Michael Moore-backed Doc, ‘Planet of the Humans,’ Tackles ‘False Promises’ of Green Energy

LOS ANGELES (AP) — What if alternative energy isn’t all it’s cracked up to be? That’s the provocative question explored in the documentary Planet of the Humans, which is backed and promoted by filmmaker Michael Moore and directed by one of his longtime collaborators. It premiered last week at his Traverse City Film Festival.

The film, which does not yet have distribution, is a low-budget but piercing examination of what the filmmakers say are the false promises of the environmental movement and why we’re still “addicted” to fossil fuels. Director Jeff Gibbs takes on electric cars, solar panels, windmills, biomass, biofuel, leading environmentalist groups like the Sierra Club, and even figures from Al Gore and Van Jones, who served as Barack Obama’s special adviser for green jobs, to 350.org leader Bill McKibben, a leading environmentalist and advocate for grassroots climate change movements.

Gibbs, who produced Moore’s Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11, didn’t set out to take on the environmental movement. He said he wanted to know why things weren’t getting better. But when he started pulling on the thread, he and Moore said they were shocked to find how inextricably entangled alternative energy is with coal and natural gas, since they say everything from wind turbines to electric car charging stations are tethered to the grid, and even how two of the Koch brothers — Charles and David — are tied to solar panel production through their glass production business.

“It turned out the wakeup call was about our own side,” Gibbs said in a phone interview. “It was kind of crushing to discover that the things I believed in weren’t real, first of all, and then to discover not only are the solar panels and wind turbines not going to save us … but (also) that there is this whole dark side of the corporate money … It dawned on me that these technologies were just another profit center.”

Both know the film is going to be a “tough pill to swallow.” It was a difficult eye-opener for them as well.

“We all want to feel good about something like the electric car, but in the back of your head somewhere you’ve thought, ’Yeah, but where is the electricity coming from? And it’s like, ‘I don’t want to think about that, I’m glad we have electric cars,’” Moore said. “I’ve passed by the windmill farms, and oh it’s so beautiful to see them going, and don’t tell me that we’ve gone too far now and it isn’t going to save us … Well, my feeling is just hit me with everything. I’m like let’s just deal with it now, all at once.”

It’s part of the reason why they had to make it independently. Gibbs said he tried for years to get an environmental group on board to help offset the costs, only to be turned down at every door. He was further disheartened when, in the film, he approaches people like Jones, McKibben and a local Sierra Club leader, and asks them about their stance on biofuel and biomass. Biomass, like wood and garbage, can be used to produce heat and is considered a renewable source of energy. It can also be converted to gas or liquid biofuels that can be burned for energy.

He finds every one ill-prepared to comment on their stance about the biomass process, which the documentary says requires cutting down enormous numbers of trees to produce the woodchips that are converted into energy. Neither Jones nor McKibben responded to request for comment from The Associated Press.

“I like so many people in the film and I’m one of those people who wanted to believe all of these years that that was the right path,” Moore said. ”(But) I refuse to let us die out. I refuse to let this planet die.”

They were even nervous to show it to the festival crowd, where they expected maybe a “50-50 response.” Instead, they got a standing ovation. And there were even members of The Sierra Club there.

Do you have any funny jokes?
Or even clever?

No one who is not a hard core lefty likes Moore, but this article is about an apparent epiphany regarding the green energy scams by one of the principle mouthpieces of the left.
This is exactly what we need to happen.
It is a large crack in the wall of leftist groupthink.

dan, maybe you could comment on the subject of the article then, rather than a general and irrelevant anti-Moore rant.

“It dawned on me that these technologies were just another profit center.”

Well done, so many on the left seem to think they can destroy capitalism by screaming about CO2. All they are doing is making perfectly good vehicles and home appliances obsolete for no good reason. This just creates new markets and new opportunities for capitalists.

Nice own goal. Thanks for screwing everyone over.

I think electric cars are great.I wish I had one.But the lithium batteries are limited.I hope they can improve them so electric cars could become more feasible for even long term driving without having to charge them every so often. Then again, you also have hydrogen fuel cell cars.Great things, but limited.Let’s hope they improve all these things for clean energy.

This is how it starts with ‘True Believers’ in Global Warming. Once they notice that something isn’t quite right, especially if they report it honestly, they begin to question all their premises.

And, when they start to be called Deniers they question more. While they may never become full-fledged Skeptics, it’s good to see the door crack open ever so slightly. Remember, it was only a few years ago that Judith Curry believed every word spoken by The Team members.

The knee jerk radical left wing politically correct liberal movement are responsible for one of the the worst human atrocities in history: The killing of approx.57 million unborn innocent lives due to legalized murder(abortion) that started in the 1970’s.This is just an example of the left’s evil policies and intentions in trying to destroy what America stands for:freedom, good values and the sanctity of life. Ric, if you really want to call out others on their knee jerk attitude, then please take note of what I’ve just written above.

“Haven’t the Republicans held office for about 50% of time since the seventies.”

The Democrats controlled the U.S. House of Representatives from about 1931 to 1995, with a couple of exceptions. During that period, Republicans held the majority in the House two times, once in 1946 and in 1952, and the Democrats won the majority back in 1954 and held it for 40 straight years until 1995.

Even if that were true, since the Supreme Court found a right to abortion hidden in the Constitution, there’s not much that Congress could have done about it. Any law they passed would have been ruled unconstitutional.

And you’d think the Democrats would have wanted to do something about it too, given most of those kids were black. It’s almost like reducing black birth-rates was the intention all along.

What makes you think i didn’t read the text first? Moore is the one who unfairly bashes those on the right. The guy’s gotta one track mind,a typical left winger of a movement whose goal is to create a socialist system in the USA,a system that history has shown to be a failure economically in other countries. For example,Recall France under president Francois Mitterrand in the 1980’s and 90’s who ushered in his socialist policies ending in complete failure, and destruction of France’s economy and the upheaval that led to the shutdown of the system due to widespread rebellion of the people (and rightly so)of M’s failed policies.History has shown that Socialism and communism have proved to be failures, causing much suffering of the people in Russia,France(80’s and 90’s),China,Venezuela,Ethiopia,etc.Now we have some of these radicals in the U.S. congress along with the politically correct jerks who are trying to change our way of life.We must stop them cold in their tracks in 2020 or else the USA’s economy will eventually collapse into chaos.Maybe that’s why the U.S.government is building or has already built all those many FEMA camps. There getting ready for something big whether it be civil unrest due to economic collapse and/or war or a catastrophic natural disaster.Whatever happens, the elitists are working towards their goal of a new world order or a one world gov’t in which our sovereignty as a nation and others will cease to exist and our freedoms destroyed. We must be prepared and pray fervently for God’s guidance and also plan for the worst and hope for the best.

Moore is not repentant.

He still needs to save the world somehow … he realizes that ‘renewables’ are not the way. And that realization is based on the fact that people are making a profit on the scam … but not that it is in fact just one big scam; if there was no profit from the scam, just harm to the people that he doesn’t care for, he would still support the scam.

Moore is a hypocritical piece of shit. A piece of shit that changes its opinion is still stinky.

Because you have not made one single reference to the article or what the implications of it are.
Which religion is it that tells you that you ought to ignore it when a heathen has an epiphany and has a chance to step into the light?
Besides for that…the green energy scam is among the most horrific aspects of the whole mess.
It is definitely the part of it that is costing people the most money and doing the most damage to our industrial infrastructure.
If the loudest bigmouth on the left has realized that a huge part of the whole CAGW scam is bullshit, which part of that makes you want to ignore it?
One thing is for sure…it is harder for a blind man to see the light than one who has sight.

Epiphany? I don’t think so. Read the entire thing.

Moore still mounts a vitriolic attack on capitalism, “big business,” and the “evil” Koch brothers.

Note that the capitalism in the “green” industry is not free market, but cronyism turned up to ten. So there is a valid point there. But the cronyism in fossil fuels is a five, at best, in a Republican administration.

What Moore is after is “green” energy without the “evil” capitalism. Still a socialist, still someone wanting to destroy the American economy.

Life in America is wonderful despite all it’s problems because we cherish our freedoms and our God given rights.Your reference to your country’s success is probably at the expense of others.Generally speaking, socialism and communism as well as leftists policies throughout the world are an utter failure.Take Venezuela for example with their economy destroyed under that fat head socialist Meduro. He’s a total failure and a phony.Let’s hope and pray they kick him out of there ASAP.He has no regard for the people whatsoever. Also,Take for example the collapse of the Soviet Union, the starvation of those poor people in communist Ethiopia, the iron fisted communist rule in China where there are zero freedoms. The list goes on and on.History has shown what a failure these leftist systems are.Don’t be fooled into thinking that these systems are a good thing just because you are experiencing, according to what you say,is economic success in your country.Under a system as your country’s,there has to be a price to be paid in the long run.Something that might end up being a scary thing down the road such as an economic collapse due to economic handout’s from Big brother.Big govt.is unhealthy for the economy and for the human condition because of out of control spending on social programs.Sooner or later,it’s going to catch up with you and lead to economic deprivation. Fiscal responsibility is the key to a healthy economy thru reduced spending and thru reducing the tax burden on hard working people.

Perhaps a certain kind of truth, e.g., when the truth (i.e., the “blame”) that contradicts his belief system can be laid squarely at the feet of “Big Energy,” he’s willing to accept it. He can still blame those dirty-rotten-filthy-nasty corps for soiling “The Green” in that case.

“Not so fast!”, however, when it comes to Statism as a whole for his theology. It seems to me the same or better evidence exists to contradict modern Progressive Statism as it does for his conclusions regarding Green energy, yet he holds to Statism by faith anyway.

Australias health system is similar
our meds are affordable our services wether public or private are reasonably good, excellent in comparison to ussa money or die system.
A heart op in july cost me nothing , not fixing it would have cost society a lot more for longer in a slow demise, lots of issues meds and care.
another upcoming op in october same story, and hopefully I will be well enough to do more than volunteer work around the place.
Govt investing IN health care pays off far more than the insanely costly private consortia run price fixing/gouging system in usa does, forcing people to take meds they dont want or need or no cover? thats loopy
we dont have people losing their homes to pay medical bills, though as your system IS creeping in for some illneses that is going to occur if we dont throw it out asap.
everyone paying 2% of wages to a common govt fund like medicare is far saner and effective.
I dont like communism but rank capitalism and the way so few get so much power and cant BE pulled into decent behavior is also NOT a good look.

HUTC,can you please tell Michael Moore the same since he’s always behaving that way towards the right wing establishment. HUTC,can you please understand that on hot topics like these,it’s inevitable that strong ,emotionally charged opinions can and do occur.People express themselves in different ways. But when it comes to a left wing stiff like Michael Moore who he himself is guilty of viciously attacking others on the right, then my attacks on him are warranted.

One of the best things still remaining in the USA is freedom of speech, which I’m sure Dan Cody appreciates. That means people such as Michael Moore are free to express their views or make films reflecting them.
It’s a great pity that where climate is concerned, more of those on the skeptical side don’t make greater efforts to enlighten those who have influence (media, politicians etc)

That’s easier said than done. Skeptics do make efforts to educate others. We like to think WUWT is part of that effort.

“THE ULTIMATE AGENDA OF PRO-KYOTO ADVOCATES IS TO ELIMINATE FOSSIL FUELS, BUT THIS WOULD RESULT IN A CATASTROPHIC SHORTFALL IN GLOBAL ENERGY SUPPLY – THE WASTEFUL, INEFFICIENT ENERGY SOLUTIONS PROPOSED BY KYOTO ADVOCATES SIMPLY CANNOT REPLACE FOSSIL FUELS.”

Wind and solar power do NOT contribute significant economic (dispatchable) electric power to the grid.

This is a simple, proved hypothesis, yet tens of trillions of dollars have been wasted globally on this green energy nonsense.

So next time, good people, please listen to your Uncle Allan, who cares for your well-being, and does not want you to waste trillions on foolish green energy schemes/scams – just to drive up energy costs, reduce grid reliability, and needlessly increase Winter Deaths – that is the job of our idiot leftist politicians – if you ever voted for any of these leftist idiots, please just do not vote anymore because you are ‘way too stupid to vote – thank you for your kind consideration!

To try to get this message across to the lower-end of the intellectual spectrum, especially our politicians, I rephrased the message about a decade ago:

“WIND POWER – IT DOESN’T JUST BLOW – IT SUCKS!”

“SOLAR POWER – STICK IT WHERE THE SUN DON’T SHINE!”

It seems to s-l-o-w-l-y be working! 🙂

Hi, Allan,

I quite enjoy your posts and mention you as an expert to whomever I meet from Alberta. I do hope you have managed to get an audience at the Federal non-lefty level leading into October! However, my reply is a ray of hope, by way of real-life, personal account: my wife voted for a certain, allegedly handsome, progeny of a former prime minister in our last federal election but is now firmly on board with a conservative political option. I have patiently, patiently discussed facts around so many of the worst Liberal policies and decisions we’ve seen in the past almost four years and now my wife agrees JT has been far more bad than good (diplomacy) for Canada. My effort to discuss these difficult topics was aided in large part by virtually all the contributors and commenters on Watts Up With That. So, to you all, many thanks for taking the time to contribute your ideas, research and wit.

Another Experiment Proving CO2 Is Innocent Of Climate Change
Published on August 6, 2019
https://principia-scientific.org/another-experiment-proving-co2-is-innocent-of-climate-change/
Written by John O’Sullivan

Independent British climate researcher, Geraint Hughes, author of ‘Black Dragon: Breaking the Frizzle Frazzle of THE BIG LIE of Climate,’ has developed yet another experiment to prove CO2 is innocent of climate change.

For those who haven’t yet seen Geraint’s impressive initial experiment, which successfully demonstrated that CO2 does not induce back radiant heating, take a few minutes to view two Youtube videos
here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgjT_665T6U&t=109s

Below are two photographs demonstrating the effects of an exposed light filament where exposed to a vacuum( left) and in a pure CO2 environment (right). As can be seen, the filament exposed only to CO2 is dimmer and cooler, showing that CO2 causes COOLING, not heating, of the air around it.

The light bulb experiment proves that CO2 is an active radiative gas. In a vacuum some of the energy from the filament does radiate through the glass, but it is a small amount. Vacuum is a pretty good insulator, keeping the filament hot.
In the CO2 filled bulb the CO2 moves heat, mostly by convection, from the filament and transfers it to the glass. CO2 also transfers a smaller amount of heat by radiation. The loss of heat makes the filament run colder.

The experiment is a good example of why climate modelers have so much trouble. It is very difficult to identify all the variables that affect how the climate works. What it shows is that they haven’t sussed to the facts that much of climate behavior is heavily influenced by turbulent flow which varies on every scale imaginable and impossible to calculate except under very controlled conditions.

And what the hell is a “chook farm”?
What is CAFO, and ASF?
Just for a sample of how this stuff is all small potatoes (and business as usual for the weather, but we all already know that), China may have killed five million pigs, but that still leaves them with 995 million pigs they did not kill.
How that is gonna lead to a food shortage would be interesting to know.
They have massive wealth in reserve, and can but five million pigs if the 995 million cannot breed fast enough to make up the deficit…but last time I checked, pigs breed faster than frickin rabbits. Average litter size for a pig? Ten. How fast can one female pig make a whole brood of new piglets? Three to four times a year! That’s right…one pig can AVERAGE 30 to 40 offspring in a single year.
I think they will mange.
If not, they can always buy the soy beans they previously bought from the US in massive quantity but now refuse to buy because they do not feel like halting fentanyl smuggling into the US, or stop stealing our intellectual property, or make a fair trade deal…and eat a little more tofu while they are waiting for the next brood of little oinkers to fatten up.

It is hard to stay alarmed when you actually take ten seconds to look stuff up…which is how long I spent finding out how many pigs are in China and how fast they breed.

Corrections…it turns out that actual pig farmers average 23 piglets per year per breeding sow. Oops. That is still a crapload of pigs. Sounds like a very profitable business model, considering they eat and actually like garbage.
And
-They can buy five million pigs
-I think they will manage.

That is correct, and they haven’t been hiding that fact. I discovered when I did research for a paper in an English comp class in `95 that they feel the optimum population for the world is 200 million. Oh, yes and they feel that all the Western states, with the exception of the I-5 corridor, should be depopulated of humans and made into a wilderness area. I think this has been expressed as the aim of Extinction Rebellion, whereas the UN seem to want a global financial redistribution from the developed to the undeveloped nations via such things as the carbon tax, but what is the pathway whereby such taxes raised in our societies find their way to the rest of the world. Are they collected in one big pot and handed over to the UN? I haven’t found a satisfactory explanation anywhere.
I certainly don’t believe the rich will benefit via de-industrialization, as that would inevitably diminish their lifestyle. So, what is really in it fort hem?

Occasionally you can count on Michael Moore to get something right. Whether I think his solutions are right for the working man or the human race, his milieu of interest in the plebian side of life made him one of those on the left who understood Trump’s appeal – not as if the beautiful people on the right got it any better.

Even now folks continue to fall for fake news on Trump’s formula as one of capitalizing on solidarity against the other, i.e. racism, when Occam’s Razor tells far more simply that he attracted heartland voters by expressing a hitherto politically non-existant empathy for that cohort who quite well grasped their status as deplorables before Hilary popularized the term.

I wonder when it will occur to Michael Moore that the market will better align corporate interests with a transition in carbon footprint than any government policy. Like Hubert, it isn’t wrong to predict such a transition, but the market will establish the timing – not hubristic . . . or is that Huberistic . . . determinisim.

The problem with Moore’s realization that government policies have not had their intended consequences is his tendency to double down on demanding more government policies. (when it comes to the degree of protectionism exhibited by the Trump administration, you might say that they could learn the same lesson. Although loosing the gordion knot is the best way to make American industry more competitive (and domestic protection, esp. with regard to China, may arguably turn out to be more foreign policy than domestic – if not economically rational in the abstract.)

The realization I continue to hope for is to gain allies like Michael Moore for a truce in the fossil fuel vs. renewable wars so we can go to war with the grid. It will remain relevant in concentrated areas but the worst of these renewable subsidies is that they prop up the grid rather than encourage technologies for going around it . . . think cellphones vs. landlines.

I agree. Moore is so relentlessly leftist, it can temporarily overcome his desire to suck up to the green blob. As “renewables” are a rent-seeking operation more than a practical power generation system, anyone as anti-capitalist as Moore will note that some people are milking the system for big bucks, and to Moore, that is the epitome of evil.

Brian,
To understand why Trump is doing what he is doing, you only need to listen to what he and his team say is the it goal: To end all tariffs.
That is not protectionism.
It is putting an end to past agreements wherein the U.S. gets the worst of all worlds.
As it stood prior to him taking office, other countries had open access to U.S. markets, and we were penalized so heavily we were all but locked out of those same country’s markets.
In the case of China, it was even worse: Forced technology transfers, intellectual property theft on steroids, rampant espionage o n multiple fronts, and no ability to sell into their markets at all for many sorts of products and services.
US taxpayers even subsidized shipping from China to the US , to the extent they could ship anything to a person here for cheaper than someone in the U.S. could do so.
Meanwhile, they are allowing massive quantities of fentanyl to be sent here, actively killing our people by the tens of thousands of year, and ruining the lives of many tens of millions more.
Last week when Trump out his foot down regarding broken promises made face to face with Xi, the media reaction was to ignore totally the fact that they had failed to even begin to increase agricultural purchasing or to stop the fentanyl smuggling!
Enough is enough.
The U.S. people are tired of being trapped in and walked all over.
Deals made decades ago have destroyed entire industries and the economies of entire states.
The thing about fair trade is, it has to be fair.
The goal is truly fair trade, and even handed free trade.
Meaning, no tariffs.
Failing that, we shall do unto them as they would do unto us.
What could be more fair than that?
Insisting on fairness not protectionism.
How and why is it only called protectuonism, when we call out those who have long been protectionist against us?
Everyone has been eating our lunch for so kong, people have come to think it is normal!

Being a local in TC many of us were, (are), shocked that Moore has finally shown a bit of candor. It helps to know that in the past few years he’s been knocked down a few notches by personal and professional set backs. Maybe this was his epiphany that a documentary film can actually document reality.

Reply to  mark from the midwest
August 9, 2019 9:15 am

I do not think it represent candor exactly.
More like an epiphany.
He drilled down into the actual facts and found out everything he has been told is BS, everything he thought he knew with regard to this subject is wrong.
That he did not sweep it under the rug is remarkable, and a credit to him.
The left, people on the left and the monolith of leftist ideology, have a basic inability to ever change their mind about anything.
So this is actually quite huge.
He is recognized, rightly or wrongly, as one of the most influential people in the world.
We need the left to come to realize they are wrong about wind and solar and biofuels.
If he is able to break the wall of silence in the media about this, there is an excellent chance for actual progress…things like ending the biofuel/ethanol mandate, opening the door to new hydro projects, and most of all, universal recognition that nuclear is the cleanest and the greenest source of cheap and abundant power that can be installed anywhere and anytime.
I think most skeptics would welcome a big push towards nuclear for power. At the very least, it would take demand and hence price pressure off of the fossil fuels used for power generation.
More broadly (no pun intended), if people start to realize that big fat lies are being disseminated and going unquestioned by the media, and accepted as truths by huge numbers of people, that is a foot in the door to breaking the whole edifice of lies, once and for all.

At least Moore didn’t drop the film but saw it through when it wasn’t showing what he hoped to find.

I would like see the film.

Manias end one person at a time. What they are doing is damaging the environment, in addition to wasting energy.

Germany has proven the green energy schemes are a scam, that they are fundamentally limited.

The Green Schemes fail at the point where power storage is required. Installing more wind and sun gathering at that point does not reduce CO2 emissions if the energy for the power storage is included.

Also the massive power storage will make electricity unimaginable expensive.

http://spectrum.ieee.org/energy/renewables/what-it-would-really-take-to-reverse-climate-change

As we reflected on the project, we came to the conclusion that even if Google and others had led the way toward a wholesale adoption of renewable energy, that switch would not have resulted in significant reductions of carbon dioxide emissions

https://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/11/21/renewable_energy_simply_wont_work_google_renewables_engineers/

In reality, well before any such stage was reached, energy would become horrifyingly expensive – which means that everything would become horrifyingly expensive … ….everyone would become miserably poor and economic growth …

Even if one were to electrify all of transport, industry, heating and so on, so much renewable generation and balancing/storage equipment would be needed to power it that astronomical new requirements for steel, concrete, copper, glass, carbon fibre, neodymium, shipping and haulage etc etc would appear.

All these things are made using mammoth amounts of energy: far from achieving massive energy savings, which most plans for a renewables future rely on implicitly, we would wind up needing far more energy, which would mean even more vast renewables farms – and even more materials and energy to make and maintain them and so on. The scale of the building would be like nothing ever attempted by the human race.

See the whole picture, not isolated fragments…

Point one:
There’s compelling evidence that advanced energy technology has been suppressed for over 100 years. when Tesla was shut down and his patents stolen. And other inventors since have reportedly met the same fate and worse.

Point 2:
Globalism is an eco-fascist techno-totalitarian world government agenda of energy scarcity; and the globalist philosophy is centered on the massive reduction of the world population, carved in many languages on the Georgia Guidestones, in case anyone’s missed it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_Guidestones

Point 3:
So why release the advanced energy technology now, when it can save BILLIONS of lives? You wait until the world population is at the ‘ideal’ number of 500 million, to create your ELITE ‘utopia’. Bio agents, anyone?

Contempt for humanity runs deep among the ‘elite’ and their flying monkeys…
“The prospect of cheap fusion energy is the worst thing that could happen to the planet.” – Jeremy Rifkin, New York Times journalist on climate change

“Giving society cheap, abundant energy would be the equivalent of giving an idiot child a machine gun.” – Prof Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University

“Complex technology of any sort is an assault on human dignity. It would be little short of disastrous for us to discover a source of clean, cheap, abundant energy, because of what we might do with it.” – Amory Lovins, Rocky Mountain Institute

“One America burdens the earth much more than twenty Bangladeshes. This is a terrible thing to say in order to stabilize world population, we must eliminate 350,000 people per day. It is a horrible thing to say, but it’s just as bad not to say it.” – Jacques Cousteau, UNESCO Courier

Actually the saying is attributed to Samuel Morse’s frustrated wife. Samuel Morse was this genius inventor who created the telegraph and who invented the Morse Code. It revolutionized world communication in the nineteenth century. But like many geniuses, in his later years Samuel Morse went stale and failed to invent anything new. His frustrated wife bought a house by the sea and hoped that long walks on the beach would inspire him to invent new things. But her plan failed and he never invented anything else. Which just goes to show that you can lead a Morse to water but you can’t make him think.

Really big mistakes , and mistakes that are hard to detect, are those that occur because the thinker assumes a basic fact which, in fact, is not true. In this case, the’fact” that CO2 will somehow destroy the planet (no says exactly HOW this will happen). Moore needs to question his underlying assumptions with some more “radical” thinking

This is the result of the mythology that a new form of energy is just waiting to be discovered. The laws of physics and chemistry were completed by the first half of the 20th century. They dictated where/what were the sources of energy. Environmentalist routinely and erroneously site the personal computer, cellphone etc revolution as showing that this magical stuff can be found. The first practical computer dates to the ENIAC of 1945. The difference now is minaturization no new form of computing

I rather doubt they will ever get on the right track with their basic mental flaw of focusing on boogeymen instead of good or bad policy, comparative economic policy choice, corp and public finance methods and concepts, and anything in engineering or non-agenda science. Think headline writers as movie makers or spin with film festivals.

I agree it is likely far too much to hope he will ever be an outspoken climate crisis skeptic, or even a silent one.
But there have been few signs of anything resembling critical thinking or independent investigation of the global warming mantras by those who have bought into the whole thing.
Very few people on the political left have come forward as skeptics, although certainly some have.
Pretty much all of them have instantly become pariahs and dismissed as deniers or some such epithet.
A few, Like James Hansen himself, who have dared point out that wind and solar are never going to replace any of the reliable energy sources, and spoken up about advocating for nuclear power instead, have simply been ignored.

Well if the luvvies and the film producers are asking real questions about climate, and the strange efforts being adopted by the Greens to mitigate climate changing (as if) then maybe there is a final change in the tide.
We realists have been labelled every possible derogatory name the left can conjure up thus far, and they have even invoked a child with issues as spokesperson to help them persuade us realists to get on board the nonsense train they have built.
With a bit of luck, we might here Prince Charles admit, his talking to the plants hasn’t been as illuminating as he had hoped….

This is insightful as to how liberals think. Call it boogeyman investigations inc. since they are so focused on individuals as being evil conspirators. The best example is the Koch brothers involved in solar PV glass. So What if they are the efficient producers of the PV component! They are preying on the ignorance of their audience.

There’s only one thing Big Green hates more than us sceptics – and that’s someone who has already bought into the Green scam being sceptical.

The simple fact is that since this scam started there have been over 1million extra winter deaths in the UK alone – a literal holocaust that is denied by those repeatedly trying to put up the price of fuel and cause even more fuel poverty.

Yet who is it that gets the “denier” label? … Michael Moore will soon find it’s him!

So w hat [sic] does he think?

Here’s a few notable thoughts from the director I found after a brief web search:

“‘There are too many people consuming too much for a finite planet to support. Infinite economic growth is suicide,’ he remarks. ‘We must take back the environmental movement from the corporate interests that have taken it over and we must convene and begin to plan how we’re going to humanely, lovingly, sustainably re-vision how we live.'”

[Those dirty-filthy-rotten-nasty corps that provide jobs, thus income to individuals and products they can use for survival have struck again!]

“Gibbs’ prescriptions for an environmental turnaround include curtailing the world’s population, which is approaching 8 billion.”

“‘Why don’t we provide family planning to everyone in the world? That’s not even on the environmental agenda,’ he states. ‘Why aren’t we sharing our resources here with those people that don’t have enough so they don’t have to chop down a tree to live?… We need to change the laws in this country and the world so that corporations are not allowed to be addicted to infinite growth. We run the planet, there’s no reason they should be allowed to do whatever they want.'”

[We make it illegal for the rich to increase (or even sustain) their wealth, thereby destroying that same wealth that supposed to be redistributed to prevent the poor from having to “chop down a tree to live.”]

“‘The transportation system must be redesigned, Gibbs says, to cut dependence on air and automobile travel. He argues for urgent development of ‘high speed rail that will get us away from those cars. When are we going to build some ships that we can go across the ocean and not have to fly, that are comfortable and not these cruise ships? Nobody’s even asking the questions, how are we going to do this? So if you were really worried about climate change you’d be demanding that we have an interstate bus system and an interstate rail system that would plummet our carbon footprint, not more individual electric cars.'”

“Regarding population control, I asked Gibbs if he were not concerned people might accuse him of advocating the killing of 4 or 5 billion people.”

You can read the rest for yourself here: https://www.nonfictionfilm.com/news/planet-of-the-humans-possibly-most-bracing-environmental-documentary-ever-made-premieres-at-traverse-city-film-festival

After reading it, do you believe Moore, et al., have had the foundations of their belief system transformed in some way or other? If you do, why do you and how have they? Be specific now, since you’ve demanded it from others.

Sounds like he’s a full on dictator socialist, and wants to include the whole world in his realm of influence.

He is “now” aware that the environmental movement has been hijacked, something the conservatives have been saying for 30 years. But he’s finally figured that out for himself too. Which means two things, he doesn’t listen to people, and he accepts what he finds when he looks. It was his long held belief that prevented him hearing or looking. But when nothing was improving, he begrudgingly did some digging to find out why.

Hardly an epiphany, hardly a Demascine moment, but it is a huge step forward for someone like Moore, and more importantly, it is his own discovery of some truth.

I’m a conservative and I’ve been saying no such thing. Why have you? What I’ve been pointing out is the hypocrisy of Progressivism to employ the corporate partnership model to bring their goals to fruition. This, however, isn’t a “hijack” of the environmental movement (EM). The EM couldn’t survive without it.

What do you mean by “hijacked?” You almost sound like a “Mooreian,” in that you seem to be suggesting that the corps that are capable of building the products for this industry on a scale to keep up with the demand are somehow doing something evil by profiting from that endeavor.

Is that your argument? If not, what’s been “hijacked” and how?

Reply to  sycomputing
August 11, 2019 3:40 am

No, I do not believe that and I do not think I saw anyone suggest he is now a right winger, either of them.
Just that they have now done what few on the left have ever done, and none with an audience the size of Moore’s that are hard core on the left.
More like a crack in the dam.
He has found out that the “solutions” being peddled by what is supposed to be a world ending crisis, are not solutions at all.
Each of those points you quoted can be easily countered, because they are all either straw man arguments, false premises, or ideas that will never happen.
Reduce populations?
The left is actively trying to get as many people as they can who are from poor countries and breed like flies, into places with huge resources where they can do exactly that. Not exactly a recipe for population reduction.
We know what puts a halt to rampant population growth: Education. The growth of population is inversely correlated to the educational attainment level of women, to name the one factor with the best correlation.
As for the environmental movement, it is hard to know what his worldview is if he thinks that the greenies from the 1960s are now corporate leaders responsible for population growth.
The green movement now consists mainly of hardcore socialists, and have no coherent plan for bringing about any of their goals, beyond creating chaos, deindustrializing our infrastructure, making everything really expensive, and keeping poor countries poor.
Poor people have lots of kids compared to people with more wealth. Chaos and deindustrialization, if these ever become worldwide realities, will be game over for the environment. People are not gonna lay down and die, are not going to starve quietly, are not going to stop doing what people have always done. Lifting the undeveloped world out of poverty via cheap & abundant energy is the solution to environmental destruction.
Everyone in the world knows about birth control pills, condoms, and what happens when people have sex. “Family planning” is what people are doing when they are poor and having a more kids is thought to be desirable. What he is really saying, without saying so, is he wants people that he disapproves of to be forced to not have a family. There are few ways to do that in any sort of enforced way. Maybe he thinks a Planned Parenthood clinic in every village will do the trick, or maybe he dreams of putting chemicals in their water supplies to make them sterile. The way he phrases what he wants is revealing: “Why don’t we provide family planning to everyone in the world?”
HE wants WE to enforce HIS idea of how many kids a person can have on the entire world.
Hell…even China has now reversed their one child policy, so good luck to him. People in hell want ice water. They aint gonna get it.

His ideas about transportation are just batty. He, like AOC and her intellectual ilk, have exactly zero actual knowledge or understanding of the actual issues with the things they say will solve problems. People do not use ships to travel around the world because it takes a very long time and is very dangerous. Not like cruise ships he says? Then like what…cattle cars?
Good luck wit’ dat one too.
Not gonna happen. Who has a few weeks to cross an ocean for a vacay or business meeting? No one, that is who. Few did it when it was the only option.
Trains as overland transport are well studied and well understood. And there are some very fast trains nowadays. But they are really only a viable way to get around at a certain scale and under certain conditions. Do they really think the entire US can be connected by rail, and that people outside of densely populated area can use them for getting to work, or for travelling home for Thanksgiving? Someone needs to tell them about rails to trails. Or about the actual energy efficiency of rail vs air travel for travelling various distances and at particular population densities. No one is asking questions about how to get rid of planes and bring back rail and boat travel because those are awful ways to get around compared to how we do it nowadays…which is exactly why those methods fell into disfavor and the industries supporting them died out.
In short, these are people who do not know very much, have a controlling attitude towards everything, want to be in charge of everybody, think every idea in their head is a great one that everyone needs to get on board with, and are in various stages of ignorance about how things actually work and why human nature prevents the things they want from working the way they think they will.

No surprises there. Boilerplate leftists claptrap.
But revealing one of the big lies about the whole global warming scam, and taking steps to spread the message widely, is a big step away from what we have been seeing for a long time from these people.

If anything is going to change, it has to start somewhere.
This is a start.
Maybe.

BTW, I did not exactly “demand” anything from anyone, but I took your point.
Where to from here?

Where to from here?

You appeared to question the OP’s claim that if Moore et al., is criticizing the renewables industry it’s not because he thinks we should stop using fossil fuels. You asked what was his “‘real reason'” then.

Thus the following:

Q: Has Moore, et al., had a foundational belief system change?

A: “No, I do not believe that and I do not think I saw anyone suggest he is now a right winger, either of them.”

So you’ve cleared up what seems to have been a rather pointless question for you to ask, with all due respect. You’ve confirmed the OP’s point for him now, while seemingly questioning him about it then.

But revealing one of the big lies about the whole global warming scam . . .

Given the quotes from the director above, which “big lie” is being revealed in the film?

August 9, 2019 9:38 am

Well, I believe people can evolve. After all, there is the old quote, “If You Are Not a Liberal When You Are Young, You Have No Heart, and If You Are Not a Conservative When Old, You Have No Brain.”

Why? Acquisition of more facts, becoming more logical, experience. Moore just might be a late bloomer. Here’s hoping that one day he becomes a true, capitalist conservative by embracing free markets for resolving any future problems.

Otherwise, the conclusion he may come to is, the only way to “save the Eart and Mankind” is to drastically reduce the human population, the install a benign dictator.

It will be interesting to see which road he follows.

“It’s up to people who actually share the same values to sometimes call each other out and bring out the uncomfortable truths,” Gibbs said. “This is not a film by climate change deniers, this is a film by people who really care about the environment.”

I will start from the end sentence and go backwards…..

You started out as climate believers and ended as climate deniers. Sure you still care about the environment but now you understand that environmentalists have been bullshitting all along. That is what makes you a climate denier. You know they are full of bullshit.

But just because he’s ill doesn’t mean that he can’t recognize something that’s conspicuously obvious: Global warming crisis and it’s solution, wind, solar, bio-fuels is a perfect storm caused by political corruption and willfully uniformed voters. So truth can sucker slap even the most willfully oblivious.
Funny thing that, reality does not care that you avoid it.
but sooner or later you learn to care.
Gibbs and Moore may be finally growing up,becoming realists and doubting their own knee jerk emotional reactions.
Does happen, for pain and anguish caused by emoting instead of reasoning can truly roil your life.
Even a less than objective dig into so many of our government subsidized fads, reveals madness, destruction and tremendous waste.
Government bureaus cannot do what they claim, they create nought but chaos through order.

Alternate energy is a revelation of the interface between, delusion, virtue signalling, state theft and stealing from the state.
Take a stupid,faulty premise,add bureaus and faith….proceed to poverty.

When unobtainium is freely available society will be so much richer, free unicorn in every stable….
Magical thinking, wishful reasoning and wilful ignoring of reality are traits that human society has fought against for all of civilization, almost as if logic and rational thought are alien to our species.

But history indicates that every time we have created comfortable living conditions for ourselves,we then let our guard down and the madness sweeps our comforts away.
Almost like natural cycles.
So just maybe Moore’s trials and tribulations have gifted him a clue.
Society is not “improved” by deceit?
Not even the most “well intentioned socialist deceit”.

I want to see this documentary. Micheal Moore has no attraction in this household but we know that even he can have some good points to be considered:

From a place far, far away up a distant canyon in WA is our home. There are no utilities of any flavor except satellite connections, if that is considered a utility. We do get 1 bar of a 1x cell connection which can be used for a text, sigh…. And we could hire the PUD to install poles/wire for 1.75 miles of canyon and trees for a measly $250k. No thanks.

This is a prime case study for solar as there ARE no reasonable alternatives. We installed a 3kW system with a lead acid battery bank for low light conditions. Subsidies or not we would’ve installed our system anyway. We live here because we can as two retired and disabled folks raising a few sheep, goats, pigs, geese, etc. There would be no use for this beautiful land except for a weekend “roughing it” camping trip except for solar. But we don’t rough it as we enjoy most of the same luxuries a city/urban/connected home wound have except there is no A/C or blow driers around this house. We don’t save any money vs the grid due to battery retirement and replacement and, gasp, generator fuel to recharge the batteries when there is no or inadequate sunlight Oct through Feb each year.

Many solar installs, to me, don’t pass the sniff test. First, without the incentive/rebate they wouldn’t do it. Second, it may offset the power bill as the main priority but it doesn’t help if the utility provider has a fault. Third, the thought is that its “green” but I’m not too sure of that. It may be green to the owner not not the neighbor of the manufacturers of the equipment or the dumps at end-of-life. Fourth, for those that are grid connected it creates a major headache in load balancing for the utility provider and offsets revenues needed for line maintenance, repair, etc.

As said before this is a really complex matrix and is politically and emotionally charged. But sure thankful for the technology.

Add in EVs, windmills, etc. Its a crazy matrix. I love hydro-electric but that is politically charged. Also geothermal if available but hard to scale for a large output.

Mr and Mrs David Hume
August 9, 2019 10:38 am

But surely the frighteningly logical next step, if windmills and electric cars will not save the planet, is to ban the use of fossil fuels for any purpose whatsoever.

Climate change is only really a left-right issue in USA. On this side of Atlantic both sides spout warmist palather. For instance, Goldilocks, the new English PM (I won’t insult Scots by calling him British thinks combating climate change and Brexit are both good ideas while anyone with a working frontal lobe will see both as daft.
The brother of UK labour party leader is a prominent sceptic.
It is very positive that someone like Michael Moore sees alternative energy as a scam and an environmentally damaging one at that.

In reality both sides support CAGW in the US too. There’s talk on the right that CAGW is BS but when the rubber hits the road at vote time and awful lot of righties vote left. This is actually a big part of what led to Trump winning the election. For to many years the right as been talking the talk but their votes don’t back up their mouths so people voted in a non politician to see if that made a difference. Matter of fact the left has the same problem, Obama won on a hope and change message but unlike Trump he left his voters in the lurch like politicians tend to do.

My regard for Michael Moore has gone up sky high. It does indicate a degree of honesty not usually detectable in an unquestioning and immovable left that receives its wisdom, opinions and thoughts from their “betters” instead of developing them themselves. An honest and analytical lefty I can talk to (oh how I have tried to little effect with many).

I don’t think ‘Deplorables’ are in anyway more tuned in to analytical pathways to their thoughts and opinions. However, they have a short cut to the truth. From experience they have learned to be wary and sceptical of big plans that government has for their wellbeing and their futures.

I can see that the understanding by important lefties that something is gravely wrong with renewables as a solution to the CO2 “problem” is a loose thread to pull on to open minds further to the even greater deflection of “dangerous” climate change by powerful interests that serve the rent seekers in the renewable sector, and even more insidious global politico planners.

I believe Michael Schellenberger from the alarmist camp opened this well guarded secret gateway on renewables that Michael Moore stumbled upon. It makes sense that honest thinkers on the left are actually the key to bringing this whole sinister (and sinistral) house down.

All had started their intellectual life as strident Black vs. White types and all moderated later in life as the complexities of the issues became clear. He still accepts global warming as an existential issue, as does Shellenberger. It will be interesting to see if he goes the way of Shellenberger that nuclear is the only way out of the mind-trap that is renewable energy – wind and solar.

I hope that this revelation is significant in helping sway public opinion. There is nothing more entertaining than seeing the left respond when one of their own expresses views that contradict there own. Whilst the response to Patrick Moore was to try to expunge him from history the response to Michael Moore will be moore difficult. I can see heads explode as they try to prevent the inconvenient facts about renewables from the becoming public. Piercing the global warmists bubble is very difficult for sceptics but is more effective if done from the inside. Whilst I get some encouragement how we have progressed the fight against this warmest cult but I have been surprised at how few whistleblowers have been coming forward. Occasionally you hear a story about ex NASA employees or other insiders going rogue but the stories always seem to get buried quickly especially by the mainstream media.

Reading a JoNova blog on mismanagement and misrepresentation of weather data from the Bureau of Meteorology in Australia and clear evidence of corruption it staggers me that there isn’t an insider ( or disgruntled employee) in the know to spill the beans. If one multiplies the corruption at the Bureau a multitude of times around the world it is inevitable that whistleblowers will come through. I think that the process would be hastened if governments conducted audits on some of these institutions and prosecuted people for the clear manipulation of data. At least that would provide an incentive for people to spill the beans. As it stands with no effort by governments to investigate these issues there is a disincentive to speak out as the warmists are very quick to publicly shame, remove from employment, destroy careers of those that speak out.
Hopefully, this epiphany of Michael Moore is just a small step to changing public sentiment

He seems to have noticed that ‘green energy’ is just a big scam. This could attract the attention of leftist groupthink to what is the real problem at present.

He said quite a few truths within this video. I wonder if he will ever realize that climate change is a trillion dollar industry or that socialism always devolves into dictatorship.

I wonder if he’ll ever be remorseful about anything. Physics doesn’t give a damn about leftism.

This video is of course a edited version of what Moore said.
And it cuts off just before he got to the part where he launches into his “everyone who voted for Trump is a dupe” rant.

He’s right, but doesn’t personally feel good about it.

The difference between him and Hillary is that he actually knows some deplorables and has listened to them.

The far left has been baiting the public with the promise of renewable energy and now they’re getting Michael Moore to switch the renewable energy bait with the de-industrialization plan. The elites of the far left have a hatred for the middle class, and they long for the day when all of the working middle class “rednecks” in fly-over country with their fancy double-wide trailers and pick-up trucks are forced into a life of serfdom under the threat of climate change (“How dare the peasants not live in poverty”!!!). That’s also why the left hates nuclear power. It takes away their excuse for imposing their authoritarian socialist policies on the masses. They would rather risk the destruction of the environment than accept any solution to the issue of CO2 emissions that doesn’t involve re-engineering all of society to their liking.

August 9, 2019 4:08 pm

I have seen this “demonstration” posted a number of times as “evidence” that adding CO2 to the atmosphere and then exposing it to a heat source causes the temperature in the bottle with the CO2 to rise more than the one without added CO2, thus “validating” the current AGW theory. Would anyone like to explain what is really going on?
Greenhouse Gas Demo

A controlled experiment using measured amounts of CO2 shows just the opposite.
The CO2 Bomb

Another controlled experiment also shows just the opposite.

Well, I found the answer on a Green Education site warning about using PHONY demonstrations.

I would have to be considered to be a right winger in my thinking, but that does not, or rather should not make me think that all of the Lefts ideas are wrong, and that all of the rights are right.

Yes Mike Moore’s thinking is clearly left wing, but that does not mean that all of what he says is automatically wrong.

I her the words “”Anti American”” used far too often. Why not say that he Michael has ideas that are disliked by those on the right.

Its been obvious for a long time that the whole of the myth of the so called Global warming come climate change is a mix of those who want a world government , i.e. Communism, and those who truly are concerned about things that they think are a problem.

We should be more concerned as to why they think like that, which gets us back to leftist ideas from the Media and academia.

His exposure of the falsehoods coming from such sources is good, for
example the electric cars. Yes they do seem to be a good idea until one asks such questions as to where is the electricity coming from.

Another example of something which needs to be exposed is the fact that all renewable need a “”Back Up”” power supply. So how many people realise that we have a double power supply system, the pretend Green one the renewable, plus the older fusel fuel one.

If such a farce was exposed and people realised that they are paying
double for their electricity, thy would be so angry that it would be ended. Tell them that less CO2 from Windmills is more than made up for by burning the back up fossil fuel generation.

Not that there is there anything wrong with the gas CO2 in the first place, that is still the key card in the whole of the House of Cards myth.

We need Propaganda, not the NAZI variety, bit for the Truth, and if
Michael Moore can help, then good on you Michael.

Sounds like they did what most alarmists and greenies dont do, make an effort to scratch one or two layers deep instead of regurgitating dogma and prattling about “the Science” They may have red pilled themselves, partially at least. They still think there is a problem that we humans need to manage.

I wonder if has occured to them to use the same logic and back track into the IPCC and all their cronies and see what lies under the covers there? Heresy I guess.

So what has our Cultured Elite done in response?

Yup – gone on Twit to publicly declare they have just cancelled their memberships.

Who was one of the first do to so? To declare they were no longer going to a gym and fitness center?

Yup – our good friend Michael!

“Gibbs’ prescriptions for an environmental turnaround include curtailing the world’s population, which is approaching 8 billion. “Why don’t we provide family planning to everyone in the world? … Regarding population control, I asked Gibbs if he were not concerned people might accuse him of advocating the killing of 4 or 5 billion people. “Here’s the answer,” he replied. “By not dealing with this you are going to kill off 4 or 5 billion people.”

Greens want to kill off more than half the planet.

Michael Moore does not have much respect for truth when he’s on a mission to make a film with a message. There was a scene in one of his movies (Columbine? Sicko? – I can’t remember which) where he is standing in an urban park in the middle of a brand new mixed social/private housing development on a former rail yard near downtown Toronto – and he says “This is a Canadian slum” (the point being, of course to show how much more attractive and safe and wholesome it was than those nasty American slums). I know the area well, we even looked at buying a condo there a couple of times. Made me wonder how many of his other “facts” are that made-up.

On that basis, his respect for truth is on a par with the inimitable Gore.

But now, despite his bias against capitalism/USA/whatever, he’s seen the light about the green industry. Take your allies where you can find them. “My enemy’s enemy” and all that.

I’m curious to see how the left responds to this movie. They may take it seriously taking into consideration who made it. Nobody considers him a corporate shill with a vested interest.

On the other hand, Moore may discover he shouldn’t stand too close to a bus lest he find himself under it.

As I was reading the article, I suddenly thought that I had traveled through time to next April 1st. I had to recheck my calendar to convince myself that I had not entered a time warp. Once I realized that I wasn’t dreaming, I had to accept that several people on the far left have actually rejected the renewable Koolaid.

Moore’s motivation for making the the movie seems to be that he does not like the idea of evil corporations profiting from the renewables scam. However to make his point he had to open the curtain and expose the lies that the left has been spewing about green energy. Regardless of his motivation. Michael Moore is exposing at least a few of the lies from the green machine with this movie.

Thanks Mich, looking forward to your follow up recommending ending wind, solar, bio-fuel renewable subsidies, mandates and grid priority and your strong support for natural gas generation for the next few decades as we transition to nuclear.

““It turned out the wakeup call was about our own side,” Gibbs said in a phone interview. “It was kind of crushing to discover that the things I believed in weren’t real,…”

Hmm, he should start looking at “climate change” in the same manner.

Peter Wood
August 10, 2019 12:36 pm

I bought into the whole global warming pitch until James Corbett (Corbett Report) exploded it and forced me to look harder. There are many credible climatologists like Dr. Judith Curry (Georgia Tech) and atmospheric scientist Dr. Richard Lindzen (MIT) who point out the dubious nature of the pronouncements by the IPCC “experts” – their failure to account for the effect of what is the principal greenhouse gas, water vapor, while elevating CO2, the tiny greenhouse fraction that might conceivably (under some models) contribute (in some hypothetical degree) to warming. Today on NPR it was announced that” July 2019 was the warmest in human history.” That kind of hyperbolic (and arguably false) claim is typical of the nonsense we are told about “climate change” – as if climate cycles haven’t occurred through recorder history.

“We all want to feel good about something like the electric car, but in the back of your head somewhere you’ve thought, ’Yeah, but where is the electricity coming from? ”

It only took them about 25 years to figure that out? Coming soon: “CO2 is actually beneficial to the environment!”.

7 billion people on a planet that will soon only be able to support 3 billion, and people are discussing the right, the left, economics, windmills, elections, oil company profits and Michael Moore’s weight.
Forget about saving the planet; it will heal itself after we’re gone. In the end it’s about saving ourselves. It could be said that we’ll get what we deserve, but really we’re just doing what any dominant species would do given the chance. Humans aren’t nearly as smart as we think we are.
Nature bats last. It will deal with us and it won’t be pretty when it does.

7 billion people on a planet that will soon only be able to support 30 billion..FIFY….I’m sure you inadvertently left off the ZERO.

Production Capacity is growing exponentially, and we have no idea how much more it will increase as technology advances. People are starving only because of politics and artificial barriers to producing and transporting food to them and due to converting food into useless, inefficient, damaging, polluting FUEL and plowing food under and …..not because we can’t produce enough.

Thanks for Fixing It For Me. Just adding a zero on a page doesn’t fix anything. That’s what economists do.

30 billion people… won’t that be fun!! Where do you propose we put the other 8 million species we share the planet with? That’s our problem, we’re focused on growth instead of balance. As the dominant species we are clearly unable to evolve to be able to manage our numbers. And as I pointed out, the planet will balance things for us whether we like it or not.

OK, so my number is a little high, I just used GlowBULL Warming Math and the underlying graph extrapolation techniques, especially Michael Mann’s Magical “Horse Hockey Stick Trick.”

Seriously, the Earth can easily support a huge increase in the population of virtually all species, although they don’t all grow at the same rate. There are VAST expanses of empty, habitable land, islands, you name it all over the Earth, and I don’t mean Siberia or Antarctica. I used to marvel at the emptiness as I flew over places all over the world and wondered why there is such a clamor for reducing the population. I almost felt I was alone flying over the emptiness for hours without a sign of human life.

So, when exactly is this “soon”? A month? A year? 10 years? And who is this “we”? Didn’t realise Humanity™ is a hive mind. Though that would explain the voices in my head.

It’s a bit confusing though. Like when I saw my aunt play soccer and she really sucked at it, and I thought “wow, we humans really suck at soccer”. But then I saw Ronaldo do it and I thought “wow, we humans are really good at soccer.” Some humans weirdly don’t seem to belong in this hive mind, like blacks and other minorities. Because when I read about these people commiting crimes, the response is always “Not all of them are like this! It would be racist to suggest that they are all the same.” It’s like they are treating them as individuals or something. But that can’t be right. We are all the same!

The problem is that most of the elites don’t give a rats ass about the environment. They have lobbyist to do their talking for them. What they do care about is their own investments in it…. Leonardo DiCaprio once flew 400 miles just to buy a hamburg while Barbra Streisand had her dogs flown 10 thousand miles to UK just to here her sing in concert in July 2019….during Climate Emergency in UK..

PS/ climate emergency was created Barbra Streisand in 2005

So if we stopped using fossil fuels would the climate stop changing ?
If the climate changed in unpleasant ways would that be ok as long as Volvos were gone ?
Did the climate change before the first Ford rolled off the line ? Why ?
Is a warming trend better than a cooling trend ?
Who would set the earths temperature if we could ?
If you can set the temperature as advertised by planet savers who wins and who loses ?
What about those peskie natural climate variables ? How do we control volcano’s and sun spots ?
Such deep questions or maybe it’s just to obvious a massive fraud .
