No offense to Josh but I really don’t think Russia’s going to be robbed by this.

All I know is that it’s 5:00 somewhere. Or 0-beer.30
[If you follow that with a shot a half-hour later, will the combination beer a 30-0-30? .mod]

You’re right–it will be the American public that’s going to be robbed.

Perhaps the Russian public, but I agree – surely not Gazprom.

It should read Europe and U.S., although the robbery of the U.S. is a lot more lucrative these days online.

So, that’s why they support environmentalism. It’s payback for the pseudo-scientific drive to distort financial and energy markets.

It’s way worse than we ever thought. Back in Feb 2009 we were told we only had 100 days left to save the earth. Now, in Aug 2015, we only have 100 days left to save the planet.

SB 350 is nothing short of when Indiana tried to declare that pi would be evermore 22/7ths.

You mean pi is not 22/7? Close enough for government work . . .

Stephen Hawking recently changed his black holes ‘theory’.
However, the black holes of the carbon trading are still the same as before.

Stephen Hawking recently refined his black holes ‘theory’.
Remember, it’s Hawking Radiation that was the first thing anyone thought could be able to escape a Black Hole.
Now he’s just said that he guesses more could escape than even he thought.

On Monday, Aug. 24-29, 2015, Stephen Hawking in a public lecture entitled “Quantum Black Holes” in Stockholm, as far as I am informed he is introducing following modification:
Existence of an “apparent horizon” that would only temporarily keep light and information, but after a period of time allows its exit back into space.
This is considerably different to the original ‘Hawking radiation’ theory.
I have no link to the actual presentation.

If I read his refinement statement correctly, he’s actually saying that the “content” of the Hawking Radiation is subtly different than originally surmised – that the onset “information” inherent in the mass or light entering an event horizon is regurgitated later (thus obeying the Conservation of Info theory) but may be scrambled chaotically, so that it may be in an “existing but unknowable” state.

from the organizers:
“Although the conference proceedings are closed to media and the public, media are invited to a concluding two-hour discussion at the close of the conference from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29 at Albanova, Rm. FD5.” see Link
don’t see why, it is a real shame. Looks as if have to wait until Saturday to see any major details.

50 percent of CA cap and trade proceeds go into the state’s general fund, in other words it’s a tax.

Trading carbon for ashes. What’s the difference?

Alx
August 25, 2015 4:24 pm

It is not carbon trading it is a consumption tax and that is the beauty of CO2, it is an easy measurement to apply as a consumption tax.
There is no benefit to the planet, polar bears, men, women, children, or Algerian field mice from paying a fee for each molecule of CO2 created. I guess next they could create a family tax, the more kids the more CO2 being introduced into the world so of course the solution is a per child tax.

Carbon Trading is more accurately called “Global Consumption Tax”.

Will the heavy breathers (usually, seemingly, on phone) have to pay more tax, maybe that’ll put ’em off!!!

As far as a government is concerned the sole problem is that taxes have to be raised.

The vast majority of carbon credits generated by Russia and Ukraine did not represent cuts in emissions, according to a new study.
The authors say that offsets created under a UN scheme “significantly undermined” efforts to tackle climate change.
The credits may have increased emissions by 600 million tonnes.
In some projects, chemicals known to warm the climate were created and then destroyed to claim cash.

If its a UN scheme than it amounts to a transfer of funds from US taxpayers to Russia.
