According to FirstPost;
Fancy listening to the Beatles’ ‘Here Comes The Sun’ when you are grinding out yet another long, sweaty heatwave? “These assumptions we have about certain weather being good and certain weather being bad, like sun being good — that might change,” researcher Karen Aplin of the University of Oxford said at a European Geosciences Union meeting in Vienna.
Aplin and five other scientists combed through databases of more than 15,000 pop songs, finding statistical backing for the assumption that our moods are strongly swayed by the weather. These emotions, in turn, are expressed in the music artists compose and what the public likes to hear.
I guess its not difficult to find a better proxy than tree rings.
My question, if we apply this principle to films as well as songs, what can we infer from recent films which express fear of ice and snow, like The Day after Tomorrow, or even the children’s film Frozen? Might scientists in the future, consider popular culture to be a better proxy for global temperature, than massively “adjusted” and probably defective official temperature records?
I guess I will just become a fan of “Slightly Less Coldplay” then…

When I got married in the early 1970s, my wife insisted that this should be played as we walked out of the ceremony. Strangely, it seems that I have now become the herald for here comes the Sun in regards to the changes that are now occurring in our solar system. It is almost as if it was a premonition on her part. I have found what I believe is a link between the Sun and the oceans which is the main cause/driver of what causes warm and cold trends on our planet. I have linked the combination of the two to changes in ENSO, which is the Pacific Ocean phase switch between El Nino and La Nina. Over the course of the last 14 months, I have successfully forecast the movement from peak to valley on the main graph that describes the changes, known as the Multivariate ENSO Index MEI. This may turn out to be nothing more than a lucky guess. It will take a bit more time to see if I can continue making successful connections. So far though my method still has legs.The next several months are important in this regard. As it stands now though, I am the only person to have ever done this. Hence, “Here comes the Sun”…”.

Nat King Cole gets my vote. People did dress better! You know what? Way back then grammar schools were teaching the we were emerging from an ice age and that great cold winters with lots of ice were not all that distant in the past. Great droughts and Buffalo from horizon to horizon were still living memories. Many kids had grandparents and great grandparents who witnessed them. The greater San Jose area in California was rural mostly planted in fruit before the resources used by IBM and Standford University spilled out to become “the silicon valley” in support of NASA and the Defense Department contracts. The “bay area” became the brains and Los Angeles the brawn of the cold war and space race.
The resulting explosion in technology and innovation has made it possible for humanity to live not so precariously as we have had to in the past. So let’s remember how far we’ve come so fast and get that congressional buzzard to straighten up and fly right!

I hear it, and I analyze it as a bunch of squeaks, blats, bloots, blares, straangs, strums, strongs, schreaches and screams, blits, blats (and more strums) blares and other strange individual noises all coming out at the same time like a pile of dumped frequencies and resonances of louder and not-so-loud simultaneous noises.
Seems like they could save time and energy by just transmitting the entire concert in 10 seconds at the same time if everybody played everything as loud as they could at the start. Then they could stop, pack up the instruments, and go home.

This British Researcher thinks that Climate Change is affecting the quality of science papers – and not in a good way.
Global Warming Belief will affect your brain, by turning it to mush.
Our civilization is regressing. Accordingly, our ancestors would have easily solved this warming problem by sacrificing a virgin. The odds of success are questionable, but in today’s society could we even get started.

These guys really may be on to something here: No doubt, most of us prefer sunny days to cloudy ones, but no harm in spending a little (read: lots) of our cash to prove an obvious point, or is it a startling breakthrough?
Also noteworthy: Our moods are strongly swayed by music. Breathtaking stuff here, and the CAGW bandwagon rolls on, its crepe paper constantly changing colors to reflect the changing goalposts, and hey! That ain’t crepe paper, it’s our money.

Bottom line question: does our taste in music, or lack thereof, affect our belief, or skepticism, about CAGW?
Inquiring minds would like to know what affect Rap, Hip Hop, and other such noise parading as music has on young, impressionable minds.

Yes, and to pursue a perhaps trivial point, you may have noted that I used the word affect as both verb and noun in my comment.
While it is true that the general rule is to use effect as a noun, and affect as a verb, the latter also has good standing as a noun, whereas effects are objective, while affects are subjective:

I take this to mean that effects are measurable, where affects, being subjective, are not. This is the same divide that separates science from psychology.
My interest is a possible link between heavy, bass-laden music and aggressive or violent behavior, hence the psychological slant and the use of the noun affect, but perhaps one or more of the erudite wordsmiths who haunt this hallowed blog will weigh in on the matter.

The premise that weather affects our moods and possibly our taste in music has a ring of truth to it. For instance, while I was shovelling the snow off my driveway, every other day, all winter long, I kept humming, “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…”; long after Christmas came and went.
Probably true but in reverse.
There’s nothing on the planet happier than miserable english people ……because they know that’s the proper condition of humanity_ ______cold, fog-bound and suffering from flu.
If they are enjoying themselves they are unhappy because they know it won’t last.

What amuses me most about “research” like this is that the more they do this shtick to scare us into their way of thinking, the more the average person comes around to questioning their position. This constant bombardment of obviously stupid attempts, even to the lightly educated, to link everything to global warming has actually hurt their credibility so much that they are starting to look like caricatures instead of scientists. Not even good anime caricatures. The fact that they don’t seem to realize it only adds to their diminishing credibility.
I’ve had an earful of global warming…..
