Merry Christmas Everyone!

I’ve been able to take some much needed time-off, thanks to Charles Rotter aka “Charles the Moderator”, but I wanted to say how much I appreciate this opportunity to reach around the world with our message, and to touch lives. I’ve been given a great gift.

I also wish to thank Kip Hansen, who was instrumental in me getting back on my feet by helping my employees recover after the devastating #campfire. I very nearly lost my business due to the fallout. Thanks to everyone who helped. The situation is slowly turning around now, and I have hope.

In 2019, there are going to be some changes, good changes (though some may not see it that way) and I hope to rejoin daily operations. Look for some announcements soon.

In the mean time, I appreciate you all; the readers, the moderators, the guest contributors, and even my detractors, because you fuel my fire. I wish you all a Merry Christmas, wherever you are, and a happy and prosperous new year in 2019.- Anthony

“Col John Singleton Mosby, the Gray Ghost”

It always warms my heart to read a reference to Mosby the Gray Ghost.
he and Robert Lee’s sons brought Chivalry, brilliance and humor to cavalry operations in Virginia.

“Mosby’s most famous raid occurred in March of 1863, inside Union lines at Fairfax County Courthouse, when he captured Brigadier General Edwin H. Stoughton.

They cut the telegraph wires and captured the operator as well as most of the guards in the area. They attempted to grab the cavalry colonel but learned that he had been called to Washington.

But the general was there — and he was woken by Mosby spanking his back.

“There was no time for ceremony, so I drew up the bedclothes, pulled up the general’s shirt, and gave him a spank on his bare back, and told him to get up,” Mosby later wrote.
As the general tried to understand what was going on, Mosby asked him, “Do you know Mosby, General?”

The General replied, “Yes! Have you got the rascal?”

“No,” said Mosby. “He’s got you!”

Union Brig. Gen. Edwin Stoughton was captured by Confederate forces before his commission could be voted on by the Senate.

Stoughton was captured with three other officers, a number of enlisted men, and at least 55 horses. When President Abraham Lincoln was told of the event, he supposedly said that he could always make a new brigadier general in five minutes, “but those horses cost $125 apiece!”

One of the properties I considered when moving to Virginia bordered one of the star forts where Mosby watched the Potomac.
That property was out of my price range, but I loved visiting that fort.

MERRY XMAS TO EVERYONE.

As opposed to “opinions” and “popularity” it would be nice to see a greater emphasis on science, experimental testing and reasoned argument during 2019. Very disappointing to see that a lot of you still think photons are elementary particles which really exist and have zero mass and whizz about in space until they hit something.

Yes, Merry Christmas, Mr. Watts!

I like your “Santa Loves Uranium” poster. It has a real ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ kind of feel to it.

Just thinking, if a hydroxyl ion can as easily be written ‘HO’ as ‘OH’, then perhaps I can wish you “three hydroxyl ions worth” of good cheer in a row. I wouldn’t want to put too many of those in a row though, since, as someone once indicated, all that laughing can “start to creep a bit”.

Anyway thanks for all the hard work, and good luck in your endeavors.

(Христос се роди) – ‘Christ is born’ (or similar in Slavic languages, is a greeting used instead of ‘good morning’ or ‘good afternoon’, while a reply to a greeter is ‘ In truth, He was born’
However as the holiday good wish ‘Sretan Bozic’ (Happy Christmas) is used.

Merry Chrsitmas to all at all at WUWT. Anthony’s Christmas card above brought this to mind:

The Nuclear Energy Innovation and Modernization Act was approved in the House of Representatives by wide margins Friday, clearing the chamber by 361 to 10. The Senate had already approved the bill on Thursday by a voice vote.

Introduced by Wyoming GOP Sen. John Barrasso and co-sponsored by a number of Republicans and Democrats alike, the Nuclear Energy Innovation and Modernization Act calls for a number of reforms that would unburden the industry. The legislation streamlines how the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulates facilities by improving licensing procedures and giving licensees more transparency on how the agency spends its money. Additionally, it encourages investment in nuclear research and supports the development new technology in labs around the country.

The end goal of the bill is to make the development and commercialization of nuclear technology more affordable.

Thanks Antony and your team of helper s. Merry Xmas and hopefully a prosperous 2019.

Here in S.A. we are having very hot weather. The weather cycle is very simple, if the wind is from the West, its Indian Ocean moderate temperatures, if its from the South its Antarctic cold, if its from the North its tropical air plus coming across the vast inland desert it gets very hot. All perfectly normal for this country. But our national broadcaster , the ABC, otherwise known as the properganda arm of the ALP and the Greens is, saying Ëxtreme, extrene.

Compared to other Decembers its all quite Normal.

I think Don Henley kinda captured the spirit:

….”What would we do without all these jerks anyway
Besides, all our friends are here”.

Thanks for bringing sanity in an insane world.

Merry Christmas Anthony, Charles tM, and all guest authors, readers and comment contributors. WUWT is a source of sanity in the midst of a mindless, brainwashing mass movement that defies all logic and sense. I often find myself wondering what Edmund Burke or Thomas Jefferson or Alexander de Tocqueville would have to say about the politics of CAGW. Even though those great thinkers are long gone, I still get to read what all of you have to say. So, thank you. And a very happy, healthy, prosperous 2019.

And just a final note to those who may be afraid of the coming climate. Please try to manage your fear, and study the reasons for that fear. And reject any portion that comes from logical fallacies, false propaganda, and exaggerated or tendentious science. We humans are inventive and motivated, and we will solve or adapt to any real problems. Have a bit of faith in your fellow humans.

A wonderful list of greetings.
One by the beatniks from the early 1950s is worth adding:
“Have a Cool Yule and a Frantic First”

I’ll add that I live in Vancouver B.C.
And will pass on how we forecast the weather through the fall and winter months.

If you can the mountains, you know that it is going to rain.
If you can’t see them, you know it is raining.

I agree; Merry Christmas to all. (I think I just made it on the West Coast.) Some of the commenters keep you on your toes. It’s a pleasure to see so many concerned about good science.

Happy Christmas to all, especially those sad people who had time to post on the 25th!😊.
For the record, it was a cold, dry Christmas here in Norfolk, I had to de-ice the windscreen to get to Midnight Mass.

Thank you Anthony for keeping this site progressing and in the end the truth will out .
There has been a lot of very good postings this year and a few detractors ,drongos ,well thats an Auzzie word for nong , well you all know what I mean, but I think some of them might even learn some truth about the climate if the hang around awhile .
Looking forward to next year .

Lets us all try and ‘Make New Year Great Again’ — MNYGA! 😕

Seasoned gratings, and enjoy a your festering holiday season, …
… happy humbug, and may your coming New Year be as preposterous as the last 12 months.
😯God bless wattsupwiththat and all who sail with here . 😀

(From a humorous Mexican tv series)
– Is Santa Claus married?
– Well yes, he was married. To Mary.
– Who is Mary?
– Mary Christmas!

Mr Watts, I don’t know the reason of the problems you’ve had. It seems ironic that, walking towards the fire, have been threatend by a campfire.
Glad that you are back on the track. Learning a lot from your posts and from comments, also looking forward to a healthy and decreasingly alarmist 2019.

[Not a “campfire”, but rather a very large forest and brush fire, which began burning in the hilly and steep terrain on the Camp Creek . Hence “The Camp Fire” – which burned many thousands of acres around several towns. .mod]

A bit late to wish you all a Merry Christmas but in time you wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

And a huge thank you to Anthony, Charles, Kip and the whole team for the last 12 months. May 2019 be easier on you all. Best wishes to all contributors.
