Following eight years under Obama, where there were few constraints on the fatuousness of their policies, or the damage caused by regulatory assaults on private property and individual rights, these little dictators are now looking for other thrones from which to elevate their radicalism.

The conventional wisdom that administrative agencies have been populated with political activists is evidenced by the lemming-like exodus of left-leaning bureaucrats from of the EPA. On July 19, Greenwire published an article titled, “EPA: The staffer escape network.” Its title infers something akin to a bureaucratic Underground Railroad; a conduit of freedom for government-funded activists who’ve gotten the boot by a new pragmatic, pro-energy, pro-states’ rights administration. However, a reading of Greenwire’s report reveals that these former EPA staffers are not seeking freedom, but are attempting to ensconce themselves into a non-governmental branch of the Deep State. The report says:
EPA alumni are banding together to help their former colleagues find new jobs. They’re creating job boards, passing résumés around and spreading the word via social media. They say it’s an unprecedented networking effort among ex-staffers that comes as many EPA employees are feeling marginalized by the Trump administration’s environmental policies.
But, more than an alumni group, these former EPA staffers appear to be seeking ways to continue their various environmentalist crusades outside of the revamped agency they feel has turned against them. The article continues:
Since the site launched last weekend, a few jobs have already been posted, Elkins said. FedEx Corp. posted a job for an environmental specialist. An EPA alumnus posted another opening at the California Air Resources Board.
He said the alumni group wants to serve as “a network for the people who are leaving EPA.”
Meanwhile, new social media accounts set up by current and former EPA staffers are also trying to support current EPA staff.
The Twitter account @RogueEPAstaff, which claims to be run by “staff, non-staff and some dude” — and has nearly 11,000 followers — posted the link to the jobs board early this week.

The Twitter account recently described staffers’ sentiments about the buyouts: “This is what we are all talking about on campus. 3 categories: 1) Fuck them, not leaving, 2) Scared for my job, 3) I’m leaving this shitshow.”
The Rogue EPA Staff Twitter account reads like a message board for climate hysteria, left-wing environmental radicalism, ‘Russia Collusion’ conspiracy theories, and whiners.

This development should come as no surprise to those familiar with the mentality of the environmentalist Left. The formation of so-called ‘resistance’ groups began on Day One following the presidential election. Groups such as AltBLM, AltNPS and others, are composed of both former and current bureaucrats who have come to feel entitled to taxpayer-funded jobs in which they perform political advocacy.
Following eight years under Obama, where there were few constraints on the fatuousness of their policies, or the damage caused by regulatory assaults on private property and individual rights, these little dictators are now looking for other thrones from which to elevate their radicalism. As the bureaucracy escaped accountability for the disastrous EPA-caused Gold King Mine spill, which polluted rivers in four states and resulted in billions of dollars of damage, so individual bureaucrats, like BLM agent, Dan Love, have gotten away with inhumane, unethical and criminal activities that would be harshly punished in the private sector. It’s a little disturbing that disaffected federal employees associated with the ‘Rogue EPA Staff’ and ‘Alt BLM’ are clinging to the bureaucratic evils perpetuated by these agencies for the past eight years.
Not unlike extremist groups such as the Sierra Club and Center for Biological Diversity, these EPA bureaucrats have come to regard themselves as the most-capable, most-moral defenders of the environment. The fact that Obama-era policies were largely based on ideologically-driven globalist agendas, and not actual science, doesn’t matter to these people, because, to the environmentalist Left, all means are justified when the ends mean saving the planet.

What’s the problem with people changing jobs, again? Or helping each other? It’s called “networking”.
Personally, I’m THRILLED that people are leaving the EPA and finding other employment. I’d do exactly the same if my company got new management and changed the corporate mission to something I didn’t want to contribute my time and effort to.
The problem seems to be the insidious infiltration of other organisations and private companies from where they feel justified in subverting a democratically elected government by sustaining a rebellious network. Despite them having been employed, and handsomely rewarded whilst working for the taxpayer funded EPA for years. Many will have received generous redundancy packages as well, no doubt.
But this is the nature of the loony left. As long as they have cushy jobs, “I’m alright Jack”.
And you could say the same thing about the loony right and our defense spending and wars of aggression against countries that would never be an existential threat. I find that a whole lot more disturbing and it eats up ten times as much of the federal budget. Unfortunately many so called lefties are following the loony right when it comes to defense spending and war.

Remember WW2? That was at the hand of the Nationalist Socialist Party, Hitler’s Nazi Germany.
Then there’s 20th Century Communist China, another loony left organisation that has accepted right wing, western capitalism as a peaceful means of trade and progression in the 21st Century.
Communist USSR has turned to capitalism, and freed from the tyranny of Communist repression, it’s population is now prospering.
But Communist Cuba and N. Korea are still oppressing their populations for the benefit of a privileged few.
America and the UK took up arms against oppressive regimes, to defend free countries, not just their own, against Communism. Iraq was a monumental mistake, but guess what political persuasion Tony Blair is, yep, a blind, ideological, left wing socialist.
The left and their socialist/communist beliefs have been responsible for more misery on this planet that free trading Capitalists have ever been. And were we free of the scourge of socialism, the free market could provide for everyone, even the poor and destitute, who would benefit from empathy rather than derision for being spongers.
My understanding is that the Muslim faith insists, but not mandates, that everyone provides 5% of their income for the needy. An entirely voluntary contribution based on humanity, not bureaucracy. Their history is steeped in free trade and the acquisition of wealth. Whilst socialism exhibits little more than the politics of envy and elitism.
Socialism is an ideology that has failed at every turn, but continues to flourish in the weak minds of intellectual zealots who care nothing for the poor. And those intellectuals predate on the youth of society, converting them to their cause, in the full knowledge that our youth are ideological prey.
Socialists are no better than ISIS.

@ Hotscot. Where did I say a single thing about the governments of other countries? Nowhere. The subject I thought was “America’s” loony left unless the EPA is in some country other than ours. My complaint was about our country spending more than half its budget on a military whose spending on defense is more than about the next six or seven countries’ defense spending combined. The bitch of people here was how much was being frivolously spent on our EPA as if this is some vast sum that is going to send us all to ruin. It is paltry compared to what we spend on defense. That was my point.
And from a narrow comparison of the present spending by America on the EPA versus spending on the Defense Department, you somehow leave the topic of American politics of today and expand the comparison to the whole world of the last century, and lump both fascists and communists around the world for the last century with America’s so called left of today.
As for socialism, if you don’t like it, don’t send your kids to public schools or spend your social security check, or get medicare. Don’t drive on our highways or get on our bridges. If the government has anything to do with helping its citizens other than by defending us with the most expensive war machine ever made, that is apparently socialism to you.

You ignore the cost of compliance with EPA regulations, which is sometimes a transfer to favored players, like wind and solar investors.

@ Marty In 1954, Eisenhower made his famous domino speech concerning Indochina. We were in Indochina long before Kennedy. But given the US’s history and its constant warring with somebody, I think it makes no sense to argue about whether a Democratic or Republican president started a particular war or who finished it. But I do think that when it comes to the actual spending for Defense, Republicans spend far more than Democrats. Trump just recently announced that we need to spend lots of money to upgrade our military because Obama hadn’t been spending enough.

As a owner of a business, I don’t hire people who left companies due to “their support for a cause “. People get hired to perform a task. I fire employees who “band together “. Those are “clics”. Work rules and objectives are clearly stated and adhered to. No agendas, no causes, no religious or non-American activities while on the clock. There is only support for business activities.
Cliff, You have cut to the bone here. I ran a company with strict conduct rules covering manner of dress, language, and other work related issues. Political buttons, advocacy, confrontational attitudes, and the like had many out the door in the first 30 days. My service teams were the highest paid and worker longevity was never a problem. The first item in the employment agreement read, “(the company) exists to provide a profit to the owners.”

The inherent contradiction in capitalism is that the owners want profits and which means owners want to pay as little as possible to workers who produce the goods and services the owners want produced, which in turn means the workers themselves can’t afford the goods and services they produce for the owners of the businesses. And of course offshoring all the labor in the industrial sectors to other countries has left most of Americans with flat or declining wages since about 1976.
Capitalism has failed most Americans since that time and it is getting worse by the day. Along about 2030 robots and computers will be able to do nearly all jobs better than humans at far lest cost to the owners of business. What do we do then?
Maybe we need to come up with business entities where it is not all about the profit of the owners because we don’t have much time to figure this out.
In the US, there have been a number of stories where an employee of a large company or a fast food chain refused to serve a unformed police officer.
Those employees should have been publicly fired on the spot. If the manager didn’t do it, they should have been fired.

I don’t know what you call socialist policies. The first thing about capitalism in America is that it’s major business model is the for-profit corporation. The founding fathers were, who were certainly capitalists, were quite wary of the for-profit corporation. The dumped the tea of the East India Tea Company in the Boston harbor. After that they continued to oppose corporations and for the longest time in the US, corporate charters were only good for 20 years. At the end of 20 years, legislatures got to vote as to whether the corporations got to have their charters renewed. If the legislatures felt the corporation had not benefited enough of the population, charters died.
People today complain about excessive regulation. Well losing a corporate charter is far more excessive than any regulation we have today. Eventually in our history, corporate charters became perpetual, once corporations got enough influence in legislatures. Is this your idea of socialism? That there is too much regulation when at one time legislatures could revoke corporate charters?
Corporate charters are issued by a state government and as such they are creatures of the state. Does that make them socialistic? And why do people incorporate? To avoid personal responsibility. There is no other reason to incorporate other than to avoid personal responsibility by the owners, directors and management of the corporation. Do I need to repeat that?
So if a corporation is a creature of the state and the state bestows vast amounts of benefit on the people who incorporate in the form of limited liability, when will people understand that the state should have every right to regulate corporate activity.
Maybe everybody needs to go to law school and take a corporations class. But this idea of too much regulation is utter legal garbage.
True in theory. However, self-dealing by the regulators is the norm, as is regulatory capture, where the regulations are used to arrange an advantage for one, or a cartel, of those regulated. “Regulation” is like all government activities, something that should be viewed with suspicion.

As for your silly notions about a robot driven economy where all jobs are gone, I’d say you’re assuming too much. I agree that automation and robots and $15 /hr. minimum wage regulations are going to push business owners to look for even more ways to put machines to work to avoid hiring lazy, entitled millennials. But free associations and idea creators will always be looking for new ways to create wealth. Investors will always want to have a piece of the good ideas and help them come to fruition. And profits will continue to be the incentive for wealth creation for a long, long time to come. And with wealth creation comes jobs, so long as they add value.

They better have other skills because jobs in their line (like pony express riders) are shrinking fast. Take a plumbers course or move to California – they would have a year or two before it collapses, too.

They didn’t actually lose their jobs. Nobody was fired. What happened was, they decided they didn’t want to work for a government that wouldn’t give them the power anymore, so they are going someplace where they do have power. At the same time, pretending that they were forced out.
More like their job descriptions were changed to something they found unacceptable like ‘disseminating facts’

I have taught no few young women to shoot, and those first 5-6 rds they do tend to flinch. Then you see that moment, the “wow, its not really that bad” moment and they really get into it. Love those moments. Ranks right up there with seeing the realization a new shooter gets when they figure out they can hit that steel gong at 500 meters, and then start pumping rds into it like they were standing there banging it with a hammer.

One of the least rewarding functions of my career was the ongoing effort to combat bureaucratic interference, the lead in the saddle problem. Time after time an edict would appear out of nowhere, causing incommensurate hours to fight it back into its box. After I retired, this effort to combat seemed to lapse in Aust and so now we have much more of the bad stuff. It does not matter too much if these scheming ignorant people are in an EPA or outside it doing their subversion. It still has to be fought. I was never able to get close enough to any of these rodents to work out what motivated them, but suggest that you need to get a handle on motivation if you are going to neutralise them. Their motivation, in my experience, is very clear (although they think they’ve masked it). it’s the subversion of the democratic, free-market, capitalist way of life that has underpinned the remarkable advances of the free world.

There could be an argument for this but the reality is that there is no scale of value for feelings so we have a situation where the sensitivity of a few outweighs the clear needs of the many. A bureaucrat once told me quite openly in an inquiry that the sole purpose of a rule change about a certain kind of development was to “reduce the exorbitant profits” that the department thought the proponents of the development would make. No other reason whatsoever. After a long discussion of costs and returns and the economics and lack of any other reason for the rule, the rule was rescinded. Still many of the bureaucrats, though placated, still believed profit was a bad thing so their rule had been reasonable.
I once had to opportunity to audit the efficiency of a couple of government agencies. No wonder they thought there must be exorbitant profits – at their level of productivity, there would be no profit at all, ever.
It was a great insight into the thinking of many people in government with their huge perks who have no idea how hard some folks work to earn a living outside the government womb.

When I was working on the hydraulic hybrid UPS truck for the EPA in Ann Arbor, Michigan I noticed a lot of SUVs in their parking lot, typical leftist hypocrites.
No surprise, most everyone in AA has “reasons” that the rules don’t apply to “them.” Look at how much they love Harbaugh’s absolute lack of political correctness, simply because he wins.
The exodus at the EPA should be included in the case to overthrow the CO2 endangerment finding. Such findings are required to be the products of sound, scientific reasoning, and not driven by political activism. The EPA should do its job no matter who sits in the White House or congress. Elections should have very little impact on the science based function of the EPA. The reaction we are seeing from the staffers is solid evidence that they are political activists and not scientists. Consequently, their ‘science’ during the Obama years is called into question, and needs to be reexamined by capable scientists.

Let us hope that their files will be flagged as “ineligible for rehire”. But I’m betting most will just weasel into some other government job somewhere. People like these can’t be expected to work for a living (nor to be able to work).
Beyond parody. As this is the impression that people regulated by various Federal agencies have of the employees of some agencies, confirmation that the staff are humorless zealots for their cause is almost making me doubt the reality of the source.
I do believe the source is real, though, and this is why the EPA or certain other agencies in Justice and other parts of the Federal government should be “reorganized”, I.e. eliminating most of the current staff and transferring the useful parts to a different agency.

Stories like this must be publically documented and appropriate legal responses meted out for each department. The whole would form an indictment for an entire radicalist, feloneous previous administration. And if justified, ‘lock her up’, too.
An investigative team looking into the secretaries and administrators of all the departments of the previous administration, would be the best way to dwarf the bogus Russian story. These people were appointed and hired to facilitate the most subversive international governance agenda ever known. The findings would be a bombshell. How could this be done? Are their Fed employees who would come forward?
There will be no dwarfing of the Russian story for two reasons: the hatred of Trump, the outsider, is too deep and, living in their own bubble world, the media and the Democrats they give orders to think we live in that world, also. They really do think they are convincing us by publishing false allegations of criminal behavior on the part of Trump and his administration to dump our support.
What they can’t ever accept is that most of us Trump voters are “Never Progressivists”. We may not like some of Trump’s bumps and wrinkles, but Hillary would have had us throwing up. I have gone from disgust at mainstream media to utter hatred of it during the last six months. I no longer watch the newscasts of any of them, including Fox. The exception is when Fox carries Trump’s speeches live.
To me the media and the fired Greenies they control have become irrelevant.

They get to claim victim/martyr status, and any potential employer gets to virtue signal to their heart’s content if they hire them. Win-win.
I think my corollary to Jerry Pournelle’s Iron Law of Bureacracies applies here. The Iron Law says every buracracy has two groups, one that supports the goals of the organization, and one that supports the organization. Over time, the second group gains control.
My corollary is that the controlling group distorts the organizational goals, replacing them with their own personal goals. This is only one problem with government agencies, but probably the biggest problem.
So the only option is a regular dismemberment and reallocation of resources combined with a newer, narrower focus?
That is one approach. The composition of almost every military organization is continuously changing, from the top to the bottom, as personnel rotate in and out. Shore-based agencies and activities usually have a civilian component that is more stable and can be an issue.
Another issue is the “perceived customer” that the agency thinks it is “serving.” The customer is always right. Who is the EPA serving? Who is the Department of Education sering? I would guess special interest groups. Military organizations usually serve other military special interests. They all survive by satisfying the needs of their customers.
SRI, I resigned from the Federal government while at the management level because the ONLY determination of one’s value was the ability to make one’s boss look good. And they were uniformly worthless.

Bureaucrats never have to depend upon their product or their service for their profit or paycheck. Whether or not they do a good job, mediocre job, or no job at all, the bowels of government are going to keep the dollars and bennies coming to these useful idiots. They do not and cannot function in the real world where someone can look up from a desk—or walk into your office—and fire you for being lazy, stealing, incompetent. Firing a bureaucrat? Maybe if he/she shot someone at work. Maybe. Otherwise, you have to eliminate their job.
It’s the age-old question of who will stay up all night with a sick cow— the bureaucrat or the cow’s owner? It’s why Russia’s crops (tomatoes, perishables, etc) often lay rotting in their fields at harvest time because the central government couldn’t coordinate the machinery needed for its short window of harvest, transportation to its processing facilities, or distribution for consumption to people who had the ‘right amount of chits or money’ to obtain it . . . why it always was a good idea to pack a couple roles of TP if you had occasion to travel in Russia last century.

Reminds me a bit of when the air traffic controllers went out on strike during the Reagan administration and were ordered back to work and many refused…..so they were fired. They sat on useless “picket lines” in some cases for years, thinking they would get their jobs back rather than moving on.
Having lost their comfortable and non strenuous seat on the taxpayer funded Gravey Train….it will be interesting to see how these EPA passengers survive in the harsh REAL world.

I would not worry too much about fired EPA staffers. What I would worry about are EPA staffers who are still working in the EPA and who would get together with other activists to plan how to undermine Trump’s actions from inside the EPA. That sounds like what they are doing. Trump needs to make a list and check it twice.
Using the EPA logo might be an issue. Aside from that, if they are no EPA employees, sure, they’re free to use their past employment in an online resume. “I pretended to use science to promote political crap. Hire me!”

I briefly looked at the links, and haven’t seen anything to support that the EPA employees were fired. Looks like they’re “voluntarily jumping ship” (of course this could be in lieu of being fired).

To a very significant extent, and this is beyond the grasp of many conservatives, control of government is not just an opportunity to implement policy but IT IS THE MEAL TICKET for many on the Left. Without explicit or at least implicit support from government, a large part of the Left would be jobless.
For my part, I will never think that I will be able to change the views of these people, but at least I will take comfort in the knowledge that I am no longer paying their salary.
The Left is absolutely beside themselves over the appointment of Administrator Pruitt. And that means that he was EXACTLY the person that needed to be appointed.
There are points in common with private sector employees who get a few friends together jump ship and form startups based on the most exciting, most highly profitable pieces of their past work.
There is a major point of difference with this EPA story. This is, there is no exciting work to be flogged from the EPA. If you ran off with the highly profitable part you would soon be in jail for extortion and similar crimes.
