It’s global warming, I tell you. We’re all doomed!
The question that should be addressed is, “Which climate scientist predicted run away hail storms?”
80 cms of hail in some places. The snow clearing machines have been at work to clean the roads and the streets in Almazán.
And here, outside Madrid, one has to sleep with a duvet. But this is not unheard of. There were a few years, in the early seventies, with almost no summer, or, at least, very late beginning , and very short , summers. I remember because my children were small then, and they were not prevented from sleeping because of the heat… It was great !
All hail the king!
About 10 or 15 years ago here in Colorado Springs, we had a very localized event with about 3 feet of hail. It blocked one of the major arteries, so the police put up road blocks to prevent people from trying to drive that road. A drunk driver circumvented the road blocks and ended up smashing into the hail — he was arrested.
Looks like a foot of water with a crust of floating hailstones. Common occurrence in Calgary when hail plugs drains causing water to back up….and gobs of hail to accumulate in low spots. King-[sized] slushy. And yes, Bill (and his social-media equivalents) will moan and whine.
Is there a correlation between the increase in Spanish wind turbines and hail storms?
…sized…
An old friend of mine was from that place.
Some trivia info you may be interested in. The movie “Doctor Zhivago” was filmed mostly in Spain, including many winter scenes which were filmed in the provice of Soria. Almazán belongs to that province. Despite the fame of sunny country, Spain also gets its share of snow.
A severe, but less severe, hailstorm in Oslo, Norway last week as well: http://www.tv2.no/a/5749662
Recognize and allow for large natural variations!
Natural climate persistence (Hurst-Kolmogorov dynamics) causes twice the standard deviations in weather/climate that conventional models calculate assuming random variations.
Tokyo got hammered by hail too, maybe late June.

There have been several of these localized events around the globe. The majority are in the European areas due to the cold Oceanic flows. IF you do the home work you will find an upper level (stratospheric) low and very cold winds aloft and warm surface winds with high humidity at each location just prior to the storms.
Given the increasing levels of CO2 these should not be happening as according to that hypothesis the increased water vapor will not allow the area to cool. (/sarc)
In reality land this is the perfect set up for a major event… Once the circulation starts all bets are off.
GeoEngineering Weather all over the world. It’s just sick. Global whipper snappers could be feeding and helping people all over the world, instead they waste their money on the evil of weather weapons and dare to call it Global Warming or Climate Change. This is Orwellian.
I went through a few similar experiences in the Orlando Florida area in the early 1992.

The one on March 25th was a doosie and caught on doppler radar.
Hail to the chief.
Of all the cars in the video it had to be the bright blue one. It almost looks staged.
Anyway… dat’s a lotta hail…
If snow or hails falls on the relatively warm earth surface and melts, it withdraws heat from the surface (which thereby cools). It represents a latent heat flow from the surface to the atmosphere which comes on top of latent heat flow from surface water evaporation. Can anybody tell how big this contribution to the ‘latent heat’ is, e.g. in atmospheric energy balance charts?
Nothing new. Stuff like this was happening 4 and a half centuries ago. See

Wasn’t I just reading about the dangers of “Heap big warmy?” And here they are!
If this fell in the right place (sheltered from the sun and wind) it could form an instant glacier.
That would throw a spanner in the ice-core data.

“GeoEngineering Weather all over the world. It’s just sick.”
No; here in Germany, perfectly normal July so far. Nothing geoengineered.
” Global whipper snappers could be feeding and helping people all over the world, instead they waste their money on the evil of weather weapons and dare to call it Global Warming or Climate Change. ”
How do you know they waste their money? I don’t even know whether a weather weapon is that expensive. HAARP ran on a Diesel generator, didn’t it? Sounds cheap to me.
“This is Orwellian.”
Nope. No weather weapons in 1984. Read it; you’ll be surprised. Maybe you mean “Kim-Possible-ian”. (Show had several weather machine occurences).

Yes, but they didn’t have climate disruption, back then.
It’s still all your fault, so Pay up.

Thanks for that great presentation. It must be admitted however that witch trials were held in Europe during the latter Medieval Warm Period, too, not just the Little Ice Age, although that’s when most occurred.

Milo, it is REALLY a good thing I wasn’t born back then.
Warmistas are probably going “oh hail”….
Not much fun driving around in that stuff, especially as folks probably have their summer tires on, even in the higher elevations. A couple of years ago we had a bad hailstorm here where I live (we’re up on a hill) (don’t mention that song…) and it was really dodgy and slippery…better just to stay home on days like that.

It has been better for almost everyone to have been born in the 20th or 21st centuries rather than the 14th or 15th. Ditto 16th, 17th & 18th. Even most of the 19th. Historians consider 1905 the first year in which the medical profession did more good than harm (although the surgeon who removed the arrow from Henry, Prince of Wales’ (future King Henry V) face after the Battle of Shrewsbury in 1403 was remarkably skillful).
The last person known (by me) to have been executed for witchcraft in North America was Chief Leatherlips in 1810, but that was, as has so often been the case, really a political murder, based upon his opposition to Tecumseh’s Confederacy:

Perhaps those people in Spain could use some of that climate repellent spray.

Not that terrible strange of an event. Read Geoffrey Parker’s “Global Crisis” for a eye opening account of the bad weather around the world in the 17th Century.
BUT back in 2000, we were told that the children won’t know what snow is due to global warming …..

Nice to see that Spanish motorists are just as inept as those in the Southern U.S.
Sorry, severe hail is not uncommon in Spain. Teruel region has the record for thunderstorms, hail and tornadoes. (According to a Spanish Met Man I know).
Viejecita says hail in Spain and cooler 70’s
Weather forecast today for Madrid is 22 max. THis has to be the coolest Ive seen for a July day in Madrid (although that’s only a total of 10 years over 3 different periods)
