Guest essay by Eric Worrall
The Aussie federal government funded ABC is surprised that Al Gore has skirted around pointing out the screaming coal hypocrisy of his hosts, the Queensland State Government, who just paid Gore $320K AU of taxpayer’s money to visit Queensland.
Al Gore speaks in Brisbane but avoids an inconvenient elephant in the room
By state political reporter Allyson Horn
Renowned climate change campaigner Al Gore came to Australia’s coal capital on taxpayer money and lunched with Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk today. Neither of them mentioned Adani.
Key points:
- Mr Gore said Australia needed to look past chasing “dinosaur projects of the past”
- His trip to Queensland was funded with $320,000 of Queensland Government money
- He dined with the Queensland Premier who also spoke and likewise avoided mentioning Adani
…
He spoke of a “sustainable revolution” involving solar and wind technology, but there was no discussion of Adani’s proposed Carmichael coal mine in Central Queensland.
The omission comes with less than a week to go until the Queensland Government’s self-imposed deadline on an environmental approval that would give the mega coal mine its final governmental go-ahead.
Mr Gore himself hinted it was a sensitive subject, with a veiled poke at traditional energy production.“The nation has to make a decision,” he said.
…
“In Queensland we are — and will continue to be — a state where minerals that sustain human existence are dug from the ground,” she said.
Mr Gore also suggested coal production for India, as proposed with Adani’s mine, may not be needed.
…
The left wing green state Labor politicians who run Queensland have discovered a new love for coal, since their federal counterparts got smashed in normally safe Labor mining regions in the state’s North.
Yet at the same time they are trying to keep big city green supporters happy, by inviting Al Gore to the state capital, to do a bit of climate training; though obviously as part of the deal Gore agreed not to mention certain topics.
For shame Al Gore – did you really just sell out your climate principles for a measly few 100K cash? Or is there some other explanation? Inquiring minds would like to know.
Excuse me, but who is Al Gore to preach to Australians. The Qld Premier would have advertised his presence more had Labor won the recent election. I wonder about Gore’s carbon footprint with his new mansion and flying his private jet to lecture people to stop burning jet fuels, gasoline, and other carbon-emitting products. He condemns people for flying commercial once in a while and running their air conditioners when it gets really hot.
Frances, no doubt Gore’s visit would have been arranged well before the federal election, on the assumption that the ALP would use the occasion to crow about their ‘greenieness’ along with with their religious leader. With it being so scheduled for so soon after the election, there would have been zero chance of cancelling or re-scheduling it, so they had to let it happen and play down the whole thing. But they still got 1000 or so ‘true believers’ some more training in how to spruik Gorespeak, which will no doubt still be used to indictrinate many tens of thousands of Qld schoolchildren and other immature minds to their ideology.
I did see Oz had a return of the Gore effect, a snowstorm in New South Wales. ManBearPig is as shameless as he is mercenary.
It seems the Gore Effect helps increase demand for good ol’ coal fueled heat and electricity. 😉
Also near Stanthorpe , southern Queensland, believe it or not.
Snow falling near Stanthorpe in Queensland believe it or not.
Thank God he wasn’t elected President.
What possible value is there 8n listen8ng to this guy?
Value in knowledge of what tactics the extreme leftists are planning in their holy war against the true practice of true science and scientific principles
What possible value is there 8n listen8ng to this guy?
$320K AU, in the view of whoever authorised the payment.
yeah and Id say the palletstacker should be paying that personally!!!!
betcha the taxpayers go ape when it gets more publicity
He will say – or not say – whatever the host wants. That is what being a shill id/does. More money, he does it louder.
I only care whether it snowed while Gore was there.
Brisbane climate is sub-tropical. The southern hemisphere version of Miami, or maybe Houston.
But when Al turned up there, it snowed on the Darling Downs just a bit inland from Brisbane.
Happens about every 7 years or so.
But when Gaia knew Al was coming, ze turned on a snowfall.
Gaia just luuuurves mucking with greenies’ heads.
But you’ve simply forgotten that such weather events are PROOF of manmade globul warming! 😉
His family fortune is based on coal and zinc mining royalties bought by his father from farmers (first Senator Gore) during the depression in Tennessee. He’s a hypocrit or feeling guilty.
Gore senior also had a seat on the board of directors of Occidental Petroleum.
Dr Francis Manns
Wasn’t there tobacco farming in there as well?
I hadn’t heard that.
They paid that ,,?
That has to be misappropriation of tax funds.
How the devil can the Queensland Government justify giving the Mr Gore of the USA a penny?
What wisdom could this cracked record of misinformation provide, that is of any value to the taxpayers of Queensland?
Somebody in the government accounting, approval of spending bureaus needs paraded out a summarily dealt with.
The paying of Gore indicates this government has way too much money.
They owe their citizens a refund.
The wisdom Gore is providing is “A fool and his money are soon parted”
A rounding error in the millions given by govts to “consultants” to give desired answers, with sciencey credibility, providing cover for pre-ordained conclusions.
agreed so how does one get them to account for such misuse of taxpayer funds?
he provided NO service just spoke the same drivel as he does everywhere else.
320k to speak? who picked up the accomodation n meals etc tab too?
$100 k is nothing. The Australian federal government gave $88 million to the Clinton Foundation and associated bodies. https://www.news.com.au/finance/economy/australian-economy/australia-ceases-multimilliondollar-donations-to-controversial-clinton-family-charities/news-story/219577919ed8dfbd79cf808321234eba
I just wish he would leave. The Gore Effect has produced some of the coldest weather in a decade in the sub-tropical regions.
BoM running an item its going to warm up se aus again, well looking at nullschool I cant see any inland areas over 21c at best and that will be lucky to go anywhere due to the icy sth wind patterns. much annoyed to see ENSO has bolted to the plus side again though;-(
What is it about hypocrisy that the Gores of this world don’t get? Oh, right, the pain is for others to bear, not our revered betters.
Oh yes! Mr. Gore came to Australia to give the Qld Govn’t a damn good thrashing. The Qld Govn’t is not the messiah, it’s just a naughty boy. Al, *IS* the messiah and his fee, I mean “message”, is divine. Well, he did qualify in “divinity” didn’t he?
Patrick MJD: “Well, he did qualify in “divinity” didn’t he?”
I believe Gore flunked out of Divinity School.
However, rumor has it he graduated from Hell, summa cum laude, majoring in Prevarication and minoring in Hypocrisy. I would fact check that rumor except it seems obvious and reasonable, so I won’t waste my time.
The last time Al visited Queensland, he did a press conference with coal mining magnate Clive Palmer.
Clive finished the conference by claiming that he and Al agreed that the world should not be worrying about the 3% of CO2 that humans put into the atmosphere, but rather find ways of ways of reducing the 97& of CO2 that nature puts into the atmosphere.
I doubt that Al and Clive have spoken since . . .
Can you cite a reference to that?
Yes, Mr,
We Aussie observers noted that Palmer/Gore meeting and some strange events re global warming policy/attitudes that happened soon after. Almost like one had purchased a pledge from the other, maybe with $$$ exchanges.
So, if you now know what transpired, ears here are keen to hear. Geoff
The insane green policies-anti Adani, 45% emissions reduction targets, electric cars, stuffing retirees incomes, potential for inheritance taxes are what caused Queensland to dump Labor. What is most disturbing is that 48% of the population voted for the insanity. It was touted as the “climate election.” 48% of the population fell for it. Schools actively promote the climate propaganda. Candidates praised kids truanting from school to go to the protests! Many of these brainwashed kids will be voting in 3 years time and you can just guess who they will be voting for. These brainwashed kids will also be old enough to go on the GetUp Brownshirt roll. Their blitzing of Warringah electorate with hundreds of well funded GetUp activists from all over the state rolled one of the best parliamentarians we had. The “independent” claimed that she was not affiliated with GetUp. (We have it on record,) If this is was the case, why did she accept electoral help from them and why did they hand out her how to vote literature???
As for the Electoral Commission claiming that GetUp are not an affiliated political body – what a load of rubbish. GetUp was co-founded by Bill Shorten. This implies that the Electoral Commission itself is corrupt.
If the Electoral Commission is corrupt, then many of Australia’s elections have been tarnished since 1975. Laws have been passed by administrations that should not have been in a position to write legislation in the first place! Treaties have been signed with the UN (United Nazis) which should not have been signed-many -Lima in 1975, Kyoto, Paris,Agenda 21 and Agenda 2030 in particular undermine national Sovereignty. It is treason on steroids. In days of old, heads would have rolled for this treason-if they were lucky.
And what information did Al Gore impart that merited a payment of A$350? “what’s that you say, it wasn’t A$350, it was A$350,000”?
Well, being a has been, or someone that nearly made it but didn’t, sure has its upsides. Was it really A$350,000…. jeez Mann, oh Mann, oh Mann, who knew BS was that expensive?
Amazing isnt it how he adjusts his level of strident-ness, depending on who is paying his fee.
Thank you for noticing.
The Premier (like a US Governer) of the State is at risk of damaging her spine with the backflips she is performing re the Adani coal mine. She has been dragging the chain on everything, and now she has been given the middle finger by the electorate its full steam ahead. Of course an electio is now less than 12 months away. She is hoping for short memories.
Al Gore wanted to go into the ministry. Instead, he wound up as a greedy and accomplished climate huckster, selling his own special brand of climate snakeoil to the stupid, or those with their own agendas. Strange world.
For shame Al Gore – did you really just sell out your climate principles for a measly few 100K cash. So he got paid 100K? That’s 99K too much.
This clown deserves a good pieing everywhere he goes to sell his ridiculous craps :
I do hope the West Antarctic ice shelf is far more labile than the MSM believe (see sea gate levels at Harlech and Caernarfon castles) and Gore’s mansion is flooded.
We should all sponsor legislation to prohibit our taxes from funding guest speakers. $320,000 was just wasted.
RE: “For shame Al Gore – did you really just sell out your climate principles for a measly few 100K cash?”
Money talks, bullsh*t walks . . .
Re. Garland Lowe, June 7th.
If Al Gore had bee elected as President, which he should have b even, would he have been any worse than Obama at attempting to destroy the USA economy. ?
