The shameless attempt by green activists like Prince Charles and President Obama, to link Climate Change and the Syrian Civil War, has just lost even more credibility thanks to The Guardian;
Is climate change really to blame for Syria’s civil war?
Prince Charles is the latest high-profile figure to echo claims that ‘securitise’ the conflict. But the evidence just doesn’t stack up.
Was the Syrian civil war partly caused by climate change? Prince Charles, for one, seems to think so. “There is very good evidence indeed that one of the major reasons for this horror in Syria was a drought that lasted for about five or six years,” he told Sky News, adding that climate change is having a “huge impact” on conflict and terrorism.
The Prince is not alone on this one: he joins a chorus of voices making similar claims. In the US President Obama, Al Gore, and the democratic presidential hopefuls Martin O’Malley and Bernie Sanders have all talked of a link between climate change and the Syria conflict, Sanders going so far as to argue that climate change is “directly related to the growth of terrorism”.

This time round, there at least appears to be some scientific support for the climate-conflict thesis: a study by Earth scientists at Columbia University, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, found: “Climate change is implicated in the current Syrian conflict”. The problem is, this study is deeply flawed.

When even the über green Guardian expresses skepticism of a climate scare story, that horse isn’t going to get up and go for a gallop, no matter how hard you flog it.

My TV remote control finger is tired. ‘Paris conference, blah blah, could, blah, blah climate change…’ CHANGE THE CHANNEL is what I do. Shame on Al Jazeera, oil funded broadcasting conflict of interest fools. Shame on the BBC pension scheme funding big oil and tobacco. Why don’t these folks ever experience the shame of hypocrisy?

Did I hear the Syrian government taking money via ISIS oil sales? Did I hear Turkey too? I have had enough of this sh!t and so do not worry about our ever changing climate causing the Syria crisis. The cause of the crisis is somewhere else. Think Spring time and bushes, but not co2.

Prince Charles is apparently suffering from a “deflated ego” problem given the fact that Prince William has now replaced him as “front page” news.
Charles now has to do whatever it requires to get his name back on the “front page”.
Corbyn Emissions Linked to global terrorism.
Today, the great Climate Con. in Paris highlighted the global danger of Excess Corbyn emissions..
The only way to curb these, it seems, is with renewable enemies.
Therefore we must work actively and pay taxes to create more renewable enemies, by bombing any towel head that we decide looks like the usual suspects.
Wars should not be allowed to stop: Instead a new sustainable climate of fear must be generated.
And reducing Corbyn emissions is the key to sustainable enemies.
Climate change is now *so* yesterday, today its global terrorism, back in front of you, available on all apps and smart devices. Shame about the owners…

I mean, without a proper climate of fear, who would pay their taxes?
I hate to state the obvious, but if climate change causes war, and war causes death and death causes a reduction in the use of fossil fuels, ans a reduction in fossil fuels causes a reduction in CO2 emissions, … well, you can connect the dots.
Let me argue that climate change is indeed at least partly responsible for middle east unrest. Years ago climate alarmist Al Gore promoted biofuels as a solution the the climate scam he helped start. Using food for fuel caused the price of food to increase, hurting millions (but who cares when you are trying to get elected president.)
The increased food prices seriously hurt low income people in the third world and unrest followed. That toppled several governments. (But why should Al Gore care about how many he hurt – he made close to $1/2 BILLION from his scam.)
Bottom line: Al Gore’s climate scam resulted in higher food prices which started the current round of Middle East unrest and climate alarmist are too busy raking their share of the $1.5 TRILLION annual loot to care who gets hurt (or dead.) Despicable!

Once upon a time there was a place called Columbia University, a place with legitimate scholars and scientists, then, all of a sudden, around 2004, and without warning, they all turned into a bunch of radical know-nothings, producing writing that feeds the inane rants of the “bellicose class.” It’s one of the great sociological mysteries of this era.
Columbia U has had a reputation as Communist College a lot longer than 11 years.
Columbia U was a noted “intellectual haven” for US communists during the Cold War.
Noted American radical Leftist, terrorist-murderer, and Advisor to Barack Obama, Bill Ayers received a Masters and Doctorate in education from Columbia U in the 80’s where the faculty admired his 60s-70s exploits in anarchy and bombings.
Indeed, Columbia U faculty and alumni have been actively engaged in Communist and Socialist message invasions into US academic curriculum for decades. So much so, that any Columbia grad should be a priori barred from any US academic curriculum development activities. Unfortunately, the stupid US voter elected a closet communist and Columbia U grad as POTUS.
Finally, the Columbia-Climate scam connection is clear in the close academic association between NASA/GISS and Columbia’s Program in Earth Science. Lysenkoism is a modern day incarnation there with activist-pseudo scientist James Hanson, one of the Church of Climate Change’s top Cardinals (if not its de facto Pope), directs the Program on Climate Science, Awareness and Solutions at Columbia University’s Earth Institute.
Mark, unfortunately no mystery involved.
It started in the 1960’s and hit critical mass in the mid 90’s when a new generation of utopian idealists sought to remake the world in their ideal image.
Like all Utopias they are failing and falling hard. We see the results in the Orwellian educational institutions and no now progressive governments which they have created.
The law of (at best ), unintended consequences is oozing out of everything they touch.
So was how the years leading up to WW2 began.
Those who refuse to learn the lessons of the past are indeed doomed to repeat them……..
Can this be used as a legal defence, I wonder. “It weren’t me guv, was global warming made me do it, see!” Giving such an excuse to killers is indicative of the brainlessness of some high profile nutters.

27 Nov: BBC: Matt McGrath: COP21: Public support for tough climate deal ‘declines’
Public support for a strong global deal on climate change has declined, according to a poll carried out in 20 countries.
Only four now have majorities in favour of their governments setting ambitious targets at a global conference in Paris.
In a similar poll before the Copenhagen meeting in 2009, eight countries had majorities favouring tough action.
The poll has been provided to the BBC by research group GlobeScan…
The findings will make sober reading for global political leaders, who will gather in Paris next week for the start of the United Nations climate conference, known as COP21…
The number rating climate change as a very serious issue in richer countries declined significantly from 2009, while support for strong action at the Paris conference has only grown in three of the 20 countries polled…

When you ask the Church of AGW “Where are all those tens of millions of climate refugees you prophesized?”, they point to all these people fleeing war zones and go “There! There!” When you point out the wars, they blame the wars on AGW.
Bernie Sanders, US Senator and presidential candidate, thinks terrorism is caused by “climate change”…not radical political, ethnic, religious, or economic ideology.
Remember folks, if we can only pump all the CO2 underground, there will never be any war, storms, or anything bad ever happen again.
What is odder is how Paris was terrorized last week and now we are supposed to resume being scared to death because it might possibly be warmer than the Little Ice Age. This fear mongering has gotten totally out of hand.
The Left has perfected the process of never letting a crisis go to waste and if they can piggyback Climate Alarmism on the back of a recent Islamic Terrorist Attack*, then so be it.
(*Obama would never call it that, but then he’s trying to brainwash everybody out of the obvious.)

I wish the Queen good health for at least another 20 years on the throne. The prospect of Charles on the throne with his perverse and inane inputs and attempts at mischievious influence behind the scenes is probably the best UK Republicans’ 5th Columnist that they could ever wish for!
If the good scientists at the Earth Island Institute of Columbia University produce science for purpose on demand shouldn’t that lead to further questions. These scientists are the lunch partners of Hansen’s old crew at the same University.
While applauding the Guardian for this piece we can reasonably ask that they apply the same skeptical technique to other studies. That is what the scientists here have been doing for years.
In an area with scares precipitation and need for water from sources controlled by Turkey a drought might worsen the situation. But it is normal, especially when Turkey are building dams to control the flow.
No climate can control that!
When even the preposterous Guardian has to distance itself from the stupidity of Charles’ Syria drought-climate claim you know he’s taken weapons grade climate nonsense to a new level.

Clicking the link to “leading NGO” brings a report funded by the G7 Foreign Ministers which has an interesting blurb about fostering new work methods between social and physical science.
To me this highlights the uber successful approach that has corrupted so much of science in our time. In the USA two very senior politicians who specialized in funding climate science had the same reaction when ask about Climategate “more research”
They used the money to get all branches of science into gear. Then the bought science is used to drive policy and the economy. The politicians in this case were very tender gardners.
Climate Change formerly Global Warming is an amazing beast to behold. Coming to the USA from a country physically divided by Communism I can only compare it to that. How many years were wasted arguing against the intellectually dishonest and obtuse while we prayed for relief. We had our year of miracles. Unfortunatley this time it’s worse.
Climate Change alarmism builds no visible walls plain for all to see. There are no uniformed armies parading across the TV screen. Invisible and pervasive like a gas it blankets freedom of thought.
Still, we did not fold in the earlier battle. That steadfastness is our great hope.
The climate fruitcakes like Chuckles do serve a purpose for the Climatist bandwagon; they make the dangerous blatherings of the IPCC look “reasonable” by comparison.

CO2 is greening up the planet and even deserts from atmospheric fertilization….we know this with absolute certainty because of observations. The indisputable law of photosynthesis predicted this and it will continue if CO2 goes higher.
However, we have speculative theories based on programmed computer models that suggest to some that deserts and droughts will expand because of climate change from increasing CO2. Those using this information, apply it to every convenient individual weather/climate extreme/drought as an example that proves their point.
Problem is, that it does the exact opposite. Making a connection between an individual drought and climate change(when global drought HAS NOT increased), when the drought is located in a political “hot spot” just shows that those using this for ammunition are basing it purely on a political position…..not authentic science.

This global warming thing would be ridiculous if it wasn’t so costly and damaging to the poor of the world. The rich nations will be badly damaged too.
I am inclined to think that the global warming scam is more of a risk than ISIS, until the next terrorist attack happens.
In a big picture view of the planet, this is yet another diversion of aid from food to costly versions of renewable energy projects like offshore wind and rooftop solar. Add that to food for ethanol and diversion of USAID funds to energy instead of agri and you get the picture of famine and refugees from many nations not even close to Syria.
It’s hard to buy into the climate change thing given that most of the ISIS movement and rebel activity is along the Euphrates river, which, last time I checked, hasn’t dried out (the Iraqis would have noticed that). Besides, climate doesn’t conveniently segregate itself within political borders, so similar unrest should be hitting Israel and Turkey. But, for some reason, the problems almost immediately stop at the Syrian border, save for the migrant wave hitting Europe, which itself was caused by a political blunder by Merkel and not climate change.

But climate change probably did cause the war in Syria – If you are talking about the Bronze age collapse that was brought about by a sudden cooling in the climate around 3600 ago. Syria became a battle ground between the empires of the Hittites, Assyrians, Mitanni and Egyptians. (wikipedia)
Prince Charles is into organic farming, but the Syrian war is a political war, and climate has nothing to do with it. Accept 100,000s of refugees are moving into Europe. Some bent on killing Europeans as they sneak past the borders. Royalty including the Prince of Wales should never, ever give political opinions. I am sure that her majesty Queen Elizabeth will not be amused. He’ll get a rebuke I suspect from the British public. It’s a nonsensical comment anyway.

This recognition of “very good evidence” coming from someone who actually thinks global climate is changing because humans have done something to cause it? It sort of follows that Chuck has no real grasp on the meaning of words like “very good” and “evidence”.
At last some degree of sanity.
But I still have to question the sanity of our governmental systems. We have a vote in the UK this week about whether to bomb Syria. But our elected representatives still know nothing of the region or its history. We still have some MPs thinking this dispute and civil war was caused by Mossaad, Obarmy, an oil pipeline dispute, or perhaps climate change. But Hafez Assad, Basher Assad’s father, had exactly the same uprising in 1982, which was put down in exactly the same manner. Was this uprising caused by climate or oil pipelines?? Search for the Hama massacre, which killed an estimated 30,000 people.
How can our representatives make informed descisions when our propaganda agency (the BBC) will not even inform them and us of the history of the region, the history of the people, and the history of this conflict? The government may as well outsource this week’s important vote on Syria to a local kindergarten – you would end up with an equally considered and reasoned result.
