New best bros Arnold Schwarzenegger and French President Emmanuel Macron met in Paris to talk about the Paris climate agreement and global warming. They also teamed up for a selfie video not-so-surreptitiously aimed at you-know-who: that other president.
The video, posted to Schwarzenegger’s Twitter account on Friday, is labeled: “With President Macron, a great leader.” The former California governor says on it: “I’m here with President Macron. We’re talking about environmental issues and a green future.”
Macron adds: “And now we will deliver together to make the planet great again.”

Trump had previously scorched Schwarzenegger for poor ratings when he took over “Celebrity Apprentice” from the president (though Trump always exaggerated his own ratings).
Schwarzenegger shot back that maybe Trump should head the reality program again, and let Schwarzenegger move into the White House.
I can’t help thinking Macron is going to be a one hit wonder as French President, a bit like Schwarzenegger’s run with The Apprentice.
France has very real problems – out of control illegal immigration related violence, a major domestic terror threat, and a very shaky economy.
President Macron wasting his time grandstanding, taking cheap shots at President Trump, is not doing anything to fix those problems.
Is it true that Arnie believed the movies he was doing were real events?

And if States don’t have those powers, they can’t grant them as charters to cities either.
Of course, Congress may have given the store away as the third paragraph says:
“No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.”

Constitutional law is tricky:

He also distinguished formal ‘treaties,’ which were expressly forbidden to states, from ‘agreements’ and ‘compacts’ that Congress could authorize.”
The term “agreement” is rather slippery. In reference to a treaty, it’s denied to States; however, non-treaty agreements may be authorized. Now, did Congress grant agreements as a “carte blanche,” or do States have to get the approval of Congress in each case? In any case, Congress can revoke its approval.

Just as some Californians, I am completely in favor of California (or part of it, at least) seceding from the rest of the US. Once accomplished, San-San (San Diego – San Francisco) should be completely cut off from the mainland, including all of the electrical power (coal-fired) that they get from other states (Intermountain Power Project was almost 100% at the behest of the L.A. Basin, who didn’t want “dirty” coal generating electricity in their back yard … ). Cut off all Air Traffic Control, cut off all water, and especially cut off all the Federal tax subsidies going to San-San.
Wonder how long they’d last. Maybe a week?

It will not be long before France is re-elected. Spanish, Italian, Maltese, Greek, and Portuguese conditions have long taken possession of France. This is why Trump can sit back and relax, the large macaroon bake is already cold.

You appear be confusing the presidential elections with the parliamentary elections, in the parliamentary elections there were more than ‘two people on the paper’. About 60% of the representatives elected were supporters of Macron.
In the presidential elections where there were only ‘two people on the paper’ the turnout was ~75% of which Macron won 66%.
By comparison about 55% of the US electorate voted in the recent presidential election of which Trump gained 46% so by your logic Trump can rely on just over a quarter of the US electorate’.

That is not right. There were also two ballot elections in the parliamentary elections, so that in the second round, in fact, in many cases only two persons or parties were in the election. In addition, Macron has no 60 per cent majority in parliament. His party, La Republique en Marche, received 306 seats of 577. The other seats of his government were given to Mouvement démocrate (MoDem), the coalition partner. The electoral participation in the second ballot was only 43 per cent and of these 43 per cent, 10 per cent still gave a false or empty ballot. Since I made a mistake, it chose not more than half a third of Macron, but a little more since the 10 percent of the wrong electoral cards went off the 43 percent and not from all the electorate. I do not know, however, a Minister nominated by Trump who resigned before his appointment. There were usually several in the selection, but those of Trump finally nominated have also adopted the selection. Unlike Macron, whose ministers resigned after the selection. Actually 4 seats were chosen in the first round, 2 of which went to Macron’s party (total 308). By agreement with the MoDem his party did not contest the seats in which MoDem were running. Consequently 350 deputies who supported Macron were elected (60.66%).
@Phil. Well, that supports my view. Such agreements exist between coalition parties. Nevertheless, Republique en Marche is not MoDem, but there is a coalition. If so, in Germany it is with CDU / SPD currently still higher majorities for the government. Nevertheless, the CDU is not the SPD. Macron did not have a good start. There were more than 400 mandates after the primaries, only 306 he got after the second round, so that he had to coalesce to carry out the essential reforms. I also read in the case of Trump of 3 Viceministers, who correspond to us and in France Secretaries of State (#staatssekretäre) no ministers, who resigned before the hearing. In addition, Puzder has not resigned, but he was forced to come because of the conclusion that he had employed a foreigner without a work permit. A No Go at Trump.

I didn’t, two posters above suggested that Macron was not well supported and gave (faulty) statistics to support that. I pointed out that Trump had even less support based on that metric. The OP said that Trump represented “the will of the American people”, and that this was an attempt to “overturn US voters’ decision to embrace President Trump’s repudiation of the Paris Agreement”.
Well on that basis Macron represents ‘the will of the French people’.
Macron: 66% of 75% (sic.) about 43.6% of the electorate.
Trump: 46% of 60% about 27.6% of the electorate.

How many wind turbines does it take to replace a nuclear plant and guarantee 24/7 power that’s stable and uninterrupted? The infrastructure would have to be massive and “apparently widely distributed” to begin to compete with the energy density of nuclear power.

Not a single person here is denying that Arnold has a right to speak his opinion, but he does not have the right to avoid criticism for his words and actions.

He can only hope. No one can ever attain the level of Leonardo.
He’s trying desperately to resurrect a floundering career, by pandering to his Hollywood peers.
He’s already lost his fan base.

Being as concerned as he is about CO2 emissions, there’s no way he’d even consider flying there in a CO2 spewing, fossil fuel powered plane, right? Right???
He had special ”green” fabric sent back from the future and constructed a small sailing vessel of reclaimed plastic products he found lying around the beach and sailed, so he wouldn’t ”pollute” with the plant food that gives the planet life.

The planet has not been better for a long time, plants are thriving and the planet is greening. The only ones who can not like that are the Greens.
Arnold pretty much goes with the crowd and he’s surrounded by eco-nuts, so that’s his whole perspective. It’s not like you can accuse him of creativity. He has VERY basic business and promotional understanding. His entire career is based on a couple of two and three word catch-phrases that were written for him – basically in one movie – all to keep him from having to say too much.
Perhaps he should just focus on population control by leaving his housekeepers alone.
Trump is an egotistical bully or clown depending on your point of view. He marginally won an election, albeit with fewer votes than crooked H. He certainly is not an expert on climate change or any other science – he hasn’t the intellect for it.
Schwarzenegger has every right to talk to whomsoever he wishes. Whether you agree or disagree with his views on climate change is of course a personal judgement (I largely don’t agree with them).
Vilifying those who hold views at variance to your own should not be a feature of the greatest democracy in the world, but a behaviour expected of a despot or dictator.

Trump seems to be an expert on climate change, he said it’s a scam. It is a scam.
Trump certainly mastered the science of staying competitive in a changing high stakes world.
Which part of ”climate signts” do you think is science Terry? The part about insulation being able to stop light from arriving at the earth, but make the earth warm like more light reached it?
You don’t need a science degree to figure out that never was, isn’t now, and never will be science.
