Hello,
It’s been awhile since I’ve made a pitch for WUWT, mainly because I’ve been busy with several projects, including the move of WUWT to a new more um, “robust” (climate science loves that word, so I figure I can use it too) web server.
One of the reasons for the move to a new server is better security. As many readers know, WUWT is hated worldwide by people who believe the Earth is going to hell in a handbasket, and WUWT just helps it go faster because we dare challenge the “97% consensus”. They’d be happy to see it shut down.
Just the other day I got this piece of hate mail from a biologist in Northern California that illustrates this point:
Name: John Dittes
Email: jcdittes@xxxxx.xxx
Website:
Message: Hello Anthony, it’s been a while. Listening to the news of record temperatures being marked weekly around the world, I’m thinking of you. Again, history will show you to be the carnival barker that you are. You are largely responsible for the Dark-Age mentality leading us to roast. I hope you have a heat stroke you obfuscating asshole.
Best regards.
John Dittes
As I note on my contact page, hate mail is fair game for publishing; he ignored the warning. Apparently Mr. Dittes has never seen this graph, from the EPA of all places:
So, you see what I’m up against, what we are all up against.
Speaking of the new web server and security, here’s one of the reasons why I’ve had to move. This screencap is from my WordPress dashboard just as I’m writing this today.
Those 10K+ malicious logins have all occurred since I put WUWT on the new server at the WordPress subsidiary “Pressable“. I get more malicious login attempts than I do spam.
This all takes time, money, and commitment to keep it going. So I’m asking for a little help.
People have bought recommended books about climate change at my suggestion in the past from Amazon.
Today is Amazon Prime Day – the biggest sale of the year.
If you are considering making a purchase on Amazon today, please follow this link or click on the picture above, and a small percentage of each purchase will go towards supporting WUWT.
It costs you nothing extra to use this link to make an Amazon purchase today, or any day.
Suggestion: If you haven’t bought this book yet, now published, which has a chapter that I authored, today is a good opportunity:
Or if you prefer, there’s the traditional route:
Support our work: HERE
As always, thanks to you – our readers, our volunteer moderators, our contributors, and yes even our detractors for making WUWT what it is: The world’s most viewed climate website. -Anthony
Done!
Easier to just donate.. site is much better now. Faster, easier to comment and as you say, more secure. Great job.
Thanks, it was a huge amount of work to migrate. There were millions of comments and over 18,000 stories posted since 2006.
Apart from a few issue – style sheets are still inconsistent and whilst JPGs show up PNGs do not – its a huge improvement
Nor do You Tube videos
Yes, I’m waiting for the comment plugin developer to address this.
Anthony,
Just remember if they are from Australia and they get too carried away with threats you can report them and they can be charged, obviously some have it coming.
Great site, been here many years now and always point friends who question straight here.
Keep up the good fight!
Anthony,
Donated. It’s easy.
I still have problems posting comments. Sometimes, my comment just sits and cycles for ages until I get frustrated and close it.
sorry this is happening to you, but it’s likely something related to your browser or to your computer operating system. Sometimes it’s just simply a matter of not keeping a browser or the operating system up-to-date with the latest updates. Other times it might be related to not having enough RAM in the system to enable large web pages to load properly. A number of the web pages we have tended to be Graphics intensive, and that often causes some older browsers that aren’t updated or systems that have low amount of RAM do not handle it well. The other alternative might be that you have some plug-in installed in your browser then might be interfering. My best advice would be to try a different browser then you are using now and see if the problem persists. If it does then I would look to RAM and the operating system update status. Thank you for your support I wish you best of luck in solving your problem. Anthony
Will make a purchase later today.
Bought the book and made a donation. Been a long time reader but only recently started to engage.
Done, bought the book today. Will read it then leave on my shelf at work to drive colleagues nuts.
Better glue it to the shelf or it’ll get stolen and/or destroyed. Am buying it today myself.
What’s I find very interesting in the Heat Wave graph is the obvious cooler period from 1957 to 1977. This period is the one during which baby boomers were in their younger years. Those same baby boomers are today’s consensus scientists and opinion leaders.
These people – biologists or not – seem to be creationists. God created the world in a perfect state, and any change is an unforgivable sin.
Can’t agree with you CG. I would sooner believe atheists would believe the world is in a deep fry than would those of “faith.” You actually have to be able to think in order to decide to have faith. You don’t even need a brain to be atheist.
You have to fall back on faith when you have no empirical proof. Sounds a lot like the CAGW zealots, doesn’t it?
I happen to believe that God created a dynamic world, not a static one.
Which explains why the Garden of Eden is now a desert!
She created a dysfunctional world!
i don’t think you understand the concept of thinking.
faith is not that.
but i see you have a keen grasp on your hobby horse and rudeness.
betcha don’t do much of that when you’re within reach of your target, do ya?
cuz, i mean, you only have 4 cheeks to turn and every one of them would get lessoned…lol
“You actually have to be able to think in order to decide to have faith. You don’t even need a brain to be atheist.”
Tom, you sound like the leftist climate alarmists that we all gather here refute… if I am not of your faith then I am brainless. There are many of us atheists that actually do have perfectly functioning brains that are able to reason and use common sense. That’s why we come to WUWT to get the facts, not to hear that my religion, or lack of, is better than yours.
Doug in Calgory
I’m with you. I’m a life-long atheist (in my 70s now) and science and the natural world/universe have been my passion. Unless I see real evidence I don’t subscribe to anything. I note that religious belief in children usually follows the religion surrounding them i.e. children in christian communities grow up christian and in muslim communities become muslim etc. It takes an effort of will (and sometimes willingness to face a very real danger of being killed) to break away to another religion or none. Every atheist arrives at atheism on their own.
It’s absence of evidence that requires faith.
I read Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring and believed it (I was very young) then, later, discovered my mistake and learned a valuable lesson.
Acid rain – no evidence so I didn’t believe it.
Global cooling caused by CO2 – also no evidence.
Hole in the ozone layer caused by CFCs – no evidence, except to the contrary.
Global warming caused by CO2 – no evidence.
Ocean acidification caused by CO2 – no evidence.
I am willing to believe in any of these things IF evidence is produced. So, here I am on WUWT looking for evidence.
I don’t think Tom meant all atheists are unthinking. But don’t mischaracterize all faith. It is belief without evidence having to be constantly present, like knowing the earth is curved when you’re somewhere it looks only flat, or that the sun is still shining in the dead of night. Or the faithfulness of a spouse.
He’s just regurgitating mindless tropes he’s picked up. He’s evidently clueless about what thinking is, what atheism is, , or about epistemology or metaphysics.
Faith, as he infers to it, is utterly primitive/tribalist in about every aspect.
Well, there is an ‘Eden’ mentality – a pristine world until it was despoiled by human sin.
I do find in amusing that most warmists do seem to be anti-religion, apparently unaware their belief system is Genesis lifted wholesale and painted day-glo green.
Yet warmism is constantly referred to as a religion. It is! Go figure.
“You actually have to be able to think in order to decide to have faith”
Totally backasswards, actually.
I thought there _was_ a correlation between creationism/dinilism. Wasn’t it actually covered on this site?
This is what I was looking for:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2015/05/20/this-chart-explains-why-faith-and-science-dont-have-to-be-in-conflict/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.3ed28906f126
RS, that linked article merely presented some apparent correlations. It says nothing about how to change minds. May be just poor titling.
Even those correlations are suspect, as surveys usually conflate weather variation with climate change/global warming and those trying to claim a survey means anything often conflate noting a lack of scientific evidence with believing in a flat Earth.
SR
Steve
That is part of the plan to deny there is a middle. Ground: those who are unconvinced by the evidence presented. “If you don’t believe the evidence I presented, it means you believe the earth is flat”. It is a fanatical response. People have to be allowed to examine flimsy evidence and pronounce, ‘This is unconvincing.’
CG, your comment at 2:01 is a misrepresentation of creationists’ thinking. We do not think that God handed us a perfect world, but a “fallen” world. This world includes bad weather, natural disasters, disease, DNA copying error, and people free to behave badly if they so choose.
We think climate change began with the Fall, and that the world has built-in (by God) negative feedbacks that that will prevent a runaway hothouse condition.
We think God created life with sufficient genetic diversity within the gene pool to allow adaptation to changing conditions/geographical relocation. These changes may alter what we define as a species, but do not affect the family or higher levels of classification. (Wolves can “evolve” into coyotes, but not into bears.)
Steve,
Wow! It’s really true what the Warmunistas say about “climate change denialists”. You truly are creationist, blasphemous, ignoramus liars against God.
How embarrassing for proponents of science.
Wolves don’t evolve into coyotes. If anything, canids similar to coyotes are the ancestors of wolves.
But it doesn’t matter. The fact is that there is no genetic barrier that keeps, for instance, generic carnivores from evolving into canids, which then diversify into bears, dogs, mustelids, seals, etc.
Macroevolution is simply microevolution with more time. A lobe-finned lungfish relative evolved into a tetrapod, ie a land-dwelling four-legged creature, by easy, small, gradual changes in the calcification of fin rods.
This site embarrasses itself the more it allows such ignorant creationist drivel to be spewed here. And the more it gives ammo to Warmunistas to brand all climate change skeptics as antiscience.
WUWT could do itself a lot of good by publishing a pro-science post on real biology rather than the creationist cant of scientific ignoramuses like Tim Ball.
But it won’t because apparently this is a creationist site, just as its alarmist critics charge.
Sad.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canidae
Chimp,
That was very disrespectful.
While I do not wholeheartedly agree with Steve, I think you have intentionally “misunderstood” what he was saying. The wolf/coyote was a “for instance” both are generalist species as are humans. Even though I AM NOT a creationist ( I avoid trying to be any kind of “-ist” and follow no “-ism”). I think I could explain the Universe from a creationist’s perspective using Quantum Mechanics.
My background:
I work in the Radio-pharmaceutical industry making P.E.T. isotopes as a Cyclotron and Chemistry Process Engineer.
I got to tell you the more I learn about the Universe the more I am convinced that if a God or if GOD exists; God/GOD is an Engineer. So, as an Engineer, I aspire to be as good of an Engineer as GOD; seems like that Engineer created the whole of the Universe.
JamesE
JamesE,
I have received rants from CHIMP in the past, so I am not surprized at receiving one today. Even had I stated “coyotes can “evolve” into wolves”… I probably would have received one of his pedantric recitations of dogma laced with insults because I disagree with macroevolution.
Either way of saying it is valid as some wolves (canis anthus ) precede coyotes, according to wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_golden_wolf
I’m sure he was thinking of the gray wolf, canis lupus.
Since wolves and coyotes can hybridize, (see red wolf) my point is unaffected – that wolves and coyotes are just different varieties of the same creature type (canis)
Your point that God is an engineer is well put. I perceive him as a Master Engineer
SR
Chimp,
Chimp, you say:
“Macroevolution is simply microevolution with more time. A lobe-finned lungfish relative evolved into a tetrapod, ie a land-dwelling four-legged creature, by easy, small, gradual changes in the calcification of fin rods.”
Calcify fin rods all you want, and you will have merely a fish with rigid fins.
The genetic coding to give the lungfish fin rods is already present within lungfish genes, so stiffening fin rods isn’t an issue. At issue is How does the lung fish get hips and shoulder blades? Coding for hip bones and scapulae isn’t present in lung fish genetics. How does new coding develop for structures that did not exist before? Gene duplication and gene combination (your previous claims) do not produce codes for new structures.
Also, how would limb evolution work at the genetic level? 2 lower bones in each limb and 1 upper bone implies one code string for limb structure that is duplicated. A separate code string for each limb would mean each limb would have a different basic structure, having evolved randomly. Or are you suggesting a convergent evolution explanation? Convergent evolution that evolved each limb randomly to match the bone architecture of the other three limbs? For all types of animals?
So you agree with one code string that is duplicated? Did the first limb evolve fully before the copying code came into existence? Why would that happen? Pushing with one limb, going in a circle? Or did the copying code develop simultaneously with the first nubbin of limb bones? Why would that happen? That doesn’t sound random. You should also be asking these questions about the first fish fins.
Then there is fore and hind leg differentiation, and mirroring for left and right sides. Does that mean at one time there was one code string for the basic limb that was duplicated identically to all four corners of the torso, then later a code string developed with instructions for mirroring left to right? Then later a code string developed that would modify the limb code for the other end of the torso? This would require the mirroring code to mirror the limb code for one end of the torso before the modifying code did its thing, then mirror the modified limb code separately.
Evolutionary theory requires the mirroring code to develop randomly. Did early failed versions have limbs on one side rotated 45 degrees compared to the other side? Did hind limbs get mirrored accidentally compared to fore limbs, turning knees backwards? A mirroring code would have to be right from the very first go. There could be no fine tuning during subsequent generations, as there wouldn’t be any. Multiple fresh attempts at the mirror code would be needed. Why would a random process keep hacking at the same code modification?
Multiple points in a supposedly random evolutionary sequence requiring such a high degree of coordination in changes to different code strings – really?
It makes more sense for a complete genetic code to be created for each type of organism. Lung fish given a genetic code with some variation built in, and each tetrapod type given another code, also with some variation built in. Similar structures and similar chemical processes in each organism would have similar genetic codes.
And yes, If humans were intended to eat mushrooms, there needs to be similar chemistry. Common descent isn’t the only possible explanation for similar chemistry.
Chimp, have you thought through these questions? Your simple answers avoid the hard questions.
SR
SR
Chimp, thank you for proving every bad thing people have ever said about atheists.
BTW, I love the way you demand that those you disagree with be banned.
Makes you sound just like a warmunist.
Or maybe having a climate that changes is necessary for the Earth to be good, like plate tectonics and a magnetic field make the Earth a better place for us than Mars. It’s awfully hard to put God or how He creates in a box, He just doesn’t fit.
Wow! Thank you Steve. In one sentence you have removed all the anxiety about CAGW destroying the world. Of course God would not allow it. Now let us get our sanity back and stop spending trillions of dollars mitigating something which is not going to happen.
And some of those Baby Boomers are skeptics.
I hadn’t visited the tip jar in a while – done. I think I may have found Mr Dittes on FB. And not a million miles from your good self Anthony – if it’s the right chap.
Yes, he has a worrying proximity as well as demeanor. Don’t provoke him.
Too late. I poked him in both eyes and his Curly move to block it was too late.
I simply asked him why are we still living in an Ice Age with a 10,000 year’s Stall at +/- 1.0 degrees Celsius fluctuations from 15 degrees Celsius, when the 4.5 billion year history of Earth has a 17 degrees Celsius Mean? And I provided him with commonly accepted graphs found online, that even Tim Ball has used in articles here on WUWT. Like most people…he never responded back.
I visit here multiple times a day, and have over several years, but have commented maybe twice (I try to adhere to the old saw about keeping silent and letting people think I am stupid………). How arrogant of Mr. Dittes to perhaps subject his partner’s reputation and that of their consulting business to negative publicity because of his boorish behavior, unless of course it is representative of the mindset of the firm in general in which case it reveals solid reasons to bypass their services and find a company that consults with a more inclusive thought process.
I very much appreciate the give and take here among the denizens of WUWT and have learned much over the years and continue to do so, and I thank you (and all the contributors and those who comment regularly sharing their expertise- yes, you too Mr. Stokes) for that.
As for the likes of Mr. Dittes and those of his ilk, they are deserving of our pity rather than our scorn, because they must truly lead an unhappy existence. That said, I can think of a worthy destination for Mr. Dittes and would be happy to provide his transportation via hand basket.
Mr. Dittes can’t be a happy man with all that anger inside.
Mr. Dittes needs to practice a little meditation and calm down.
Good idea Anthony – can’t say I follow your sensible advice though.
In 2002 I wrote an article in the National Post, saying that Canada should not ratify the Kyoto Protocol. I received an angry, threatening email from a guy who held me personally responsible for the flooding of the Prague. Little old me! Flooded Prague! Who knew?
I replied: “Dear Sir, you are entirely correct. I am the One fully responsible for the flooding of Prague. Now “frac off” or I’ll do it again.”
Your antagonist is like the dog that chases every car; when he finally latches onto a bumper, what does he do then? 🙂
He buries it in the backyard? 😀
Thanks Jimmy!
This is a copy/paste from my blog’s dashboard: “22,151 Blocked malicious login attempts” It’s a very narrow audience, with very few haters (I hope).
Only 10,000 blocked login attempts?
Used to get that many a week till I moved my server and jiggered the firewall so only my IP address could reach it.
That was ssh
Plus serious denial of service attacks
Now they just try stupid web logins.
But since I don’t use wordpress or anything like it, they all fail.
If you aren’t getting >100 hack attempts a day, you aren’t visible on the net
Anyway, My donation is in.
Since I started publishing my website here a few donations have come via your site, so that’s commission!
Leo Smith
Just been to your site. I will donate, as I will to Anthony, not a lot as retirement is looming and the kids are still here, but it will come.
Fantastic site though, all that info in one place, a veritable gold mine for the concerned sceptic.
Only one small observation, I have to break out the Bifocals to read much of it. Might be my browser though, Opera. Usually rock solid though.
And, I love engineers. We can chuck out almost every other profession, but the world would end without you guys.
That’s so kind of you.
yes, and when a Eurotroll tries to tell me that I know nothing about interconnectors and the UK imports 18GW I do get a bit….irritated.
Since I’ve been looking at the dials for 7 years now.
Leo Smith
Yes, I remember your last debate on that subject a few days ago.
🙂
John Dittes said, “I hope you have a heat stroke you obfuscating …”
The guy doesn’t realize that people in the Sacramento Valley are used to heat. My father had a ranch 60 miles south of Chico. He came in early one day when it was over 100 degrees. Someone asked, “Was it too hot for you?”
The answer: “No, but it’s not good for the tractor I was driving.”
And obfuscating? That’s the stock in trade for most of the trolls who post here.
Exactly my thoughts. Obfuscation was harsh.
The rest looked pretty right, though…
Just testing a PNG to see if my comment below is true for all PNGs.
Hmm. That worked. So why won’t this one..??
How about this one?
Golly. It looks like it doesn’t like a hyphen in the image name
Yep. Don’t try and upload images that live in a directory called ‘adverts’
THOUGHT. Or is it my adblocker?
How many adverts can you folks see?
I get a ‘not secure’ warning in red in front of the https, which is also in red when using your link. That is with Chrome as the browser.
Odd that was fixed a week ago
On my main server anyway
(Gridwatch)
Fate freddies cat may be ‘insecure’
Can you say exactly WHICH link?
I tested em all after disabling ad blockers and no ‘not secure’ on CHROMIUM – haven’t got chrome….
So false alarm on pngs and adverts – issue was with me.
If anyone else gets any errors and warnings please say so
The Fat Freddy png link is giving a NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID error
which link are you referring to?
Leo
In Opera, I can see a broken link (first one), then an isobar map, then a rectangle showing The Scientific Alliance chart loud and clear.
Hope it helps.
I get the same using SRWare Iron (64-bit)… it’s Chrome with all the corporate phone-home spyware code removed.
Running Firefox/Linux here.
The first link shows as “comment image”
This is the Fat Freddies Cat and Chairman MAO.png link
Clicking on it produces an Insecure Connection warning.
The next three images all appear correctly.
Ok. I’ll have to try and fake up a certificate for that server
That doesn’t give errors.
Not for a week or two though.
Its a VERY old server…
Leo,
Try your web page here:
https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/index.html
There are a few problems with your current certificate.
@TonyL;
Ditto for me, running Chrome on a Windows 10 box.
Leo: Using Firefox and trying to open image link (a hyperlink labelled “comment image” in a new tab (with ad-blockers disabled) I get this message:
The owner of vps.templar.co.uk has configured their web site improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this web site.
The page that opens is otherwise blank but has a ‘Learn more’ link – here…
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/error-codes-secure-websites?as=u&utm_source=inproduct
hope that helps
Leo,
Your using a self signed certificate which is why people are getting security warnings. The certificate has to be issued by a trusted root certificate authority. A free 90 day certificate can be obtained from:
https://letsencrypt.org/
They have a list of ACME clients for automatic renewal every 55 days:
https://letsencrypt.org/docs/client-options/
Wow, this new server certainly gets my vote. It is obviously a vast improvement as only yesterday my comment got posted instantly without “waiting for moderation” (or any censorship) despite mentioning Nik**ov, Zel**r and Do*g Cot**on .
I’ll order the book.
The Reverend Badger
I have mentioned nazi’s, fascist’s and several other terms that would have had my comment in moderation before. No problem now.
But one short comment that mentioned nothing contentious at all was scooped up, peculiar.
TEST:
Loschmidt’s theory of a gravity induced thermal enhancement looks worthy of further experimental testing.
END TEST.
Some help is on the way.
Keep up the good work… and have a beer or two on me!
A donation seemed most appropriate. Done.
John Dittes is both ill-informed and rude.
Perhaps his mother died when he was a baby!
So for JD, here is a “tip” from my Mom:
“ If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”
You mother failed to give the another advice: don’t read the comment sections, because they’re always full of bile. With a notable exception; the Stephen Galloway article Judith Curry linked. I was astonished by the moderateness given the very controversial topic. Is it possible that an ex-lover charges with false rape allegations? Many were willing to believe her. However, the allegations were not taken into a court. Nevertheless, the university suspended and fired its professor, only to later admit its wrongdoing by a small, $167000 compensation.
I’m still trying to understand this. Is it so that you may be fired based on unsubstantiated claims, just because anybody defendending the defendant is considered a heretic? And people who made this happen, never realise they were listening to gossips, every after a justice has taken a civil investigation into the matter?
Are “we” completely own3d by the facebook campaigners that incite hatred?
Things seem a little chaotic at Amazon. I clicked Anthony’s link, and was transported to Amazon’s “we want to make sure you’re not a robot” page. After I keyed in the special code, I was presented with the “Sorry something went wrong” message. I hope sometime soon they can determine that I am not a robot, as I am a free man. At least they’re being polite about it.
amazon is having a free offer day and its servers cant keep up or something
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-44854564
But if you were a robot, you could be programmed to believe you were a human. . .
Donation complete. 10,000 malicious login attempts since the migration? Wow.
Anthony, I would guess you are getting a taste of what is was like for Galileo back in his day. The Pope, as I recall, put him under house arrest for his “heresy.” I image there are people out there who wish the same fate on you, if not something worse.
The treatment that climate skeptics receive today also reminds me somewhat of the treatment that “witches” received in Europe centuries ago (and in Salem here in colonial America). I imagine it is quite frustrating for the alarmists that they can’t treat skeptics quite the same way today….as much as people like Dittes would probably like to.
Best of luck in the years ahead and keep up the great work!
If it had just been about Galileo’s astronomy findings, there were notable scholars of astronomy in the Vatican who had also entertained the possibility of heliocentrism, and would likely have come to his defense. It was his unorthodox (to put it mildly) spiritual views published alongside his science that truly raised the eyebrow of the Pope. A very disagreeable, confrontational personality didn’t help his case, either.
Such nuance tends to be conveniently left out of the story, to make for a better morality tale about forward-thinking science being censored by small-minded religion.
The real problem that in his ‘Dialogue’ the Pope’s position was presented by a character called Simplicio ( which meant simpleton in italian). Not very tactful.
I’ll put $50 in the tip jar , and promise $5 for each purchase of my book bought over the next 7 days.
https://www.amazon.com/Landscapes-Cycles-Environmentalists-Journey-Skepticism/dp/1490390189
Happily bought a book thanks Anthony, I shall use it to convey factual information to friends of a less critical persuasion via the suitable methods – blows to the head.
Hi Anthony,
Made a purchase, my my monthly coffee fix, and sent in a bit of cash. Thanks to your dedication all of us who frequent this site are immeasurably enriched. Saying thank you seems hardly enough.
Exaggerate much, Mr. Dittes ? … Mr. Fits, … Mr. full of _________ ?
Roast ? Really ? Who’s roasting ?
Just ridiculous !
It might be roasting in parts of UpOver but it’s been pretty cold for this long winter in a lot of DownUnder.
Having said that, it has warmed up from -1C early to 15C at 1220 here in North Central Vic and the sun has come out, after days of cold, frost, fog, dreary cloudy dampness, lovely!
I tried Anthony, but it seems to be exclusive to Amazon Prime members ($12/month), which I am not.
Does the purchase have to be on Amazon Prime to help WUWT?
Odd, no it should be ok. Some items may be.
Ok thank you; I’ll try again…
Done!
I gave a donation…..trouble is the alarmists will claim you get funding from big oil because I get dividend checks from ETP energy transfer partners. …:)
I have a simple question for Mr. Dittes. Is he too lazy to investigate the actual data on the issue or is he totally incompetent in both mathematics and the scientific method?
While I understand all of the above might be the case I am giving him the benefit of the doubt and assuming it is only one of these things.
I hope my small donation helps. WUWT provides sanity in a debate that borders on the insane. Keep up the struggle, right will prevail in the end (hope it doesn’t take too long).

Done!
Done. And thanks for your diligence and enlightening posts Anthony. Keep the rationality flowing our way.
Made a Tip Jar donation – thanks again Anthony!
I tried Amazon a couple hours ago and it was toast, I think they were melted down by traffic.
John Dittes is right, there have been a lot of weather records recently…..record cold temperatures that is. Meanwhile, the level of CO2 increases steadily with no apparent effect. I wonder if John Dittes will ever notice from inside his Warmist cocoon.
Couldn’t figure out weather (see the pun?) to give $50 to the project or $50 to the trip; so did both.
Regarding John Dittes, this is enlightening:
The quote comes from http://www.manta.com: “Current estimates show this company has an annual revenue of 70000 and employs a staff of approximately 2”. Apparently the company is owned by a woman, Given the $70,000 company revenue figure, I wonder how much of an allowance she gives Johnny each week…
Hello Mr, Ditties,
I hope you can regain your sense of professionalism…if you ever had any.
A ‘C’ note on the way. I folded it into a paper airplane, hope you don’t mind. Open a window to let it in.
PS Tell idiots like John Dittes (rhymes with “Gittes”?) everything has a price. If Dittes will arrange a transfer of, say, $1M to your account, you will convert WUWT to a pro-AGW site. (Just don’t promise when exactly.)
If his name is pronounced the way you are suggesting, then it would explain a lot. He would have gotten teased mercilessly as a child. Maybe that’s where all the anger really comes from.
“Forget it, Jake. It’s Chinatown.”
If there was a problem, WUWT wouldn’t exist.
Thank God there isn’t a problem!
The hater, [email redcated] , is — surprise surprise — a contributor on a UC Berkeley project. The hate is very strong there.
Thanks Anthony. It’s well worth donating to your site just for the entertainment value.
Jim
Not quite sure which one Mr Dittes is:

I think he’s the irregular brown mass in the foreground.
I have made a donation to Anthony on John Dittes behalf, it is people like him that makes this all possible.
is it possible to have the amazon link perma linked on the side bar ? a lot of family members shop through amazon and i can encourage them to do so through the link provided from now on.
Anthony: This is definitely a site I will always support. I don’t subscribe to much of anything on line, but I’ll gladly donate here. Keep up the wonderful work.
Done!
Anthony, just a thought of auctioning off some signed copies of that book. I would bet many of the authors would be willing to throw some ink on something that could generate significant revenue for the cause.
OT and Just for the record. After tonights home run derby for the MLB, they showed a celebrity softball game. Bill Nye struck out in softball. I am certain it was from the CO2 driven temperature what done it! Nobody strikes out in softball, nobody. LOL
Awesome work Anthony! No need to reply to John Dittes as his tirade says everything I need to know about his little mind.
I closed my PayPal account because of….politics. It doesn’t really matter what politics, it’s staying closed. I’ll try to buy something from Amazon, but I sure wish people would find an alternative to PayPal.
The chart confirms my observations. I live in Regina SK which was in the centre on the ‘dry years’ of the 1930s. The news always gives the record highs and lows and none of the past couple of weeks have broken the highs from the 1930s.
Just sent US$200 to the donation account. By selecting to have the currency converted by Visa instead of Paypal it saved about A$10.
Tried to make a small donation bypassing PayPal with my Visa, from foreign parts but the site is U.S. centric and wont accept my details.
I read somewhere that denying foreign accounts is the default setting for many systems.
You have to manually turn off that feature.
Anthony appears to be tempted by alarmist numbers when it’s convenient to be so…
My WP dashboard of a niche, low-traffic site reads “53,159 Blocked malicious login attempts”. In fact such high numbers appear on several low traffic, unimportant sites I run. It’s running the same security product I believe.
Do some research before using random statistics of a panel which might not mean what you think they mean. Ask your own trusted expert! Leave such bad habits to climate media alarmists please!
How long has your site been up?
Gave my small donation (AND bout the Kindel book 🙂 ).
And a suggestion:
Why not add a tab for hate mails. This way we could all have fun with with them.
It’s good of him to notice the LOW temps being experienced in Oz

Given the fact there are so huge number of places, and it is mid-July, I’m not quite surprised there are a couple of high readings somewhere. In order to the CAGW to be a true C-AGW, we need to see high records from globally everywhere over and over again. That is not what has happened. Rather, we have mildly warmer, especially during the cold season. I can hardly see the reason for your anger. In the end, we both want that our money is used efficiently. So what I want is that money is not being used in energy politics in manners that are totally useless from YOUR perspective. That is, I don’t want huge amounts of money being poured into solutions that can not have an effect on climate even in theory.
You know, that China, India, Africa all are in a growing need of energy and will increase emissions, both CO2 and others. You also know, that despite trying hard, Germany has not succeeded in reducing emissions. I don’t believe Russia is even trying. The US has been reducing emissions, but it’s level is still higher than in China and the EU. Nobody thinks about Brazil, may be we should.
Could you just hold your horses on attacking our host, and try to give a practical solution on how to generate energy so that people would not die, without the CO2, methane, particulates, that you are so much afraid of? I’d happily drop human emissions to half the current, if we could do that without killing people (yes, killing, in large quantities). Why is that? Because only little of the energy is used for fun. Most of it is used for good reasons. Like keeping homes and workplaces warm or cold, moving food and stuff around, keeping the society running at large (imagine what happened with a great recession – yeah, energy poverty would kill people simply by making them poor in terms of money). Note that rising the price of the energy just makes poor people lacking energy. Giving them subsidies kind of fixes *that* but then you’ve created to markets, one Venezuelan where the government decides who gets energy at which price, and the free market where well-doing people do what they want. Do you want to punish Soros for being so rich? Don’t do it that way; he will not be punished so easily. But you could kill other people by rising the price of energy.
You can bark how much you want, but it is useless bark if you don’t have a way to move into a fossil free energy without causing a world-wide deep recession in doing it.
By the way, today I will enjoy on the last hot day of the summer. Probably around +31C. Kids like it now, they will need to go to school in two three weeks. And we really enjoy it. Last summer was frigid with temperatures rising only up to +21C (about 70F). You don’t much need a pool there, as the water will be cold (oh, I could warm it by using solar power right? Funny you.) My children just won’t know what cold water feels like, eh?
Why redact this moron’s email address? Actions have consequences and some of these wonderful people need a remote learning seminar on that topic …
That could possibly open up Anthony to legal action.
Anything liberal nut-jobs like Mr. Dittes accuse others of, they do themselves. Don’t hate, they lecture. Yet, they are full of hatred. Diversity, they preach. But, they are lockstep conformists — any “diversity” is entirely superficial. They demand free speech for themselves, but don’t allow opposing speech. Everything they accuse the current POTUS of, they are accomplished experts at doing. The list goes on and on.
If there is ever a national Freedom Medal given to those who have opposed the AGW “science” and agenda, Anthony’s name would be at the top. The new platform is much better. If I have contributed one thing that has been beneficial at ending the reign of terror by the alarmist, it’s been worth it. It’s been a learning experience. Simply because AGW has constructed an elaborate scam from half truths and slogans. Deconstructing them is time consuming. AGW makes Bernie Maddoff look like a petty thief.
Sent to Wifey so she can order through her prime account, she always needs more points.

$20 for WUWT is my pleasure. I didn’t buy the book because I’d already read it.
BTW, after I read such books, I like to leave them at a local Starbucks store that has a free book exchange. I haven’t been there for a while, but I have Mark Steyn’s “A Disgrace to the Profession” to drop off on my next visit. Once on the rack, some latte-sipping, brainwashed propaganda victim has at least a tiny chance of seeing and reading it.
The Heat Wave Index Chart is meaningful to me. My uncles and father were farmers who began the move from mid continent USA dust Bowl to western USA at precisely the greatest spike of the Heat Wave Index 1936-1937. Reason: Hard times, Great Depression, Dust Bowl.
Then WW2 began. Wounded in Battle for Rome. Out of hospital. On to Battle of Apennines, Battle of Po Valley. Nazis driven from Italy. Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal.
Free speech is one of our freedoms. Freedom is not free. Second donation sent.
A small donation winging your way Anthony. I bought the Kindle edition of the book earlier this year.
This site, since your migration, is a real pleasure. I love all the extras – like voting for comments, nesting, PLUS the highlighting of unread comments following a refresh (that is a real boon) etc. It was well worth all your hard work.
Just ordered the Climate Change book through your amazon link in the article. Every little bit help… 🙂

Hello Anthony,
I have made a donation to give you guys a hand. Thank you for printing my first posting on your site. I hope to include some new ones once things settle down around here.
Pat
Thank you for showing the heat wave graph. It reminds me of how often our record high temperatures in Fresno, California have occurs in the early 1900s, before our modern tainted recording locations.
Already bought the book, but donated again out of great gratitude for what you do! Keep up the great work!
I want to donate but don’t understand why I am being redirected somewebsite about a trip or vacation?
You probably have malware or a virus in your computer. There’s no redirection on my part.
Here is a direct link: http://www.surfacestations.org/donate.htm
…try that and please advise.
Thanks very much
Donation on the way (soon…the contingency $ for our renovations went to ensure our porch didn’t collapse…).
But I have to say Dittes is appropriately named.
“In Praise Of Carbon: Why Weve Been Misled Into Believing that Carbon Dioxide causes Climate Change.” Recently revised, and from that, stronger than ever.
