Bernie Sanders Demands Nationalization of US Energy Production to Fight Climate Change

Bernie Sanders indicates climate plan will require nationalization of US energy production

By Sam Dorman | Fox News

The “Green New Deal” proposed by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., seeks a complete transition to “energy efficiency” and “sustainable energy” — much of which would be owned and administered by the federal government.

During an appearance on MSNBC Thursday night, Sanders told host Chris Hayes that the U.S. needed an “aggressive” federal approach to producing electricity and nodded after Hayes claimed he proposed a “federal takeover of the whole thing.”

Sanders agreed with Hayes’ assessment that he wanted to create a “Tennessee Valley Authority [TVA] extension for the whole country.” “You can’t nibble around the edges anymore,” Sanders added.

For once I agree with Bernie Sanders.

Nationalizing energy production would drastically reduce the USA’s carbon footprint, if the catastrophic Venezuelan experience of nationalizing their oil industry is any guide.

Of course once a socialist has successfully expropriated the owners of a major industry, there is nothing to stop them targeting other sectors of the economy.

Bernie Sanders in 2011;

These days, the American dream is more apt to be realized in South America, in places such as Ecuador, Venezuela and Argentina, where incomes are actually more equal today than they are in the land of Horatio Alger. Who’s the banana republic now?

“According to Bernie Sanders, Nationalization of US energy production will give the government the control it needs to implement the Green New Deal.”

Note the use of the word “CONTROL” – that is always the leftists primary objective – CONTROL – despite the proven fact that they cannot competently manage anything – they are far too stupid and far too arrogant.

Regarding CONTROL: The ideological subversion of America by the Former Soviet Union is unfolding exactly as it was predicted, decades ago.

Watch this 1984 interview with ex-KGB officer and Soviet defector Yuri Bezmenov, who described their long-term program to ideologically undermine the western democracies. Jump to 1:07:30 for Bezmenov’s discussion of “ideological subversion”. It describes manipulating the “useful idiots” – the socialists within the western democracies.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3qkf3bajd4&feature=youtu.be

One commenter on the video wrote: “this is crazy, almost everything predicted by this guy is already happening.” Bernie Sanders, AOC and other socialist-Democrats are openly saying what Bezmenov predicted decades ago. The last democracies are under attack by leftist extremists.

All over the world, countries that once had a future have fallen into dictatorship, poverty and misery. It is notable that of the ~167 large countries in the world, most are totalitarian states, and all but “the chosen few” citizens of these countries suffer under brutal leftist dictatorships.

Radical greens (really covert socialists) have used wildly exaggerated stories of runaway global warming and climate change to stampede the gullible, in order to achieve their political objectives. The greens claim to be pro-environment, but their policies have done enormous environmental damage. Radical greens have also been destructive to humanity, causing tens or hundreds of millions of deaths, mostly children.” [Ref. 1]

It is truly all about manipulating the “useful idiots” – the deluded socialists within the western democracies – like AOC, Bernie Sanders and the majority of the Democratic Party.

History tells us that these socialist adventures end badly. Socialists Stalin, Hitler and Mao killed about 200 million people in the 20th Century, and lesser leftist dictators like Pol Pot and other Tin Pots killed many millions more.

When too much power is concentrated in the hands of too few, a psychopath typically seizes power and kills or imprisons everyone who opposes his madness. Stalin, Hitler, Mao and the other great killers of the 20th Century fit this description.

In his great book “The Road to Serfdom” published in 1944, Friedrich Hayek observed that “the abandonment of individualism and classical liberalism inevitably leads to a loss of freedom, the creation of an oppressive society, the tyranny of a dictator, and the serfdom of the individual. [Ref. 2]

This latest generation of delusional socialists claim “it will be different this time” – well actually, no it won’t. The killing of millions by the extreme left will continue – that is a certainty – that is the only task at which they excel.

It is really scary to think that there is even a smidgeon of support for the kind of unbridled socialism that Bernie Sanders promotes. Luckily, it is a non starter in the USA and his crazy AOC type of socialist nut bar policies only serve to divide the Democrat Party. It really looks like they will implode again, guaranteeing a win for President Trump to achieve a second term.

Hillary Clinton came within a few thousand votes in a few states of becoming President.

Socialism is far from a non-starter in the US. Probably at least a third of the population can be relied on to vote Democrat, plus all the dead people and illegals who always vote Democrat, so it doesn’t take many more to elect a socialist government.

Somehow, I just don’t think Bernie would win against Trump in 2020, especially as he is a real hard core socialist, not just an everyday garden variety liberal like so many of them.

But to be absolute sure, let’s ensure everyone in our families and circle of friends gets out to vote and doesn’t pick socialism as a form of Government. There is a lot riding on the 2020 election, maybe the most important election in a generation.

If Hillbillery had won, China would be calling the shots on trade and 2 more liberals would be on the Supreme Court, as well as all the lower court appointees. There are gazillion things to promise to spend money which we do not have on.

Bernie’s plan is to spend 16 trillion dollars over 10 years and he reckons spending all of that money will create jobs.

Sure, digging holes and then filling them in after will also create jobs but what does it accomplish.

Bernie’s plan will make electricity $16 trillion dollars more expensive and kill all energy intensive industry in the US.

We have reached the point where a majority of people get more from the government than they pay in taxes.

Any time you want to see who “those people” are, just turn on your TV and watch the videos of the week day (Mon thru Fri) “daytime” crowds of people that are out on the streets, etc., …. protesting, marching and/or rioting for “social justice” or whatever,

You know damn well that very few, if any, are employed by the owner(s) of a private business/company …. so they must be “feeding” freely at the government trough.

The “working” populace doesn’t have time for “daytime protesting n’ rioting” …… or responding to those silly telephone “political polls”.

That’s why most polls are always “slanted” toward Democrat “favoritism” due to the DHHS/couchpotatoes “voting” for the hands that “feed” them.

In the UK, too, about 43% [IIRC] of all earners pay no Income Tax, as they earn less than the threshold [£12,500 this 2019-2020 tax year].
There is National Insurance – an Income Tax in all but name – and that starts at £166 per week [about £8,600 a year].

Cutting the lowest paid out of tax may well have gone far enough. IMHO.

How ignorant of Bernie. Changing the ownership of energy resources from private sector businesses to the government does not change anything, except the government asserts control, as in the new CEO, Bernie? could dissolve the energy sector companies.

A simpler approach would be to legislate the private sector’s energy businesses until they are driven from existence, like the incandescent light bulb is gone.

It isn’t going all that well because the accident practically tore one of his legs off. Complications of the injury now include MSRA that nearly killed him last week had we not got him to the hospital on time. The VA is . . . well . . . less than helpful at times.

Anyway, his sense of humor is as dubiously suspicious as yours and thus your “jokes” had the man belly laughing for a good long time during our visit today. I haven’t seen that in a while and it was a welcome sight, to say the least. Thanks buddy.

Bernie Sanders has only one solution for every problem, more government control. Some would call that “socialism.”

If anybody can collapse the U.S. economy with his utter ignorance, Bernie Sanders can do it. He is at least as qualified to do it as any other DEM presidential candidates out there, if not more so. The problem is that once he is finished and the U.S. is in economic and social chaos, nobody is going to give a damn anymore about the climate and what it is (or isn’t) doing.

With MSNBC giving making itself a mouthpiece for Bernie, it should not be hard to figure out what the ‘MS’ in MSNBC stands for.

I am be becoming convinced that the only way to stop the growing socialist movement is for state legislatures to pass legislation requiring students at state universities to vote, choosing between socialism and meritocracy-based capitalism.

If they choose Socialism, that’s what they would get. Based upon test results, professors would be required to determine what the average grade was for a class, and every student would get that grade.

The Professors would be required to vote, too. If they choose Socialism, every professor would get the same pay, which would be the average pay of what it would be otherwise (football coaches would love that). The Professors must make their individual vote public.

If they can’t make Socialism work on a university campus, then they could not succeed anywhere. I suspect the experiment would only last one term. Whatever damage is suffered by the experiment would be small compared to the lessons learned.

Bernie’s light was fading amidst the crowded field, so he’s putting a stake in the ground to try to get some traction, IMO. A big gamble that I don’t think will pay off, but he has no other choice. It’s like when Beta abandoned Iowa (i.e., white working class) to focus on the hispanic vote.

This is the same derriere-wipe who participated in the ‘destruction’ of the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant in a brazen act of activist malice, social and corporate vandalism.

It was a national treasure, the ONLY nuclear plant sited next to a hydroelectric power source that had the capacity (and direct connecting feeders) to black-start it. In any scenario of downed grids and interrupted fossil energy, the region surrounding Vermont Yankee could have been a beacon of hope and civilization. Now that region of Vermont will become a feudal electric barony gathered around the ~35MW output of the Vernon Dam. Probably with cannibalism. Bernie did this along with the Ben’n’Jerry bum-wipes.

I so hope he wins the DNC nomination for President to run vs. Trump. It would be so 1972 Nixon-McGovern all over again.
And with so many still in the running, I really do think there are enough stupid crazy Leftists voting “D” who could make him their nominee since they know he was so cheated by Crooked Hillary and her team in ’16.

They say that Fidel Castro had a very modest income.
It’s just that he lived in a huge house, provided for free by the government. His food, clothing, utilities, everything else was provided by the government. But his actual salary was quite modest.

Of course morons like Sanders would take this as proof of how communism makes everyone equal.

“They say that Fidel Castro had a very modest income.” “They” say a lot of things that aren’t true. How did he and his children end up with all that personal property and businesses in a true Marxist government? Gifts from the people 🙂

Monopolistic control over any essential element in life will always lead to total control over the People. Next thing, Bernie will want an end to private property. As we all know, property rights are one of the essential pillars of human freedom itself.
The Democrats have a very bad record on such seizures – 1933 Franklin Roosevelt signed an executive order banning private citizens holding gold. They were forced to swap it for paper money that was printed by a private banking cartel when they were crying poor. The paper money was basically counterfeit money and the People were forced to trade their gold for toilet paper. The People failed to use the protection offered by the Second Amendment. Private ownership of gold was only allowed again after the US went off the gold standard.
Still thinking of voting Democrat?

All the people I hear expressing grave concern about income inequality seem to be pretty well-off. I always ask them if they have a household income of more than $60000. That’s the national median in the US. When (Not if) they answer “yes” I ask them whether they contribute everything over $60k to the poor. That would eliminate inequality after all. The very suggestion horrifies them.

How does this plan look as a way to combat BOTH GlowBULL Warming and the economic inequalities we deal with in international trade?

President Trump’s Global Warming & Climate Change Solution:

1. Place a Tariff on every country with higher emissions than the USA.
2. Increase the Tariffs on all of them until they match us.
3. Continue the Tariffs thereafter until the World Cools as compensation for our effort.

I think Texas would leave the Union over nationalization of the oil industry. They would do so because nationalization would bankrupt Texas and Texas does not want to be bankrupted by socialist fools.

Nationalizing the oil industry or any other industry will be easier said that done for Bernie even if he does win the presidency. Not everyone in the United States is as delusional as Bernie Sanders and the other Democrat Socialists.

They don’t have a currency. That is always the problem any time there is talk of secession. Lets say they want to export their oil. Instant blockade. Secession was tried once. It did not work out well for those who were secessionists.

And I lived in Texas for about forty years. Went there K-12. Went to law school there. Took oil and gas in law school and had to pass an oil and gas question on the bar. Worked for LaVaca and Exxon. Still own lots of Exxon stock.

Secession is a really dumb idea for any state. And lots of oil and gas won’t make it any easier.

How it works.
a Socialist government has nothing to win on making a person wealthier. Because then that person is more inclined to vote Republican. But by making a rich person poorer that person is has more interest voting socialist.

A Republican government has everything to win by making life better for all people as they are more inclined to vote Republican.

Thus a vote on any socialist is a vote confirming your lack of logic reasoning.

The Billionaires living and working in Silicon Valley made their Billions through Capitalism, but now they want to pull up the ladder to their Utopia and prevent PEONS from entering. Socialism provides that mechanism. They are protected from any downside of high taxes and compliance with punishing regulations imposed on the rest of industry by the loopholes their enablers in Congress and state legislatures and government agencies create for them and the PACs they create in exchange for BRIBES “political contributions”

There is no climate crisis. The climate change we are experiencing is very small and is caused by the sun and the oceans over which mankind has no control. There is no real evidence that CO2 has any effect on climate and there is plenty of scientific rationale to support the idea that the climate sensitivity of CO2 is zero. So even if mankind stopped making use of fossil fuels on a global bases, the effort would have no effect on climate. If we here in the USA want to significantly reduce our use of fossil fuels then what we need to do is gradually replace fossil fueled power plants with nuclear power plants but apparently that is not what Mr. Sanders wants to do. Mr. Sander’s trashing of the US economy will have no effect on climate.

Make no mistake here. Energy is the enabler of capitalism. The greens see capitalism as their enemy and openly say so.
When they take control of energy…all energy, then kiss goodbye to your freedom, because that is what capitalism actually is. It is the freedom to advance and secure your own ambitions, energy is the key enabler of that ambition.
The Greens/socialists do not want anyone to have independent freedom. For them freedom is reserved for the state and state authorities alone, that in their world view.
The climate alarm movement is nothing to do with climate per se, it is simply a tool adopted by the left to secure control.
Venezuelisation awaits the USA is Sanders or any of the other zealots on the left, get into power.

Nationalization of Energy resources and distribution is a page from the Central Planner’s playbook. Directly in the case of communism and socialism, indirectly by resource royalties, development permits, lately eco-regulations in the case of “capitalist” economies.

I live in “Bernie” country, ie Vermont. Shop for a few things at a local food coop, buy most other things in sales tax free New Hampshire or free shipping/no tax Internet.
Many Bernie stickers on all the cars. Very progressive area, all for open borders and paving over good farmland with solar and wind farms.
Absolutely disgusting.
Was at a local farm supply store and noticed a vehicle exiting the parking lot with the hand written “Climate Emergency” on the back window. Saw the young owner at a local grocery store and asked “Climate Emergency, what does that mean?”

Got the usual “We’re all gonna die if we don’t stop using fossil fuels” response, then asked how do you know that? The response was”The local paper and my support group said so, it must be true”.

At that point I gave up. These people are doomed, but sadly around these parts, they are firmly in control.
