Wow, this is just nuts. I mean really, really, “Trenberth’s missing heat is going to jump out of the ocean and get you” kind of nuts.
The website scaredscientists.com looks like this at right.
Like the wailing we saw in the hand written letters of feelings last week, this one is also from Australia. Personally, I think this is some sort of mental disorder on display coming to light because Australia has done an about-face on the carbon tax and have put a lot of climate change programs on the back burner or eliminated them altogether.
And of course, there’s an “ACT NOW” button, which is a code word to send money, but there is no mention of what that money will be used for. A list of “fears” follows with comments by me interspersed in blue.
They write in the About page:
A quick chat to the experts and it’s immediately apparent that climate change is not only real: it’s serious. Very serious.
But this isn’t what scares scientists. They’re afraid humanity will continue to bury its head in the sand; instead of facing its greatest challenge head on.
Scientists don’t want to be right, they want to be wrong. Research shows this is our last decade to slow climate change before it’s too late. The science community believe if people are willing, we can transform the current trajectory from one of fear to one of hope. But the science can only take us so far. If we want a safe and sustainable world, we need to take the facts seriously – and do what needs to be done to change them.

Here’s the big list of scared scientists:
WILL STEFFEN
Earth System Scientist
University of Florida, University of Missouri, Australian National University
FEAR: LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE CLIMATE SYSTEM
The climate is related to many parts of the Earth; the land, the ocean, the ice, the atmosphere. We’re noticing abrupt changes in all of these areas.
We’ll reach a point where we’ll lose control over the system. Right now, if we reduce our emissions, we can probably stabilise the system. If we push the climate too far, if we start losing ice too rapidly, start flipping things like the Amazon, then the internal dynamics of the climate will take over – and even if we pull emissions back, we won’t be able to stop very large changes – that’s my biggest fear.
The thing people don’t realise, is getting emissions down is not only feasible but economically promising and will actually lead to a better life. The narrative needs to change, it’s not all doom and gloom. Yes, it will be another massive transformation in human history, but it will lead to a cleaner environment, to more jobs, and an easier lifestyle.
We still have a chance to pull back climate change, but we need to act vigorously and we need to act soon.
(Funny, I never knew any scientist who said we were “in” control of the climate, much less lost control of it. The hubris on display here could fill a stadium.)
LESLEY HUGHES
Ecologist, Macquarie University, Sydney
FEAR: SPECIES EXTINCTION
My work on the potential impacts of climate change on species and ecosystems has made it clear that the human species is now threatened.
We need to acknowledge the time lag between what we do to the atmosphere and its impacts on the climate. What we do now, affects the climate decades into the future. This means we need to drastically cut our emissions, now and forever, to stabilise the climate in the second half of the century.
(Odd, she doesn’t seem frightened at all. Good luck stabilizing the climate though, because in the entire history of the planet, the climate has never been stable.)
TIM FLANNERY
Mammologist, Palaeontologist
University of New South Wales,
Monash University, La Trobe University
FEAR: DISRUPTION OF GLOBAL CIVILISATION
Climate Science underestimated the pace of climate change, it was too conservative. We’re now having far more rapid change than originally projected. Change that if not slowed, will undoubtedly affect my children and my grandchildren.
There is genuine potential for a change in climate to disrupt our global civilisation. If that happens, we know human nature has a dark side, people will fight over an ever diminishing resource pool, and that is a future we want to avoid.
This decade is critical, it is our last chance to prevent our children from that type of world. We have to make significant progress and get the global emissions trajectory turning downwards. That is the urgent task at hand.
(I think maybe Tim has been smoking the same thing that always-wrong doomster Paul Ehrlich has been smoking. “We’re now having far more rapid change than originally projected.” Hmmm. I suppose he must not know about ‘the pause’ and all the excuses being made for it.)
SARAH PERKINS
Extreme weather researcher
University of New South Wales
FEAR: INCREASE IN EXTREME WEATHER EVENTS
As the background climate warms due to human activity, this increases the frequency and intensity of hot temperature events. I am concerned about how the very broad and damaging impacts of heatwaves will affect human health, infrastructure, agriculture, and natural systems. By the time we realise we need to make changes and start to put these changes in place, it might not be enough to balance out the range of catastrophes we will be facing.
(This lady should read my 2014 paper with Michaels and Knappenberger to understand heat waves, plus my essay on how technology and reporting bias figure in to extreme weather fears. She should also spend some time reading why some of the much touted heat waves have nothing at all to do with “climate change”.)
MATTHEW ENGLAND
Oceanographer, Climate scientist,
University of NSW, Sydney
FEAR: CLIMATE INDUCED GLOBAL CONFLICT
Accelerated warming and expansion of water in the oceans, and increased melting rates of glaciers and ice caps are expected to increase sea levels by a metre or more over the next 100 years. This will pose a decisive threat to the existence of human settlements, infrastructures and industries across the world that are close to the shore lines. Those environmental degradations will aggravate global conflict as tens of millions of people migrate and their food supplies become threatened.
We need to understand that the cost of solving the problem is so much less than the cost of dealing with it down the track; that cost is going to be huge for future generations. Not dealing with it is selfish, short-sighted, narrow minded and obscene. It represents such a level of injustice as those that are going to be impacted are not playing a role in the decisions that are being made now.
(Hmmm, the only climate wars I’m aware of are those being fought in the mind of Michael Mann, who fits England’s description of “selfish, short-sighted, narrow minded and obscene” pretty well.)
SHAUNA MURRAY
Biological Scientist
University of Technology Sydney, University of Tokyo, University of New South Wales
FEAR: REACHING THE FOUR DEGREES OF WARMING
We’ve recorded all sorts of climate change shifts in multiple areas. However, the scientific process is consistent. Every single individual study that has been done, has gone through the same rigorous process, data collection, research analysis, and qualified peer review. At the moment, we’ve at least 10 000 different papers, completed over 20 years, each using different data sets, and they are all coming to the same climate change conclusions. We’ve a weight of evidence that the average person is simply not aware of – and this frightens me.
I’d like to think that we’re not going to reach the projected four degrees of warming this century; because I can’t even imagine what that would look like. 80 years is not that long, and unless we act soon, my seven year old daughter will probably have to live through that.
(Apparently she only reads the papers that scare the crap out of her. Or maybe Skeptical Science, who posted this graph:
Meanwhile, The BBC reports ‘the pause’ may go on for another 10 years or more.)
PETER MACREADIE
Marine Ecologist
University of Technology Sydney, Deakin University
FEAR: GLOBAL CATASTROPHE
IPCC predicts that the impacts of climate change will be catastrophic. This affects everybody. Nobody is safe. We’re going to lose low lying countries, there will be a loss of live stock, potential wide spread famine and species extinction.
One thing people need to remember, is that scientists are the biggest skeptics on Earth. We’re constantly trying to disprove each other. This is the one thing we agree on. The evidence is endless. We’re not making this up, this is really serious, we’re very concerned and there’s not enough being done about it. We really need to be pushing our governments. Let’s not look back and regret what we’ve done.
(“Nobody is safe“, and this guy has the temerity to suggest scientists like him are the “biggest skeptics on Earth”? Wow. )
PENELOPE AJANI
Biological Scientist
University of Macquarie, Sydney
FEAR: UNKNOWN REPERCUSSIONS OF CLIMATE CHANGE
The scientific community know sea levels will rise, people will be displaced and food resources will diminish. But I work on the small things, the ocean’s plankton, and we are already seeing climate shifts in these organisms. How those changes will affect the global ocean is something we really can’t answer – and that scares me. For example, the fact that we’re seeing tropical species all the way down the east coast of Australia, means massive changes are occurring. However, we currently can’t predict the exact impact of these shifts.
Another example is that climate change will create winners and losers, there’ll be some species that get wiped out and some that will become prolific. Will it be the toxic algal species that are going to survive?
There will come a time when we need to have answers, when these changes will greatly challenge humanity.
(Any biologist who thinks that life is a static enterprise really should go back to school. Like climate, life changes. It also evolves, and adapts.)
Each “scared scientist” vignette ends with:
If you think these facts are frightening, help us change them.
Take action here
I’ll point out that there isn’t a hard sciences person in this group, and not a one of them appears to have any basic meteorological training, much less any climate science training. In their case, ignorance is not bliss, but a ticket to being scared out of their wits.
You gotta love the black and white photography and the caricatures of dark doom the portraits exude. It looks more like “performance art” than science.
Note the website traffic rank:

Nearly 15 million. Wow, off the scale of lower than low.

Lower traffic rank numbers are better, for example Google is #1. This comparison says a lot:
Finally, about that money they ask for when you “act now”, I wonder if it ends up here? Gotta love the domain registrar they use, quite appropos.

Anyway, good luck with the gloom and doom Rachel, you’ll need it to get past the laughing, especially after your last flop, the Years of Living Dangerously, which tanked in ratings after burning through several million dollars in production costs.
Losing money=losing minds.
I think I am going to throw up.
Reading their “fears” reads like a history of the planet – and recent history at that!
I guess some people need to be scared like McKibben needs to be a victim.
This time the world really is going to end…..really…..just watch….you’ll all be sorry. How many times do we alarmists have to tell you skeptics, that we’re all about to die. Really, we’ve been telling you now for decades, and decades… just wait and see. For sure. It’s coming soon. We are all going to perish from the heat, then freeze from the cold, and after that happens, ferocious storms will wipe the last of us off the face of the earth. Just cause you wouldn’t listen to our wailing….and build wind turbines, and transfer your wealth to the Illuminati, and agree to our new world order. So there. Now you know……He he he!
They’re scared of losing their place on the gravy train.
Desperation. Fear is definitely a proven political technique. They’re afraid there funding money is going to dry up.
“Their” that is…
Astonishing. “Loss of control of the climate system” implies that they actually believe they have control of the climate.
I’ve been told that it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt. Maybe I’ll send them a few schillings. That way they’ll keep talking and remove all doubt.
When I think of being scared, I think of people not doing an action they want to do because of fear of retaliation or some other negative consequence. If I am scared of the dark, then I avoid dark places. If I am scared of losing funding, I don’t speak up against CAGW.
But, these people aren’t scientists, but manipulators. How often do you see pro-AGW’ers say “think of the children!” or “think of the cute animals!” or some other emotion. In my state, a small anti-fracking movement is going on and the protests are short on factions, long on emotion.
Being “scared” is a new tactic I’ve seen more than once recently by this people. But you know what I am afraid of real problems. I am afraid of a possible global cooling that will strain the already weak economies. I am afraid of mass-starvations if the planet cools too much. I am afraid of my rights being sacrificed in the name of Gaea. I am afraid of inferior medical care when electricity is sacrificed to Mother Earth. I am afraid that real environmental crises will go unresolved because it is not about climate change. I am not afraid about something that has happened every day since the earth came to be.
This obsession is unfortunate. I am not a psychologist. But, I understand a little human nature through several decades of observation. This mantra of the failure to accept the science is the last bastion of excuses before they come to the true realization. It is not climate science that we are failing to believe. It is much more personal. It is *their* science that we don’t believe. It is their poor judgement and their failure to execute credible science. There are many scientists which are credible and which are trustworthy. But those who choose to turn to emotional, over-reaching scare tactics are not credible.
I am reminded of an observation the other day. I was at my child’s school and watching an eleven year old simply ignore it’s parent. The parent was not demonstrating control or reason and was acting emotionally. The child was bright enough to simply look at the parent, turn and walk away. That is the appropriate response for these ‘scared scientists.’
Anything Tim Flannery puts his name to you know its going to be nothing more than a money making scam! One thing that surprises me however is there is no coverage about this in the Australian MSM.
There is now coverage of this on the front of news.com.au
So sad that many will take the bait….
Are there any depths to which the alarmists won’t sink to get their message across?
Nope.
We have control over the climate system? Umm, okay then …..
Surely this is just a new version of the infamous “Nigerian” scam?
I thought “nutty professors” was just a Disney thing…
OK try this version: Surely this is just a new version of the in_famous “African” letter sc_am.
You know….it would probably be cheaper, to pay for anxiety medication and therapy for the terror-ridden scientists, than to go along with their crazy schemes….LOL!
None of color, all obviously racist.
Funny, when you click on act now button it takes you to Flannery’s Climate Council website. He set this up, with privte donations, after he was sacked from his AU$180,000 3 days per week part-time job by the newly elected Abbott govn’t.
“LESLEY HUGHES

Not sure of the taxonomy but climate alarmists are at best a sub-species?
Ever seen “The Producers”? That was a story about a couple of crooks who found a way to make money out of failure – all they had to do was to produce a play which they were sure would flop, then they sold 2000% rights to the profits of the play to punters.
Just saying 🙂

Oh! It’s THIS decade that’s our last one for action. Gotcha. I was really confused. I thought it was the last “last” decade. Glad that’s streightened out.
Also, how does one “flip” the Amazon? Is it akin to Guam tipping over or is it more a really bad lead-in to a sexist joke?
The climate hypochondriacs fear they are losing their green sex appeals and at the same time their stream of public funding. That’s understandable.
It is obviously nuttier than we ever imagined, and it is still getting worse. It won’t be long before we see the absolute nuttiest, and I am not sure what comes after that.
Okay, okay. I admit that Australia produces some real shockers…but I would argue that only 3% of climate buffoons are from here (survey results later). And were they born here? Lot of people think Mel and Russell are Aussies – but theyr’e not! Same with climate buffoons.
Also, just remember that, regardless of where he was born, Mawson got here at age two. And Mawson is totally an Aussie. Totally.
I’m an Aussie 🙁 – we’re not all like this!
Tim Flannery
Really ?
I remember attending a lecture in 1990 by David Suzuki where he announced that time to be the “turn around decade”…..this fable is getting rehashed for a younger crowd.
Didn’t work then, won’t work this time.
They’re scared alright. Scared the majority of the public finally sees them for the charetans they are.
It really gets entertaining now, their wild gyrations as they lose in the public mind and lose in funding, they are backpedalling and giving out shrill cries.
What total rubbish! So the millions of different species who have survived warmer periods like the Medieval Warm and the various deep Ice Ages are all going to disappear if a mythical 1+ degree of Global Warming does appear. No way! That’s just wishful thinking for the Greens trying to get money.
As mentioned in the earlier thread, I’m looking forward to Tony B. reporting back on “engaging” Sarah Perkins.

I’m still hoping she can write something for WUWT, but, can she handle being brought out of her bubble and into reality?
I’m afraid these wankers’ ideas are going to destroy any remaining national and global wealth Obama doesn’t destroy and make my essential retirement investments worthless.

No Jimmy, I think they correctly see Aussie’s shutting down their funding gravey train, and that is what scares them.
What these scientists are in effect doing is using their non-expert opinions on Climate Science to advocate for a belief in CAGW fear mongering, and thus replace science rigor with a belief system in an area beyond their training. IMO, They are rentseekers.
The grammar on their About page is so bad it’s hilarious.
No shortage of professional “Merchants of Belief” raising alarm. Copywriter Rachel Guest and French Art Director, Celine Faledam work for McCann Australia where:

Evidently, economic “science” is not his forte. More jobs is not compatible with an easier lifestyle, nor with energy efficiency.
Improvements in energy utilization efficiency, eliminates jobs, it does not make sense to be paying more people to work, if you have efficient energy systems.
Now it started off with more jobs, and free clean green renewable energy. Every one of us had a day long job, up a fig tree, gathering free clean green renewable energy. But there weren’t that many of us back then. And no it was not an easier lifestyle. If you didn’t get figs, or berries, you starved to death.
Stored chemical energy release, has eliminated jobs, and made life easier, for more people.
Disruptive new technologies do create new jobs, but they eliminate lots of old energy inefficient jobs, that were high in manual labor content. They are profitable enterprises, because they eliminate inefficient jobs, while providing needed goods and services.
Bill Gates maybe has eliminated more jobs, than anyone in history.
If Steffen believes he has cleaner, more efficient greener energy sources, he should volunteer to run his whole life, along with his family of course, using such sources, and unsubsidized by ANY non green energy source. Live off solar energy Will; your ancestors did; up a fig tree !
We “have to act in 10 years” because by then we will have more evidence of how much the climate models overestimate future warming.
Research shows this is our last decade to slow climate change before it’s too late…
….it worked already…..and a lot better than healing the planet
Jeepers, don’t these “scientists” know that sea level rise (for just one of their fears) hasn’t accelerated and that it is projected to be about 6 or 7 inches over the next 100 years, just like the last 100 years. I guess they never read Nils-Axel Morner, a Swedish sea level expert, probably the top sea level expert when it comes to recording actual DATA – based on satellite data over the last 40 years and observational records over the last 300 years.
“Scientists don’t want to be right, they want to be wrong. Research shows this is our last decade to slow climate change before it’s too late. ”
.
JIMBO??!!……pitch in please on that one….
Ten years ago, or even five, this angst wouldn’t have seemed so overdone.
It’s obvious these people haven’t looked at contrarian books or documents, like the NIPCC report. Maybe those are what they should be sent, not money.
“At the moment, we’ve at least 10 000 different papers, completed over 20 years, each using different data sets, and they are all coming to the same climate change conclusions.”
Shauna has it spot on. Too bad she isn’t rational.
“FEAR: LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE CLIMATE SYSTEM”
You mean to tell me we’ve been in control of the planet’s climate all this time? Really? Wow, I never knew. As Spock would say, fascinating.
“The thing people don’t realise, is getting emissions down is not only feasible but economically promising and will actually lead to a better life. The narrative needs to change, it’s not all doom and gloom. Yes, it will be another massive transformation in human history, but it will lead to a cleaner environment, to more jobs, and an easier lifestyle.”
Absolutely, let’s cut waaaaay back on the lifeblood of the world’s economies (fossil fuels) despite the fraudulence of CAGW and switch to unreliable, low density and intermittent wind and solar for more jobs and an easier lifestyle. Terrific idea.
I’m beginning to think these people need professional help. I really do.
Could they have misspelt their website’s name by reversing letters 2 and 3?
SACREDSCIENTISTS.COM seems more in keeping with their collective belief, dare I say climate religion.
Cheer up you black & white scientists. In two months Halloween will be here and then you can enjoy a good scare like the rest of us. For some reason climate change in October brings out the ghouls, bats, spiders, vampires, skeletons, and all the other demons. The photos of you guys are pretty good but might I recommend a couple fangs and black capes to enhance the effect.
“””””……FEAR: CLIMATE INDUCED GLOBAL CONFLICT…..”””””
This duffer must be talking about the fact that a long time ago, somebody fell down a well, and his descendants believe that if they destroy the world, he will be able to climb back out of the well, and make life good for them. Perhaps the well hasn’t run dry yet; but I don’t see a real climate link to this on-going global conflict.
Holy s&$ ?t these people are funny.
“Climate Science underestimated the pace of climate change, it was too conservative. We’re now having far more rapid change than originally projected. Change that if not slowed, will undoubtedly affect my children and my grandchildren.”
And what exactly are those changes?
And even better Skeptical Sciences Halloween graph. Almost made me run for the exit…..
“We’ll reach a point where we’ll lose control over the system.”
Good Grief, this supposedly educated individual actually believes that HE HAS CONTROL OF THE CLIMATE. It’s really hard to comprehend where exactly these folks are coming from….
Jeeze, some years are warmer/dryer than others and some are a bit chilly (like this year). Climate scientists ARE NOT IN CONTROL OF THE CLIMATE…….
Cheers, Kevin.

Be afraid…be very afraid.
Who cares what the 97% says, if this is what’s behind those positions?
It is really encouraging that these scientists are all Australian. As someone already mentioned above, this indicates tightening funding – as a taxpayer, I am furiously nodding in agreement.
Did they seriously say “change the FACTS?”
If a lot of people donated the actual value of the fears – about $0.02, I wonder what that would do to the shakedown website?
SHAUNA MURRAY
. . . At the moment, we’ve at least 10 000 different papers, completed over 20 years, each using different data sets, and they are all coming to the same climate change conclusions.
So that’s 10 000 data sets, all different.
😉
If they want FEAR maybe they should front up at Syria and face ISIS/ISIL/IS?? extremists.
Looks like a “Jim Jones” cult from the ’70’s.
“Research shows this is our last decade to slow climate change before it’s too late.”
Wrong!
Though mostly from Oz (i.e. Australia) I wonder if Obama and his EPA and NOAA and NSF, kiss kiss, are bank rolling and encouraging this sh*t.
Sorry.
Scared of losing their government grants and funding.
Very funny, I have not laughed so hard for quite awhile – this is going to be hard to top.
The Australian Govt will be serious when they sack a great swathe of the Bureau of Meteorology for fabricating temperature records.
The Abbott govn’t killed off the Climate Commission (Flannery), several other departments in relation to “cllimate science”, some positions at the CSIRO so I would like to see some postions go at the BoM for fabricating data and National Parks too for banning animals from the land which used to help reduce fuel loads. We have had lots of rain here in Sydney and more to come. This fire season could be quite busy with all that extra growth.
“Years of Living Dangerously”, produced by Associate Archival Producer, Rachel Guest (& dozens, hundreds? of others) and guided by the expert team of Joe Romm, Heidi Cullen, James Hansen, Katharine Hayhoe, Michael Oppenheimer and Michael Mann, has shifted shape and is now hiding in the deep ocean of Scientific Educational Media from which it will diffuse quietly take over the minds of the young and vulnerable.
“We have teamed up with the National Wildlife Federation to provide age and developmentally appropriate curriculum, resources, online learning, contests and events to enhance and extend the experience beyond the screen for middle and high school teachers and students, college faculty and students, and parents.” http://yearsoflivingdangerously.com/educators/
Be afraid, be very afraid.
I like Will Steffen’s comments. How nut case does one have to be to think we have control of the climate? Is this guy serious? We’ll lose control of the climate. How can you lose something you never had? These “scientists”don’t need money they need serious professional help.
If I was one of them, I’d be scared too.
Everyone should consider adopting a pouting, soon to be unemployed climate alarmist.
Understanding the new rules, is this off topic, or related?
[off-topic -mod]
Success!
Exterpolation: a method of generating extra data points from a set of existing data points, throwing them all away and replacing them with data points pulled from up the wazoo. This might explain why they are warm.
Freudian slip in their About Us section?
“If we want a safe and sustainable world, we need to take the facts seriously – and do what needs to be done to change them.”
Isn’t that what too many in the CAGW camp do, change the facts to get what they want.
The website scaredscientists.com writes in its About page:
“Scientists don’t want to be right [about their claims of imminent danger from their unsubstantiated hypothesis of CAGW], they want to be wrong.”
The wants of the eight Australian scientists about what is real in the Earth Atmosphere System are irrelevant if they are objectively focused scientific professionals.
Also, why is John Cook absent from the list of scared scientists on the scaredscientists.com site? Is he now perceived by his activist associates to be too controversial / distrustful to be used on this PR campaign that is trying to emotionally renew public trust in activist scientists who are still biased toward the CAGW hypothesis?
John
Disappointed to see that Flannery is still sucking on the public teat – can’t Tony Abbot fix him for good?
Mind, I suppose sucking on a teat is the main activity of a Mammologist!
“Losing control of the system”….do they really expect us to believe that we have some sort of control of the climate? The hubris is there for all to see, the highest level imaginable. BTW “the planet is fine the people are #$%^&!”
Amid the laughter, Leslie Hughes points to the nub of the problem.
If you take as a basic principle that the climate does not change and is stable, then ANY variance is to be viewed with alarm. She is scared because the climate is changing and she views this to be unnatural. Her fears will only be dispelled when she (and those who think like her) finally accepts the basic truth that the climate always changes and that change, in and of itself is not a cause for rational fear.
Shauna Murray is probably another with the same beliefs. Climate is “naturally” stable. 10,000 papers say the climate is changing. Therefore something “unnatural” is happening. The fear derives from their basic assumptions and that is what has to be addressed.
These people should see a psychiatrist. The symptoms are linked to delusion and paranoia. I recommend Jack Nicholson’s anger management therapy.
“They’re afraid humanity will continue to bury its head in the sand; instead of facing its greatest challenge head on.” What? The world “met” the challenge head-on and it’s cost trillions of dollars so far, despoiled our countryside the world over and is chopping and frying birds, bats, insects. And they want more and more. And more! Until we’re ground into the dust and civilization is gone.
We’ve woken up to them, that’s all. Their lies aren’t working, so they’re trying for pity. It seems they still think they have the public onside. I guess they’re in for a shock, then.
Most times I’m proud to be Australian, other times, not so much. Flannery tried going private after his department got shut down. I guess he and his mates ran out of money. Of course they’re worried! But boy, it’s embarrassing to see this sort of show!
And Gawd, am I still in moderation? I thought the WP-site-causing-moderation was fixed! It was 40 minutes+ for me last time, the wait is getting longer.
I just LOVE Rachel’s list of Science advisors, advisers, whatever:

No wonder she is off the deep end.
They should have the fear of being humiliated, fear of losing their credibility, fear of career loss
and a fear of being forever stigmatized as having participated in mankind’s biggest farce in history.
Here they show only their sheep’s clothing as their human hateful influence on the media still leads to rationalists being slandered as being deniers of the boring old textbook greenhouse effect, the one they poker face invoke to falsely support their positive verging on runaway feedback scenarios that form the basis for all alarm in opposition to celebration of a warmer world.
These world saviors are only too aware that climate sensitivity is a motivated guess but they lyingly sell that profitable and famous guess as being proven by basic physics, and are only too happy to leverage this knowing lie into stereotype worthy slander against computer model skeptics.
These are adults with both scientific training and access to the full range of alarm skeptical knowledge, so their ignorance of the highly speculative nature of alarm is entirely feigned. We are dealing with sociopaths, not climate hypochondriacs, unless you want to believe science degrees don’t inform people how to dissect rational arguments, which I assure you, yes, outside is the social sciences, yes, such degrees do teach exactly that. These are mad scientists, with a clearly identifiable Marxist subversive agenda, addressed to laypeople, not seasoned critics.

I’d be happy to donate some olde Monopoly money.
the poor darlings…..lying in bed at night, worried sick, not being able to sleep. Maybe I could send each one of them a cuddly Teddy bear to hug…
“You mean to tell me we’ve been in control of the planet’s climate all this time?”
Projection of the inverse. He is pathologically anxious that he is not in control of the climate, to the extent that he cannot even acknowledge his lack of control, so it is turned around as an expression of fearing the loss of control. A paranoid delusion of granduer.
Since the very earliest ruminations by warmists, they have expressed fear of some future climate cataclysm owing to actions of mankind (never owing to natural ones). Perhaps it’s their obsessive and bizarre behavior which warrants closer study.
Does a mammologist study mammaries?
Relax folks. Its just the Climate Council. They have a media habit they just can’t shake and need to score. Now they are off the government funded program they are begging in the streets.
PETER MACREADIE says: “IPCC predicts that the impacts of climate change will be catastrophic.” Last time I used the word catastrophic in debating with a warmist – I was told that the IPCC has never predicted a catastrophy (“not a very scientific term”, and “Catastrophic” is ONLY a term used by skeptics trying to incorrectly state what the IPCC is saying.” ) Stunned I reviewed many of the IPCC reports, and found he was correct-IPCC have apparently avoided using that word in their reports. So, now I feel vindicated- a REAL Scientist (Not just national geographic and Al Gore) claiming the IPCC says so. LOL …
PS- so far, I’m liking the new format- hope it’s easier for you to manage!

In this particular case he studies living off the public mammary.
Someone get Sarah McLachan on the phone now! We need her to sing behind a slowly repeating slideshow of these devastated faces in these black and white images! “In the arms of the warming…..far away…and near….from this cold, dusty eco lab….where we alllllll live in fear. You will drown in the oceans….or be burned into ash…..if you don’t heed our message….and send us….all your cash…”
Won’t you please help us save these sad scientists?
They’re obviously scared sh*tless that their free ride is about to come to an end. Good Fk’in riddance worthless societal leaches, try getting an honest job for once – you know, one that doesn’t involve theft.
Tim Flannery (top right hand corner) looks like he is about to cry. Maybe he keeps thinking about the AUD 180,000 (~ USD 168,000) that he used to get for a three day week when he suckled on the public teat.
Why are they scared on NO global warming for 17 years?
Shauna is right. We must act now! It’s all for the grandchildren.
The reason why they are scared is simple to understand. A loss of funding. They know that the global surface temperature standstill and an subsequent cooling will end their funding.
such low ratings. Maybe they should hook up with the union of concerned scientists and sceptical science and real climate.
they could become the real concerned, scared yet sceptical scientists
I’m scared too! Please send me money to be less scared.
The scary thing is they believe all their lies. They have the same genetic strain as those who previously believed in dragons, witches, papal indulgences and phlogiston………
Sad, sad set of so called “scientists”.
In a 2007 interview Tim Flannery said “So even the rain that falls isn’t actually going to fill our dams and our river systems, and that’s a real worry….”.
After epic floods and overflowing dams Tim Flannery said that “climate change cannot be ruled out” as a factor.
The only thing I’m scared about is climate projection failure.

This is a serious request…Please compile all your good work into a readable format that could be published. Possibly with a preamble for each chapter..1.”predictions”…2.”Outcomes”…whatever works…..setting the scene so to speak.
Speaking personally I would certainly lash out a couple of dozen dollars on such.

I follow many studies, conclusions, recommendations, statements, forecasts, measurements and much more related to the causes of climate change. It seems that the whole world scientific community rejects the long-term effects of natural law and everyone wants him to be the one to its a program, formed on the PC, find a solution, because he thinks that his PC, smarter than him, and from the makers of these laws. The full error, so we were totally stuck in ignorance and knowledge of nature. I still have not managed to figure out the causes of the ignorance of the majority of scholars, those deals that they do not want to hear and understand, and that are much closer to being solved than their. For me it is easier to determine the true causes of climate change, but the behavior of today’s scientific community. So far I have offered his solution to many places, but when we say “the dog barks, the caravan still passes.” All of these previous actions around seeking the causes of climate change are only partial observations and localized events, without going into the global knowledge of the fundamental laws of nature. I offer a solution with a contractual obligation and is highly unlikely that such a solution offered free of charge. Such a right solution civilization would pay a few trillion dollars, although to date on the study spent far more, but without any results. Shall not any of you try to at least agree on how to solve it. Every second, humanity is losing than it receives from such results have not yet been resolved whether the law. The general view of science, it is not something wrong, this behavior should be immediately changed, until it is too late. By this I do not offer a solution, but I check again, is there really anyone who wants to solve this enigma. If there is allow yourself to hear the opinion of someone who has never heard of science, and perhaps will hear.
I would be interested if others have a similar view?
Compare this.

On my setup, I can’t see how to do that. (I am running an old version of Safari on old OS 10.4, so this may be the problem.)

Try sifting through a list of ‘sceptics’, or even contributors on this site – much the same. So now we need letters after our names to have an opinion?
As Frank Herbert wrote, “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.”
Their minds are definitely deadened.
So do they count as scientists at all?

The first degree level qualification Flannery scored was English lit. He also made some money out of a geothermal project that went nowehere. Gaurnout, the ALP/Greens climate adviser, the architect of the “price on carbon”, is an economist and, like Gore, made millions out of mining gold and copper in PNG. Credit where credit is due, he did manage some pollution issues at the Ok Tedi mine(s).
Shouting ‘Fire!’ in a theatre is illegal, but potentially impacts only a tiny number.
‘Climate alarmism’ is impacting almost everyone on Earth and costing hundreds of billions. When do we bestow similar status onto these lying, scaremongering imposters – and start holding them to account?
The scientific community frowns upon your shenanigans.
‘This decade is critical, it is our last chance’
But 10 years of flat temperatures and we can claim success.
I think that this posting will have helped their traffic to spike right up, be interesting to see what the traffic stats for the site say in a week or so, that would be a testament to the power of this site, not anything about their sad pathetic message.
Will the Australian chapter of the Union of Concerned Scientists become the Union of Scared Scientists based on the PR found on the scaredscientists.com site?
John
I wonder if Tim Flannery remembers his forecast of perpetual drought for south-east Queensland ?
The Queensland government rushed to build a desalination plant which actually proved useful.
In January 2013 It provided drinking water to the Qld water system when supplies were in danger of running out due to flood damage.
And a bit of trivia.
The photo portraits of the scared scientists were designed to make them look really scared, terrified even. Words fail…….

Now the Recent Posts list has appeared in my sidebar–Phew!
I can’t believe Will Steffen has this “FEAR: LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE CLIMATE SYSTEM.”
Does the guy actually think he controls it now? News to me.
Im scared too.
that some idiots are going to give them funds and help keep this bunch of wackers in the DISinfo biz..:-(
“A quick chat to the experts and it’s immediately apparent that climate change is not only real: it’s serious. Very serious.”, no I mean it this time, it IS serious: it’s really, really, really very, serious…stop laughing…I MEAN it!!!! Really, really…/sarc ( not that I think I really needed it)
“Scientists don’t want to be right, they want to be wrong.”
— Well that’s a lofty goal ain’t it.
Research shows this is our last decade to slow climate change before it’s too late.
— Ehh? Weren’t you the ones that said it was already too late? You know, like once you ate that one spicy burrito to many, theres nothing left to do except wait for the s—storm.
The science community believe if people are willing, we can transform the current trajectory from one of fear to one of hope.
— Hope is always good, gets you out of bed in the morning, gets donations and politicians elected too.
But the science can only take us so far. If we want a safe and sustainable world, we need to take the facts seriously – and do what needs to be done to change them.”
— Would youse end war and disease as well? Making it a safe world I would think includes this, don’t you think? But yeah, let’s do what’s needed to be done — now what was that again dear? I must have missed it. All I heard was send me your Euros.
BTW those portrait photos are great. Getting portrait assignments with the request, “make them look scared, sad, and lost in a miserable world, but classy good looking”, is not easy to pull off. No sarc, credit to the photographer for outstanding work.
Two things:
1) a record of this crazy scaredscientists site MUST be archived. It can then be wheeled out in years to come when the scam has finished so that we can embarrass these loons (and the advisers such as Romm, Hansen, Mann etc). More importantly, the archived site can be used to rightly lay the blame for the massive waste of global funds at their door. They will have a lot to answer for.
2) Jones is right. Please Jimbo, could you produce a PDF of all your excellent material that shows up these idiots’ busted predictions throughout the years? I would happily pay for such a publication to recognise all your excellent hard work. Every posted comment of yours is a nugget of pure gold.
I can understand them. I’ve been where they are, terrified that no one believes them and certain doom lurks ahead in the dark… then I turned 6.
Will Steffen says “We’ll reach a point where we’ll lose control over the system.”
It’s scary that there are “scientists” out there like Steffen who really believe man can control the earth’s climate.
“OK Tim, put on your best sad face now. That’s it. Bit more of a frown on the forehead. Think sad thoughts. That’s it. Perfect. Hold that.”
Flannery’s prose is pure drivel. How’s this sentence for example: “This decade is critical, it is our last chance to prevent our children from that type of world.”
He writes like a primary school child who hasn’t learned the basics of expression or grammar.
There is only one possible appropriate comment about the heap of steaming that is “Scared Scientists”.

More proof that only upper middle class Whites are truly anal organisms.
Not usual , those who been enjoying the high life thanks to scams often worry about the scam being found out and so the end of of their high life . The smart ones move on to the next scam but the hangers on spend the rest of lives moaning about the ‘good old days ‘ Add in a ‘we are saving the planet ‘ self righteous mind set , and you can how this toxic mix would make them worried .
The sad part is that due to failure of the gatekeepers its unlikely that just the scam artists will suffer , lots of other environmental issues and science is likely to find public perception and funding going strongly down hill, at a cost to us all.
Just some general advice , if you don’t want to be treated like a self-serving , dishonest BS artist , it is a good idea not to act like one in the first place. That the careers of ‘the Team’ and some of it hangers on will crash and burn if ‘the cause ‘ falls is something to only celebrate .
They reveal their propensity to believing in myths when they use the ole head in sand expression. Ostriches don’t really bury their heads in the sand.

(pun intended)
Among the many porkies they tell is this multi-layered beaut: “Scientists don’t want to be right, they want to be wrong.”
First of all, the moment a scientist becomes focused on “being right” as opposed to simply doing good science is the moment he stops being a true scientist. Secondly, when they say “scientists” what they are talking about is the so-called consensus. But, not only is the “consensus” itself a lie, but science by consensus isn’t science at all. Finally, they, meaning the CAGW faux science ideologues don’t really care whether they are right or wrong, just that they appear to. That is their ultimate, most shamefaced lie of all. They do however, care about keeping their gravy rolling along for as long as possible, to the detriment of all of humanity.
Well, let’s see.
I figure there are somewhere between 500 and 600 coal fired power plants in the U.S. right now, generating an average of about 500MW each. Something like that. Ballpark of 100-500 million per replacement plant capital costs, we are looking at hundreds of billions just to get started, in up front construction costs. Energy storage systems? Smart grids? What about our cars?
I just hate it when people B.S. me. Admit it’s going to cost several large fortunes and damage us economically, and then at least I’ll have reason to suspect you’re speaking straight for goodness sakes!
If we want a safe and sustainable world, we need to take the facts seriously – and do what needs to be done to change them. This is an interesting sentence. The object of the sentence is “facts,” then “do…change them.” What “facts” do they propose to “change,” and how do they propose to “change” them? If there were one sentence that encapsulated the entire “climate change” forces, and they are a force, this would be that sentence.
I’m not going to get all worked up, but to finish:
And for what? Humans can adapt to every set of environmental conditions on earth for pete’s sakes! You find us in Death Valley. You find us at the South Pole. You sometimes find us in machines deep beneath the surface of the ocean. Every once in a while you find some in space. Alive and well.
But no! A few paltry degrees change in our average temperatures is absolutely going to devastate us. No question. The scientists have spoken.
PuhLeeze!
@ tm willemse’
I believe that is what’s known as a “fraudian slip” on their part.
A narrative of fear is very effective with “sheepal”.
If these scientists are confident that they are correct in their attempts to scare the gullible, then why do they not use this site to enlighten we sceptics with the ‘overwhelming empirical evidence’ that supports their argument, we can then argue the points from a genuine scientific viewpoint? So come on Messrs. Stephan, Hughes, Flannery, Perkins, England, Murray, Macreadie and Ajani, On behalf of all sceptics who find WUWT to be a genuine debating platform for the subject of the climate, I invite you to answer your critics in these columns and offer us the opportunity to analyse your evidence for the terrifying scenario for the future of civilisation that you proffer. You must surely have masses of evidence for you all to put forward collectively such a frightening scenario which you say will lead to the extinction of mankind and the beautiful world in which humanity and all other forms of life have lived successfully for millions of years. The platform is yours!
“Scientists don’t want to be right, they want to be wrong. I have great news, they are.
Global warming aka climate change is about “scientists” publishing scare papers to get more govt. grants so they can “study this problem further.” It’s about money, power, and politics.
The psychopathology of climate alarmists realizing that their gravy train has derailed is truly awe-inspiring (just send money!!!). Perhaps Lewandowsky could do a study; he wouldn’t even need to make stuff up.
If you donate, do you get a bottle of snake oil and a copy of Algore’s latest book….
Does their publically stated life background (openly stated by themselves on the internet and elsewhere) resemble the following kind of pattern?
As teenagers some people often feel lost and scared in a world they feel is indifferent and they feel isolated from it. Then becoming undergraduate students those people can see a fashionable ideological cause that gives them a sense of belonging and purpose so they often choose a profession that aids the fashionable ideological cause. They then feel safety in having fellow cause members which alleviates their isolation and scared feelings. Then later in life if the fashionable ideological cause disintegrates then those people can revert back to feeling a profoundly based isolation of their teenage scared metal state.
Or, instead of that pattern just described, is there a more rationally pre-meditated and calculated pattern.

All Aussies. Aren’t these guys the ones that are in the direct path of the investigation over the fudged temperature (adjusted) numbers? You bet they are scared. This is probably their new retirement plan. Especially Flannery.
AGU must be burning through the membership and publications revenues to bank roll Hansen and Mann and their vacation homes (i.e. “legal fees”) that AGU has to go to Oz for help.
Ha ha AGU, pbhssst
Over the past 20 years these people have abused the childhoods of countless children, ironically doing it “for the children,” until some children are so freaked out they don’t want to go into the woods, because they are so sure they will “harm nature” if they even walk between the trees. Rather than loving nature, because they played in her arms as they grew, they have a completely estranged relationship with nature.
If these people really want to raise money they should “do it for the children” they have abused. Then they should go to jail. Go directly to jail. Do not pass “Go.” Do not collect $200.00.
It’s not about losing the grant money! That’s just gravy. That’s just confirmation. It’s about not having a consensus to bolster their “raw amygdala”. As nice as charts and graphs are, it doesn’t touch these people, they are ineffective. Logic does not work on them, they have to have confirmation of their beliefs and feelings in order to avoid total breakdown (depending on how out of touch each one is). An excellent blog series on this is:
http://www.anonymousconservative.com/blog/touching-the-raw-amygdala-part-i-foundational-understandings/
If these scientists have had control of the climate – as they are apparently claiming – then maybe we should bring a class action law suit against them for the tornado damage and flood damage and other weather induced damage done over the past several years. After all, if they control weather system they should have arranged to squash this kind of damage over populated areas.
Some people call themself experts and have managed to make media as well as politians believe it to…… Had been better had they started from scratch learning about Theories of Science – basic knowledge but that would of course take too much of their time to read, learn and understand 🙂
I’m reminded of Steve McIntyre’s quote of a year ago, in part:
“….In my opinion, most climate scientists on the Team would have been high school teachers in an earlier generation – if they were lucky. Many/most of them have degrees from minor universities. It’s much easier to picture people like Briffa or Jones as high school teachers than as Oxford dons of a generation ago. Or as minor officials in a municipal government……”

I would never send a kid of mine to one of the dozens of “progressive” unis in Australia. The retracted papers, the Ship of Fools, the ‘centre of excellence in climate science’ (imagine the hubris of these low talents) …. and now this disgrace. It’s tough enough to choose a school of higher learning anywhere but Australia is definitely not on my list.
Oh and the black and white? Note that there are equal numbers of men and women in the group. How sensitive of them.
Their fear comes from their growing understanding that they can’t control nature and they cAnt control the debate here in Oz …..they are control freaks with no control …..fear turning into pathology is happening (unfortunately) …some Australians are good at hitching a ride on a trend and taking it to it’s absurd limits
Lesley Hughes is studying the “potential” impacts of climate change while Flannery claims We’re now having “far more rapid change” than originally projected.
So is “climate change” potentially impacting us or actually impacting us. These people don’t even appear to have their story straight.
The Universities paying these fools need to be embarrassed by these unscientific rants. They are destroying what little credibility these institutions have left.
When I saw this, my reaction was much like Anthony’s – answer it point by point. And I really did go out of my way to be kind to these “scared scientists.” But, I fear, my responses are rather less printable than our genial host’s.
FEAR: LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE CLIMATE SYSTEM
Totally agree; we need to take control of the climate system, just as I do when I’m driving my car. When it’s hot, I turn on the air-con. When it’s cold, I turn on the heater. When I’m feeling blue, I set the heated seat to max. Heh heh.
FEAR: SPECIES EXTINCTION
Totally agree, again. “Global warming” policies are extinguishing many of our species – like old people in the UK who can’t afford to heat their homes. Getting rid of those policies will make life better for our species, not worse.
Oh wait… now I understand what species you’re talking about. And it isn’t us.
FEAR: DISRUPTION OF GLOBAL CIVILISATION
Look, you’re right here as well. Global civilization (why can’t Aussies spell?) needs fast, convenient transport of people and goods. Planes R Us!
And given the size of your beautiful country, you Aussies should be their biggest supporters. Hell, I used to do projects for Qantas and Jetabout more than 25 years ago.
FEAR: INCREASE IN EXTREME WEATHER EVENTS
There’s only one good way to deal with extreme weather events. It’s not to be there when it happens.
And you want to deny us our ability to get out of the way?
FEAR: CLIMATE INDUCED GLOBAL CONFLICT
When you’ve got rid of all politics-induced conflict – Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Ukraine, Palestine and all the rest – come back and I’ll consider your application.
FEAR: REACHING THE FOUR DEGREES OF WARMING
Hey, you’re almost right again! Only one difficulty. Warming isn’t the problem. At least, not 4 degrees Centigrade. And certainly not if it’s only in winter and at night – as your models tell us, don’t they?
Four degrees of cooling, on the other hand…
FEAR: GLOBAL CATASTROPHE
What? You warmists don’t fear global catastrophe. You want to cause it! You want to destroy Western civilization, freedom, prosperity and the future of the entire human race.
FEAR: UNKNOWN REPERCUSSIONS OF CLIMATE CHANGE
My fear: damned obvious repercussions of policies you want to impose on us. Totalitarianism, poverty, deaths of innocent people.
You don’t care about my fears; so why should I care about yours?
From the article: “We’ll reach a point where we’ll lose control over the system.”
It’s comforting to know that we have control of the climate system now. I wonder where the control panel is and who gets to turn the dials. After reading the article, I’m pretty sure each of the dials goes up to 11 and that Michael Mann sneaks in each night and turns them all to max.
The organisation behind the ScaredScientists calls itself The Climate Council.
One could therefore also call them the Soviet Of Climate. (Soviet = Council; and of course we need to drop the article as Russian doesn’t have them)
Since climate science is more religion than science I though sacredscientists.com would be more appropriate, I just can’t decide where to point the domain.
What should be emphasised over and over is that just because you know something about climate science does not mean you are qualified to predict the economic consequences of your projections/conclusions. My take on the 1 metre sea level rise in the next 100 years is that 1 centimetre a year would be fairly easy to deal with, even in developing countries.
Perhaps we would be better to say to the warmists, OK, you predict 2 – 4 degrees C temperature rise, lets debate the consequuences, benefits, losses, gains, social impacts, etc. This could take the arguement out of the warmist vs denier stalemate.

Emeritus professor Garth Paltridge, a former CSIRO chief research scientist, warns climate scientists hungry for power, fame and funding could have utterly trashed the reputation of science. They may have “been drawn into the trap of seriously overstating the climate problem … to promote the cause”.
“It risks destroying, perhaps for centuries to come, the unique and hard-won reputation for honesty which is the basis of society’s respect for scientific endeavour.”

Poe’s law at work, “it is difficult or impossible to tell the difference between an expression of sincere extremism and a parody of extremism.”
Also, congratulations on the new theme, looks very nice.
Awww, but http://www.saveyourassrescue.org is a more deserving cause.
The game is over, the funding will run out and they’ll have to find JOBS. Yes, they’re scared.
I think this is the result of our government defunding the entire bunch to get them off the public teat. They are now suckling on some private teat (not sure who), and obviously they are making up their own strategy.
I just hope the general Australian public are not too thick to be taken in, and go find some facts instead. I have long since ceased arguing the topic with people, I now tell them to go and find some facts, and counterpoints to those ‘facts’ (from either side of the argument), and come back and discuss it when you have more information than the MSM dish out. Nobody has so far.
Money, used for?
Therapy?
Drugs?
This reminds me of the episode in Big bang Theory where Leonard, Raj and Howard are camping in the desert and the eat cookies laced with pot. Leonard is staring at the sky and says he can feel the Earth moving. Then he starts freaking out and says it’s moving too fast. Raj squints his eyes and slows it down.
These scientists aren’t soon to be unemployed they ARE unemployed. Will Steffen, who I met at the Ipswich climate conversation can’t even get his story straight, one minute it’s 3 degrees per doubling next it’s 5 degrees by century end (something like 7 degrees per doubling). Despite his quals he is math challenged.
This appeal for cash could be illegal, and may constitute fraud – a police complaint might be warranted.
Why do all things horrible have a tie to the University of Queensland?
Anthony I haven’t received emails for days. I got the message through direct from your site.
Thanks for any help.
REPLY: no idea what you are talking about. – Anthony
I once agreed with Professor Flannery. About 12 years ago, whilst working at the Australian Museum, he gave a talk to the volunteers. He laboured the point that global warming wasn’t as important an issue as the imminent disappearance of endangered species and that is where the money should be spent. He was even critical of the ‘scientists’ who were pushing the heating scenario. I think he found the money!
Firstly, I like the new look of the site.
Secondly, have you noticed that the most shrill comments come from ecologists and biologists. While I’m sure they are good scientists within their given field, do they really understand the nuances of the climate models they put so much faith in.
The front page looks like an obituary to me. I guess it is.
You might think this would be impossible to parody. But see

Paul Matthews, I followed the link and I laughed myself to tears! One thing is obvious, skeptics absolutely rule in the humor category!
Tim Flannery, is well known for his bad public predictions associated with AGW.
Sydney Telegraph journalist, Tim Blair reminds us periodically of Tim’s bad predictions, this one:

CAN’T STAND THE RAIN
“Sweet memories. Remember the good old days of climate panic?
Back on June 11, 2005, the ABC reported alarming news from a reliable alarmist: “Professor Tim Flannery has warned that Australia is now entering long-term climate change, which could cause longer and more frequent droughts. He also predicts that the ongoing drought could leave Sydney’s dams dry in just two years.”
Two years on to the day, let’s see how Tim’s prediction worked out. Here’s an ABC report from June 11, 2007: “Sydney’s largest dam, Warragamba, received 43mm of rain since Thursday, while the region’s smaller dams got a better soaking, including the Upper Nepean which got 108mm. Sydney’s catchment is 36.9 per cent full.”
So let’s see where Sydney’s catchment levels are now, following seven more years of terrible climate change:
image : showing 81% full, as of Monday 18 August”
PS as of today it has increased to 83.9%.
More Tim Flannery Dud Predictions (from Andrew Bolt).
In 2008, Flannery said: “The water problem is so severe for Adelaide that it may run out of water by early 2009.”
Adelaide’s water storage levels today: 89%.
In 2007, Flannery predicted cities such as Brisbane would never again have dam-filling rains, as global warming had caused “a 20 per cent decrease in rainfall in some areas” and made the soil too hot, “so even the rain that falls isn’t actually going to fill our dams and river systems … “.
Brisbane’s dam levels today: 86%.
No wonder Tim is sad!
I reread Peter Macreadie’s “fears” with Stewie Griffen’s voice from Family Guy.
Oddly, it sounds more plausible that way.
I can see why there is no guest book. It might tip some of them over the edge.
Looking at the eight black and white photos of the Australian scientists on scaredscientists.com, I got the impression that there appears to be a quizzical and somewhat skeptical expression on faces of three of the four women.
Did anyone else get that impression?
John
Climate change is very real. For example, the average climate of the northern hemisphere is so cold as to cause the ground to be buried under a thousand feet of ice. The cycle of glacier on/glacier off takes place every several hundred thousand years and can be clearly seen in many ways. Even as the science is settled that glaciation has taken place, the causes are still undergoing vigorous debate.
With respect to the idea that humans are causing harmful changes to the climate at this very moment, I am waiting for some peer-reviewed papers that propose what the optimum climate is for our biosphere. The first question that would naturally flow would be where is our current climate and trend in relation to this finding.
That nobody seems interested in this vital comparison indicates that climate is primarily being studied for other purposes. Since all the urgent demands that flow from today’s climate science coincidentally converge on policy solutions that involve statism, bigger government, higher taxes, less personal liberty, the bigger picture tells me all that I need to know about “climate science”.
Isn’t it wonderful – here in Australia we have both crazy people who think the world is about to end, and sane people who wish it would!
Not all of our scientists are this bad – ponder on the words of professor Ian Plimer – in his book Heaven and Earth – but unfortunately those with the climate apocalypse meme ignored it and have held sway for far too long. Fortunately I am not employed by the government so I do my best with some articles in our industry newsletter and – amazingly – not one voice raised in anger over two years! One person did say at our recent industry conference that they were planning to send a rebuttal to my articles – so I asked her to do so – but she spoiled it by then saying she hadn’t done so as she didn’t have the knowledge to do so and would need help from someone else to write it! That’s the level we are dealing with….
Fortunately there are some sane ones out there and they far outnumber the insane, as demonstrated by the repeal of the useless carbon pricing – although we also seem to have more than enough insane ones in our parliament to mess other things up.
I am currently warning about the next ice age as the Antarctic sea ice continues to creep towards my home – maybe we will be some of the first climate refugees?
“FEAR: LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE CLIMATE SYSTEM” Um….they never HAD it to begin with.
MY biggest fear is that these hysterical, rent seeking twits will actually have some influence on policy.
Did you notice the lack of facts in any of the fears? I surmise they’ve gone off to hang out with Trenberth’s missing heat.
And, my goodness, is there something in the water in Oz that encourages this kind of lunacy?
Of course they’re scared – and with good reason: their grants are going to dry up.
Palindrom shows that even total fruitcakes can have fruitcake feeelings too… Aw shucks.
I’m sure that Professor and Dr.Lysenko must have had occasional feelings as he conducted the Party-line Genetics Inquisition before coindemning them to the Gulag
