I don’t think anyone, including Dave Attenborough, can stop violence in prions. Prions aren’t even as smart as viruses. There’s just no chance of that happening. Orson Scott Card wrote a very long treatment of the subject in his “Ender” series; prions are Djur, “capable of independent thought and action, but their mode of communication could not relay any meaningful information to the subject because the djur itself lacked the capacity for rational thought and self-awareness”.

If I lived in a large building with continuous guards, heating and lighting, I would have thought the per capita energy requirement would be greater, not less. The fact that an individual prisoner might not use much energy is minor – the total system uses a LOT…

I think our warmist friends are not really taking advantage of the situation. They could use the time spent in prison to brainwash the inmates to become better citizens. They could even encourage prison time for younger criminals to start the process early too!

Anthony. I was surprised to see to see an ad for the South African government’s Department of Environment Affairs on this WUWT post. While it is exuberant about conserving rhinos, this department is also besotted by carbonophobia, and is pushing for the introduction of a carbon tax in this population- and job-stressed country. I know Word press sells advertising, but is there no say over what appears on WUWT? It is also telling that a government department can see fit to use public money to advertise on a skeptic blog! Why?
