CNN is celebrating green efforts to ensure that any genetic tendency towards being a climate alarmist is eliminated from the human gene pool.

BirthStrike: The people refusing to have kids, because of climate change

By Stephanie Bailey, CNN
Updated 1314 GMT (2114 HKT) June 10, 2019

London (CNN) Climate change is rapidly changing the environment we live in. But how far would you be willing to go to help save the planet?
Would you skip school? Eat pig’s feet? Deliberately get arrested? How about forgo having kids?

For 33-year-old British musician Blythe Pepino the latter is a reality. Her fears about climate change are so strong she has decided not to have biological children.

“I really want a kid,” she told CNN. “I love my partner and I want a family with him but I don’t feel like this is a time that you can do that.”
Pepino believes that there will be an “ecological Armageddon” and founded BirthStrike at the end of 2018. BirthStrike is a group of people who are declaring their decision not to have kids because of climate change.

So far, over 330 people have joined, of which Pepino estimates 80% are women.

For the record I think climate alarmists probably should reproduce. Having a few people around who worry about everything is likely an evolutionary advantage. Better to have a few people around who jump at shadows than to overlook a real threat.

But if a group of the most committed alarmists choose not to reproduce, who are we to object? Their self sacrifice might well be a balance of nature kind of thing.

I think this is great – a kind of “progressive” Darwin Award in which protagonists self-select not themselves out if the gene pool but their future blood lines. They are surely doing humanity a favour and should be heartily supported in their goals, perhaps by being offered sterilisation, this precluding the potential outcomes of later changing their minds.

They could also be offered a free weekend at the ‘Soylent Spa’ – choice of colours and for each participant the company will provide 4 weeks worth of Protein & Mineral cakes to starving people in Africa

Now iffen those 264 females that have joined “BirthStrike” ‬were to immediately get their “tubes tied” to insure their promise of “no birthing of kids”, ….. then their claims might be believable.

Bust just promising “no birthing of kids” via their BirthStrike pledge is sufficient reason to justify ignoring the “wants” of their spouse or family members ……. or sufficient reason to justify an abortion if they do get pregnant.

The only true sacrifice would be to have their wombs removed and the opening to it stitched/glued shut. Otherwise it is no real sacrifice.

The only thing “BirthStrike” means is more abortions.
Ms. Pepino has a “polymorphous” relationship (not that there is anything wrong with that), so she will most likely need to avail herself of whatever it takes to keep her “BirthStrike” pledge.

Rather: We are almost out of time before women who decide not to have children after misunderstanding danger are high NO LONGER evolved.

Which is true: We have little time until these women can no longer reproduce, and thus the time when we (the surviors of our race) will see them removed from our race.

After that time, we (the remainder of our race) are no longer threatened by these women’s definitively wrong and highly exaggerated premonition of danger.

If only Greta Thunberg’s parents had made that connection earlier. Really, folks, I sometimes feel that I am inhabiting a parallel universe when I read this stuff. The capacity for human stupidity seems to be truly infinite.

But, hey, I’m with Eric on this one. Let’s not get in the way of what appears to be the latest expression of Darwinian species self-preservation.

In short, I have no issue with alarmists having no issue.

Back in my high school days in the 1960s, I remember reading a letter in the Ann Landers column from someone who was so certain that the US and USSR would start a nuclear war and destroy civilization that she decided not to have a baby and expose it to such conditions.

No nuclear war. And the air is cleaner too.

I’m confused. A strike withdraws something valuable from somebody else – your labour, your custom, your support. Who values these people’s children other than themselves? Who is suffering a loss from this strike other than themselves?

Or are they so obsessively self-centred they think we are suffering because we are doing without their children?

A hunger tries to cause impact by smearing the people against which the strike is being done as inhuman. Thus, it withdraws “good image”, maybe.

Please can these people devise a badge or tattoo that would enable them to identify and create a right-on fashion for this among their fellow traveller eco loons of various sorts. It’s probably a fact which won’t change no matter how it is treated and probably a small fraction of the number around the world in the same period. Pro lifers may have problems with that but it remains a fact and the rest of us have no issue with dealing with it as such as a part of our world.

I feel very sorry for these people. They are victims. They have been lied to relentlessly by a group of (obviously) very convincing charlatans. The charlatans are doing it for goodness knows what reasons – self-aggrandisement or financial gain perhaps – but for these victims the end result is destruction of their lives. Can you imagine how they will feel when they discover when past child-bearing age that they were conned. At the personal level this is more important than the degradation of the economy already being caused by the lies. If the charlatans had any shred of decency they would stop, now that others are getting badly hurt. Many of them simply don’t care at all for anyone else of course, but for those that do – and for the scientists who have doubts but have kept quiet – please, this thing has now gone too far and it’s time to break ranks.

as a teenage and young adult -depression and guilt for being alive at all and having food and shelter when so many didnt, remember the massive campaigns over Biafra?
and attempted suicide and self hate for many years after that.
I seriously have a hard time not going right off my nana at those abusing children now, as i was abused then.

gretas parents and all those supporting and pushing her, should be done for abuse of a child! and all the other poor kids that are being indoctrinated seeing her promoted is bl**dy criminal!

I’ll add that your plea, eloquent though it is, is going to fall on deaf ears. We’re talking about masses of people who are deeply amoral and utterly self-serving, the vectors for what might well prove to be the swan song of western civilization. A more appropriate response would in all seriousness be to literally go to war against them, but we all know that isn’t going to happen.

The one hope I hold out is that there are actually smart kids coming up through school right now who see through all of this, and being the smart ones may well end up in positions of power. I also hope they’ll be ruthless enough in trying to restore rationality to our world that they’ll make Donald Trump look like Jerry Brown. That they’ll have the guts to say to the witless hordes, “Sorry kiddies, but the magic train to the fairytale castle has been shut down, and all plans to run the world on unicorn farts have been suspended and those responsible for them are facing multiple indictments. Thank you for your time; now put down the frigging bong and get back to work.”

I can dream, can’t I?

14. The scientific reality is that increasing atmospheric CO2 will cause increased plant and crop yields, and possibly some minor, beneficial global warming.

There will be no catastrophic warming and no significant increase in chaotic weather resulting from increasing atmospheric CO2 concentrations.

17. Commentary concerning global warming and climate change catastrophes are typically political propaganda, not scientific reality.

The leaders of the radical greens typically know they are misleading the public. The Climategate emails provide irrefutable evidence of their misconduct. Their followers typically believe the falsehoods, and apparently do not have the education or the intellectual ability to do otherwise.

330 people have joined, I don’t think that is enough to have a noticeable effect on human genetic diversity. As for these people being victims, in the internet age it has never been easier to educate yourself and cross-check any information that you are presented with. The climate is changing rapidly apparently, don’t these people if look out of their windows? As for climate Armageddon, don’t be ridiculous!

Not quite that easy when mainstream media and search engines bury anything that might give a balanced view somewhere halfway down page 7! And point anyone in the direction of this blog or the GWPF or the Heartland Institute and you know as well as I do what their reaction will be.

No, I fear this one is going to have to play out. Nature will have the final say and the best we can do is make sure the facts are still available when she does so that the next generation of activists don’t get a free pass at the distorted data that their forbears are creating.

June 21, 2019 3:39 am

So, let me get this straight.

If, in our 60’s, my wife and I pledge not to have children, we should join the climate alarmist cause?

And are we compelled to disclose previous ‘indiscretions’, including having three (now grown up) children who are bearing us grandchildren, for consideration.

I think I’ll pass.

In the US, as in other countries, Social Security is pay-as-you-go. We rely on the next generation of workers to cover our retirement payments. Those of us who are working age pay for the current retirees and we also pay to raise kids until they’re ready to enter the workforce.

Someone who doesn’t have kids avoids that expense and gets half of a free ride. It won’t even make much difference to move public opinion since the ideological left controls almost all of public education from K-12, and through university.

I have always found left wing logic to be so confusing.

1) Climate Alarmism drive some to refuse to have kids to reduce carbon emissions
2) Desire to care for the worlds poor drives them to open borders and mass immigration, which increased CO2 emissions.

Apparently when they look at one issue they can totally ignore the other. Of course emotions are so much more important than logic for these folks.

We had the same thing in the 1960s; it was called Zero Population growth (ZPG) and it was a movement that derived directly from Paul Ehrlich’s book The Population Bomb, which predicted mass starvation in the USA by 1980, and people dying in the streets from polluted air by 1986, the collapse of the UK by 2000, and on and on.

Ehrlich is still at Stanford and still churning out the same nonsense. At least now he can claim senility to justify it.

For all those lunnies not having children: don’t come looking for mine when you hit the “old folks home”. Who is to care for you? Not my kids, they’re obligated to care for me. Now, if you decide that you DO need care, then have at it. Have those kids and you won’t see me looking for them to care for me.
