The policy outcome of this tragicomedy will likely be a major infusion of foreign money into India’s economy with will cause major growth in coal production, consumption, and imports. Their economic growth will push into double digit percentage rates and carbon output may double in the process. The other tragedy is that they will reward India’s policy of local content on all the investment of renewable energy, continuing the unfair trade practices that have held back India and the global economy for generations.

The comments about the governor refer to his duplicity, using state employees to assay his property for oil. The article includes a surprising paragraph about an about-face on hydraulic fracturing by Tony Blair:
