try to be careful to limit how much I mention my pro-free markets/private property, purely political views.

We (you and I and ALL of the non-trolls, here, I think) are UNITED FOR DATA-DRIVEN SCIENCE! 🙂

I hope that Advent is a beautiful, meaningful, and joyful, season for you (and your wife and father) this year. And, given that you, too, enjoy this composer’s music (“can’t believe it’s Rutter” (smile)), here is one of my favorite John Rutter Christmas tunes:

The ruse of impersonating others seems to be common recently. Someone gained access to my password at another site and made comments that I would not approve of. There are issues with moderation so every attempt to politely distance myself from the views that never should have passed moderation was rejected.

Surely people must realise that if they need to resort to such behaviour to win an argument that their position is not that to robust.

Well done Anthony, CTM, DM and other stalwarts.
It has been valuable to have a fairly consistent view from WUWT over the years to counter the poor science of The Establishment.
If I may, a suggestion about those raising the issue or blogging under a real name. I was one of the earliest WUWT bloggers. I have always used my real name. I do so because those who know me, or know of me, can evaluate the likely worth of my offerings, coming from a known context like my public c.v. and put it in context.
The Establishment has long been weak because of an obvious reluctance to conduct a lot of policy it is fond of discussing. Thus, we have the large conferences with high aircraft use by those who bash aircraft use as bad, and so on. Lacking the courage of convictions etc.
Those who blog here avoiding real names also lack courage. Action comes at a price, not from a comfortable armchair. So use your real name without fear or embarrassment and promote your c.v.
This was one of the key indicators of the ends of some past scares, like man made chemical cancer epidemics, with important (real) names stating a firm view that dissented from The Establishment’s. Geoff S

“. . . . a concise guide to climate change suitable for children and politicians?”

Seconded. Start with “WUWT’s quick simple guide to CO2″, with a full list of all the ways we either produce the gas or make use of it, plus a list of all natural sources of CO2. Also add an ‘idiots guide to CO2 in the sky” showing how little the amount of man-made CO2 there is up there compared to all other atmospheric gases.

I believe that it may be a wake up call to all those gullible hoodwinked kids and teachers that think we are killing the planet.

So many years now, fighting a meme that should have been overturned! Almost time for another tour through Australia Anthony. It was nice to meet in Melbourne and see so many other skeptics turn up. Your site is a breath of fresh scientific air in a sea of semi official crud. Our main broadcaster the ABC is so far to the left that it is irrecoverable and the Conversation is so full of bias against conservative thinking, that all they want to do is dominate the Education systems and punish and censor skeptics. The level of hypocrisy is frightening, but underneath it all the great bulk of Australians who know the history of climate, our droughts our floods and harsh outback life will quietly admit they are skeptical of the global warming scam. There is high interest in the subject and the leading site for real scientific discussion is your site. Keep up the good work!

As far as registration is concerned, that can only help screen out the rather small group that snipes at the site, its participants and contrive the false information that keeps our so called climate Council feeding elements of our quite left wing media who are determined to crush any dissent and science that is contrary to their dictate.
Have been considering posting under my own full name as I am well known for my support of this site and the promotion of your published articles even though at times that has lead to censorship at some sites. Tough being a supporter of good science and good sense it seems. So I personally welcome those changes and those that choose to make comments under their own name, especially well qualified scientists of all disciplines my admiration and support.

Wish I could do more.

One question Anthony,

With the new system of registered commenters, will screen names be real names (first, last) or created sxreen names, like Joel62 for example if I chose to? I won’t, but that’s just an example.

I agree these changes are needed unfortunately. 2020 in the US is going to get very nasty with the election and the slate of losers the Democrats have running for President and seeing their climate religion getting trashed by Trump on his way to re-election. If Trump gets another 4 years, it is hard to see how the renewable energy driven climate scam can survive. Everything about their climate scam for the Green Slime and the climate religion for the GreenBlob is on the line now.

FYI: Saint Greta passes the 3/4 mark across the Atlantic today (just a few hours from now) on Pilgrimage to the Holy City of Madrid, currently plotting with 823 nm to go, @ 10.2 kt, averaging 244 nm per day at that speed, and if maintained would cover the remaining distance in 3.4 days. She’d make Madrid on about the 4th of Dec, just as the pending cold northerly is peaking in Spain with a fair bit of snow, rain and ice about.

Typhoon “Kammuri”:
For most of this week ECMWF has predicted a CAT-5 will hit northern central Philippines around the 3rd of Dec (bit north of Haiyan’s track). Current ECMWF continues to show 915 HPc, 300 km/h hitting early on 3rd Dec. A very consistent stable forecast for strength and track, so quite likely to take place. MSM will chum with Climate-Fear™ package, and Madrid conference will milk Climate-‘Mergency™ for all it’s worth in the coming week. https://on.windy.com/32g9u

Anthony such good news that you will be without the trolls.

Someone said the other day that Blogs like this and Utube is the new Gutenberg Press. Mainstream media has abandoned the true journalism – who, what where, when, which, why and how – for fake news and proselytizing, so you and your ken are the new truth.

Thanks Anthony, and to all the Contributors and Commenters here at WUWT.
Happy Thanksgiving to all, even our friends who don’t do it.

All the best for the future.

Yay, Anthony. You, most of all need, to be commended for making WattsUpWithThat the great resource and forum it is today. The near-term plans you announced sound fantastic. I’m looking forward to them.

Sincerely,
Bob

PS: I’m working on a series of posts (weekly for 10 weeks) that I’ll begin soon.

Thank you for this wonderful web site.

I noted your mention of “One in particular in Oregon has bragged about it”
Can anyone point me to his bragging, especially (if memory serves me) his claim of having many different names. Living in Oregon, I am constantly running into this guy on the local blogs. He denies using multiple names.

All I can say is Great! This site has pointed me to science happenings I can share at the Planetarium. Registration is no problem for me but I can see others concerns. Glad to see the Pielke’s in your hall of fame list. They’re up north of here about 120 miles and slogging through knee deep snow.
Glad to have you back

Anthony I can’t thank you enough for your amazing work through the years. WUWT is all I read every night for a couple of hours and I’ve been doing so for years. In the process I have learned a tremendous amount and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Without this site I think I would have given in to despair about the unbelievable nonsense that seems to always be just a step away from destroying our life. Thank you so much, and thank you to all the contributors for the articles and comments that make reading this blog such a wonderful experience. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Thank YOU and “The ModSquad” for what you started and the … attitude (?) … in moderation that has prevailed over the years. That is, stay within site policy and even if what you say is idiotic, your comment will be allowed.
A “snip” may appear, but not to censor an opposing opinion.

So, around the first of the year, WUWT will no longer be an open commenting system, it will require registration to comment.

It might take awhile, but I hope that those who often disagree (Nick Stokes, Mosh, even Griff) won’t take registration as an attempt at censorship.
I don’t mean to speak for you but, those who disagree are invited and encouraged to comment and/or post. Just do it honestly. Same for those who generally agree.
Except for an occasional typo, I’ve only commented here using two names. I used my real first name for my first few comments back in 2012 or so. When I realized I was going to comment more and that my job could be at risk if I said something that might identify me to the Green Goon/PC Squad at work (I have a government job), I contacted Anthony and told him I was going to go by “Gunga Din” and why.

Also, Outside of a, group, club, I’d never run into it. I hate needing to register to make a comment. I first noticed it a couple of years ago at JunkScience.com. If there was an explanation for it, I missed it. The idea was new to me. I haven’t commented there since.
I never went far enough to find out why.
You explained that and it makes sense. Weed out the bots and those attacking the site rather than those just disagreeing with an idea.
Guess I’ll go register at JunkScience.com. 😎
(But maybe in the morning. It’s after midnight here. “Thanksgiving Day” here ended at midnight. But there’s lots to be thankful for everyday. )

Thank you Anthony for everything you’ve done already – and everything you will be doing in the future. What a bastion of hope and truth WUWT has been all these years. It’s great news that you have made such a good recovery. We all need to be on our best form to fight against the unbelievable world climate hysteria that is currently raging.

A very happy Thanksgiving to you and ALL the great team there (from one of your many admirers and followers in the UK).

“We all need to be on our best form to fight against the unbelievable world climate hysteria that is currently raging.”

Yes, we do. It’s a tough public relations fight we are in and we have to be up to the task. That’s one of the beauties of WUWT: The alarmists try to overwhelm people with details but WUWT commentary sorts all those details out and gives perspective to the wild, unsupportable claims of the alarmists.

Although I know nothing of these things, I’m surprised there isn’t software which recognises email addresses (as being legitimate and acceptable) and doesn’t put those that are, in the Awaiting Moderation or Trash bin. Some sites I’ve visited actually tell you that (“Awaiting moderation”) which is useful because at least you know your comment hasn’t disappeared into a black hole. I’ve been posting here for upwards of ten years yet I still don’t know if my comment has been lost, until some time later.

It’s already been said by the many posters above but it bears repeating, anyway! Thanks for your site, Anthony, and thanks to the many contributors who have improved my own knowledge on so many topics over the years I’ve been visiting here. Keep up the good work & let’s hope for some “wins” on the side of real science in 2020 & beyond.

Thank you Anthony for allowing this ignorant layman to learn a little bit from the amazing people on here. More than just about our wonderful planet, but also about the scientific method.

Registration is a great policy and I’m happy to go under my real name if required. I mean, I’m ‘out’ now on my Facebook page, in fact I’ve been blocked by a number of alarmists, which is surprisingly satisfying after countering every argument they can come up with.

Anthony, thank you for all your efforts, it’s good to hear you’ll soon be back in the saddle. Could I suggest that your reference pages get an update? When I first started visiting wuwt, I soon made the solar, ice and El Niño pages a regular stopping spot. Unfortunately, many of the links on those pages no longer appear to update, which is especially frustrating when tracking things like the onset of Arctic sea ice freeze up.

Thank you for such a valuable and enduring resource. I came to WUWT in fairly early days, pointed here by the late Christopher Booker; I was already a ‘skeptic’, but was bewildered by the turn that the public argument seemed to be taking. I was only beginning to realize how big and nasty the Green Blob had grown. When I discovered WUWT, I found that I was in the company of like minds, many of whom knew much more than I did about all the relevant issues. So, thank you! When the pay cheque from the oil industry finally arrives, I hope your share is a big one. (does that need a ‘sarc’? Sad, that it might)

as so many above have aid Thank You Anthony Charles and everyone else who works hard to keep WUWT THE place to go for sanity and disussion and real honest science facts figures etc
its been nearly 10yrs? now and Im a daily visitor and doubt ive ever spentless than an hour reading and learning
and then I share it;-)
to Like we already have to register in my case via wordpress so I dont see that an issue
the real names thing however is for some of us. its not just wanting to say what you wouldnt with real name
I would anyway;-)
but there is a troll and personal safety issue for women using realnames online.
and I learnt the hard way about using gmail and similar email addys not sure if its a record but got acct hacked and locked out in less than 7 days and now get spammed By them. if I had used realname Id be in worse straights.
cheers welcome back and keep it up;-)

It has been wonderful to be a part of Wattsupwiththat for all these years. The changes, the growth, the quality of the contributions and the remarkable granularity of many of the comments. If you can’t learn a lot here you can’t learn it anywhere.

Glad you are back in the saddle Anthony and I am looking forward to the next decade with all this great company.

Musings on registration.

In part due to WUWT, I wind up on various WWW articles about climate. Sometimes I’ll leave a note, sometimes it needs registration first. If it accepts Disqus, that’s fine. FaceBook login, I worry about. Rarely will I create a local account.

However, even if I were less active here, I’d probably be glad to register because I know I’d be back.

If it cuts out some of the driveby snark and other clueless riffraff, I’ll call registration a success.

I join in the general praise and thanksgiving and add that my wish list would include a quick comment section where we could ask a question or point people to a news item. WUWT is must reading in today’s world of bizarre, apocalyptic climate madness. It is no exaggeration to say that you, Anthony, are providing a more valuable contribution to improving the human condition than any other person on the planet – and this includes multi-billion dollar charity donors such as Bill Gates and Warren Buffett.

Anthony,

You are very courageous! WUWT is a microcosm of the following: The solutions offered by Leftists to problems PERCEIVED on their part, involve SUICIDE on my part . . . . . I’m going to yield to Darwinian imperative and hit the Tip Jar along the way.

Best set site on the web!

Would appreciate a “save for later” option in my account. There are many articles I would love to read and the only way to keep track of them all is to save them in a chrome folder which is not ideal. Too much clutter in there. Harvard Business Review has a similar function that is pretty nice.
