The Hiatus is alive despite the White House’s attempt to erase it. And apparently the rest of the world gets it that the UNFCCC’s Climate Change agenda is a shakedown scam, and Obama and his band of merry socialist elitists are the shakedown artists.

from: http://thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/258661-un-climate-pledges-wont-meet-key-goal
The Hill reports:
By Timothy Cama – 10/30/15 11:50 AM EDT
“The United Nations is warning world leaders that the pledges they have submitted to fight climate change will not amount to the goal they had previously agreed to.
In a Friday report, the U.N.’s framework convention on climate change said that the pledges from just over 150 countries will lead to global warming of 2.7 degrees Celsius by 2100 when compared with pre-industrial temperatures.”

These jokers are actually peddling the idea that paying a ransom er I mean a pledge of some X amount of dollars is going to allow us to control the climate. I have no idea why any country would pledge anything for such a silly idea. That they do is more a testament to the power of propaganda than to science.
I forecast using the latest econo-climate models that even if every country brought their GDP to a standstill, the global economy collapses, millions die, and global climate goes its merry way, ignoring the folly of men as it usually does.
OK. I’ll cut them a break. When they show me how they are going to warm the earth when the earth inevitably enters a cooling cycle, I’ll pledge free donuts for everyone at the IPCC for a week. Maybe we can get someone else to pledge coffee.

the data is publicly available and the data, that i have seen so far, has not be scrutinized by any third party and shown to be false. it is the emails that are in question and to what end is anyones guess and there are many here, that is plain to see.
i would like to request that all WUWT emails be posted for public access.

When will these guys realise that they cannot set the temperature in one room of their homes to an accuracy of 2.7 DegC? How do they expect to set the temperature of planet Earth to such accuracy? How can anyone detect the effects of a change in the composition of the Earth’s atmosphere by 0.01% over 70 years (the increase of CO2 since the end of WW2)?
Here’s an idea – when “climate scientists” can show us that they can model the effects of Natural Climate Change to any accuracy, then (and only then) they can point to the miniscule additional change due to the change of CO2.
Next they must show why the level of CO2 has increased – how much is due to increased use of coal and oil, etc – and how much is due to the disruption of the “carbon cycle” by e.g. burning and cutting down trees – surely if the “carbon sink” is reduced (by removing millions of square miles of rain forest), there will be an excess of CO2 in the atmosphere?
Has anyone seen any figures that show by how much the percentage of CO2 in the atmosphere will increase when a given volume of rain forest is destroyed?

And old men can be pathetic as military leaders, too. I happen to know a French general, and there is nothing to be proud about. But then many (most?) of our generals don’t have any commandment, so I guess it doesn’t matter.

Consider that deeply disturbing picture in the context of the Obama-Kerry Foreign Policy Doctrine. It’s a doctrine that posits a fictional “Climate Change” as the world’s greatest threat. And Tom Karl, Kevin Trenberth, and Gavin Schmidt, men who call themselves “scientists, support that doctrine with their mendacity.
History will judge these men harshly is my guess. But not in time to save that little child on that beach, but hopefully the next little child.

joelobryan, what does the child in your photo have to do with anything other than the fact that boats sometimes capsize in storms? They interviewed the father of this child and he admitted that he left a safe home in Turkey to migrate to Europe so he could get free dental care. The boat capsized and his wife and children drowned. The incident had nothing to do with war refugees or climate change. If anything, Europe’s open-door policy and generous benefits are to blame for encouraging people to take great risks to go there.

Louis,
His family had fled Syria due to the civil war and Assad’s army attacks.
This war has created a refugee crisis that is sending hundreds of thousands fleeeing for Europe, many taking life threatening routes.
Meanwhile Obama-Kerry FP doctrine posits Climate Change as the world’s biggest threat. Tell that to the Syrian refugees from both Assad and ISIS, Obama’s JV team. That picture, as horrible as it is, is quite relevant to the CC debate and the UNFCCC’s demand for money. That child did not need a solar panel.

Its because human depopulation IS the real agenda. Agenda 21 is the blueprint.
China fired a huge broadside fusilade at the UN agenda with it announcement yesterday of a Two Child policy.
China’s population in currently 1,360 million people. Current growth of population and energy consumption estimates are based on the now-discarded 1 Child Policy. Bejing isn’t obligated to set any CO2 emissions caps until 2030. Any reductions the west now sets is both futile and economic suicide. Russia’s Putin and China’s Xi are privately laughing their butts off at the West’s rush to de-carbonize and in the process commit mass suicide/infanticide/genocide of its peoples.

TD2, at a minimum the explicit decision not to show the uncertainty around their SST adjustment that erased the pause, explicitly per the method of Kennedy 2011. But they forgot that Kennedy did report it– 0.1C +/- 1.7C. In other words, Karl incorporates Huang, and Huang seems fine but is actually statistical garbage. And they both know it. So does Lamar Hunt’s committee, because I provided this forensic analysis previously to Climate Etc (Curry) and to his committee in a written submission.

Well here in Alberta Canada we have come to a sad state of affairs. It matters not that there is warming or cooling, pause or no pause. We now have a provincial socialist “New Democratic Party” (NDP) Gov’t (for you US readers imagine Bernie Saunders squared) dedicated to income distribution and climate change extremism.
The adoption of the fall budget calls for an increase in the business tax, an oil royalty review, an increase in the carbon taxes, talk of additional cap and trade, no support for additional pipelines of any ilk (I might add Alberta is a land locked territory with no access to tidewater. (China was to purchase Oil Sands crude up 500,000 barrels per day which would bring in at todays pricing 25 million dollars per day 24-7, all that was necessary was to get the oil to the Pacific coast!). All this in the face of 20,000 plus job losses, and cuts of over 12 billion in what were upcoming projects, with more announced every day. Recent quarterly reports for various oil companies now show losses of 100’s of millions, Yet, the new Gov’t continues to pile on kicking the industry when down with all the enthusiasm of a jackbooted skinhead gang.
No problem! A small gov’t budget deficit of 6.1 Billion is a small price for a population of 4 million to pay to save the world for the rest of you. Of course the accumulating effect of this will greatly exacerbated next year when reality fully bites.
On the federal front with the election of a Liberal party majority with Leader Justin Trudeau, (the political equivalent of the entertainment world’s Justin Bieber) who will be off to COP21 to do his Facebook Foreign Policy (FFB) looking for “likes” as he intends to promise all and sundry that Canada will now do much better at giving away the farm to the International Anti Carbon club.
Friends the future is here, read and weep. This is the first major push into the maelstrom following years of a relentless intense domestic and foreign environmental anti Carbon lobbying and protest activities focused upon Alberta, the environment movement’s lab rat. Having a tested and proven success against tiny Alberta, which is being squashed like a bug both from external and internal extremists who have the upper hand now, Alberta and Canada are now in the thrall of the anti industrial, anti anthropocentric, anti development, anti progress gang, they will be up scaling and coming soon to a theater near you.
I now am beginning to appreciate the meaning of the ideologists mantra.
“I am right and you are in the wrong. When you are stronger you ought to tolerate me; for it is your duty to tolerate truth. But when I am the stronger I shall persecute you; for it is my duty to persecute error.”
[The Modern British Essayists: Macaulay, T.B. Essays, pp: 806]

Sorry to hear about the political change in Alberta. I lived for 1 year there in support of the initial Syncrude oil sands plant during the startup. While I detested the bitter cold of winter, I have nothing but good feelings about Alberta and the prosperity I saw there with a business friendly government. We had many Canadian friends who made the winter bearable.
I guess the investment in the oil sands will slow down with a Liberal government in Alberta and Ottawa. Ft McMurray was booming when I lived there and many from other Provinces were working there and making big bucks.

Actually it is even worse than you stated. One economic group today (Friday, October 30, 2015) forecast up to 150,000 lost jobs due to the knock on effect of the loss of 40,000 to 50,000 primary industry jobs in the “patch” in Alberta. Some small oil companies are on the verge of bankruptcy, the news said Pengrowth Energy would soon be delisted from the stock market. Some people in the east thought this would not affect them but their manufacturing business and financial businesses were tied to providing goods to the oil patch – they just didn’t realize it. GDP in the last three months (June, July August) has been 0.4%; 0.3%; 0.4%. The economist I was listening to today said that given the disaster facing the oil companies, Canada’s GDP could go negative once the numbers are in for September.
Given the low growth other countries are seeing, I think maybe COP21 is looking at the wrong metrics.

deanfromohio, not at all. INequality is the natural state of human beings, it is built into our nature. So when a regime mandates equality, and 99% of the population are equalised, to maintain the natural amount of inequality, that 1% remaining is propelled to vast heights of power and wealth. One member of the 1% is propelled even higher, to become the “Great Leader” whose photo is compulsory in every home & workplace, with death to any who fail to bow to his image. In Saskatchewan, we say wait a minute.

If you have the address of the records, try plugging it into the main “search” section of TheWayBackMachine ( http://archive.org/web/web.php ). You might be surprised at how much of what was a record isn’t anymore.
(We’re so much better at reading what a thermometer really said back then than those actually saw it.)

With a lengthening surface temperature ‘pause’** and a lengthening lower troposphere temperature ‘pause’** the CO2 ECS reduces further; asymptotically approaching very insignificant sensitivity.
** ‘pause’ is silly terminology, the relevant terminology is to simply say no significant change.

“Karl et. al.” didn’t really stick against the wall for long. Neither did “Mann et. al.” (though it took longer to peel off).
But both have stuck with some. The “some” aren’t always the same people but as long as “the stuck” can continue to be used to advance “the cause”, there will be no serious objections to their conclusions from those who adhere to “the Cause justifies the means”.

Heh, I was just banned from Ars Technica for… politely quoting the NOAA.

And when were they rational?

When you work on any Government supplied computer the first thing you see is a message that says anything you do on the computer may be monitored. Your emails, documents, instant messaging, etc, none of it can be private.

Nonsense. The correct terminology is ‘end’.

Ancient Mariner,
‘End’ of what? ‘Pause’ of what? ‘Hiatus’ of what? These terms presume something, whereas ‘no significant change’ presumes nothing before.

John Whitman:
Ancient Mariner is correct because the mis-named ‘Pause’ is the “end” of the linear trend of global warming discernible with 95% confidence which existed in the latter decades of the twentieth century.
If you and other members of the alarmist fifth column dislike ascribing a name to that ‘end’ then use ‘plateau’ because ‘plateau’ is descriptive of the observed lack of a recent discernible trend and does not imply the future trend will be warming or cooling (‘Pause’ implies an interruption to the discernible warming that – as Ancient Mariner says – has ended).

The biggest problem the gang has is that they, as a group, walked too far out on the liars limb.
They long ago left being simply wrong and entered their deceit phase.
Once they began telling tall tales their safety line of integrity snapped and like so many other kinds of offenders they had to keep adding bigger layers of lies upon the previous ones.
The common drug addict or marital cheater does this to delay what they refuse to view as inevitable consequences.
They build a jagged mountain of lies shaped like an upside down pyramid that grows increasingly unstable.
There can only be one outcome. The whole thing eventually topples.
The Climate charlatans are not so much fearing being wrong as much as they are petrified over being busted, publicly tried, convicted and shamed for their felony crimes of wholesale, self serving mendacity.
The entirety of their sphere of existence is facing public condemnation for having done so.
No doubt more and more of the rats will seek to escape their ugly heap before it topples.
The rat stampede can’t come soon enough.
