Drivers will be forced off the roads in Ireland and the population packed into “higher density” cities under a long-awaited climate plan which will ‘revolutionise’ people’s lifestyle and behaviours, according to local media.
“Nudge” policies such as huge tax hikes, as well as bans and red tape outlined in the plan, will pave the way to a “vibrant” Ireland of zero carbon emissions by 2050 according to the government, which last year committed to boost the country’s 4.7 million-strong population by a further million with mass migration.
In order to avert a “climate apocalypse”, the government plans to force people “out of private cars because they are the biggest offenders for emissions”, according to transport minister Shane Ross whose proposals — which include banning fossil fuel vehicles from towns and cities nationwide — are posed to cripple ordinary motorists, local media reports.
Launching the plan in Dublin, leader Leo Varadkar outlined his vision for an Ireland of ‘higher density’ cities consisting of populations whose lifestyles and behaviours have been totally transformed by ‘carrot and stick’ policies outlined in the climate plan.
“Our approach will be to nudge people and businesses to change behaviour and adapt new technologies through incentives, disincentives, regulations and information,” the globalist prime minister said.
“We are going to change how electricity is produced and consumed, how our homes and workplaces are heated; the way we travel; the types of vehicles we purchase; and how food is produced.

That’s been happening for some time when cars could return more than 10mpg. I was told the same when I travelled in Ireland in the 90’s with a Landrover (About 25mpg and only a 10 gallon tank). And too in New Zealand in the mid 90’s.

If this plan is put into effect, Ireland will no longer fit under the definition of a “democracy”.
A significant number or Irish people are leaving the country however the population is being replaced. You don’t see mass protests like in France because the people likely to lead these are gone. A large portion of the remaining native population relies on welfare programs and are economically inactive and not likely to rock the boat. Employment for those that stay revolves around the multinational companies. One of the consequences of the restrictions of H1B1 visas to the US is the American MNCs are importing that labor to Ireland and that is one of several factors pushing up rental and property prices here. It is not only native Irish families who are squeezed out, non-native people who try to rear families are feeling the effect as well and the middle class is slowly moving away just like in California. So overall the economically active population in the private sector is mobile.
Another factor given the dominance of the MNCs and American culture on both Irish and English Universities is the wholesale importation of the diversity inclusion equity social justice ideology which has seen politics shift from right of center populism to full on cultural Marxism which dominates politics in this country.
There are a number of factors though that will rip this apart.
1. Low interest rates have hidden the enormous national debt which ballooned in the wake of the 2008 North Atlantic banking collapse. That debt was offloaded by the state onto the backs of its taxpayers, if they did not the retired welfare class who vote en masse would have lost everything.
2. An artifact of the low interest rates has been the collapse in the bond market that has to be supported by the ECB combined with the collapse of the property bubble and bankruptcy of the firms involved has meant large chunks of property have been sold to foreign investors/pension funds who can earn a good rental yield compared to returns on bonds.
3. The primary driver behind this green policy is to be seen by the EU technocrats as being green and avoid the fines threatened by the EU for not meeting the targets that a previous generation of politicians signed the country up to. The govern-mint class does not like to rock the boat, their good fortune depends on the EU and they don;t want to rock the boat.

Looking at this through the wrong end of the telescope, its clear that the whole ‘Climate Emergency’ malarkey is impossible to disprove for most people by the use of common sense, so could it be that the Irish G is adopting the tack of bringing home to folk just what it would mean to the man on the Cork omnibus ?
Clearly the thought of replacing all IC vehicles with electric in a decade is beyond delusion, and will result going forward in shed loads of people either expressing resentment at being stuck with unusable items for which they spent thousands, or as noted above, folk holding off purchases. Both possibilities must be the worst scenario’s possible if presented to the boardrooms of motor manufacturers, on whom much of the western economy is dependant.
The only way that one could possibly ameliorate the vast numbers of potentially pissed off punters, would be for the G to effectively pay for everybody to switch to electric, maybe buy handing in an IC vehicle ? And I’d have great doubts if there is enough money in Ireland, or anywhere else, for such a magic trick to be pulled off ?
All of the foregoing does not even take into account the fact that electric vehicles have yet to become available in any range of choice, with those that are available tending to be in the upper segment of the market. And also the fact that a total switch to electric must involve maybe a doubling of generation infrastructure at a time when (in Europe) the energy utilities are in no position to invest in projects that require a payback time of up to 30 years or more.
So all in all, another version of Mao’s trick of scaring off Starlings 🙂

Suppose your car runs out of battery power 20 miles from the nearest charging station? What are you supposed to do? Suppose your tractor runs out of battery power in the middle of an 80 acre field miles from the nearest charging station? What are you supposed to do? Today you can go to the nearest farmhouse and get a can of gasoline or diesel fuel and get yourself to a refueling station. How are you supposed to recharge your vehicle when you are stuck in the middle of nowhere?

It is impossible for basic engineering and economic reasons to get to zero carbon emissions using sun and wind gathering. Germany has proven that. Germany has substantially reduce subsides and increased the separation distance of wind farms from residents as CO2 emissions did not drop as more wind farms were installed. (i.e. Germany has reached the point where energy storage is required, 29,000 wind turbines.)
Those schemes fail at the point where electricity storage is required and when the super high electrical prices kill all local industry that requires heat or electricity.

You force the population to live without cars on more expensive, less reliable energy while the economy tanks because most of the companies that went to Ireland due to low taxes are forced out. There is no way droves of immigrants will want to live there. Actually destroying your economy is a great way to discourage immigration.

Unfortunately Donb the Irish electorate have changed from a hard-hearted, relatively pragmatic Catholic country into a virtue signalling, ‘progressive’ pack of politically sheep. Literally, no politician or media person has bothered to investigate the science, so called, of climate. Hardly a day goes by when the “97% of scientists” meme is not trotted out in political or media platforms. Last week I heard a well-regarded radio and Tv anchor put a loaded question to a like-minded left-orientated guest that to prevent this planet “boiling to death in fifteen years” we must ban the burning of fossil fuels by 2030. Increasingly, the vast majority in the First World, rather than merely a significant minority that was the case even twelve months ago, have swallowed hook, line and sinker the bogus confection that is the new ‘science’.

There is a point if you realise a group of nutters have taken control of the aeroplane … that you have to decide to physically wrestle for the controls before they fly the plane into some building.
A more realistic plan would be first to build nuclear power plants to supply the bulk of Ireland’s energy needs. They next need to develop and manufacture their own all electric cars, trucks, and trains. The government needs to pay its people to convert to all electric appliances including heating and cooking to electrical appliances. How much do they think all of this is going to cost? I would think that global warming would make Ireland a better and more productive place to live. The additional CO2 allows plants to grow faster and hence boosts Ireland’s agriculture output.
The reality is that the climate change we have been experiencing is caused by the sun and the oceans over which mankind has no control. Despite the hype, there is no real evidence that CO2 has any effect on climate and there is plenty of scientific rationale to support the idea that the climate sensitivity of CO2 is zero. If Ireland eliminated all burning of fossil fuels it would have very little effect on the over all radiant greenhouse effect which is dominated by H2O. What Ireland wants to do would have no effect on global climate but would most likely ruin Ireland economically. What Ireland should be doing is improving the economy so that Ireland would have more money to spend on infrastructure that will guard against the ravages of extreme weather events. People may not want to live all crowed together and have their freedoms taken away. Crowding everyone together will make everyone more susceptible to fast spreading diseases.
If this madness should continue, then expect to see the voters of Ireland
voting to join the UK in leaving the EU.
That would solve the present problem over the border between the two

I lived in Ireland in the late 70’s early 80’s, it was a depressing place. As an adult, if you had work it wasn’t too bad. If you didn’t work for the local council, schools, CIE, Waterford crystal (Factory long since razed) or somehow in the Church you didn’t work. Then in the late 80’s and early 90’s billions of Euros were invested in Ireland. The Irish implemented business friendly policies and taxes so much so many multinational HQ’s were setup there in Dublin. This proposal suggests the Irish leaders want to return to those depressing, desperate days.

Ireland declared a climate emergency. I published this document over a year ago and have tried to publicize it as much as possible but to little avail -as you can see. No one here is interested in the truth. They like this batsh!t crazy plan – but only as long as it doesn’t affect them and their choices. It honestly feels like the entire country is experiencing a collective nervous breakdown. Barefaced hypocrisy is socially acceptable and you dare not call people out for it. A lot of silly people posting here seem to have Darby O’Gill and the Little People (1959 movie) level of knowledge of Ireland.
The climate plan was released from the ruling center right party, which holds power in minority, and is propped up by the other main party, also a center right party. (although a lot of newer policy’s for both parties are more left these-days) All of the opposition are left or hard left and the fascist greens which say there are left.
This climate plan has been brought in by the ruling party due to the green vote in recent elections, 5% in national elections (up 2.5%, since last election), 10% in EU elections and wanting to kiss the backside of the EU and UN. All the other political parties are currently trying to out green each other and the greens. The people have no choice in voting anyone else in at present as all the parties have gone green, only a few sane independents remain green free.
Now the climate plan has been rubbished yet welcomed by the Green Party as words only and no action, while the rural population is angry as hell at the ruling party over this plan. The only people in Ireland pleased with the plan are rich young urban yuppies in south Dublin, and the National Media(bias green left), but I doubt that will be the case when the rural population start living in their gardens, parks and other city green areas if the plan is acted on. Which will not happen as the rural farming community in Ireland has a lot of political power, and even a lot of urban dwellers will fight the tax implications of the plan.
One last thing, its spelled Éire not Eire and only if writing in Irish, it’s Ireland if written in English. Just like Deutschland is Germany in German, or Germany if written in English.
