‘Climate Emergency’: Ireland Set to Ban Private Cars While Planning Mass Third World Migration

From Breitbart

Drivers will be forced off the roads in Ireland and the population packed into “higher density” cities under a long-awaited climate plan which will ‘revolutionise’ people’s lifestyle and behaviours, according to local media.

“Nudge” policies such as huge tax hikes, as well as bans and red tape outlined in the plan, will pave the way to a “vibrant” Ireland of zero carbon emissions by 2050 according to the government, which last year committed to boost the country’s 4.7 million-strong population by a further million with mass migration.

In order to avert a “climate apocalypse”, the government plans to force people “out of private cars because they are the biggest offenders for emissions”, according to transport minister Shane Ross whose proposals — which include banning fossil fuel vehicles from towns and cities nationwide — are posed to cripple ordinary motorists, local media reports.

Launching the plan in Dublin, leader Leo Varadkar outlined his vision for an Ireland of ‘higher density’ cities consisting of populations whose lifestyles and behaviours have been totally transformed by ‘carrot and stick’ policies outlined in the climate plan.

“Our approach will be to nudge people and businesses to change behaviour and adapt new technologies through incentives, disincentives, regulations and information,” the globalist prime minister said.

“We are going to change how electricity is produced and consumed, how our homes and workplaces are heated; the way we travel; the types of vehicles we purchase; and how food is produced.

“It’s about vibrant, populated city centres, liveable, with excellent amenities and transport as we embrace higher densities.”

The document, which was unveiled on Tuesday, features more than 180 measures to decarbonise the Irish economy including making private car ownership prohibitively expensive — with petrol and diesel car sales banned by 2030, a date by which it says general carbon tax will be increased from €20 a tonne to “at least” €80.

In addition, the plans demand that coal and peat-fired power stations are replaced with wind farms and other “green” energy sources in order to meet the requirement that 70 per cent of electricity will be generated from renewables by 2030.

The Sardine Effect will ensure anthropogenic warming, but has historically been a first-order forcing of catastrophic anthropogenic warming, followed by catastrophic anthropogenic climate change. Time will tell if their ulterior motives will prevail and the collateral damage. That said, politicians like it. Businesses like it, too.

“Agenda 21”, an internet book by Glen Beck, tells the horror tale of life under the climate Nazi rules. Perhaps this is what the loons in Ireland are shooting for. They can kiss their tourist industry good-buy too. Who wants to take a holiday in a country where you are not allowed to move ? The beauty of Ireland is it countryside and nature, not being stuck in an even more crowded city.

The only mass migration they are likely to create is yet another exodus of those young enough to leave the country. There will be plenty of “spare beds”.

Yes Paula,
They (we – I was once a proud Irishman) are totally insane.
Ireland has no natural resources, no grown up fossil fuels. The idiots in charge of the asylum think they can keep the population warm in the Deitch winters with bird mincing wind mills. They are not stupid enough to think they can get any energy from photo electric cells which would require the sun light which rarely shines in Ireland.
They have been totally indoctrinated and bribed by a special Hungarian “Gentleman” by the name of Gregor Soros or as I call him Sorearse.
He has already pumped millions into getting queer marriage, quicky divorce and baby killing legalised in Ireland. He has also pumped millions into the Marxist global warming scam. Of course the Marxist pope has played no small part in persuading my gullible country men that we have only 10 years to save the planet. This is despite the fact that us Catholics are bound to believe that Jesus Christ has already saved us believers from eternal damnation.
So yes – Ireland is doomed.

Allowance to move for tourists is forced by b&b:

“A bed and breakfast (typically shortened to B&B or BnB) is a small lodging establishment that offers overnight accommodation and breakfast. Bed and breakfasts are often private family homes and typically have between four and eleven rooms, with six being the average.”

Thanks Johann , I have heard of B&B. That does not “force” anything. It depends upon visitors being able to move around. No one thinks of spending two weeks B&Bing in crowded city as a holiday.

The very word tourism implies being able to move. Not going somewhere where you are not allowed to move.

The Irish aren’t obligated to stay in Ireland. They can go to any EU country. I’m sure Australia and New Zealand would welcome them, as well. The US is more interested in illiterate peasants, of course.

“Climate Change” is a subject that you cannot look at on it’s own. People sit listening to their 6 o’clock news every night to be told of the forthcoming climate apocalypse mostly do not realise that “climate change” is the UN’s main tool for imposing it’s agenda on us all. If you don’t know what that agenda is try reading about it, for it is no big secret. It isn’t some kind of loony idea put forward by conspiracy theorists akin to people who think the earth is flat. The UN clearly spells out it’s goals with it’s agenda for Sustainale Development. This amounts to massive lifestyle changes and lowering of living standards. For this you need a really good excuse and that excuse is the CLIMATE.—- “Climate change” gives the progressive/liberals the opportunity to bring in policies that they have always wanted whether the climate is changing or not. ——–As a former Canadian environment Minister once said “Even if all the science of global warming is phony, it still gives us the best chance to bring about justice and equality in the world” ————–WHAT?????????.

With petrol/diesel vehicle sales banned by 2030 you wonder what effect that will have on the second hand car market, and from when. Who would buy a new petrol car in 2025 that you won’t be able to sell in five years? So maybe you decide to go ahead and run it into the ground. But 2030 comes round and service stations start closing – there’s no market you see. By 2035 you are having to drive 20 miles to one of the few service station hubs remaining. Or maybe you figure that would happen and don’t buy a new car when you would otherwise have done. The car industry collapses.

No, “Justin McCarthy June 21, 2019 at 2:32 pm” is correct. This is how when the EU tell Ireland to “Jump!”, the Irish respond “How high?!” It’s how the EU told Ireland to “Vote again!” on the Lisbon Treaty, so that the “correct” result was obtained. The UK is following suit with May and the Brexit disaster and so too will all other EU nations. Former eastern bloc nations, Poland etc, are resisting but they too will be brought (Punished/fined) in to line.

With an external debt approaching 732% of GDP, a bailout by the EU, and extended terms and lowered interest rate on said bailout; Ireland is living on the kindness of the EU. The once Celtic Tiger is now the EU Lap-kitty. Sad to say. One of the “I’s” in the term PIIGS during the economic crisis included Ireland along with Italy. But, Ireland has always been a victim of its more powerful neighbors. Hopefully, the EU dominance will be more benign than the Anglo-Norman hegemony.

Service Stations have been closing for years across the UK – and, I believe, across the EU.
Why?
Partly economics – but that is in large part because of EU regulations about the replacement of old [reasonably effective] storage tanks, with new – effective and expensive – storage tanks, plus the associated machinery, and vapour-recovery systems. Mandated by law.
Makes the small, family business, stations uneconomic.
More for the big boys – but they will feel the pinch if/when electric cars become more than a rich kiddy’s toy.
We are forever told that batteries are getting cheaper [child labour in the mineral mines? Possibly not.]; batteries seem not to be getting appreciably lighter.

A significant number or Irish people are leaving the country however the population is being replaced. You don’t see mass protests like in France because the people likely to lead these are gone. A large portion of the remaining native population relies on welfare programs and are economically inactive and not likely to rock the boat. Employment for those that stay revolves around the multinational companies. One of the consequences of the restrictions of H1B1 visas to the US is the American MNCs are importing that labor to Ireland and that is one of several factors pushing up rental and property prices here. It is not only native Irish families who are squeezed out, non-native people who try to rear families are feeling the effect as well and the middle class is slowly moving away just like in California. So overall the economically active population in the private sector is mobile.

Another factor given the dominance of the MNCs and American culture on both Irish and English Universities is the wholesale importation of the diversity inclusion equity social justice ideology which has seen politics shift from right of center populism to full on cultural Marxism which dominates politics in this country.

There are a number of factors though that will rip this apart.

1. Low interest rates have hidden the enormous national debt which ballooned in the wake of the 2008 North Atlantic banking collapse. That debt was offloaded by the state onto the backs of its taxpayers, if they did not the retired welfare class who vote en masse would have lost everything.

2. An artifact of the low interest rates has been the collapse in the bond market that has to be supported by the ECB combined with the collapse of the property bubble and bankruptcy of the firms involved has meant large chunks of property have been sold to foreign investors/pension funds who can earn a good rental yield compared to returns on bonds.

3. The primary driver behind this green policy is to be seen by the EU technocrats as being green and avoid the fines threatened by the EU for not meeting the targets that a previous generation of politicians signed the country up to. The govern-mint class does not like to rock the boat, their good fortune depends on the EU and they don;t want to rock the boat.

Sounds like the 5-year plans of the old Soviet Union. Managers of factories and collective farms had to meet government-set targets, too.

Miss the target, go to jail. So, the managers cooked the books and everyone was happy, including the government bureaucrats.

Expect to see a similar culture of dishonesty grow up in Ireland, too, as they are required to meet entirely unrealistic goals.

Politicians expecting a (relatively) free people to choke down mindless, costly plans that will fundamentally alter (for the worse) their society, economy and energy systems. I’d love to see an honest cost/benefit analysis. And forcing suburbanites into crowded, crime-ridden inner cities?

What is Ireland’s percentage of worldwide CO2 emissions? Are the Irish politicians planning on marching en mass to China, India, Africa, etc. in protest of those nations lack of action on CO2 reductions? Or do they think their virtue signalling will change any rational nation state’s position on economic development?

The Central Statistics Office in Ireland has a useful web database of weather data since 1958. For example, see below for temperatures:

https://www.cso.ie/px/pxeirestat/statire/SelectVarVal/Define.asp?Maintable=MTM02&PLanguage=0

So one can click on ‘mean temperature’ on the top menu box, then below the orange tick on the left to highlight in that menu box below all the meteorological stations in the Republic of Ireland, while moving similarly over to the right hand side menu select with the same orange tick all the weather data since 1958.

Hit ‘Show table’ below

Then when the new window opens, click the little blue arrow next to the drop down menu ‘Line chart’

What pops out then is a most wonderful representation of Ireland’s Climate Emergency!!!!!

Many people have already enjoyed the read below about the reality of the situation in Ireland:

https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/track?uri=urn:aaid:scds:US:adcc4547-52fa-45b6-9271-4ca0fc505941

Let’s put it this way, as our so called leaders divorce themselves more and more from reality, people will start to notice and waken from their current slumber, it’s a slow process here in Ireland compared to France, but it does happen over time. The ‘establishment’ is loosing both its grip on reality and the respect it once had among the general population. For instance, the 100 year celebration of the glorious revolution, which lead to the foundation of the State in 1916, was conspicuous by a general apathy among the majority of citizens, who know only too well that the State just constantly preys upon them for more and more money, while giving less and less in return.

When a market mania begins the price per unit (stock price, price per tulip bulb, etc) begins to rise on an exponential. The demand for more left-wing ideas or “solutions” seems to be exponentiating in the Anglosphere–I think the Irish are part of that. Smart money always leaves the mania early.

Resurrecting a feudal society using an alarmist climate ruse (aka, climate crisis BS) is all this is.

Feudalism:
-Broadly defined, it was a way of structuring society around relationships derived from the holding of land in exchange for service or labour. (Ya’ gotta get the riff-raff of it first, and stuff them into urban slums where they can be monitored and controlled)

– feudalism describes a set of reciprocal legal and military obligations among the warrior nobility revolving around the three key concepts of lords, vassals and fiefs.

– includes not only the obligations of the warrior nobility but also those of all three estates of the realm: the nobility, the clergy, and the peasantry bound by Manorialism;

– Where Manorialism was an organizing principle of rural economies which vested legal and economic power in a Lord of the Manor. He was supported economically from his own direct landholding in a manor (sometimes called a fief), and from the obligatory contributions of a legally subject part of the peasant population under his jurisdiction and that of his manorial court.

– The clergy is this case are the climate priests and their IPCC climate scriptures of the Climate Apocalypse.

Looking at this through the wrong end of the telescope, its clear that the whole ‘Climate Emergency’ malarkey is impossible to disprove for most people by the use of common sense, so could it be that the Irish G is adopting the tack of bringing home to folk just what it would mean to the man on the Cork omnibus ?

Clearly the thought of replacing all IC vehicles with electric in a decade is beyond delusion, and will result going forward in shed loads of people either expressing resentment at being stuck with unusable items for which they spent thousands, or as noted above, folk holding off purchases. Both possibilities must be the worst scenario’s possible if presented to the boardrooms of motor manufacturers, on whom much of the western economy is dependant.

The only way that one could possibly ameliorate the vast numbers of potentially pissed off punters, would be for the G to effectively pay for everybody to switch to electric, maybe buy handing in an IC vehicle ? And I’d have great doubts if there is enough money in Ireland, or anywhere else, for such a magic trick to be pulled off ?

All of the foregoing does not even take into account the fact that electric vehicles have yet to become available in any range of choice, with those that are available tending to be in the upper segment of the market. And also the fact that a total switch to electric must involve maybe a doubling of generation infrastructure at a time when (in Europe) the energy utilities are in no position to invest in projects that require a payback time of up to 30 years or more.

So all in all, another version of Mao’s trick of scaring off Starlings 🙂

Idiocy of the first magnitude! Do *any* politicians today consider *any* practical impacts of what they propose?

Suppose your car runs out of battery power 20 miles from the nearest charging station? What are you supposed to do? Suppose your tractor runs out of battery power in the middle of an 80 acre field miles from the nearest charging station? What are you supposed to do? Today you can go to the nearest farmhouse and get a can of gasoline or diesel fuel and get yourself to a refueling station. How are you supposed to recharge your vehicle when you are stuck in the middle of nowhere?

“Drivers will be forced off the roads in Ireland and the population packed into “higher density” cities under a long-awaited climate plan which will ‘revolutionise’ people’s lifestyle and behaviours”

Oh yes; cities have been proven to be such crime free low stress environments where everyone loves and trusts their neighbors.
I suppose that means Ireland must give up all industry and agriculture or do they plan to run nonstop buses to the outlands?

“We are going to change how electricity is produced and consumed, how our homes and workplaces are heated; the way we travel; the types of vehicles we purchase; and how food is produced.”

Meaning, in spite of world wide evidence against, they plan to install renewable energy sources while destroying coal and gas energy generating facilities.

I wonder where they plan to purchase electric tractors, tillers and combines? Must be a lovely dream world, where Leo Varadkar lives.

William Astley
June 21, 2019 12:39 pm

This has become a left mania where each left group tries to become the most politically correct government in the world.

The left is the same group that has said deficits do not matter now. (See US Democrat presidential campaign promises. Compensation for historical wrongs? We cannot pay for the current programs.) Rich countries have better benefits than poor countries with high joblessness.

Implement policies which are very, very expensive, that will destroy the economy, and then increase immigration to increase joblessness rate and social problems.

It is impossible for basic engineering and economic reasons to get to zero carbon emissions using sun and wind gathering. Germany has proven that. Germany has substantially reduce subsides and increased the separation distance of wind farms from residents as CO2 emissions did not drop as more wind farms were installed. (i.e. Germany has reached the point where energy storage is required, 29,000 wind turbines.)

Those schemes fail at the point where electricity storage is required and when the super high electrical prices kill all local industry that requires heat or electricity.

I thought it was a joke, so I was very surprised that the proposal is by the party in power, the Fine Gael.

I say go for it. We need a country to implement these policies so many are proposing the sooner the better, so the rest can watch and learn from the monumental failure to never do the same. At the point we have reached no amount of common sense will dissuade the green/left and they are starting to contaminate the liberal center as Fine Gael.

There is a huge contradiction. You force the population to live without cars on more expensive, less reliable energy while the economy tanks because most of the companies that went to Ireland due to low taxes are forced out. There is no way droves of immigrants will want to live there. Actually destroying your economy is a great way to discourage immigration.

Unfortunately Donb the Irish electorate have changed from a hard-hearted, relatively pragmatic Catholic country into a virtue signalling, ‘progressive’ pack of politically sheep. Literally, no politician or media person has bothered to investigate the science, so called, of climate. Hardly a day goes by when the “97% of scientists” meme is not trotted out in political or media platforms. Last week I heard a well-regarded radio and Tv anchor put a loaded question to a like-minded left-orientated guest that to prevent this planet “boiling to death in fifteen years” we must ban the burning of fossil fuels by 2030. Increasingly, the vast majority in the First World, rather than merely a significant minority that was the case even twelve months ago, have swallowed hook, line and sinker the bogus confection that is the new ‘science’.

A more realistic plan would be first to build nuclear power plants to supply the bulk of Ireland’s energy needs. They next need to develop and manufacture their own all electric cars, trucks, and trains. The government needs to pay its people to convert to all electric appliances including heating and cooking to electrical appliances. How much do they think all of this is going to cost? I would think that global warming would make Ireland a better and more productive place to live. The additional CO2 allows plants to grow faster and hence boosts Ireland’s agriculture output.

The reality is that the climate change we have been experiencing is caused by the sun and the oceans over which mankind has no control. Despite the hype, there is no real evidence that CO2 has any effect on climate and there is plenty of scientific rationale to support the idea that the climate sensitivity of CO2 is zero. If Ireland eliminated all burning of fossil fuels it would have very little effect on the over all radiant greenhouse effect which is dominated by H2O. What Ireland wants to do would have no effect on global climate but would most likely ruin Ireland economically. What Ireland should be doing is improving the economy so that Ireland would have more money to spend on infrastructure that will guard against the ravages of extreme weather events. People may not want to live all crowed together and have their freedoms taken away. Crowding everyone together will make everyone more susceptible to fast spreading diseases.

The problem here in Ireland is that the vast majority of us reaching our sixtieth year (and older) who grew up in the less-warm 1950-1980 period, have either not bothered to do the laborious independent research regarding cyclical ocean oscillations or have simply believed the confirmation-biased climatic hypebole that has been relentlessly promulgated on American, British and Irish television screens since Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth. The worrying thing about the current Irish Government’s capitulation to climate evangelists is that they are the political party that most closely aligns to what used to be right wing. You want to see what the rest of the Irish Parliament want to do in the climate arena! But this is actually happening all over Europe. A lot of silly people posting here seem to have Darby O’Gill and the Little People (1959 movie) level of knowledge of Ireland.
The climate plan was released from the ruling center right party, which holds power in minority, and is propped up by the other main party, also a center right party. (although a lot of newer policy’s for both parties are more left these-days) All of the opposition are left or hard left and the fascist greens which say there are left.
This climate plan has been brought in by the ruling party due to the green vote in recent elections, 5% in national elections (up 2.5%, since last election), 10% in EU elections and wanting to kiss the backside of the EU and UN. All the other political parties are currently trying to out green each other and the greens. The people have no choice in voting anyone else in at present as all the parties have gone green, only a few sane independents remain green free.
Now the climate plan has been rubbished yet welcomed by the Green Party as words only and no action, while the rural population is angry as hell at the ruling party over this plan. The only people in Ireland pleased with the plan are rich young urban yuppies in south Dublin, and the National Media(bias green left), but I doubt that will be the case when the rural population start living in their gardens, parks and other city green areas if the plan is acted on. Which will not happen as the rural farming community in Ireland has a lot of political power, and even a lot of urban dwellers will fight the tax implications of the plan.
One last thing, its spelled Éire not Eire and only if writing in Irish, it’s Ireland if written in English. Just like Deutschland is Germany in German, or Germany if written in English.

P J. well said! I come from that “rural population”, but we left Ireland (Éire) 70 years ago. The politics there– crazy! but are we any better here in the US– ‘Green New Deal’ and all that hokum.
I’ll have to ask the opinion of some of the relatives there; especially the few still living on the land.

Slán leat! (from another PJ)
