The truth is the IPCC’s self serving consensus couldn’t be more wrong if they tried. To be sure, they are trying very hard, and they must, since the scientific truth couldn’t be further away from what they need to support their socialist agenda of world domination by controlling the energy supply.
What you write is so true, I was beginning to think that in 2008 with Copenhagen on the horizon. But to this day the sheep barh and smear and laugh at anyone like you or I writing what we have researched and found to be the case.
If one listens to Ottmar Edenhofer or Christiana Figueres (former UNFCCC officials), they tell you straight out that the purpose of the IPCC is to redistribute the world’s wealth, we should listen to them. It’s the purpose of the UNFCCC to redistribute wealth under the guise of climate reparations. The purpose of the IPCC is to identify science in support of the UNFCCC. There’s a perceived separation where the IPCC focuses on the science while the UNFCCC focuses on politics, yet far too few understand that the consensus surrounding what the IPCC accepts as climate science has an evil bias in favor of the UNFCCC. Once more I will ask why isn’t this institutionalized conflict of interest, whose stated goal is the destruction of western economies, front page news?

Yet another reminder that we are dealing in a ideological or religious cult here. Like the Jonestown, Branch Davidian and Heaven’s Gate cult member before them, the true believers are totally convinced that they are incapable of being wrong. They could not have possibly put their faith and trust in the wrong people.
The writer of this letter obviously doesn’t understand diddy squat about the difference between science and a religious or ideological doctrine. Treating the CAGW hypothesis as infallible and unquestionable is not science. Only political doctrines and religions are treated that way, and you don’t stop asking questions in science.
This climate alarmist narrative has been executed so extremely well that it should serve as the textbook example for anyone else trying to pull off something like this in the future. The co-operation of the U.N., national govts, scientists and science institutions and (of course) the MSM have made it all possible.
Reading this letter is both very funny and very sad at the same time. Hard to decide if it more of one or the other.
Agreed, yet I have met successful academics, I have argued with them and they begin to get nasty very quickly, threatening to block and smear on Facebook. They are proud of their children being out of school for climate and they put the words climate change in the title and abstract of their grant applications, despite the research having nothing to do with the scam. This is corruption, and Jones Town religion too. Even there in Jones Town the dissenters were there, they were sexually abused and afraid but they were speaking up. It is a type of abuse to encourage children to blindly strike in the climate strike.

I have been coming to the strengthening opinion that there are honestly people who are unable of processing the concept of a differing opinion. My observations have led me to concluding there are certain people who honestly believe that ‘they know what is best’. This can be from either a leader or a follower point of view, but the common theme is they have decided that they (or their role model) have the ‘correct answers’ and they are doing what is best for society as a whole.

For them there is ‘Right’ and there is ‘Wrong’. Remember these people believe they are doing the ‘right thing’, and often believe they are doing it for the ‘right reasons’. Nearly everything in their rational life has revolved around this concept. They are RIGHT. You, in countering this argument are not simply a different opinion, are a WRONG opinion. For them to accept that your point of view even exists is to accept that great parts of their life was also ‘wrong’ and be extension meaningless.
So what is easier? To admit your life has no meaning? Or to reject my false god?
Easy – they reject, utterly, all that counters because to accept is to destroy their own purpose in life. They are actually mentally unable to tolerate or process the concept of a different opinion. You are WRONG. Not just different, WRONG.
Typically the more global the mind set of these people the more closed minded they are. They know what is Best. Paradoxically these people are almost universally of the Left. The Right, to be pragmatically honest here, tend to be more selfish in their ambition. They want what is best for them or their immediate friends and family. Lefts want justice for the world. Rights want success for themselves. By being more narrow minded in ambition they are actually more open minded to opinions, because provided a differing opinion still allows them to co-exist and maintain their (narrow) ambition it is rarely skin off their nose.
Basically:
Lefts – close minded, engaged, angry
Rights – open minded, apathetic, relaxed
and the more engaged you become with the ‘big picture’ the less likely you are to ever admitting that you are wrong.
The fixed mindset has been identified as a barrier to all learning because it wraps up self-worth in being right. The growth mindset in contrast sees being wrong (i.e., making mistakes) as an opportunity to improve. People can change from fixed to growth, but it takes awareness and self-examination. My observation is that alarmists seem to fall into the “fixed” camp while many but not all skeptics seem to be more “growth” oriented. Skeptics often admit they started out accepting the consensus, realized the error, and changed their minds. Rarely does it go the other way.

I’ve had this conversation dozens of times, it’s not a conversation.. When you ask what they have they throw up talking points. As soon as you even attempt citing established facts and observations in optical physics or botany or chemistry their eyes glaze and they get louder and I realize I am talking to a willful ignorant.

Yes Karlos51, I have had arguments with arts based academics that went exactly this way, as you scripted. There has been the brainwashing, the position structured for them to be herded into, and the subsequent maneuvering of everyone into this G W Bush “you’re either with us or you are with the terrorists” follows, such that people are afraid to be called a ‘denier’ (something that Andy Pittman structured). After all skeptics, oh they are old white men. The reason why skeptics are old white men (like me) is that many are retired geologists, agricultural scientists, geographers who understand the fraud in science and they also no longer need to apply for grants – they say what they think.
I will say I had one seemingly successful such encounter. The fool tried countering my initial counter-arguments with a sudden redirection to Darwin (I think they all believe “deniers” are all fundamentalist religious zealots). When I started pointing out that Darwin’s theories have nothing to do with climate change, he went to the “scientists say” argument and “if you were a scientist”. I told him I have a science degree from Berkeley (I like to throw in the Berkeley part because it kind of disarms the leftists.) He said that if that were true I wouldn’t be so skeptical about “science”. I quickly schooled him about science and the importance of skepticism. He actually went away muttering, “You’re a skeptic BECAUSE you’re a scientist!” He may have been indoctrinated back into the fold by his peers but I think he had a bit of a revelation.

Trying to convince a Klimate Katastrophe Kook that there is no ‘fire in the theater’ means they’ll go set the fire.
They have no historical perspective, they’re so naively hubristic that they disregard any counter-evidence, and even if that counter evidence is all around them (ie: they walk outside for the first time in their short and sheltered lives), they’ll continue to believe their broken and inculcated brains rather than empirical evidence.
If they’re in danger of being cornered and forced to admit their error, they’ll manufacture the ‘evidence’ to prove themselves ‘not wrong’ (as we saw when they knocked down the lone tree at the beach which proved no sea level rise; as we see in the statistical fraud of the 61% falsified data and ‘pal-reviewed’ reports used to perpetuate the CAGW scam; as we see in the continual stream of fake news touting the CAGW scam; etc.).

People who look around and see a crisis have to have a complete lack of historical perspective to believe there’s a crisis. Some of the more mature in this crowd probably remembers previous decades in the last century when truly devastating weather events took out far more people than anything we’ve seen in many years. I have run across individuals in Yahoo news comments who are quite uncivil. They appear to keep up with the literature and can cite ‘chapter and verse,’ but seem incapable of actually independently analyzing what they read. I strongly suspect that one individual has several aliases and slightly different personas. But, the one thing that is constant is insisting that only articles published in peer-reviewed journals have any validity or value. He/she/they also engage in ad hominem attacks rather than try to rebut any counter facts. With the name calling, it is almost like being back in grade school trying to have an exchange with them. I do question their mental stability! I had one of them even try to get me to confirm the city they though that I lived in.

If you read the news at all, you will be aware that tolerance for other people’s views and commitment to respectful political dialogue in a democracy is at a very low point. There are many who can share the blame for that, on both the left and rights sides of the political spectrum. What distinguishes the intolerance of the climate alarmists from that of other groups is their profound belief that their views are based not just on better science, economics and policy considerations, but are also morally superior. The champions of alarmism have succeeded in persuading millions that it is more “moral” to deprive an African country today of the aid it needs to build a badly needed power plant to electrify the rural areas than it would be to add to the emissions of carbon dioxide (most of which come from the developing countries themselves) that might affect global temperatures a century hence. They are persuaded that it is morally superior to subsidize ethanol and take millions of acres out of food production that would benefit the world’s hungry. It is also morally superior to add billions of dollars to the electricity bills of people, thus increasing significantly the numbers suffering from energy poverty. The root of this moral view is clear. The “Planet”, that nebulous concept of nature, counts far more than the people on it.
