Democrats deliberately conceal global energy & CO2 emissions realities from the public

Guest essay by Larry Hamlin

The Democratic Party’s Green New Deal energy schemes pushing pipe dreams of 100% emissions free electricity in the U.S. by 2050 conceal well established global energy and emissions realities showing world fossil fuel use and CO2 emissions will continue to significantly increase in future decades regardless of the misguided, hugely expensive ($500 billion dollars per year) and incompetent (significant amounts of grid reliability backup fossil generation preclude zero emissions) GND energy proposals.

clip_image002

The most recent analysis of global energy use and CO2 emissions evaluating the period from 2018 to 2050 conducted by EIA shows the world’s developing nations controlling nearly seventy percent of all energy use and three quarters of all man made CO2 emissions on earth in year 2050.

clip_image004

clip_image006

These overwhelming dominating year 2050 levels of global energy use and CO2 emissions by the developing nations further increase their already commanding year 2018 energy use and emissions outcomes where about two thirds of all man made CO2 emissions and sixty percent of all energy use on earth are from these nations.

clip_image008

Despite the fact that the developed nations are forecast to see little energy growth and reduce emissions through 2050 from year 2018 levels and that these nations fossil fuel use is forecast to decline during this interval global use of fossil fuels are forecast to climb by 25% and man made CO2 emissions to increase by 22% during this period driven by the developing nations unquenchable thirst for growing energy requirements to improve their economies.

The developing nations are forecast to be accountable for 87% of all global energy growth and 100% accountable for all man made CO2 emissions growth during the interval between 2018 and 2050.

The developing nations are forecast to increase use of all fossil fuels including natural gas, petroleum and coal with these resources representing nearly seventy percent of these nations total energy needs in year 2050.

clip_image010

clip_image012

clip_image014

The developed nations are also forecast to use fossil fuels for the majority of their energy needs in year 2050 with nearly two thirds of these nations energy needs met by fossil fuels. The man made CO2 emissions impacts of the continued global reliance on fossil fuels (completely dominated by the developing nations energy use) for meeting world energy needs is shown below.

clip_image016

The Democrats GND schemes will cost U.S. citizens trillions of dollars and end up having zero results on lowering global CO2 emissions levels that are completely controlled by the world’s developing nations with these nations fully committed to continued and growing use of fossil fuels.

The American people are being deliberately mislead by the Democrats about global energy use and CO2 emissions outcomes and lied to regarding their phony “fighting climate change” claims because their GND energy scheme outcomes are irrelevant to global energy use and CO2 emissions results (global CO2 levels inexorably climb upward by more than 8.4 billion metric tons by year 2050) that are solely controlled by the world’s developing nations that dominate all global energy use and CO2 emissions consequences.

The Democrats and their media propagandists need to be held accountable for their deplorable distortions, deceptions and dishonesty in addressing energy and CO2 emissions issues with the American public.

Hopefully the election next year will provide an opportunity for addressing this failure of accountability by the Democratic Party to truthfully present global energy and CO2 emissions outcomes to our country’s citizens.

Good points, but energy experts (ahem!) have known these facts since ~forever.

Proof:

2002:

“The ultimate agenda of pro-Kyoto advocates is to eliminate fossil fuels, but this would result in a catastrophic shortfall in global energy supply – the wasteful, inefficient energy solutions proposed by Kyoto advocates simply cannot replace fossil fuels.”

Fossil fuels (oil, coal and natural gas) comprise over 85% of global primary energy – the remainder is mostly nuclear and hydro. Wind, geothermal and solar don’t amount to much, and neither do biofuels. It is ironic that so many people in the developed world loath energy companies, and yet fossil fuels are essential to keep them and their families from freezing and starving. Many Europeans and North Americans have bought into this irrational hatred – as they huddle in their homes during this cold winter, perhaps some of them will realize that rational energy policies and capable energy companies are essential for their survival. Regards, Allan

2015:

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2015/06/13/presentation-of-evidence-suggesting-temperature-drives-atmospheric-co2-more-than-co2-drives-temperature/

9. Green energy schemes have needlessly driven up energy costs, reduced electrical grid reliability and contributed to increased winter mortality, which especially targets the elderly and the poor.

10. Cheap, abundant, reliable energy is the lifeblood of modern society. When politicians fool with energy systems, real people suffer and die. That is the tragic legacy of false global warming alarmism.

2019:

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2019/06/15/co2-global-warming-climate-and-energy-2/

12. Fossil fuels comprise fully 85% of global primary energy, unchanged in decades, and unlikely to change in future decades.

The remaining 15% of global primary energy is almost all hydro and nuclear.

Eliminate fossil fuels tomorrow and almost everyone in the developed world would be dead in about a month from starvation and exposure.

Please go up to London tomorrow and tell the leaders of XR these facts. I am sure they will quietly pack their tents and go away.

Right – XR won’t clear the sites they devastated.

As always with “environmentalists” it’s on the executive and waste collection services to clear the sites they devastated:

I loved Roger Pielke’s analysis/prescription. The world has to build one nuclear power plant per day until 2050. It’s the only way to decarbonize that stands even a remote chance of working.

The scientists, who insist that the world receives enough sunlight to provide all its energy needs, have to be held accountable for their BS.

On diffusivity and green energy:

In addition to green energy’s fatal flaw of intermittency, there is also the second fatal flaw of diffusivity. The land area of the wind farms required to provide 100% of Great Britain’s energy demand would comprise about 10% of the country’s total land area – it’s explained at 1:58 in this video: https://youtu.be/viJ-Y4X-5zQ

In the USA, this 10% would total about 300,000 square miles, or all of Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, and more land and much more money would be required to provide back-up power for when the wind does not blow.

Equating CO2 with pollution is dishonest.
I’m a huge fan of nuclear power, but the goal of ‘decarbonization’ as something worth pursuing is a fools errand.
CO2 is a net beneficial trace gas that fertilizes plants, accelerates reforestation, and improves drought resistance.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

The truth will be soon be obvious, and when it is, the warmist liars house-of-cards will come tumbling down.

On May 1, 1945, the day after Hitler committed suicide, Joseph Goebbels and his wife poisoned their six children and then killed themselves. Too bad about the kids…

IDK, Larry Hamlin … you obviously haven’t been properly “educated” like I was at UC Berkeley where I learned America uses 75% of the world’s resources but only has 5% of the world’s population. Those numbers have been repeated over and over and over … so that every elementary school pupil knows them by heart. Knows that Americans are PIGS, and that we HOG everything on the planet … and that it is all because of capitalism. Which is why we have a new generation of voters who appear ready to put AOC in charge of our means of production.

Sadly, I expect to live at least another 25 years of this sh*+show.

Me, too. But that figure was from the early ’50s, when America’s industrial base comprised most of the world’s factories and US productivity was light-years ahead of the rest of the world (thanks largely to aerial bombardment of our chief competitors). US use of global resources was in the twenty-something percent range, last I saw.

The important takeaway is that US emissions flatlined from the early ’90s until about 2015.

When I saw the graph of coal consumption. I noticed that China’s consumption seemed to have dropped precipitously around 2012 on. I thought, “this doesn’t look right, are they lying”. A quick net search later and sure enough there were articles from 2015 stating that energy experts suspected China was massively underreporting their coal consumption.
In short, I believe the EIA graphs above are misleadingly sanguine.

Next you’ll ask us to believe that they vastly misreport how many people they put into work camps!

Which begs the question why are they building so many Coal power plants? Admittedly, these new plants are the newest Enhanced Ultra Super Critical coal plants that have lower emissions than gas, but that should just shift the present Gas consumption to Coal. Or, are they assuming a decrease in manufacturing and public consumption?

“Global Warming” never has been nor will it ever be about reducing CO2 emissions.

CAGW has always been and will continue to be about the destruction of free-market economies, stealing and wasting $10’s of trillions from taxpayers, globalization, centralizing government power, vastly increasing the size and scope of government, and vastly curtailing individual freedoms and rights.

Fortunately, this silly and dangerous CAGW scam has already been completely disconfirmed by empirical evidence, which clearly show all the inane and dire CAGW predictions are utterly devoid from reality.

Hopefully, the CAGW scam will backfire against the Left and people will finally realize that Leftist ideology is an evil and immoral construct which can never be trusted or supported.

We’ll see soon enough…

“The American people are being deliberately mislead…”

No they aren’t. The people who know better . . . know better. The people who don’t . . . don’t.

Some are all in on the AGW scam for money. Some are in it for power. Others for fame, prestige, a sense of purpose. Some (like Greta) are predisposed due to mental illness and abuse. But few, other than young children and the mentally feeble, are being “misled.” They see and hear what they want to see and hear. They believe what they want to believe.

AGW is an iteration of Ripley’s mermaid.

There is a saying I love. When asked what caused the low CO2 count for the US, its CH4, not Gore. In real terms te shale evolution has done more for lowering carbon than all those hyper-expensive measures of the alarmists taken together. Even if a couple of billion USD are lost in unprofitable shale playes, that small change compared t the trillions for renewable energy with much better results.

October 6, 2019 2:00 pm

When you do the math, you realize that to achieve Net Zero CO2 from all human activities by 2050 [The Green New Deal] will cost more than double the total Global GDP. Who is going to pay for that? How far will the world go down that road before they realize that it is IMPOSSIBLE?

The USA alone would spend a $Trillion a year on Wind turbines and another $Trillion on Solar panels just to provide Todays electrical needs. To achieve Net Zero means five to ten times that number as Net-Zero includes Transportation, Manufacturing and Construction.
Then you need to electrify 140,000 MILES of railroad track and probably double the rail capacity to take the added freight from the trucking freight. It has been over five years and California doesn’t have a High Speed train from nowhere to nowhere yet!
How much trucking, mining, manufacturing, excavation, MANPOWER does it take to build those Millions of Wind turbines and Millions of Solar systems a year for the USA, AND a storage capacity to provide every major city with just one weeks’ worth of backup battery power? How much FOSSIL fuels will be consumed in that effort?
Now multiply all those numbers by Five for the rest of the world, as the USA only uses about 20%. And if you feel the USA uses more, then multiply by the correct ratio.

Only one real factual answer – It is impossible. AND that reveals the true nature of this manufactured crisis.

The vast amount t of money being spent on wind power would be better spent on solving the current pollution problems from plastic and coal power stations. A solution is possible just need someone with the balls to make it happen.

Saw an article where an entrepreneur is making “fence posts” out of waste, plastic. Growing up on a farm these are perfect for fences and possibly pole barns. Using the nonvalue plastic and makes the sorting a non problem. Like this effort, logic has to be applied to recycling.

How exactly does the Democrat Party ever “get held accountable” for anything. That assumes that information relating to accountability is disseminated to the public.

95% of the Press are basically stenographers tasked with getting the Democrat propaganda out to the public each day.

Twitter is (a terrible) alternate media outlet but only a few % of the population follows the toxic non-exchange of ideas…as those few % “FOLLOW” almost exclusively the Tweets of those they agree with. It’s mostly an echo chamber. The hard core Trump followers are the exception…but they already hate the Democrats and their LAPDOGS in the Press.

The fact that few people trust most of the media nowadays doesn’t matter because only one message is getting out to most casual observers who still vote.

I love WUWT, but only a very tiny % of the population is exposed to the information available here. This site is an echo chamber. Better than nothing but it’s not ever going to reach enough people to “hold the Democrats accountable”.
