Guest Plea by Kip Hansen
There is now a Friends of WUWT CampFire Relief fund, receiving donations through the 501(c)3 not-for-profit charitable organization, the Family-to-Family Project, Inc.
There are lots of people needing help as a result of the Camp Fire. Lots of relief is headed that that. We can make sure that our donations go to relieve specifically those families that are Friends of WUWT — we can help take care of our own. The Family-to-Family Project, operated by my wife and myself, will direct your dollars to those friends in need at the recommendation of our man on the spot.
Please donate whatever and as often as you can.

Done.
Not a lot but I hope a kid gets a couple of hot meals.
HotScot ==> Thank you, you have led off what I hope will be an overwhelming response.
Done
Terry ==> Much appreciated.
I wouldnt normally give what little I can so far from home – just hope as above it buys a little comfort for someone.
Mark ==> Someone will eat today thanks to you!
If this were set this up to include paypal. That would provide an extra level of protection. I have had too many cards compromised.
DHR ==> I am trying to set-up PayPal donations via GoFundMe but it requires some verification steps that take days — Use the DONATE button on the sidebar to Donate to WUWT via PayPal.
READERS ==> I am amazed at the number of donations pouring in — and at the humility shown by donors who quietly hit the link the the Relief Fund, drop in their scarce dollars to help strangers — and do so without even commenting here.
I am thanking all donors personally and just want to acknowledge those silent givers here: THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!
Hi Kip,
Donation coming via WUWT Paypal. I’d encourage you to do direct Paypal instead of GoFundMe because they take too big a cut.
I can identify with the plight in Paradise, after we endured the Detwiler Fire in Mariposa County in 2016.
Thanks for doing this via your organization. My wife inquired about the status of Family-to-Family Project, Inc. So I searched. I found records on Charity Navigator with pretty good detail. Buzzfile and GuideStar had only some details. Charity Watch had no record. I suggest you work with these organizations and other ranking websites, to add information so that people can have confidence when giving. That should help your fundraising.
Godspeed to Anthony and those in the fire areas.
John ==> Thanks for the suggestion. My wife and I operated the Family-to-Family Project in the Dominican Republic for a dozen years, living on our sailboat to conserve funds. We are re-purposing the charity for this special effort.
Thank you for yourgenerosity.

Done. Thank you for setting this up.
OE ==> Thanks for your help — we’ve a lot of people that need help — and need it today!
If possible, you might want to move this up to 2nd place, underneath AW’s status post. Otherwise, it’ll keep moving down and get lost in the shuffle.
TPG ==> I’ll ask Charles the Mod.
TPG ==> Back up to #2.
