National Climate Assessment – a flash in the pan

It seems the mainstream media has a short attention span…

NCA_bump

It also seems that policy wonks in D.C. are the most interested, having the highest search volume, the rest of the USA, not so much:

6 Flags Over Nothing

I wonder how much taxpayer’s money the government wasted preparing the NCA? That could be an interesting story in itself…

It is the most expensive non-issue in the history of mankind. This has been the largest robbery of world taxpayers ever pulled off.

@Eric Worrall : This was covered in the most recent Weekly Climate and Energy news roundup here on WUWT :
“For Only $7.5 Billion: According to the cover letter, the National Climate Assessment (NCA) is the result of a three-year analytical effort by a team of over 300 experts, overseen by a broadly constituted Federal Advisory Committee of 60 members. Other reports stated that the NCA was 4 or 5 years in the making. Three years is sufficient to establish an estimate of how much the NCA costs. The NCA is the justification for the US Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) and it is the program’s principal product. According to reports from the White House, the USGCRP spent about $7.469 Billion in fiscal years 2011, 2012, and 2013 (fiscal years end on September 30). Yet, the USGCRP cannot estimate sea level rise 86 years hence within one foot! See links under Questioning The NCA http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/microsites/ostp/FY12-climate-fs.pdf and http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/omb/assets/legislative_reports/fcce-report-to-congress.pdf

Are the Colorado numbers from Dr. Trenberth’s disciples rejoicing or Steven Goddard’s readers mocking the NCA?

So what … the report has been submitted and what the public and/or media does about it is irrelevant … it’s there for the EPA to use as it works its will next year. When the scope of those actions become apparent, all the EPA needs to do is to point to the dangers shown in the report as justification. And to think that it’s just an agency created by executive order (thanks Mr. Nixon) … it’s not just Mr. Obama who’s going to town on those executive orders.

360 experts and 7.5 billion; that equals 21 million each. For the next assessment pick me, pick me.

That’s telling evidence of how much of this is policy driven spin, not science.

Obama’s alarmist NCA had a 30-second life-span in this age of Kardashian-Miley-LilLo-centric pablum issued from the media. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

More to the point. Are they enjoying the last 48 hours of “global warming” effects in Denver-Boulder.

Leon is correct. What the news media says is unimportant compared to the economy-crushing regulations proposed by the EPA. In fact removing the study from the public debate facilitates the EPA’s program. How many EPA regulations have been rescinded?

Once you take out the sceptics from the above graph it falls even lower. National Climate Assessment headlines will soon be a thing of the past. Children won’t know what a National Climate Assessment headline is.

So far. It is, however, simply the opening salvo.

The scarey story does not affect most people. They have real problems, such as how to BUY health insurance, how to pay taxes, and still feed the family plus the other 148million Americans.

Well, except the scarey CO2 regulations/restrictions will [affect] all the people in the US, and the effect will be costly to each and every one of us.

Themedia moving on its never ending HDAD frenzy misses the point. This faux report is a marker. A ratchet point as it were. If and when the President or a successor decides to impose even more worthless wastes of tax payer resources and largesse distribution to favored insiders, this report will be used as a justification. That it is a political document of no scientific value is irrelevant. It is a political tool to achieve the goals of the climate obsessed.

And it is one more demonstration (as if any more were needed) that this is NOT a scientific argument anymore. It is a purely political fight now, and that indisputable fact is now out in the open.
Saw that the World Wildlife Federation is laying off all of their “scientists” and “researchers” and instead just hiring (democrat affiliated, of course) lobbyists and media marketers in their place. They know how this war is going to be fought from now on. They couldn’t care less about the science; the key is realizing that *no one* on the warmist side cares about the actual science any more. That’s why no newly found data can ever persuade them to change their minds, because they could not care less about Data.
Either this fight is fought and won on a purely political battlefield or it is lost. There is no 3rd choice left.

The “discovery” that the whole global warming campaign is at its core not a scientific controversy but a political assault doesn’t surprise those who experienced the nature and methods of totalitarian systems and forces.
Frankly, no such special experience is required. Common sense, basic knowledge of history and paying attention to current events should be enough but somehow it never is.

The marxist-media-lobbyist-academic nests in cities/universities that work to control the entire USA are thus identified. Boston must have been asleep tho…

So only people looking to regulate business using climate change scare tactics and hippies fried out of their mind have Googled climate change. That’s not surprising. I guess if they can’t actually see the climate changing anywhere they might as well read about it.

From the NCA3 Highlights:
“The observed warming and other climatic changes are triggering wide-ranging impacts in every
region of our country and throughout our economy. Some of these changes can be beneficial over the short run, such as a longer growing season in some regions and a longer shipping season on the Great Lakes.”
…apparently, they haven’t received the memo in Duluth, Minnesota…..
