BBC Andrew Neil Shreds Extinction Rebellion’s Climate Claims

Extinction Rebellion’s Zion Lights, caught out by challenging questions from the BBC

Hilarious video of Extinction Rebellion’s Zion Lights struggling to answer basic questions about the science behind ER’s claims.

Andrew Neil rips apart Extinction Rebellion claim that ‘billions of children will die’
ANDREW NEIL dismantled the argument made by an Extinction Rebellion member that “billions of children will die in the next 10 to 20 years” because of climate change.

Zion Lights, a spokeswoman for Extinction Rebellion, appeared on Andrew Neil’s BBC show to defend her organisation’s actions. The climate action group have shut down parts of central London as part of a planned two-week protest. Many have criticised the demonstrations for their disruption and “alarmist language”.

It’s refreshing to see a BBC presenter challenging climate claims, because it doesn’t happen very often these days. But Extinction Rebellion’s outrageous claim that a few feet of sea level rise will lead to billions of deaths deserves ridicule, even from people who think climate change is a problem.

  1. Please play this to anyone who runs for this scam. They won’t be convinced but they will have something to think about. The Climate Change crowd-based their claims on incredibly flimsy arguments. And still, they make such a ruckus. We had a mass movement in Germany and Austria that people were maniacal about 80 years ago and their claims were equally flimsy.

      • Not necessarily so, even the BBC can see that ER’s claims and tactics are not courting public opinion, despite giving them an easy ride.

        • Andrew Neil is literally the only BBC person who is prepared to challenge Climate Change orthodoxy. Yet unlike most interviewers he allows his interviewees to speak and make their points (if they have any).

I felt sorry for poor Zion Lights. I expect her mates told her “You’re all right, it’s the BBC. They love us, you’ll have it all your own way”. Unlucky.

    • She showed remarkable poise for being on the losing side of the data/debate. Must be a British thing.

    • No flights, no cooking and we have to have the lights out as well.
I would rather have Zion Light out!!

    • SuffolkBoy

The comments make me So happy Lolol Its brilliant to see so many people know the climate talk, is all a scam!

      • However, YouTube videos critical of Greta don’t last long, and I suspect the same will go for XR. “Soph” found that not just her video but her whole channel got taken off YouTube, Facebook and Bitchute. Whoever controls Greta has got considerable influence over alternative media, and will continue to have the influence long after she has been forgotten.

          • So that’s where all the “sea” level rise is going. Into reality rise love it.
Had some fun with a couple of true believers recently showing them opposing claims and time lines for the impending climate disaster with the simple question of which one’s right?
Has made them start looking a bit deeper and ask questions (which as a true believer should not be asked).

            James Bull

        • Greta and her parents have been pictured with antifa shirts on which is a George Soros funded movement. Even her personal handler is a known George Soros employee.
The claims that “billions will die” of this doomsday cult religion are true…
If the activist are successful in cutting back CO emissions by 80%, billions will freeze to death or starve to death by a self fulfilling prophecy of genocide against carbon consumers. All in the name of “saving the planet”.
Even the vegans will learn to hunt so their cats and dogs don’t go extinct.

          • There are about 7 billion people on Earth. I predict that about 7 billion will die in the next century.

          • In doing research for a paper I did in college in the ’90’s I discovered that these ‘watermelons’ actually believe that the maximum sustainable human population is 200 million. The last time the population was that low was before Alexander the Great. They want to eliminate 97 out of every 100 people on the planet.

        • Her channel getting taken down had nothing to with Grata Thunderpants though, threatening Wojcicki probably not the smartest of things to do when regardless of how edgy you are even in jest. Still on Bitchute, difficult to get the boot from there. Thing is on observation, she screams adult edgelord influence exactly the same way Greta does with dopey utopian socialists.

I would agree on the influence part. Greenpeace probably spemd a ton of advertising money on Youtube, and Alphabet/Google/Youtube are just another part of the Climate Industrial Complex.

  2. Talk about being in DENIAL.
    Does Not Get It
    Or refuses to see it

    Blinded by the Plight
    She acts like a douche
tryin to block the drivers right

    • Bryan A

With all due respect, MANY of these people ARE DEFINITELY NOT in denial – these ruthless, self-proclaimed guides of superior merit & wisdom want to control your every economic & intellectual move. I suspect this crowd will justify whatever level of totalitarian violence is required to subjugate the rest of us…and, oh, by the way, I bet they could care less about the climate.

This particular lady looked like a f@#king idiot this interview, but she & her crowd are (excuse the pun) dead-serious about controlling the rest of us.

      • At the very least, they are in denial of how little impact their actions will have, and, most notably, in denial of how flamingly stupid they are.

      • Without resorting to profanity, this unfortunate individual is the classic example of the “useful” idiot.
This video would be very good tool in communicating with the “undecideds”, but there will be a large portion of the viewing audience who will have thought the host was browbeating the poor virtuous young lady.

The message in the UK and maybe more so in the US, is hosts can’t be afraid of challenging the physically impossible despite their agreement with alarmist memes.

Why don’t the activist scientists (like Phil Jones EAU) step in to disclaim this nonsense; don’t they realize that the rationales of the Extinction crowd are stripping away the credibility of the policy positions they are advocating?

  3. I was taught “If you can’t say something good about someone, don’t say anything.” Well, she is cute.

  4. I think Zion Lights was the alternate title for one of the first post Ozzy songs by Black Sabbath. They chose Neon Nights instead.

  5. To the “even the BBC “ point – Andrew Neil has a fine reputation as a serious interviewer….

    To the ladies points……

Where to start? But as soon as she quotes the “Mano on the moon” thing, you kind of give up. This is the equivalent to the point that any internet argument is forfeited by the first person to mention Hitler…

    • I might have asked her a few questions regarding her knowledge on the scale of the undertaking she is blithely dissembling on about.
Lets assume she is talking only about the UK.

      1) How many gas appliances heaters, boilers, cookers, etc. will need to be replaced with electrical cognates?

      2) How many workers will be required to accomplish the removal, replacement and disposal of the aforementioned appliances in 6 years? (is there enough landfill volume) *these items still have value

      3) How many automobiles, trucks (lorries) and buses must be replaced?

      4) How much rebuild/replace/upgrade will be required to the UK power grid to accommodate all of the electrical demand?

      5) How many nuclear powered electrical generating stations will need to be brought on-line in the next 6 years to supply the needed energy to power all of the existing power demands as well as all of the replacement devices?

      6) What sort of energy is proposed to manufacture all of these new nuclear power stations and appliances, or must they all be made in less than 6 years also?

      7) Will it be necessary to force almost all manufacturing and building to a halt as most processes require carbon, such as steel and concrete?

      8) Who the hell is going to pay for all of this?

      * perhaps she plans on selling the perfectly good appliances to the Indians or Chinese, but they will be the ones selling the electrical appliances.

      • That’s a bunch of excellent questions but, unfortunately, she would tell you they need workshopping to find solutions; man on the moon and all that.

      • Good point! And mobil phones and social media are very heavy CO2 emitters. Git rid of all that too. Tell the teenagers that!!

    • “Andrew Neil has a has a fine reputation as a serious interviewer…..
It is a sad day when Andrew drags out all the IPPC nonsense without questioning it and then let’s this little uneducated tartlet get away with quoting Hansen and Mann…… gimmie a break Mark.
But I suppose for the fake news BBC this is revolutionary.

      • One battle at a time.

Neil would not get into a debate about Mann during this interview…his mission was pretty clearly to have a go at XR.

I have no first hand knowledge, but would assume he has a pretty tightly structured interview plan….?

      • I think you misjudge Andrew Neal. His interviewing style is not to confront the interviewee with extremes but to get them to compare their view with the mainstream which highlights how extreme they’re being. He did this very well last night. Andrew is also a contributor to the Guido Fawkes website and shows some of his personal views their.
I think he judged the interview just right for the mainstream viewer concerned about the
        idiotic ER movement.

  6. Note that she quotes James Hansen, the man that never got one prediction right and then quotes Micheal Mann.

    • A C O

Hang on, Hansen was cited in a comment on a different thread yesterday saying that doubling CO2 would give a TCR of 1.2 C. Given the absence of significant positive feedbacks Monckton’s range of 1.0-1.4 seems pretty close.

BTW way the citation was Hansen 1984, cited in AR5. Really. Hansen said that and AR5 contains it. What they hope of course, is that there will be a huge positive water vapour feedback which literally all evidence to date shows is not happening and will not, and proved mathematically by Monckton to be non-physical on a climate-stable planet.

  7. Zion Lights expresses it best herself:

    “Alarmist language works.
That’s why we’re discussing it right now.”

    • Great point! Alarmist language gets Ms. Lights on the BBC with a high profile interview. Alarist language has been driving this movement entirely since 1989! Nothing else has or could drive this movement, because reality and science work against it. Alarmist language, in other words lying, is all that they have.

But here’s the rub…any movement built on lies is doomed to failure. Historically, these failures are catastrophic in nature, producing widespread death and suffering, as well as severe damage to the professed noble cause.

The death of this climate crisis movement was insured with its disingenuous conception. The only question that remains is how much collateral damage will be done because of it.

      • What about using threatening language in return?

‘If you knew that five years in prison were the punishment for saying other than the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, would you be withdrawing ninety percent plus of your alarmist rubbish?’

You get nowhere pandering to people like this. You demolish them, humiliate them through their ignorance.

If they come back with the same rubbish after being demolished for ignorance, there is no longer any reason to be courteous, you call them mentally subnormal cretins….

    • I indeed get your drift that there are logical inconsistencies in what Lights says but these need spelling out.
If such language “works” they would not be “discussing it” because the interviewer would not be questioning it in the first place.
If some language is “alarmist” rather than factual how can it be said that it has “worked” if all it has done is to undermine rational and factual discourse? What “work” has it done in this case?

  8. There are barely 2.3 billion kids aged 17 and younger in the world, so ER expects them all to die. Plus presumably those yet to be born.

    • Well, it’s metaphorical. It means dead to their old life and reborn in the light of the Green!

      Except for the refuseniks.
      They will be culled.

    • I didn’t know these kids age 17 and younger could not move fast enough to escape sea level rise! Last weekend while at the beach, they were diving into a century’s worth of modeled sea level rise every time a wave broke. Also, I didn’t know that many lived by the sea. Isn’t the sea shore crowded with expensive homes, resorts, & industry?

As a side note, an activists looks, dress style, accent, and mastery of the English language are not indicators of scientific understanding and wisdom.

    • No. She is in league with AOC’s Town Hall ‘Special Guest’.

THE BABIES! WE HAVE TO EAT THE BABIES!

  9. BBC are corrupt and in the pocket of industry.
How much CO2 was emitted making that BBC segment?
Andrew Neil and BBC staff are shameless, careless, corrupt capitalists!
    Shut down BBC now . . .

    • Andrew Neil is actually mostly ok, one of increasingly few of his ilk still “allowed” to broadcast for the otherwise hopelessly corrupt BBC.

      • Yes, Andrew Neil is too well established and respected to be openly bullied by the BBC. He was an editor at The Economist and Sunday Times back in the early 1980’s. They are just waiting until he retires/dies. Less controversial than publicly firing him. They simply make sure that nobody else with similarly old-fashioned ideas about journalistic integrity ever gets promoted. It would be career suicide for junior BBC editors today to express the level of free-thinking shown by Neil.

    • corrupt is the nice word…
How do they get away with this crap?….still acting like it’s our problem

…not one word about China and the developing world

    • Good idea. Let’s “shut down” anyone who disagrees with us rather than debate their errors.
Excellent idea! My only problem is how I can “shut down” pseudoscientists like extinction rebellion wannabe politicians who have no knowledge of society, culture, politics, economics or the aspirations of the other 99.9% of the rest of us.

    • & I want my free TV licence Now , not when I’m over b!@@?# 75 ( &, yes I am on a bog standard state pension + guaranteed credit so if I was 75 I’d qualify) By the way what happened to that pillock who shut himself up in an air tight dome with a load of plants,(or did i dream that??!?); can’t remember his name. I keep the following on a bit of paper in my wallet, (mainly so’s i can a score a few points over the “carbon dioxide bad” brigade: healthy-ish air: Nitrogen 78%, oxygen 21%, Argon 0.94%, Carbon Dioxide (CO2) 0.03% [Pears (En)- Cyclopedea]

  10. Religion does not respond to logic. Good effort n=by Neil to show the nonsense religion of climate alarmism up for what it is. Sadly the young lady being revealed as a low brow know nothing in the studio, will not have absorbed anything from the drubbing she just received. She will leave that studio content that Extinction Rebellion got some publicity, and content that her superior internal religious awareness of the climate crisis shows how ignorant others like Andrew Neil are.
In another part of the world of Green dogma, some good news. Thankfully Dyson have literally pulled the plug on their electric car development. They have concluded, rightly, there is no commercial potential for another electric car producer.
Full marks to the decision makers at Dyson.

    • I loved the description of a “low brow know nothing” as extinction rebellion’s choice of spokesperson. It tells us what we need to know about the rest of the gaggle.

  11. You will find Andrew Neil is quite good, watch him slap down racist hypocrite Diane Abbot.
    West Indian mums;

    • In defense of the lady: When I was younger there was a law where I lived that mandated that a woman working later than 10 PM (I can’t really remember the time) had to be given a taxi ride home.

      • Diane Abbot? Working? She is a lifelong politician, therefore has no idea what work is. But I doubt that all the cabs were after 10 PM, regardless.

      • In the US NYS, and many others, had a law that prohibited women working the 3rd shift. Thus women were utilized for simple non automated day-shift assembly work. When the law changed most companies “grandmothered” these folks to permanent day jobs.

When I worked my way to Production Supervisor in a large photographic company, who at that time had a no “fire or layoff without cause” policy, I inherited a large cadre of wonderful older, friendly ladies who had not the slightest inclination to train on the rotating 3 shift automated dark room equipment which now made up most of our operation.

The saving grace for me was a very generous early retirement program, including SSI bridges.

      • “When I was younger there was a law where I lived that mandated that a woman working later than 10 PM (I can’t really remember the time) had to be given a taxi ride home.”

That was the case when I was working in the public sector. I made an issue about men not having the option. The powers-that-were cut it off for all.

    • That was a good show.
      A left-wing Labour figure (Abbot)
A socially liberal, economically Thatcherite Tory (Portillo)
And a traditional right-wing host (Neil)

All engaged in reasoned debate. Sometimes they won. Sometimes they lost. Sometimes they got nowhere. But there was always debate and respect.

So the BBC cancelled that show.

  12. Oh. My. God. Everyone on the internet, indeed, in the universe is now dumber having listened to that moron.

  13. Such skepticism on carbon capture but such optimism on renewables. No experts with any track record of successful energy production are touting a carbon free 2025, only so called “climate experts”, alarmists, activists, social justice warriors, salesman and those hoping to profit from new but so far demonstrably inadequate technologies.

If she thinks putting a man on the moon without the internet and cell phones is somehow obviously more complex than revamping the modern power system to work without fossil fuels in a short time frame she is woefully ignorant. She might as well tout what David Copperfield has done, because she is asking for magic.

    • My parents told me that in post-World War 2 Czechoslovakia no one took Communists seriously. Their plans were so obviously unworkable. Then they got power, everybody had to take them seriously or be jailed, they put all their plans into practice, and yes, they did not work. The country has yet to recover, 30 years after the fall of communism.

    • Planning Engineer

As I noted from a commentator elsewhere; whilst the task of putting a man on the moon was daunting, the task of getting the UK to net zero carbon emissions by 2025 is equivalent to putting the population of the planet on the moon, and keeping them there.

    • How many did “we” put on the moon, a dozen?

Now lets put a million or ten million or a hundred million, that is almost the scale of what is being proposed. Such a task cannot be done in 5 or 6 years.

  14. Thats refreshing especially for me. Two days ago Montreal’s Champlain Bridge was blocked by 3 XR for severals hours, putting the lives of the firefighter trying to get them down in danger. Think of all the peoples who could not receive the medical help, since the city was in partial lockdown.

And guess what? One of the 3 Nobel Prize nominates was a teacher (poor kid!) who no more than last may she was in Mexico doing Scuba diving.

You can’t be more into double standards and denial than that. I want some if the unicorns dust she takes, sounds like a lot of fun.

  15. Zion is a complete idiot and essentially knew nothing. Neil is giving her too much credit for know anything about climate or climate change or the biosphere in general. Neil should have asked her some specific relevant questions to show how little she actually knew about which she was pontificating. For example, “Zion, what is the average current rate of sea level rise?” “What is the current rate of increase in world grain production?”

  16. The interesting thing is that Andrew Neil took the IPCC numbers at face value, so couldn’t be called a Denier. I’m waiting for the rush of complaints about AN’s abusive behaviour, quite apart from his flagrant breach of BBC guidelines. Will we ever see him again?

    • Chaamjamal, I am presuming you are referring to Andrew Neil with your comment, as the Zion Light lady didn’t present any facts, she didn’t present any solutions, she didn’t present any time scales, but she did mention James Hansen who has been shown to be wrong on all his doomsday predictions and she did mention Michael Mann who has been revealed to be a fraudster hockey stick graph manufacturer, and is someone the IPCC would happily airbrush out of their history if they could.
She would still leave that studio imagining she has helped her religious climate alarmist call, sadly for her she would be wrong about that too.

  17. Andrew was too easy on her, but I guess if he were to ask any really tough questions he would go the way of David Bellamy and never work again.

    • She brought a plastic spoon to a gun fight, much like Cathy Newman did against Jordan Peterson.

  18. I would love to follow her around and reminder her every time she uses fossil fuels. She is a flaming hypocrite.

  19. A pity Neil didn’t point out that her hero Jim Hansen acknowledges getting energy from Ruinables is useless and that many more nuclear reactors are needed. (If you are daft enough to think CO2 is a problem.)

I wonder what this gormless woman would think about that?

  20. Did I mishear or did she actually use Mickey Mann in support of “Exhausting Revulsion’s” demand of zero emissions” by 2025″?

I know nothing about Andrew Neil (I’m not Brit) but it sounded to me like he’s all in on CAGW but these nuts have gone too far?
(I’d love to see him interview AOC!)

PS If I’m wrong about that, my apologizes in advance.

    • Mr Neil actually does his job in interrogating warmistas and skeptics in the same way: professionally.

He is very rare in the BBC….

      • Yes, I regret the (not so impartial) Aunty BeeB may find some flimsy reason make him extinct as t’were!

      • Thanks for the clarification.
Sounds like he is a skilled “Devil’s Advocate” to whoever he interviews.

    • I have no idea where he stands personally on AGW, but as a BBC employee he has to “toe the company line”.. Which is a shame, because he has no qualms about putting even the most powerful politicians in their place.

    • I think he’s quite savvy in this interview, he wants to keep his job, for now at least.

He may or may not accept the IPCC figures he quoted (which we know can be pulled apart like warm bread), but gently beats Zion Lights (great stage name BTW) with the IPCC stick, to demonstrate just how far out of kilter XR claims are from anything approaching reality.

XR are a threat to the comfy mainstream CAGW meme precisely because both their tactics and claims are patently absurd and counterproductive. Keep it up, you clowns!

  21. Might be a new strategy.
It’s like an alarmist versus an extreme alarmist and the alarmist wins, that was easy to predict.

But the message they get across is that the alarmist is right.

    And that message is wrong.

  22. If ever a case was made that the Extinction Rebellion was a cult, then this kid would be a prime example of the following and how brainwashed they are. She was incapable of addressing any relevant points that challenged her beliefs.

  23. Advice to green zombies intel gathering readers: -Don’t mess with aircraft !

Eco terrorism is briefed as a very tangible threat. Quite a lot of airline dependent things would happen. Even the slightest attempt will trigger a set of actions including but not limited to this common core:

-Declaration of Level 2 potentially escalating to Level 4 threat.
-Mandatory emergency landing to the quickest suitable location, yes, even on short hauls.
-Immediate handling of the resulting situation by local authorities, might include evacuation.
-A complete legal actions pack including fuel costs.

In other words, don’t even try !

  24. The problem with all organised scams is the lack of punishment for perpetrating it. These nutcases get no punishment for spreading wildly inaccurate stories, they are not punished for disrupting everyday life.

Andrew Neil is on the few remaining journalists at the BBC. The vast majority who work there are ignorant yes-folks who could not interrogate evidence to save their lives.

They even had an ER spokesman on Question Time tonight. No Nigel Farage, but you can have an ER nutcase.

The BBC is funded by taxpayers yet tells taxpayers what they have to believe.

They need a severe shock to their very core, an existential threat demanding the implementation of basic standards of journalism.

    Do not hold your breath….

  25. Zion Lights: “We put a man on the Moon before we had iPhones and the internet”
    Alleluia!
it is interesting how these knowledge challenged people are quoting Hansen, Mann… Makes you wonder of the true connections between those rebel scientists (sarcasm) and those well organized mobs…

    • “TomRude October 10, 2019 at 4:20 pm
Zion Lights: “We put a man on the Moon before we had iPhones and the internet”

A statement that again proves how clueless zion l. is.
Their world is all electronics and immediate gratification. Instead of realizing that iphones are communications and the internet represents information.
Both of which were abundantly available when real scientists and genuine engineers planned, designed and built the moon shot vehicles.

Glib words and bland admonishments from a very shallow fool, zion l.

    • On Question Time , the leader of XR Rupert Read mentioned that he worked at the University of East Anglia. I’m sure I’ve heard of that establishment before.

  26. Everybody notice the pendant the young lady is wearing in the video? It seems to be the official ER symbol or trademark. It can be described as an hourglass in a circle. I have seen this symbol in other contexts recently. I took it then that this symbol has some very dark mystical or metaphysical meaning attached to it, similar to the pentagram.
Anybody have any ideas or comments on the symbolism of this “hourglass in a circle”?
Perhaps a quick history on where this has been seen or used before?

  27. Zion L looks to be wearing a synthetic shirt.
The zippers look to be metal, mined, smelted, refined and molded using fossil fuels.
Also, that ribbon holding her dried clay design is definitely synthetic.

The glasses are plastic and likely the glass part is also plastic, molded cut and polished using fossil fuels.

    Coddled idiots.

  28. Extinction rebellion zombie……”Extreme weather which may – may be on a downward trajectory but climate scientists are telling us will increase”.

Me….hello? Anyone home? I heard one being interviewed yesterday. They are still stuck on the 97% garbage.
I give E.R. 6 months after which they will begin to become extinct.

  29. I think it is interesting that two of the three ER demands are simply impossible , Not going to happen demands.
The people funding these zealots do not want the demands to be met.

  30. Zion Light. Reminds me of a bloke I met in California in the early 80’s who called himself called Baha Raja Rolling Rainbow Rivers. (not joking) He planned on starting his own private space program. When I asked him how he would finance it, he told me he was starting by selling stale donuts which he could ”get real cheap”….
He looked a bit like Charles Manson.

  31. The bit that amuses me greatly is that Andrew actually quotes from the IPCC reports when asking his questions.

Remember all those screaming alarmists who like to DEMAND that we listen to the IPCC?

Well… We did. And your holy book disagrees with you.

    How Dare Us!

Also I am not convinced young Zion is that great a presenter. She flusters easily with what should be her prepared slogans and has no counters to half the questions put to her. The other half she accidently agrees with by carelessly confessing that they are deliberately using alarmist panic to further their aims before finally going ad hominem with her little ‘man on the moon’ fact.

She was all over the place.

If she was the best they had then the gene pool of XR can’t be very deep.

    • You said “The bit that amuses me greatly is that Andrew actually quotes from the IPCC reports when asking his questions.”
      You are so right.

The IPCC does have some interesting information. For example,

on page 1010 of the IPCC’s WG1AR5, referring to the difference between models and the real world shown in Figure 11.25, it says “Possible reasons why the real world might depart from this range include”… “the possibility that model sensitivity to anthropogenic forcing may differ from that of the real world”

They are saying the models and the real world may have different sensitivities.

I doubt Zion is aware of what this means.

    • I used to quote the IPCC and link to a reference when I commented on the Guardian.
So they banned me repeatedly. On appeal I was always re-instated (as heresy is not an official misdemeanour by the Guardian rules).

But I have up commenting as the comments were always deleted with no sign they had even existed and thus I was left looking like an idiot with no answer to the crazies.

  32. These are more or less the same people who gave us something called “Occupy” a few years ago. Where’s that movement now? I submit that the same fate awaits ER. The proletariat are not yet ready to be liberated.

And it will do a lot to discredit the whole climate mission. Maybe. We can hope.

    • ”And it will do a lot to discredit the whole climate mission. Maybe. We can hope.”

Absolutely it will….and it will rather satisfying to watch.

  33. WUWT Readers
Stuart Basden…Co Founder of ER has an article at Medium.com…jan. 11 in which this A Grade Ratbag blatantly tells the truth about ER or XR. The name of the article is…….. Extinction Rebellion isn’t about the Climate….

It is virtually boasting that Climate is NOT the main issue but is a symptom of all that is wrong…and has been wrong…and will always be wrong… about The West and Capital….

snippets….The delusion of white-supremacy centres whiteness and the experience of white people, constructing and perpetuating the myth that white people and their lives are somehow inherently better and more valuable than people of colour…….

.The delusions of hetero-sexism/heteronormativity propagate the idea that heterosexuality is ‘normal’ and that other expressions of sexuality are deviant.

…….The delusions of class hierarchy uphold the theory that the rich elite are better/smarter/nobler than the rest of us, and make therefore better decisions…….

….. The task of Extinction Rebellion is to dispel these delusions. We need to cure the causes of the infection, not just alleviate the symptoms. To focus on the climate’s breakdown (the symptom) without focusing attention on these toxic delusions (the causes) is a form a denialism. Worse, it’s a racist and sexist form of denialism, that takes away from the necessary focus of the need for all of us to de-colonise our selves……

This organisation has …Tell The Truth…as its Number 1 Demand…yet it is lying through its back teeth that it is a Climate Concern organisation.

  34. From her Wiki page: “Lights is an outspoken science advocate and skeptic.” She must be hiding under a bushel.

  35. ATheoK…
my favourite Moon rocket was Apollo Solar 1…Yours?
Not that this should be seen as a criticism of Gemini Wind 1.
It was a peach but the solar powered Apollo 1 was just The Ants Pants.
Apollo 11 Saturn V…the one that got Armstrong, Collins and Aldrin to the Moon…
Massively fossil fuelled and over rated Dudes.
Tell The Truth about Apollo Solar 1 and Gemini Wind 1.

  36. This is war of words. Rebellions are supporters of the ruling elite. I would call Nigel Farage a rebellion, not the young on the streets. Extinction is 0,5 C rise in temperature and millimeters of sea level rise.

Solution is austerity measures and increased costs for the sheeple so that more money can be given to the ruling class. Existential threat is given as justification for subsidies, wealth transfers, regulations, entitlements that end up to pockets of the ruling class.

This is also a obedience school. The sacrifice is at first small like plastic bags and additions to electricity bill. When people obey, more is coming. Just look at Eastern Europe before EU, Venezuela.

  37. I watched this interview live. I try and watch Andrew Neil whenever I can. At the end of this interview I was frustrated that he didn’t have an hour to grill her. I hope she accepts his invitation to come back and do another. I doubt she will.

  38. Andrew Neil is the last holdout at the BBC, this single interview is completely a-typical of BBC output and was completely undone by Question Time given over to XR ‘unchallenged’ shortly afterwards.

Neil is actually very well informed on the science and politics of CC but he has to constantly pull his punches, far from shredding the XR talking head, he has to walk a fine line in order to stay on the air and not be sent on a BBC CC re-education course!

    • In the days when I watched The Daily Politics on the BBC it was very noticeable that Neil was not involved in any story about “Climate Change”, either he was forbidden by the management, or he excused himself. That is the problem with “right-wing” people … too much integrity, they play fair, unlike lefties, who are incapable of hiding their own views.

  39. Never underestimate the power of serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. I’m certain this blithering idiot obsessively looks at her iPhone every 20 seconds, going from Twitter to Facebook to Instagram and back, over and over, like a lab rat in a Skinner box, pushing a lever to deliver a tiny jolt to the pleasure center of its tiny rat brain. This is her Big Moment. She got all dressed up. She’s on TV. All the lights, cameras, and attention are focused on her. It’s all she ever wanted and dreamed about. Maybe now she will be happy. But no, it’s over. The lights are off. Cameras, too. Alone now in her apartment, again. Planning, planning for that next jolt of serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine.

  40. As a Brit I can’t recommend Andrew Neil too much as an interviewer.
The 3 questions I would like to be asked to any ER member are
    1. What caused the 130 metre rise in sea level after the last ice age
    2. Did they know of this rise.
    3. Could Modern Man have been able to stop any of the rise.

    • alankwelch,

Andrew Neil is a skilled interviewer as he demonstrated in this interview.

Neil did not discredit Ms Zion Lite. He invited her to discredit herself on the BBC, and she did.
This was clever because the BBC has a policy of promoting the global warming scare and Neil’s interview of Zion Lite successfully exposed Extinction Rebellion (XR) without opposing XR.

      Richard

    • Andrew Neil based his argument with Zion Lights around the contents of IPCC reports. It does not mean the IPCC reports are correct or that he agreed with them. But if you want to beat a zealot at her own game then use her bible against her whether you believe in its contents or not.

James Delingpole at Breitbart, who is no slouch, admittted recently that he had been taken to the cleaners by Andrew Neil in an interview because he had gone into the interview ill-prepared.

Every time I see an interview by a presenter on the subject of climate change I am appalled how little research the presenter has carried out on the subject. Each presenter comes across as lazy and disinterested. Andrew Neil is not one of them.

  41. 7 to 9 inches of sea level rise (SLR) per century is not half a meter if my calculations are correct.
That’s the average rate of SLR over the last century, and the SLR is not accelerating according to the DATA that I have seen….
9 inches is more like 0.23 meters. And 7 inches is more like 0.18 meters !!!
That’s no where near half a meter !
    Just sayin…

    • Saw this comment beneath the YouTube video :
“Sea levels in Sweden and the west of the UK are falling, the Maldives are doing fine, this sort of demagoguery is truly disgraceful, fear mongering at its worst. As Dr Patrick Moore, Green Peace founder, has said we need more CO2 not less, it’s greening the planet. 24% of the northern hemisphere is permafrost, the world is too cold.”
20 inches of SLR in the next 80 years is way off the mark (average)…
I’m sure she doesn’t know of Dr Patrick Moore or ever seen any of his videos. She has not looked at the actual observed data obviously, and if she did she wouldn’t understand it – (the data), just judging from her comments. – JPP

  42. She quotes Hansen and Mann which is laughable- Mann particularly since he has been exposed as a total fraud, which makes her at best an idiot. Then she talks about putting a man on the moon which- A) used lots and lots of evil fossil fuels, and B) uses science which ER seem to think is ‘false solutions’, so she even contradicts herself. Still, at least the ER troglodytes in our village can teach us how to make our own cleaning products, so all’s well really…..

  43. I can’t get over the picture. This is what purports to have the moral gravitas and the answers for running the world. The flea wagging the tail wagging the dog.

  44. UN to run out of money by end of month, secretary general warns.

The shortage of cash has meant vital staff vacancies have been left empty, travel limited to all but essential journeys and meetings deferred amid attempts to shore up the dwindling reserves. Staff have been warned there may be a default on salaries in November.
I don’t expect they will cancel the UN Climate Action Summit for 2019.

  45. Eat it up with a spoon gents !

What I suspect we’re seeing with Greta, and the XR idiots, is a rather subtle way of putting the brakes on Climate Hysteria. And whilst the child prophet and Ms Lights probably see the hordes of middle class followers they attract as being ‘Useful Idiots’ its entirely likely that they themselves are the ones playing the part.

I’d suggest that its entirely apparent to governments the world over that the so called climate emergency is turning out to be something of a Turnip Ghost, but the taxes raised on its back over the last 2 decades or so would be sorely missed. So the whole shebang needs to be deflated slowly pending the arrival of the next ‘Emergency’. Remember the the old chestnut from the world of economics, that recovery from collapse takes the same amount of time that the cause of collapse took to form. Following that logic would give governments 30 years to wind down the climate bus, whilst having another ready in the garage to roll out in say 20 years.

The direction of travel with the way the XR malarkey is being handled probably means that they will be lured into revealing that their plans are just a softer version of the vision held by Pol Pot, at which point it suddenly implodes 🙂

  46. I have been watching and remain an admirer of Neil’s take-no-prisoners methodoloy of political interviewing over the last twenty five years. However, as far as what Neil referred as the “climate change problem” at the beginning of the interview with the ER guest is concerned, Neil has changed considerably – from not believing the notion of human-induced global warming twenty five – to now believing the climate catastrophism that is relentless across British and Irish media. This has been apparent over the last two or three years. Even a paragon of objectivity like Neil seems oblivious that the emergence of St Greta and totalitarian anti-capitalist outfits like Extinction Rabble is moving the goalposts away from questioning the so-called science of climate to chasing unicorns concerning how much or little time we have left to solve “climate change problem”.

  47. Someone needs to make a futuristic movie where alarmists really do manage to get elected, disarm the public, and then proceed to kill billions of people. While it gets colder.

    • No movie, but Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle, and Michael Flynn wrote a book called “Fallen Angels” It has the fun stuff we complain about here, ‘watermelons’ who manage to create a dictatorship, complicit and outright stupid media. The kindle is available at Amazon for $5.99, while you can get it DRM free (meaning you can share it with whomever you wish) from Baen.com for $6.99

  48. The BBC still both justify and refuse to stop referring to those who question man made climate change as deniers knowing full well it is readily provable that the only other use is in the context of hard line Nazi extremists who refuse to accept the holocaust was real. in other word an extreme example of can’t fault the case so hit the speaker.

  49. What makes me laugh most about these left wing nutters is that when it comes to climate change they scream, ‘Listen to the science!’, yet on almost every subject- such as gender identity- they completely ignore scientific fact…..
